Failed, failed, failed........

Failed, failed, failed. And then... burned Atlanta, killed half a million people

and ripped the US Constitution to shreds.

  1. I've seen those bilboards in my travels for years. The masses don't know the truth behind the "hype".
He got exactly what he deserved although a little to late,me thinks!

  2. Indeed, Chris. It's been said many times but it's a shame JWB didn't act a couple of years sooner. So many lives and so much destruction could probably have been prevented.

Actually he did try to kidnap him earlier, but the plan failed.

  5. I have to wonder about JWB. I know the history books are written by the Yankees, but what if they're right about how the 'Reconstruction' turned into Retribution? Specifically, I'm referring to the common wisdom that the Radical Republicans tossed Johnson out on his ear because they wanted punish the South, while Lincoln would have been less punitive, had he lived. What if the last thing JWB did for his Cause was the worse thing he could have done for it? Then again, Mr Lincoln had already unleashed Sherman on Georgia, so maybe the kinder, gentler Reconstruction meme is another layer of obfuscation. As an aside, I note that the Radical Republicans would do to the South what Europe later did to Germany after the Treaty of Versailles.

  6. Actually the Tyrant would have been less punitive, I believe, but JWB did what he thought was right and I shall back him.
