In 1928, Allen Swift, Springfield, Massachusetts, received a new 1928 Rolls-Royce Picadilly P1 Roadster from his father as a graduation gift. Over the years, he put 170,000 miles on it, and drove it until October 2005 when he died at the age of 102.
“….Then the Gods of the Market tumbled, and their smooth-tongued wizards withdrew
And the hearts of the meanest were humbled and began to believe it was true
That All is not Gold that Glitters, and Two and Two make Four
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings limped up to explain it once more.
As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool's bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;
And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!”
--Rudyard Kipling, “The Gods of the Copybook Headings”, 1919
"Print on demand site run by the Amazon.com folks (there are others out there, I just researched this one for a project of my own). According to the pricing guide on their Web site, an 8" x 10", black and white book of 100 pages is only $3.66. A 200-page book is $5.50. The final product looks like a regular paperback book, complete with full-color cover. You'd also pay shipping and handling, but I'm sure you can see that this can be a significant time and money saver, especially if you want multiple copies of the same book. Putting multiple books in the same binding can further your savings." (Survival)

"A federal judge has ruled that the 20-state lawsuit headed by Florida may proceed.
So much for the ruling that the 'individual mandate' was enforceable that came down a week or so ago.
More details when I have them."

That’s the agenda of the Claremont Institute, as this article from The Nation magazine explains. It appears that the Institute’s Dr. Strangelove, Harry Jaffa, high priest of the Lincoln Cult, is also a rather obsessed homophobe, and has been for decades. He bases such views on a unique version of “natural rights” that he adopted from his mentor, the atheistic numerologist Leo Strauss. This is not the “natural rights” theory of Jefferson and other founders, but a counterfeit version.
This explains why two fellow academics called me a couple of years ago to ask me the Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid question about the Claremontistas: “Who are those guys?” They called after presenting a paper at an academic conference in which they argued that Lincoln was bisexual (not my field of expertise), and were taken aback at how some Straussian Claremontistas in the audience responded with over-the-top personal attacks as opposed to the normal academic debate. They discovered that I had also dared to disagree with The High Priest over his (mis)interpretations of Lincoln, and was subjected to similar childish behavior. I explained to them that Claremont is a cult, whereby Jaffa has taken the place of Strauss. As with all cults, the cult leader espouses The Official Truth, and the job of his minions is to smear, attack, and denigrate all doubters. That’s why they belong in a circus, not in academe.
It was never there for anyone with a brain.

"I'm shocked! I never would have guessed they'd do that! (Yes, it's sarcasm.)
People are implicating themselves, one tweet at a time.
At this point, I'm now thinking of setting up social networking accounts and managing them as sources of disinformation!":-)

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund E-Mail Alert
8001 Forbes Pl, Suite 102
Springfield, VA 22151
Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is pleased to endorse Harold Johnson for Congress in North Carolina's Eighth District.
Harold respects the Second Amendment as originally intended by the Founding Fathers, and has pledged to "steadfastly work to maintain this right and fight vigorously against any measures that seek to undermine it."
Harold's opponent, Larry Kissell, has turned out to be just another of Pelosi's voting puppets.
In 2009, Kissell voted three times against protecting gun rights in national parks. And after turning his back on the Second Amendment, he turned around and voted to greatly expand the amount of federally controlled land that would be subject to a total gun ban.
And this year, Kissell voted for the so-called DISCLOSE Act, which seeks to prevent groups like GOA from criticizing an incumbent's voting record in the months leading up to an election. DISCLOSE, a blatant violation of the First Amendment, should more accurately be called the "Incumbent Protection Act." But given Kissell's bad voting record, it is not surprising that he would like to hide it from his constituents.
The choice for gun owners and sportsmen in North Carolina's Eighth Congressional District is clear. Unlike his opponent, Harold Johnson will always stand up for the Constitution and the right to keep and bear arms.
GOA encourages all Second Amendment supporters to help Harold Johnson win this seat in the U.S. Congress. If you can volunteer your time in these last days before the election, or can make a financial contribution, please visit Harold at:
Of course, if you live in North Carolina's Eighth District, please remember to vote for Harold Johnson.
Early voting begins today, so please encourage all your pro-gun family and friends in the district to vote for Harold Johnson.

The year 2011 will mark the 150th anniversary of the War for Southern Independence ; and the Sons of Confederate Veterans encourage you to celebrate this noble time in our history when men and women of the South stood courageously for liberty, even in the face of insurmountable odds.
Not a "civil war" fought to take over the united States, as it is called in history books today, this was a war in which Southerners fought to defend their homes and families against an aggressive invasion by federal troops. The South peacefully seceded, just like our Founding Fathers did in 1776 with England ; and all we wanted was to be left alone to govern ourselves. But the north and Abraham Lincoln would not allow the South to peacefully leave because of the taxes and tariffs the South paid.
So the South fought for her liberty... and fought valiantly. Men like Jackson, Forrest and Lee. Outnumbered in some battles 5 to 1.
Don't let others do your thinking for you. Don't allow them to rob you of your heritage while they celebrate their own. Be proud of your Southern history and heritage.
The Battle of Hastings
"King Harold II of England is defeated by the Norman forces of William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings, fought on Senlac Hill, seven miles from Hastings, England. At the end of the bloody, all-day battle, Harold was killed -- shot in the eye with an arrow, according to legend."
