Better Not Buy Butterball

If you’re going to be at home for Thanksgiving, better buy that turkey quick so it has time to thaw. But unless you’re a Religion of Peacenik, don’t buy it from the Islamopanderers at Butterball:

Customer service representatives from Butterball, one of America’s most popular Turkey brands, confirmed to WND that the company’s whole turkeys are — without being labeled as such — slaughtered according to Islamic “halal” standards.

“Halal slaughter involves cutting the trachea, the esophagus and the jugular vein and letting the blood drain out while saying, ‘Bismillah allahu akbar’ — ‘in the name of Allah the greatest,’” explains Pamela Geller, author of “Stop the Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance.” “Many people refuse to eat it on religious grounds. Many Christians, Hindus or Sikhs and Jews find it offensive to eat meat slaughtered according to Islamic ritual.”

  2. Pam Geller is a lunatic right-wing Zionist extremist; she is hardly an unbiased observer concerning any (ANY!) issue involving Muslim acts. And, as usual, in this one SHE IS WRONG.

    Case in point: "halal"...

Serious question: is it the method of killing you object to? ie, the throat-slitting, etc.?

Because "kosher" slaughter is THE EXACT SAME THING, just done by a "religious Jew who is duly licensed and trained."

    Full details on wiki: Kashrut

So, whether a Muslim or a Jew is ritually killing an animal, in order for either religion to make it "kosher/halal", THE EXACT PROCEDURE IS USED!!! (Notable difference: a Jew can be involved in Muslim slaughter. A Muslim or Christian, however, would not be allowed to touch Jewish food without "contaminating" it...)

Or is it the fact that a Muslim is doing it? Is it the "Muslim blessing" that is so "offensive"?

Are American Christians literally so superstitious that meat is somehow unfit because at some point a Muslim clergy might have said "in the name of Allah the Greatest" over the meat???

Are Christians so intimidated by Islam that somehow the Christian blessing that surely they will all invoke on that meal will be less effective??? Is Islam so powerful, so "evil" that a blessing from a Muslim taints the food to the extent that no Christian may eat it???

I looked at the article on WND.com and some "Christian" lunatic extremist is quoting the Bible to justify boycotting Butterball:
"Stay away from food that has been offered to idols (which makes it unclean)..." (Acts 15:20, New Century Version).

I guess it depends on if you believe that Allah is an "idol"... Me being a militant "non-religious person", that's not an issue I care about. I understand that America has lots of people who are deeply devoted to religious issues, and I suppose some may consider Butterball turkeys to be unacceptable, if they believe that Allah is an idol.

I'm no Bible scholar, but honestly: is saying "in the name of Allah" over an animal really the same as "offered to idols"???

And Pamela's deception in the name of her political beliefs are revealed at the end. She says “Many people refuse to eat it on religious grounds. Many Christians, Hindus or Sikhs and Jews find it offensive to eat meat slaughtered according to Islamic ritual.”

And why is that? Well, Hindus and Sikhs have their own very strict rules; it has nothing to do with the "Muslim" part. They must eat food prepared according to their own religion.

JUST LIKE KOSHER JEWS, who "find it offensive" to eat ANYTHING touched or cooked by a non-Jew. Try to serve a kosher Jew some wine made by a Christian, and see what reaction you get...

Saying that "many...find it offensive" is very misleading. A more accurate, less misleading way to say it would be: "many religions require meat slaughtered according to their own customs."

Any "Christian" who won't eat a Butterball turkey because of this alleged Muslim ritual must not be very confident in his own religion.

Solely because of crazy Pam's article, I am going to buy a Butterball turkey, and I am going to encourage everyone I know to do the same...

That's my opinion, and Brock, I hope you don't mind me posting it... I will gladly discuss this with anyone, in a civil and grown-up manner.

But note: I'm a proud American, and I've probably sent more Muslims to see Allah than many who are reading this. Anyone who wants to talk is welcome, but let's play nice...

  4. Tom- muslims are the modern day locust of plagues.

They want to spread their mulo-maniac filth by the sword.

They take "great offense" to the mere mention of pigs, allah cartoons, etc that they are unfit and are idol worshipers and are bound for hell when they die.

If I can help them, I will. Until then I will take every swipe, jab or poke at them I can.

    I will not submit.

  5. Halal does NOT require a prayer. Halal describes a method of slaughter. Kosher slaughter is identical to Halal; in fact, Surah 5:5 of the Qurn notes that slaughter by "the people of the book" (Jews and Christians) is an acceptible substitute for Halal. Do you really think that the millions of turkeys slaughtered each year are prayed over individually by a Rabbi or a Mullah? The packing plants are not "blessed" by a Rabbi, by the way, they are inspected for cleanliness and adherence to correct slaughtering techniques.
How do I know this? My father was a butcher for fifty-five years and worked alongside Kosher and Halal butchers all his life.
Let's worry about how to control the coming financial crisis and avert a civil war, not how livestock is slaughtered.

It is no "religon's" business to inspect them for any reason, period
