Turkey Accused of Killing Kurd Leader – Trying to Trigger Civil War in Syria

=========================
Murderous gambit aimed at provoking Kurdish militants – who have until now stayed out of US-backed unrest in Syria.
by Tony Cartalucci

October 10, 2011 - Turkey a NATO member, and notorious butchers of the Kurdish people not only within their borders but well beyond them, including multiple incursions into Iraq in 2007, 2008, and 2010, with tank battalions as well as air strikes on “suspected” militant targets on both sides of the border, has played a role in the assassination of Syrian-Kurdish leader Mashaal Tammo according to Kurdish activists. Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that Kurdish Party leaders accused Turkish intelligence of assassinating Tammo, aiming to ignite sedition throughout the northern province of Hasaka. Hasaka Province conveniently shares a borders with Turkey – a border Turkey has systematically militarized in its decades long war against the Kurdish people. It is also a border Turkey is now conducting “military exercises” along in an overt threat to Syria, Voice of America reports. Turkey and its Western sponsors are now hoping the resulting chaos will trigger an armed Kurdish uprising in Syria against the Assad government and be the “tipping point” in an otherwise stalled 7 month-long destabilization attempt.

The assassination was also complemented by mystery gunmen who opportunistically attacked Tammo’s funeral procession, killing several attendees and further provoking Syria’s Kurd minority to rise up in violence. Details of the shootings were filtered through the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a notorious propaganda front whose second-hand reports are faithfully repeated by Western media outlets as “fact.” The expediency with which propagandists at BBC and the US State Department concluded the shootings were the work of the Syrian government further lends suspicion over who indeed carried out the assassination and the subsequent shootings at Tammo’s funeral – a dream scenario for Western nations bent on ousting Assad by collapsing Syrian society into a Libyan-style civil war.

It should be noted, that out of Syria’s opposition movement, Mashaal Tammo was one of the few leaders opposing foreign meddling in Syria’s affairs, going as far as not attending an opposition confab held in Turkey on this basis. It should be further noted that of all of Syria’s minorities, the Kurds have so far not joined in large scale protests. Western corporate-funded think tanks and media outlets have been fantasizing over the prospect of Kurdish militants joining the US-funded uprising, despite what, up until now, appeared to be their neutral stance. The Wall Street Journal’s “Kurds Look Beyond Assad, With Dreams of Autonomy” acknowledged the muted role the Kurds were playing in the uprising and their hesitation to make wider commitments. Tammo’s assassination may just have been the geopolitical ploy necessary to spur the Kurds past this point of hesitation.

After months of stalled, now failing armed opposition against the Syrian government through the Muslim Brotherhood and an assortment of Al-Qaeda linked militant groups, the West is exhibiting an almost palpable madness in pursuit of war with Syria. Western propaganda networks, including BBC, CNN, and Al Jazeera and contrived “human rights advocacy” fronts fully funded by corporate-financier special interests have been caught fabricating in whole, stories of atrocities being perpetrated by the Assad government. One activist reported by Soros-funded Amnesty International (page 10) to have been “brutally murdered in custody” turned up alive and well. Amnesty International would later reveal just how tenuous the information was behind what was essentially baseless, sensationalized propaganda aimed at the Syrian government. After a failed UN resolution, vetoed outright by Russia and China, and receiving no votes from other BRIC nations, more desperate measures are sure to follow, including the increasing prospect of unilateral military action taken by Turkey, on behalf of NATO and its corporate sponsors.

Welder goes into the Armageddon business

Riley Cook says from the recession, world political issues and natural disasters, a new idea to grind out business has been born.

"We decided to think outside the box," Cook said.

With few construction jobs lined up, they decided to spend their time getting into the Armageddon industry by building large, black, state-of-the-art disaster shelters.

The Idea is you place it deep underground, hide the air vents so they look like trees, and with grey, fresh water, sewage and fuel tanks nearby, get inside and survive about anything - if you have the money.

"The whole thing: tanks, shelter, digging the hole, we're looking at $350,000 to $400,000," Cook said.

It's pricey but does come with a lot of amenities. There are refrigerators, freezers and a kitchen with stove. There's a bathroom with a place to do laundry, all with room for four people. Plus you'll find communication radios, weather and air sensors and even camera's so you can see what's going on above you.

Impeach Eric Holder

Via Sipsey Street Irregulars

It's time for Congress to impeach Attorney General Eric Holder.

Congress may remove from office "all civil officers of the United States" if they are convicted of "treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors," the Constitution says (Article II, Section 4).

Only the House of Representatives can impeach, which is comparable to indictment. The official is then tried by the Senate, where a two-thirds vote is required for conviction.

The Constitution doesn't say what constitutes "high crimes and misdemeanors," but perjury surely is among them. So is obstruction of justice.

Mr. Holder told the House Judiciary Committee on May 3 that he had "probably" heard about the Gunwalker scandal "for the first time over the last few weeks."

On Monday, Sharyl Attkisson reported on CBS that "new documents obtained by CBS News show [Mr. Holder] was sent briefings on [Gunwalker] as far back as July 2010. That directly contradicts his statement to Congress."

Gunwalker involved the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives permitting more than 2,000 guns to "walk" across the border to Mexican drug cartels in a misbegotten effort to figure out where the cartels were getting weapons.

"Allowing loads of weapons that we knew to be destined for criminals, this was the plan," ATF Agent John Dodson testified June 15. "It was so mandated."

Among the guns were 34 .50-caliber sniper rifles, "approximately the number of sniper rifles a Marine infantry regiment takes into battle," noted ATF Agent Carlos Canino.

USA transition:)

Via dawn, Belle Grove

To the citizens of the United States of America from Her Sovereign Majesty Queen... Elizabeth II:

In light of your immediate failure to financially manage yourselves and also in recent years your tendency to elect incompetent Presidents of the USA and therefore not able to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective immediately. (You should look up 'revocation' in the Oxford English Dictionary.)

Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths, and territories (except Kansas , which she does not fancy).

Your new Prime Minister, David Cameron, will appoint a Governor for America without the need for further elections.

Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire may be circulated sometime next year to determine whether any of you noticed.:)!

To aid in the transition to a British Crown dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:

1. The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'colour,' 'favour,' 'labour' and 'neighbour.' Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters, and the suffix '-ize' will be replaced by the suffix '-ise.'Generally, you will be expected to raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. (look up 'vocabulary'). (I love that one)

Using the same twenty-seven words interspersed with filler noises such as ''like' and 'you know' is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. There is no such thing as U.S. English. We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell-checker will be adjusted to take into account the reinstated letter 'u'' and the elimination of '-ize.' ' (I love that one too)

3. July 4th will no longer be celebrated as a holiday.

4. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers, or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not quite ready to be independent. Guns should only be used for shooting grouse. If you can't sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist, then you're not ready to shoot grouse.

5. Therefore, you will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous than a vegetable peeler. Although a permit will be required if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.

6. All intersections will be replaced with roundabouts, and you will start driving on the left side with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Both roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour.

7. The former USA will adopt UK prices on petrol (which you have been calling gasoline) of roughly $10/US gallon. Get used to it.)

8.You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call French fries are not real chips, and those things you insist on calling potato chips are properly called crisps. Real chips are thick cut, fried in animal fat, and dressed not with catsup but with vinegar.

9. The cold, tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer is not actually beer at all. Henceforth, only proper British Bitter will be referred to as beer, and European brews of known and accepted provenance will be referred to as Lager. New Zealand beer is also acceptable, as New Zealand is pound for pound the greatest sporting nation on earth and it can only be due to the beer. They are also part of the British Commonwealth - see what it did for them. American brands will be referred to as Near-Frozen Gnat's Urine, so that all can be sold without risk of further confusion.

10. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as good guys. Hollywood will also be required to cast English actors to play English characters. Watching Andie Macdowell attempt English dialogue in Four Weddings and a Funeral was an experience akin to having one's ears removed with a cheese grater.

11. You will cease playing American football. There are only two kinds of proper football; one you call soccer, and rugby (dominated by the New Zealanders). Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which has some similarities to American football, but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like a bunch of nancies).

12. Further, you will stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the World Series for a game which is not played outside of America . Since only 2.1% of you are aware there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. You will learn cricket, and we will let you face the Australians (World dominators) first to take the sting out of their deliveries.

13. You must tell us who killed JFK. It's been driving us mad.

14. An internal revenue agent (i.e. tax collector) from Her Majesty's Government will be with you shortly to ensure the acquisition of all monies due (backdated to 1776).

15. Daily Tea Time begins promptly at 4 p.m. with proper cups, with saucers, and never mugs, with high quality biscuits (cookies) and cakes; plus strawberries (with cream) when in season.

WH Jobs Czar: tax cuts 'will create jobs'

Jeffrey Immelt, CEO of General Electric and President Obama's "jobs czar," criticized the current American tax system while apparently opposing President Obama's call for tax increases to pay for jobs spending.

According to a preview of his interview with "60 Minutes" on CBS, airing this Sunday, Immelt recommended a tax code like that found in some European countries

I think we should have basically the same tax policy that Germany, Japan, the UK - everybody else has, which is a tax rate in the mid-20s and no loopholes. Zero," he tells Stahl. "The U.S. has the most antiquated tax system. And that means some people are going to pay more taxes, and some people are going to pay less," Immelt says.

By mentioning the "mid-20s" tax rate, Immelt seems to endorse former President Bill Clinton's suggestion that the United States corporate rate be cut. "We should cut the [corporate tax] rate to 25 percent, or whatever’s competitive, and eliminate a lot of the deductions so that we still get a fair amount," Clinton said in July.

Predicting a Second Violent Struggle

Reminiscent of Jefferson Davis, the author below predicts another rise of State authority to resist a centralizing imperial government. At the end of the war a fellow traveler remarked that the cause of the Confederates was lost. He replied: “It appears so. But the principle for which we contended is bound to reassert itself, though it may be at another time and in another form.” Commenting on the end of the Founders’ republic, Davis stated in 1881 “Of what value then are paper constitutions and oaths binding officers to their preservation, if there is not intelligence enough in the people to discern the violations; and virtue enough to resist the violators?”

Predicting a Second Violent Struggle:

“The theory that the late Civil War was a mere insurrectionary movement can deceive no one now. The fact that the secession of the Southern States divided the American Union into two separate Federal Republics, cannot be destroyed by the counter-fact that the Union has been restored. The judgment of every foreign power declared that for four years a de facto Government at Richmond, which was wholly independent of the power and control of the Congress at Washington, and every department of the United States Government confirmed that judgment by practical acts of recognition.

The Union founded by Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, and the other “Fathers,” was a Federal Republic, that is to say, it was a Government constituted of several Constituent Republics, which were united by agreement or compact between themselves as distinct and separate States. That Union proved to be inadequate to the exigencies of the conflicting forces to which it was exposed. It resisted several severe strains, and was maintained by one or more compromises, which served to demonstrate its imperfection and inherent weakness.

In 1861 the disintegrating forces prevailed, and eleven of the Constituent Republics withdrew from the Union on the plea that the original conditions of the Union had been broken by the others, and they formed a fresh confederation among themselves.

The remaining States or Republics resisted that act of separation and affirmed that the people of the whole United States were, or should be fused into, one nation, and that the division of the Union into States had, or should hereafter be, no greater political significance than the division of the several States into counties.

The States which remained in the original Union…proved to be stronger than those which clung to the opinions of the “Fathers,” and they succeeded, after a long and bloody war, in compelling the latter to admit that “the people of the United States” meant the aggregate population of all the States, and that the majority, as represented in the Congress at Washington, was the true and only Sovereign of the whole country, irrespective of geographical State lines or separate State Constitutions. I am broaching no theory, but am simply stating facts.

The Union of 1787 was dissolved in 1861 by the acts of ten of the constituent republics. A new Union was formed in 1865 by the military power of the majority of the States, compelling the minority to accept their view of the national compact. The former Union was a confederation of States, and was of course a Federal Republic; the latter Union is founded upon a fusion of the people into one nation, with a supreme centralized executive and administrative Government at Washington…it has become an Imperial Republic.

[W]hatever may happen in the distant and inscrutable future, it may be safely predicted, that if there should be a second violent struggle for “State rights,” the issue will be fought on very different geographical lines from those which separated the contending parties in the Civil War.”

Ron Paul: I’m Not Going to Kowtow to the Latino Vote

Via Nancy

A wonderfully honest man.

The Note
VERBATIM QUOTE
======================

Rep. Ron Paul gave a sneak peak into how his administration would handle illegal immigrants, telling a Spanish language news program, I’m not going to kowtow to Latino voters.

Paul, appearing on Univision’s Sunday morning politics show “Al Punto,” said that illegal immigrants shouldn’t be given any special route to citizenship. Paul instead suggested the possibility of their earning a work permit to fold them into the American legal system.

“If everyone who comes illegally is automatically given citizenship, a vote, and can apply for welfare, that would not be good format because we would have more of it,” said Paul.

Paul also offered a different interpretation of the 14th amendment, adding that children of illegal immigrants are not under the jurisdiction of U.S. law and thus should not be given automatic citizenship.

He also shrugged off any worries that his message might not appeal to Latino voters who are concerned about immigration reform.

“If you think I need to have a different message for Hispanics than I do for other people, I think that’s unnecessary,” said Paul. “I don’t want to punish anyone who belongs to a special group, and nobody should get special privilege either.”

Democrats and the New Slavery

Godfather Politics
VERBATIM POST
===========================

Harry Reid has described opponents of the controversial government healthcare bill as equivalent to those who opposed an immediate end to slavery. “You think you’ve heard these same excuses before? You’re right,” Reid said. “In this country there were those who dug in their heels and said, ‘Slow down, it’s too early. Let’s wait. Things aren’t bad enough’ — about slavery.” The anti-slavery forces wanted to speed things up, so much so that they believed and promoted the view that a war might solve the problem more quickly.

There is no debate over healthcare reform, but there is a debate on how best to achieve it. The answer is not more government intervention. We know what happened when the government tried to solve the slavery issue just so some of slavery’s opponents could say they fixed slavery. They fixed it in principle, but they made long-standing messes that we still have to endure and pay for. One Tea Party sign says it all: “Congress is ENSLAVING our CHILDREN with DEBT!”

The let’s-fix it-now-crowd, no matter what the long-term consequences, was willing to go to war over slavery. I know that the “Civil War” was not solely fought over slavery, but the hagiographical works on Abraham Lincoln make a case for it. Slavery needed to be outlawed in the United States as it was in England, but without a war. If people had slowed down, maybe we could have averted some of the unintended consequences like these “Civil War” statistics:

At least 618,000 Americans died in the Civil War, and some experts say the toll reached 700,000. The number that is most often quoted is 620,000. At any rate, these casualties exceed the nation’s loss in all its other wars, from the Revolution through Vietnam. The Union armies had from 2,500,000 to 2,750,000 men.

The so-called Reconstruction of the South sowed the seeds of future racial conflict, so much so that racial prejudice in the South increased rather than decreased. Racial segregation replaced slavery, and programs instituted during the Great Society era during Lyndon Johnson’s administration created a form of government sponsored dependency similar to southern plantation living.

With this history in mind, slowing down is not always a bad thing, especially when the nation’s financial future is at stake. Consider the debt load piled up since the enactment of Social Security. In 1977 the tax rate on SS was hiked in phases from 4% to 12.4% (employee and employer “contributions”), and the upper level of income taxed is now around $105,000 per year, a combined tax total of more than $12,000 per year for someone on the high end of the salary scale. This is a far cry from the original two percent (employee and employer portions) on $3000 per year, a total of $60. Medicare is in a similar fiscal hole.

Government programs are always presented as a panacea that will in the end save money. There isn’t a single government program that ever lived up to its budget projections. Obamacare won’t be any different. The 2012 election may be our last chance to dump the program.

Pressure Grows for Holder's Resignation; Subpoenas Threatened

Pressure is intensifying rapidly for the resignation of Attorney General Eric Holder over the fatally flawed Operation Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal — with Rep. Paul Gosar demanding that Holder quit immediately and Arizona sheriffs saying he should be fired if he won’t resign.

Gosar, an Arizona Republican, issued the call for Holder’s resignation on “Fox and Friends” today.

Meanwhile, Rep. Darrell Issa said on “Fox News Sunday” that his House Oversight and Government Reform Committee may issue subpoenas against top Justice Department officials as early as this week over the controversial Operation Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal. The California Republican indicated that some government actions in the Fast and Furious scheme of the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) could have been felonious.

Arizona sheriffs would welcome such subpoenas, as they called Friday not only for Holder to step down or be fired but also for President Barack Obama to instigate an independent investigation into the controversy.

And U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, who has been dogging Fast and Furious along with Issa, maintains that Holder is stonewalling their investigations — and he’s tired of it. I always tell every agency . . . that I have been investigating, the longer you stonewall, when the truth comes out, the more egg you are going to have on your face,” the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee told Newsmax last week.

I’ve continued to monitor the Occupy Wall Street protest since its first day in New York. As of today the protests are taking place in other cities around the country. But as I mentioned on twitter on Day One of the protest, this first year of protests won’t amount to much as far as actual long term impact.

To make a long explanation short the puppet-masters behind the birkenstocks on the ground really weren’t ready to take this movement nationwide. The time isn’t right and they know it. The people on the front-lines might be underemployed, but they aren’t hungry yet in the literal sense. (They will be in a few years). However, the protests are a great way for the first generation of elderly trasnantionalists orchestrating things behind the scenes to measure the masses of youth on the streets and determine from among them who might be appropriate for future middle management positions.

Out of the five pictures below, who do you think might get a promotion?

Homeland Security moves forward with 'pre-crime' detection

An internal U.S. Department of Homeland Security document indicates that a controversial program designed to predict whether a person will commit a crime is already being tested on some members of the public voluntarily, CNET has learned.

If this sounds a bit like the Tom Cruise movie called “Minority Report,” or the CBS drama “Person of Interest,” it is. But where “Minority Report” author Philip K. Dick enlisted psychics to predict crimes, DHS is betting on algorithms: it’s building a “prototype screening facility” that it hopes will use factors such as ethnicity, gender, breathing, and heart rate to “detect cues indicative of mal-intent.”

FAST is designed to track and monitor, among other inputs, body movements, voice pitch changes, prosody changes (alterations in the rhythm and intonation of speech), eye movements, body heat changes, and breathing patterns. Occupation and age are also considered. A government source told CNET that blink rate and pupil variation are measured too.

Gunwalker weapons were found in Mexico cartel enforcer's home

Via Sipsey Street Irregulars

High-powered assault weapons illegally purchased under the ATF's Fast and Furious program in Phoenix ended up in a home belonging to the purported top Sinaloa cartel enforcer in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, whose organization was terrorizing that city with the worst violence in the Mexican drug wars.

In all, 100 assault weapons acquired under Fast and Furious were transported 350 miles from Phoenix to El Paso, making that West Texas city a central hub for gun traffickers. Forty of the weapons made it across the border and into the arsenal of Jose Antonio Torres Marrufo, a feared cartel leader in Ciudad Juarez, according to federal court records and trace documents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The smugglers' tactics — quickly moving the weapons far from ATF agents in southern Arizona, where it had been assumed they would circulate — vividly demonstrate that what had been viewed as a local problem was much larger. Six other Fast and Furious guns destined for El Paso were recovered in Columbus, N.M.

"These Fast and Furious guns were going to Sinaloans, and they are killing everyone down there," said one knowledgeable U.S. government source, who asked for anonymity because of the ongoing investigations. "But that's only how many we know came through Texas. Hundreds more had to get through."

Torres Marrufo, also known as "the Jaguar," has been identified by U.S. authorities as the enforcer for Sinaloa cartel chieftain Joaquin "Chapo" Guzman. The Fast and Furious weapons were found at one of Torres Marrufo's homes April 30 when Mexican police inspected the property. It was unoccupied but "showed signs of recent activity," they said.

An American Letter on the War of Terror

The recent murder of American Anwar al-Awlaki is an outrage. One wishes he were not an American. Were I in charge he never would have been an American. According to old Western notions he will never be considered an American. Yet technically at least, he was an American. Therein lies the rub.

I have no qualms with swift justice nor the death penalty. But even his accusers admit that at most he had extraordinarily dubious links to one actual crime. At worst, he was done away with because his inflammatory speeches inspired others. In other words, he was an American exercising his First Amendment freedoms in a way Washington did not approve.

Al-Awlaki was eradicated entirely without formal charges, absent legal proof, and sans judicial review. The people telling us he deserved death are the very ones who killed him. Doing such things to anyone was an offense before, but the fact that al-Awlaki was a US citizen makes examining the matter imperative for his fellow Americans—especially since America is currently one of the few mostly free lands on Earth, though that is apparently on the cusp of changing.

Sadly some commentators, even those whom the author otherwise respects, have succumbed to murky thinking on the matter. They say that being a terrorist is the same as being an enemy combatant. Since we are at war with terrorism, we are at war with these people, and they should expect to be killed.

“Al-Awlaki was eradicated entirely without formal charges, absent legal proof, and sans judicial review. The people telling us he deserved death are the very ones who killed him.”

Not quite so fast.

The fatal flaw in this analysis is that in every prior “war” the enemy was a government, or parties acting in the service of one. By contrast, “al-Qaeda“ is an extremely loose confederation of like-minded individuals. The enemies are not a constituted body, but simply shifting parties embroiled in regional quarrels or otherwise dissenters to Washington’s prevailing opinions. They are sometimes violent in their objections, but not always.

The fact that there are several overtly nationalist groups whose sphere of concern scarcely extends beyond their traditional sovereign territories—yet who are invariably described as being “al-Qaeda”—further clouds the issue. Is a group in Qatar which seeks to topple their autocratic government a member of “al-Qaeda” because they disagree with Washington and also happen to be Muslim? It would seem so, at least according to Washington’s definition. Meanwhile, similar people in Libya—some of whom held the virtual rank of general in constituted bodies who officially named themselves “al-Qaeda” affiliates—are not actually “al-Qaeda” members according to Washington.

All of this results in a near-comic opera of tragedy in which those who may not even be aware of such an organization are decried as belonging to it and then assassinated.

Washington declared war not on Afghanistan but on “al-Qaeda” because terror is a tactic and not an entity. Thus, it can never be defeated any more than a “War on Sneak Attacks” can be.

Washington is therefore engaged in a war it (by design) can never win and it (most profitably for the profiteers) will never end.

Worse—if there can be a worse—is that anyone who dissents is a “sympathizer” and anyone who protests is a “provocateur,” and anyone who points it all out is a “propagandist.” Indeed, the hydra that is Washington was deadly serious when it stated you are either with it or against it.

Yesterday Washington was against Afghanistan and Iraq. Today it is against Pakistan and Yemen. Tomorrow it will be against wherever there are poor people to be bombed and money to be made off their charred corpses.
