Subject: Home school question
"Kathryn Iandoli referred me to you. Would you know if there is a home school in the area willing to take a 14 year old boy and help him pass the 8th grade! He was suspended from public school and his single mother is not in a position to home school. He would begin public high school in the Fall."

The.........Vietnamese community near the Mary Queen of Vietnam Catholic Church (MQVC) in New Orleans East. Composed of immigrants, many of whom arrived in New Orleans in 1975, this group presents a success story that illustrates the importance of community action and “socially embedded resources.” Although the BNOB suggested in a November report (two months after Katrina) that “significant study” was needed before any rebuilding, and the ULI recommended that the area be turned into open space, within weeks of Katrina, MQVC residents were returning and beginning to rebuild. Within one year, three thousand people had returned to the community, and in two years 90 percent of the community’s residents had returned. A charismatic leader, Father Vien, who began to hold church services shortly after Katrina, provided key leadership by “signaling” to the community that rebuilding would proceed. The author characterizes the community’s view as “we have all been through worse and shall overcome this hardship” (p. 73, emphasis in original). (How many could say that?) Many of these people had already overcome great hardships, fleeing twice from Communist expansion in Vietnam (an experience that prepared them well for Katrina, it turns out). The MQVN example indicates how cultural tools and a historical narrative can create a cohesive, confident, and resilient community.
The Upper and Lower Ninth Ward.........is a relatively poor, predominantly African American group that struggled with recovery more than most communities. Although many community members had a “sense of place” and believed that “God has a plan” (p. 119), the community lacked the direction to undertake meaningful rebuilding. Only 11 percent of the pre-Katrina population had returned to the Lower Ninth Ward by June 2008 (p. 113), notwithstanding the ecofriendly homes that Brad Pitt’s Make It Right organization built there.
The national debt jumped by $72 billion on Tuesday even as the Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives passed a continuing resolution to fund the government for just three weeks that will cut $6 billion from government spending.
If Congress were to cut $6 billion every three weeks for the next 36 weeks, it would manage to save between now and late November as much money as the Treasury added to the nation’s net debt during just the business hours of Tuesday, March 15.
“It is unconscionable that published government statistics mislead Americans regarding the true rate of price inflation, which is much higher than commonly-reported CPI numbers,” Paul stated. “It is also unconscionable that Federal Reserve Bank officials continue to deny the effects of their monetary expansion on consumer prices. Inflation, properly understood, is a monetary phenomenon. The price inflation Americans suffer today is largely the direct result of relentless monetary expansion by the Federal Reserve over the past decade. Our witnesses will explore how current monetary policy, including QE2, directly impacts the standard of living of Americans in ways that are not reflected in official government data.”
Congressman Walter Jones, vice chairman of the subcommittee, stated, “The Fed has attempted to convince the public that its money printing campaign is necessary to stimulate America’s economic recovery. Instead of recovery, the real effect of the Fed’s money printing has been monetization of America’s exploding fiscal deficits, devaluation of the dollar, and creation of inflation in asset prices across the board. As a result, working people in places like Eastern North Carolina are being squeezed at the gas pump and the grocery store as they struggle to make ends meet in a world in which their salaries have no chance of keeping up with Mr. Bernanke’s printing presses.”

The Jefferson Davis Presidential Library and Museum at Beauvoir is scheduled to open late this fall, two years after work began.
That's a little behind schedule because of the complexity of the concrete work that was required to ensure the 25,000-square-foot building remains intact if another hurricane the size of Hurricane Katrina strikes. Every building at the Confederate president's retirement home was damaged or destroyed by Katrina in 2005.
The library was less than 10 years old when Katrina washed through the first floor, said Richard Forte Sr., acting Beauvoir director. Instead of repairing the library, which sat in the middle of a flood zone, FEMA agreed to pay $10.5 million to restore the national landmark on higher ground to the northwest.

There was a time I thought I’d live forever, I was too damn tough to die
But after all these years of abusing myself I’m damned if I know why
And it’s looking like my living days will soon be in my past
But there’s one thing, Lord, that I need from you, before I breathe my last.
I’ve probably asked for too much while I was taking up my space
But, I need to ask for one more thing, before I leave this place.
If you’ll grant me one last final wish, I’ll offer up my soul
Then take me any time you want, while they plant me in that hole.
Lord, please let me live , to see Jane Fonda die!
Then you can send me down to hell, and I’ll smile while I fry
I know you’ve let her live too long, but I'm damned if I know why,
So, please let me live, to see Jane Fonda die!
Some friends and I spent some time in a place called Viet Nam
Most of us left here young boys, but we all came back a man.
They didn’t let us make the rules, so we did what we were told
And almost sixty thousand men lost their chance at getting’ old.
Back home they marched against the war, and called us evil names
Like ‘baby killers’, and ‘war mongers’; and said we were insane
And, hell, we just ignored them, and let ‘em have their fun
We’ve forgotten almost all their names, but we won’t forget this ONE…..
While our friends were dying in the south, she flew up to Hanoi
And sat on anti-aircraft guns that were shooting down our boys
And the smile she wore while sitting there for all the world to see!
Is something that we won’t forgive for all eternity!
So, Lord, let me live to see Jane Fonda die!
Then you can send us both to hell, and I’ll smile while we fry!
I know you’ve let her live too long, but I'm damned if I know why.
But please, Lord, let me live to see Jane Fonda die!
Well, the traitor bitch went into hiding, for almost 40 years.
But that don’t mean a hill of beans to the mom’s who cried those tears
After losing sons who paid the price, so she could protest war
So you need to send her down to Hell; we don’t want her here no more!
OH, Please let me live to see Jane Fonda die!
I wanna piss and dance on her grave, and then I’ll gladly fry!
I know the price is condemnation, but this will be a celebration!
So, Lord! Please! Let me live, to see Jane Fonda die!
I Want To Live To See Jane Fonda Die
"Democrat Eleanor Holmes Norton, the District of Columbia’s congressional delegate, failed to show up at a MoveOn.org rally on Tuesday afternoon as the left-wing organization attempted to stage a protest at the Social Security Administration headquarters in Washington, D.C. Organizers at the event, who would not provide their names to The Daily Caller upon request, said Holmes Norton was stuck speaking on the House floor. Holmes Norton does not have a vote in the House, only an opportunity to make recommendations.
Holmes Norton wasn’t the only person missing at MoveOn.org’s DC rally. The crowds of people MoveOn.org claims to have as followers didn’t make it out either. Maybe 30 people showed up – and that’s a generous estimate."
Alan Gottlieb of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms announced his organization “would be eager to talk with the White House, especially about the ‘Project Gunrunner’ and ‘Fast and Furious’ scandals, where federal agents helped facilitate gun sales to suspected gunrunners.”Via Sipsey Street Irregulars
But the gods were listening.
"President Obama has spoken over the weekend in a call for reform of gun laws.
I concur with the President.
For years, I have called for the repeal of all gun laws. It is about time. Let us reason together. Just understand that our idea of reform -- 90 million adult gun owners -- is the repeal of gun laws, not more gun laws. There is no such thing as a sensible gun law. In this country, long before President Obama, there never was a sensible gun law. There has always been force and abuse of due process, but no sensible gun law. The short essay is this: Our governments here have no legal authority to make any gun laws whatsoever. How is that possible"

LHC World's First Time Machine? May Send Matter & Messages Into The Past & Future Through 5th Dimension Say Vanderbilt Physicists
“One of the attractive things about this approach to time travel is that it avoids all the big paradoxes,” Weiler said. “Because time travel is limited to these special particles, it is not possible for a man to travel back in time and murder one of his parents before he himself is born, for example. However, if scientists could control the production of Higgs singlets, they might be able to send messages to the past or future.”
"A report that a jet fighter pilot has crashed into Bab Azizia, Gaddafi's secure compound in Tripoli is confirmed, and a huge fire has erupted according to reports by the Libyan Youth Movement.
The pilot who flew his plane into Baab Al Aziziyah took off as part of a 2 plane team with the mission of bombing strategic points in Al Guradibya base in Sirte. Their orders were to return immedietly after completing the mission. One pilot followed orders while the other flew to Tripoli where he emptied what he had left of ammunition on Baab Al Aziziyah and then crashed his plane into it. The pilot is considered a hero as well as a martyr by many in Libya."
Eight Marines from Camp Lejeune and two Sailors were injured in an explosion during a live fire training exercise at Fort Bragg Monday night.
Staff Sgt. Jayson Price, spokesman for the II Marine Expeditionary Force at Lejeune, said the explosion happened about 8 p.m. when members of the 10th Marine Regiment were firing a 155mm howitzer. The regiment is at Fort Bragg for annual spring artillery training called Rolling Thunder, which typically involves loud explosions.
