Zoomie- While I was at Bitburg AB in '90. We had an exercise with the RAF.
Those Tornado drivers were crazy. The one pic of one flying between hangars, I saw some stunts like that.
They would come in with their OPFOR bombing runs over the flightline & hard shelters no more than 20-30 feet above them movin on probably. close to 400kts.
Part of the time I was in the Crops I swung with the wing, and we had a pilot come back with cactus scraps on his wings. I have seen the mini-gun on a Cobra-W replaced because it hit a cactus. I have hung off a rope below a Sea Knight and was worried about being ran into trees.
That was fun.

ReplyDeleteHad a C-130 buzz us in a similar fashion (not quite as low as the pic) in Kuwait back in 1990.
I didn't know it was coming, and it darn near scared the urine right outta me!

I've seen crop dusters get into pretty tight spots also.
