Three myths about the detention bill

I missed this one.

In sum, there is simply no question that this bill codifies indefinite detention without trial (Myth 1).

There is no question that it significantly expands the statutory definitions of the War on Terror and those who can be targeted as part of it (Myth 2).

The issue of application to U.S. citizens (Myth 3) is purposely muddled — that’s why Feinstein’s amendments were rejected — and there is consequently no doubt this bill can and will be used by the U.S. Government (under this President or a future one) to bolster its argument that it is empowered to indefinitely detain even U.S. citizens without a trial (NYT Editorial: “The legislation could also give future presidents the authority to throw American citizens into prison for life without charges or a trial”; Sen. Bernie Sanders: “This bill also contains misguided provisions that in the name of fighting terrorism essentially authorize the indefinite imprisonment of American citizens without charges”).

  1. On a previous post on Liberty & Preparedness concerning TSA's expanded intrusions onto the highways, subways and train stations of America I mentioned it is all about conditioning and I believe the comment is relevant here as well. I believe like Pavlov's dogs the public is being conditioned to accept what would otherwise be unacceptable. My post is below and all we can do is Resist...

"This is action meant not to deter actual terrorists but to get citizens used to the inconvenience and the intrusion on their Liberties and once again under the guise of safety and security. Slowly increase the intrusions and make ordinary citizens accept as normal the actions needed to keep them safe. In fact at the chance of seeming to be considered one with my helmet too tight the only ones this action is meant to keep safe is the ruling oligarchy. Control the citizens in the name of safety and security. Raise their fear level and internal threat limit and they will follow wherever it is they wish to lead them. Get them sufficiently conditioned and then if necessary the powers that be can put out an alert on domestic terrorists and it will be like a scene from Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Ordinary citizens will be pointing at fellow citizens and screaming at the top of their lungs putting out a collective alert to bring the authorities running. Properly conditioned citizens will not only not be concerned when their neighbor who was "hoarding" food and stashing away weapons and ammunition suddenly disappears they will feel relieved and celebrate the safety and security big brother can provide."

  2. Our congress & senate are empowering Obama to become a dictator by voting to give away their power to him. I wonder how the weak-kneed fools are going to feel when he has both abolished ? Germany`s democratic government turned power over to a dictator & we all know what that brought the world. Is America in the process of making the same mistake ?

Must be in a time warp.
