Don't you understand, that situation is why they must have the understanding that it was all about slavery and that the South was the only side involved in that "great crime" against blacks. When that is an accepted "fact", then whatever was done to the South was DESERVED and no one need feel any guilt or remorse about it. For decades before the War, the people of the South - white AND BLACK - were demonized in preparation for their cultural if not physical extinction so that the philosophy and culture of NEW ENGLAND could reign from "sea to shining sea". It has worked to date and continues to work.
