If all goes according to plan, I shall be entering a hospice for cancer care. I wish I knew how to show my appreciation for all the fine minds I was able to interact with over the years, thanks to this technology. There are so many who I truly admire, and you know who you are. Your sensible and intelligent approach to politics and to life in general kept me sane throughout many crazed actions by our "leaders."
I regret the many writings, especially responses, unaccomplished, and the many deeds undone or unfinished. I do hope many find the posts on this blog worthwhile, and continue to read some of them.
Goodnight and goodnight.

Last Friday I had the privilege to talk with Ms Jean Weber about her experience with the TSA and her mother. This event made national news a few days back.I felt compelled to write about it below.RegardsPete
The New Ms Jean Weber
On Saturday, June 18th 2011, Ms. Jean Weber took her ailing mother to the airport so she could go see relations in Michigan.
Her mother was elderly, frail, and battling illness. She had to wear special undergarments because her age and infirmities made self control difficult. Travel is hard for her. She could not walk far enough to make it through an airport scanner. But she was determined to see her family in Michigan. With the help of her daughter, Jean, she would get through it somehow. For her part, Jean felt a daughter’s love and wanted her mom to get on her way in as little discomfort as possible.
Jean knew about airport security, but she didn’t worry. After all, this is Okaloosa; this is home.
Out of earshot, she watched as her mother was frisked by the TSA. She saw how rudely and hard the strangers placed their hands. It worried Jean because she knew how easily her mother bruised.
But something else was wrong. Her mother was shuffled out of view to a separate room. After some time a TSA agent came out and unceremoniously gave Jean an edict. In order to get on a plane her mother would have to remove her diaper for inspection.
Jean couldn’t believe it.

HOUSTON—Parents who thought their home was safe are battling with the state over the custody of their kids, and they believe they’re being punished because they’re poor.
"You shouldn’t take our kids because we’ve fallen on hard times," said Prince Leonard, a married father of six whose family resides in a northeast Houston storage shed.
The Leonards moved in three years ago after the father, an unemployed welder, was hired as a maintenance worker.
The family had already lost an apartment and believed the homeless shelter wasn’t safe enough.
"This is much more secure," said Charlomane Leonard. "Our children can play outside here."
Recently, a passerby spotted the children outside and reported them to Child Protective Services.
You want to know whether you make a difference or not?
Consider what YOUR INFLUENCE was able to accomplish in the U.S. Senate.
Last week, the Senate debated whether to allow Barack Obama to appoint political hacks to 170 top government positions -- rather than requiring Senate confirmation, as the Constitution requires.
But before passing the bill, the Senate unanimously passed amendments which would require the most important Presidential appointments to still be approved by the Senate.
This was a huge victory. But do you have any idea why this happened?
It happened because of YOU! It happened because of your calls and emails to your U.S. Senators. It happened because you changed their minds! This is what we have heard from Senate staff on the Hill.
Remember how your emails told Senators that the Assistant Attorney General, Robert Weich, was stonewalling and lying to the congressional oversight committee about the deadly ATF policy known as Fast and Furious?
Remember how your emails told Senators that people like him NEEDED to be approved by the Senate? This is what we suggested you tell them:
"[I]t’s important that federal officials who are responsible for telling Congressmen what documents they can or can't review should be first approved with the ‘advice and consent’ of the Senate."
Amazingly, this just hadn’t occurred to the Senators. It hadn’t occurred to them that allowing the Weichs of the world to be appointed -- without Senate confirmation -- would be a huge mistake!
But, when you pointed it out to them, EVERYONE fell into line. Even anti-gun zealot and New York Senator Charles Schumer was forced to admit on the Senate floor that, “of course,” the people who control the flow of information to the Senate should be subject to confirmation by the Senate.
Realize that you get the credit for making this happen!
With the exception of an agreement by the Heritage Foundation that it would rate the vote, NO OTHER organization on Capitol Hill –- and no other activists from any such organization -– lobbied against this bill.
But you were active in a battle that saw 41 senators vote for important amendments and witnessed changes that were UNANIMOUSLY approved to the bill’s core provisions.
Having said that, the bill, as it passed the Senate, would still allow Barack Obama to appoint a political hack to head the Bureau of Justice Statistics, rather than being confirmed by the Senate.
The Bureau of Justice Statistics is intended to provide non-partisan statistics which can be used to formulate federal crime policy.
In the past, its work has highlighted the use of guns by law-abiding Americans for self-defense.
But if its director became a political hack, appointed by an anti-gun President without Senate confirmation (as S. 679 would provide), it could rapidly become an engine for politically correct anti-gun “junk science.”
For this reason, we are asking you to write your Representative to kill S. 679 in the House.
On Thursday, The Washington Post stated that “[t]he House of Representatives ... has indicated that it will pass [S. 679].”
They’ve already pronounced the final verdict ... and the vote hasn’t even occurred yet!
But you can help change the outcome. Please, contact your Congressman and ask him or her to oppose S. 679.
ACTION: Contact your Representative and ask him to declare S. 679 “dead on arrival.” And please forward this alert to your pro-gun family and friends.
WND has yet another article up this morning on the so-called "Birth Certificate"
I'm well-aware many people won't read their work or take the plugs out of their ears simply due to who published it, never mind that the actual author who Jerome Corsi interviewed won't allow his name to be used.
Well, I'll go ahead and show you what I found on my own after seeing this, and let you decide - and I have no problem putting my name on it.
The gist of the claim is that the signature by Obama's mother is "too good." That is, she couldn't have actually signed the form as is depicted as the signature is too perfectly aligned to be made by a human.
I'll back that off a bit and restate: The alignment is too perfect to have been created by a human. The signature might be human, but the alignment appears to have been done after the fact, which implicates a constructed (as opposed to scanned) document.
Here's the evidence:
Note the "baseline" (which I added) under the two "cohesive" cursive portions of the signature. That line, which I added, is a 1/4 pixel line and is exactly straight, as is the baseline on the printed form.
President Obama and other US officials have repeated over and over that the US-NATO war in Libya is all about "protecting civilians," and that it is limited and defensive in nature. But now that we are more than 90 days into an operation that Obama claimed would last "days, not weeks," it is time to state the obvious: the president has been fundamentally dishonest with Americans about the purpose and scope of the Libya war.
President Obama and his supporters argue that the US-NATO war in Libya was necessary to protect civilians from a hypothetical "genocide" that would supposedly have occurred had events in Libya been permitted to run their course. On this argument's own terms, the war would be defensible only as a limited action aimed at preventing the massacre of civilians. Obama and other leaders are aware of these limits — hence their continued insistence that the intervention in Libya is a short-term operation with purely humanitarian ends.
And yet the stated purpose of the NATO airstrikes in recent weeks has been to target and weaken Libyan president Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's military forces and to provide 24/7, low-risk air support for the offensive operations of Libya's rebels, who hope eventually to advance on Tripoli and overthrow Gaddafi.
Simply put, what was sold to the American public as a humanitarian intervention morphed almost immediately into unreserved support of one side in Libya's civil war and a commitment to overthrowing Libya's existing government.
It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning cannot be applied to this great charter.
If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions.
If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people.
Those who wish to proceed in that direction cannot lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers.

The Justice Department is obstructing the congressional investigation of a U.S. law enforcement operation intended to crack down on major weapons traffickers on the Southwest border, according to the embattled leader of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Ken Melson, the acting director of the ATF, lobbed the accusation when he sneaked in for an interview with congressional investigators on July 4, two days ahead of his scheduled interview with the inspector general about the operation known as "Fast and Furious," Fox News has learned.
Via avordvet, L&P
What my source said yesterday: "Melson was too cute by half. He tried to protect himself without giving up too much." That is consistent with what Solomon writes above. How did the investigators react? I asked. Were they pissed? "You don't pull in a big fish all at once, you take up every slack in the line he gives you until you're ready to gaff him. These are patient fishermen."
Still, I said, if the questioning was in any way competent, Melson had to have given up more than he wanted to. His reply?
"You bet your ass he did."
Leading to other agencies and higher ups? I asked.
"You bet your ass he did. Laterally and vertically. . . They're peeling back the onion."
If, as this story suggests, the straw buyers and smugglers were informants or operatives of the DEA and FBI, unbeknown to the ATF, the Gunwalker conspiracy just got broader, higher and more evil. What Melson is suggesting here, beyond embracing his own incompetence in favor of his own culpability, is that the ATF was the unwitting tool in a larger conspiracy. "Just shut up, let the guns walk and track them after they turn up in Mexico, and other people will handle what happens in the middle."
Melson's claim is nothing less than a declaration of war on the FBI and DEA, and they will defend themselves. Expect more revelations to come from that internecine process. If Melson is right, it also implicates DHS, the National Security Agency and the White House, for the larger operation would not, could not, have proceeded without authorization and coordination from the top.
