Sore Losers & Sore Winners

Taki's Magazine

VERBATIM POST

=========

A hallelujah chorus of joyous whoops and hollers erupted from a audience described as “mostly African Americans” as the Texas DMV voted on Thursday to reject a license-plate proposal by the Sons of Confederate Veterans. After hours of hearing what was said to be “emotional testimony” wherein “passions ran high,” the DMV’s board, all of its members appointed by dodo-brained presidential candidate Governor Rick Perry, voted 8-0 to reject a license-plate design that would have featured a square Confederate battle flag occupying roughly five percent of the overall plate’s area.

Back in April, essentially the same Texas DMV board (one member died and was replaced) split their vote 4-4 on whether to approve the Rebel license plate. Having recently survived his “Niggerhead” scandal, it is thought that the shape-shifting reptilian Perry instructed his minions to nix the license plate because he didn’t want to worsen his numerous displays of public retardation in the GOP debates with further accusations of racism. So this time around, the panel’s vote against the Confederate image was unanimous.

“Some are commanded to get over it, while others are instructed to never forget.”

The Sons of Confederate Veterans, whose website features a small man in a Rebel outfit who startles the unsuspecting viewer when he suddenly appears and starts speaking to you once the page loads, have already had their logo approved on license plates in nine formerly Confederate states. They were forced to sue to win the right to do so in Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina. They are now vowing to sue the state of Texas for the right to have specialty plates featuring what is described as a “baseball-sized” image of the Rebel battle flag.

Speaking before the US House of Representatives on October 11, the barely sentient Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee bloviated her hippo-shaped head off as she pled with Governor Perry to speak to his “higher angels” and reject the license-plate design featuring what she twice referred to as a “HEEN-ee-iss” symbol of hatred, bigotry, brutality, lynching, shattered families, and that old chronologically impossible canard about “four hundred years” of slavery. (We believe that “HEEN-ee-iss” is suppposed to be the word “heinous”; you can hear Ms. Jackson-Lee pronounce it HERE. You can also hear her talk about how the Confederates “opted to succeed [sic] from the Union.” It’s quite a fun and instructive clip.)

Aiding and abetting Ms. Jackson-Lee were the usual ducks all lined up in a row, quacking about hatred and racism and bigotry and lynching and prejudice and intimidation and violence and bondage and fear. There was talk of shamefulness, of hurtfulness, of offensiveness. Texas State NAACP Conference president Gary Bledsoe, apparently a mover and shaker in some organization devoted to colored people, declared without flinching: “We know that flag is a true symbol of hate.” He also cautioned that it would be ill-advised for the state to project an image to outsiders that “we are a bunch of country bumpkins.” No, Mr. Texas Colored Person, we sure wouldn’t want to do that. Also coming out to voice her support of the license-plate ban was Texas State Representative Senfronia Thompson, whom we mention primarily because her name is “Senfronia.”

Legion are those naïve enough to swallow the popular narrative that all of Southern history can be compressed into a microdot of psychopathic raging evil. Even if one is sufficiently ill-informed to believe the War Between the States was entirely about slavery and had nothing to do with, oh, economic and political control, it would still mean that somewhere in the ballpark of 600K young pale peckerwoods gave their lives to free the slaves. But that apparently wasn’t enough of a sacrifice, so don’t you knuckle-dragging redneck throwbacks even suggest mourning your fallen ancestors.

To be fair, the official Texas declaration of secession from 1861 features highly impolite passages about “Indian savages” and “the debasing doctrine of equality of all men” and how the states were “established exclusively by the white race” and how Africans should be “regarded as an inferior and dependent race” and other sorts of things you won’t hear on many sitcoms these days.

In their frothily Pavlovian mission to extinguish anything that stinks of “racism,” the faceless hordes of online prog keyboard-peckers are exulting in this latest defeat for Dixie, rubbing their noses in how they lost again and it was 150 years ago and they need to get over it and get a life and get a grip and give it up, and for Christ’s sake, you sore losers, quit acting all butt-hurt and take your medicine—YOU LOST!

Funny how you never hear them lecturing the so-called Native Americans about how they’re bitter losers who should just get over it. You won’t hear them scolding the descendants of African tribesmen whose ancestors didn’t put up a very impressive fight when European slave-traders alighted on their shores. After all, black slavery ended with the Civil War, did it not? So can we, like, GET OVER that whole slavery thing, too? If the Civil War was about slavery, then the slaves won, so can their descendants maybe quit acting like sore winners?

Apparently not, at least if the powers that be have chosen you as a runway model in the pity parade.

On the day they shot down the Rebel license plate, the same DMV panel approved a plate honoring the Buffalo Soldiers, all-black cavalry units who played a big hand in the systematic slaughter, torture, and clearing-out of the “Indian savages” mentioned in the Texas secession declaration.

So the winners not only get to write history and dictate the narrative and wallow in their ancestors’ suffering—they get the license plates, too. History is funny that way. Some are commanded to get over it, while others are instructed to never forget.

California’s Schools’ Idea of a Role Model: A Porn Star

Godfather Politics

VERBATIM POST

========

California apparently is running out of heroes who can serve as role models for its public-schooled children. It’s must be lacking veterans, inventors, scientists, artists, writers, political activists, architects, etc., that could be invited by school principals and read or talk to the children. There can be no other explanation for the decision of a school district in California to invite the porn star Sasha Grey to read to the children as part of the Read Across America program, designed to “designed to promote literacy and instill a lifelong love of reading.” Uh huh. A porn star. After all, it takes a lot of reading to grow in the career of a porn star. And a lot of perspicacity too, to say nothing of the perspiration involved, which means a high level of work ethic. The children can certainly learn from the success of such an important person, and the school officials are there to provide such indispensable life experience lesson for them.

May be the children don’t know who Sasha Grey is. But having an adult person visit their class and reading to them (I thought love of reading happens when the child himself reads, not when someone else reads for them) will certainly leave its mark on the child’s impressionable mind. He can then go home and google-image Sasha Grey on the home computer. Or, rather, on the computers in the school library in case his parents are of the oppressive old-fashioned bigot type that has a porn blocking program at their home; schools in California are far ahead of the parents and are liberated about porn. And when a child finds out who Sasha Grey is – if he doesn’t already know from the sex-ed classes that progressive California offers in its schools – he will form an opinion about porn. Positive and favorable opinion, of course. After all, the hot Missy that read to him in class was invited by the school authorities; her profession can’t be that bad. Or, if the student is a girl, she will have another option to add to her career choices, one that is important and honorable enough to deserve being invited to be a role model for school children.

Of course, the school authorities are aware of the hopeless backwardness of the parents, that they won’t appreciate the service rendered to their children by the schools. May be that’s why when asked about the presence of a porn star in a school in the district, a spokesman for the school district flatly lied and denied that “the actress you indicated” was ever present. Too clumsy a lie. The picture was already parading on the Internet when the schools’ representative was telling the lie. So much for expecting moral integrity of school bureaucrats. (I wonder if a child can cheat at exams at those schools and get away with it just as the school authorities did.) Neither did any signs of remorse come from the schools for either the lie or for the invitation of such a role model for the kids.

I said above that apparently California is running out of real role models like veterans, inventors, architects, etc., if the schools are forced to resort to inviting porn stars. On a second thought, may be not. California has enough role models. But they must be too moral in an old-fashioned way – loyal, industrious, intelligent, innovative, hard-working, future-oriented – for the educational bureaucrats to allow them in the schools. After all, the government school systems is all about avoiding the creation of an educated and intelligent elite, and such people are indeed a true elite. Government bureaucrats can’t afford to present those people as role models. But a porn star – why, what is more appropriate than that for the agenda of the educational liberals.

With all this, Christian parents still continue sending their children to government schools. I am sure, if you ask around, there would be at least a dozen of Christian kids in that school that would vehemently argue that “our school is different.” Indeed, it is. It had Sasha Grey as a guest reader, after all. Next time it may have her in a school pageant, in all her glory. She is a professional, after all.

Union Extortion (Unbelievable)

Via III Percent Patriots
In the State of Michigan, if you are taking Medicaid from the state to care for a disabled adult child, you are declared an employee of the state and a member of the Service Employees International Union, SEIU, and dues are deducted from your Medicaid payment.

You have no choice, no vote, no input whatsoever.
Robert and Patricia Haynes live in Michigan with their two adult children, who have cerebral palsy. The state government provides the family with insurance through Medicaid, but also treats them as caregivers. For the SEIU, this makes them public employees and thus members of the union, which receives $30 out of the family's monthly Medicaid subsidy. The Michigan Quality Community Care Council (MQC3) deducts union dues on behalf of SEIU.
Initiated in 2006 under then-Gov. Jennifer Granholm, D-Mich., the plan reportedly provides the SEIU with $6 million annually in union dues deducted from those Medicaid subsidies.

Immigrant complains about German worker’s Confederate shirt

Not backing down

A Facebook friend from Germany, Sven, yesterday wrote of an exchange with an African immigrant who objected to the Confederate symbol on his clothing (pictured below).

Today, I came in my work, I wore my “Old Dixie” Polo shirt. I started to work, suddenly a African comes to me and said “You are wearing a racist flag on your shirt,” are you a racist ? And I said “If you hate this flag, you need a history lesson.” The African complained to my boss, and Monday I have a meeting with my boss. I hope I’m not fired…. And this in Germany! However, I will not disown my Southern friends and my beloved Dixieland!

Family of Murdered Border Agent Breaks Silence, Lashes Out at Holder

Via Sipsey Street Irregulars

Holder = POS
========

Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry died almost one year ago. Despite almost daily headlines about the ongoing scandal in the Obama administration, his devastated parents have said nothing publicly about the U.S. program that helped provide the weapons that killed their son.

Until now.

In separate interviews, Josephine and Kent Terry lashed out Thursday at those they blame for Brian's murder -- Attorney General Eric Holder, his top assistant Lanny Breuer, former U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke, and those ATF officials who approved, executed and supervised Operation Fast and Furious.

"I think they are liars and I would tell them that," said Kent Terry from his home in central Michigan. "What would I say to Eric Holder? They would not be nice words."

Terry is in his 70's, paralyzed and bound to a chair after an accident 17 years ago. His former wife Josephine lives 90 minutes north near Detroit.

"If they never let the guns walk, maybe Brian would not have been out that day," Josephine said. "I just can't believe our own government came up with a program like this that (let) innocent people get killed."

The Terrys watched Holder's appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. Asked if he wanted to apologize to the family, Holder declined, saying only he regretted what happened.

"That shows what kind of a person he is," Kent lamented. "To me, he is not much of a person. I don't know if he has a son. But if he lost his, he would think different."

"I sat in a chair and cried," Josephine said. "It was so inhumane. An apology to anybody means at least they are trying to fix it. He didn't."

-Because his Mom called and said, “It’s time to come home, honey.”

-Because ‘Ketchup’ broke her glasses during a fit of righteous crying and had to go to Lynz-Krafterz

-Because some radicals thought “free love” meant “unsolicited surprise sex”

-Because three homeless guys were occupying his tent "Help, police..."

-Because a few "more-equal-than-thous" (aka, Party people) appropriated [sic, smoked up] his stach for the Greater Good™ -- he had to score another bag of kind bud

Obama: Bonuses obscene, but approves $13 million more

Godfather Politics

VERBATIM POST

=========

A little less than two years ago, Obama, still in his self-confident propaganda mood, commented on the lavish bonuses that Wall Street banks were giving their own executives. The bonuses were “obscene,” Obama said, and therefore there was a need for a tax on banks. “We want our money back,” said Obama, meaning, of course, he wanted the Federal government to take for itself the money that the banks had taken from their clients and the Federal Reserve. He didn’t mean, of course, that the money will be returned to those that worked hard for them; God forbid that an avowed socialist would return tax money to the tax-payers. The banks’ bonuses were used only as another propaganda line for promoting more socialism.

This last week, it became known, Obama’s own administration approved $13 million for the executives of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as “performance bonuses.”

The same Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac who were solely responsible for the mortgage crisis mayhem of the last two years by giving away hundreds of billions of tax-payers’ dollars to sub-prime loaners – thus driving the prices up and creating the housing bubble which burst in 2008. The same Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that screwed things up so badly that they needed a bailout of $170 billion of tax-payers’ money to keep afloat and keep spending money on people who can never and will never repay it; and according to the FHFA report of October 2010, will need a total of $360 billion – tax-payers’ money again – to get above the water. The same Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that have a history in the last 10 years of shamelessly lying about their earnings, of deceiving Federal regulators and the public about their operations and true performance, of deliberately suppressing any attempts by investigators to get into the true nature of what these two government companies are actually doing at the expense of the American people.

For these amazing feats, the executives of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac deserve $13 million of bonuses, Obama’s own administration declared. Apparently, Obama believes, those two companies have done a good job, and their executives deserve a good reward. After all, who can create such a serious financial and debt crisis using only home mortgages. “Ingenious” is the best word to describe the record of these executives.

While the housing market is struggling to recover from the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s expert intervention, and hundreds of thousands of construction workers are without jobs as a consequence of the immoral business practices of these two companies, Obama has forgotten his rant about “obscene bonuses.” When its for his own coterie, bonuses are okay, even for dismal performance records.

Not that we didn’t expect that from Obama.

But this must teach us an important truth: The next Republican President must dissolve these two companies, and save America from the plague of the Federal government involvement in the housing market. Or in any market whatsoever. When we allow the Federal government intervene on the market, we can only expect corruption, immoral business practices, wasting tax-payers’ money to favor private economic and political interests, and economic recessions. The earlier these two agencies get eliminated, the better for the housing market.

And we need to make sure we press the Republican candidates on that issue. We don’t need a Republican President who will only continue the socialist policy of using tax-payers’ money to destroy the free market and serve private interests at the expense of the American people.

170 Members of English Defence League Arrested Near Cenotaph in London
More than 170 members of the right-wing English Defence League (EDL) have been arrested near an Armistice Day ceremony in central London amid fears they were trying to target anti-capitalists camped in the city.

Scotland Yard said the group were detained “to prevent a breach of the peace” at a pub near the Cenotaph in Whitehall.

A police source said it was believed the group were heading towards the anti-capitalist “Occupy” protest camp outside St Paul’s Cathedral, set up last month after being inspired by the “Occupy Wall Street” movement.
That is, the EDL people were arrested because, in the esteemed judgment of Scotland Yard, they just might do something bad when they encountered the legions of the unwashed in front of St. Paul’s.

The Met acknowledged that no member of the EDL had broken the law or done anything violent:
“170+ supporters of EDL were arrested this p.m. to prevent a breach of the peace,” the Met Police said on its Twitter website. “No reported disorder between opposing groups at this stage.”
The screen shot at the top of this post was taken from the video that accompanied the Telegraph news article. If you watch the old fellow in the video being dragged off by the cops, you’ll notice that he seems to be virtually unconscious, and not at all well.

There’s a first-hand account of police harassment near the Cenotaph at the EDL website.

According to a BBC report, the arrests were made under a provision of the Terrorism Act. That is, laws that were designed to be used against people who intend to stage another 7/7 attack (or worse) are instead being used against indigenous English people who have done nothing wrong and are planning no kind of “terrorism” whatsoever.

That’s what happens whenever anti-terrorism laws are passed. Their provisions are so sweeping that invoking them for domestic political reasons becomes all but irresistible for the ruling class. The same is true of the Patriot Act here in the USA — all those rumblings about “right-wing extremists” began long before Obama, during the administration of a supposedly conservative president.

Finally, notice that the The Daily Mail makes sure to emphasize how dangerous those EDL guys are. After all, they “clashed” with violent Muslims (and police) in the past:
Trouble flared on Armistice Day last year when the far-right group clashed with Islamic protesters after members of Muslims Against Crusades burned poppies outside the Royal Albert Hall.

EDL founder Stephen Lennon was later charged with assaulting a police officer and five others associated with the group were arrested.
That’s their story, and they’re sticking to it.

It’s easy to understand why the authorities had to crack down on the EDL today. After breaking up MAC yesterday, if they didn’t come after the English patriots today, they would have been pilloried for “discrimination” against Muslims.

Ron Paul Third Party?

Conservative Heritage Times
VERBATIM POST
=========

Patroon

Just as sure as one can be of the sun rising in the morning, one can be sure the political media will ask Ron Paul if he going to make a “third party” bid for the White House. Some media commentators seem obsessed with this possibility (while others seem just obsessed with Ron Paul period.) largely because he’s done it once before in his first bid for the White House as the Libertarian Party nominee.

Which is precisely why he’s being sincere when he says he doesn’t want to do it again because he knows how hard it is to get on the ballot in all 50 states, (even with a mid-major party nomination) how hard it is to raise money and how hard it is to get media attention (you’ve think you’ve seen blackouts now?). Ron Paul knows all of this which is why he keeps saying he has “no intention” nor plans of doing so. Apparently some journalists have forgotten the meaning of the word “no”.

So why not take no for an answer? My guess is many in the political media would love to see such a run if only to enliven a Obama-Romney snoozefest if that’s what it came down to and perhaps some sympathetically see an independent campaign as perhaps the best means of getting Paul’s message to the voters even if the facst show he’s gained far more attention for his views running for the GOP nomination than he ever would as an independent.

Still, this will be Ron Paul’s last campaign and while it is in a stronger position and far better organized than it was at this time four years ago, the fact his poll numbers remain consistent but stagnant while charlatans, fools, and the “Not-Ready-For-Prime-Time-Players” that make up the GOP Presidential candidate field leap ahead of him the polls of likely Republican voters as the media’s “flavor-of-the-month” indicate and old truism about dogs and dogfood. If they don’t like it, for whatever reason, they will not eat it no matter how much money you put into advertising, product marketing and development. And an independent campaign is also tempting when the first poll of such a match-up (Obama-Romney-Paul) showed Paul at 18 percent to start off with. Not bad.

But if Paul were to make such a jump it cannot be an “independent campaign”. It cannot be a vanity run or the act of a spoiler. It can’t be something forgotten about years later like John Anderson in 1980 or Ross Perot in 1992. For his last campaign Ron Paul has to leave something substantial behind, especially for the many young persons who support his campaign. It has to be an actual campaign of a third party, meaning that Ron Paul has to create a new major party as its legacy, not just another minor one.

For this to happen several standards (and very high standards) have to be achieved to make this new party both feasible and credible. They are as follows:

1). Paul has to average 15 percent of the vote in GOP primaries and caucuses. Anything less will not cut it for voters outside the party with the base first and foremost. Gaining eight percent in Iowa for example in the caucuses would make such a bid pointless.

2). Such a party must included elected officials, which means Sen. Rand Paul has to be a member along with Congressmen like Walter Jones Jr. or Justin Amash or Mike Lee. Any non-major party bid puts Rand’s political future at risk and if he’s not a part of the new party, it doesn’t work.

3). It has to include more persons than just disgruntled Republicans. Bringing along Ralph Nader and Dennis Kucinich for example would give it more credibility to a broader swath of voters and encourage others who aren’t cultural Republicans to join. U.S. are not parliamentary parties and never were intended to be. They were meant to be factions of voters brought together by a few uniting issues.

4). It needs at least three or four guiding principals all of its members can agree with. And these can be ideological or cultural or what have you. But it needs a centrifugal force to keep the party together. The Reform Party, the last attempt at building a third major party, failed because no one could figure out what those principals were which united a quite diverse group ranging from Pat Buchanan to Lenora Fulani. Instead the divisiveness within the party became a battle for power and with it control for a huge pot of Federal matching funds which turned a lot of people away from it.

What those principles would be I’m not going to speculate too much. Certainly a broad belief in civil liberties, decentralization, End the Fed, localism, changing U.S. foreign policy and reducing the military-industrial complex would be a start. I think such a party could stand on a platform which reduces the size of the federal government and allows for power to the people where they live to determine their own lives is one a party like this could stand upright on. A party which respects the regional and cultural differences within the country instead of the “BE LIKE US OR ELSE!” mentality of modern liberals and conservatives might entice voters who have said time and time again in polls they want another major party to vote for.

Such a party probably wouldn’t win in 2012 but if it could emerge with a good stable of public office holders and spend the next four years organizing and increasing its strength, making itself ready for 2014 and 2016, then such a party could establish itself with a significant section of voters not strongly tied to either party. These are big “coulds” but given the current upheaval in world and the U.S., voters would certainly be more attentive to such a message than they were in the more placid mid and late 90s when the Reform Party floundered.

I don’t believe Ron Paul completely closed on a third party campaign, maybe it’s because of a similar mind: No more vanity campaigns, no more campaigns with pure ideologically based parties. The only third party run for the White House worth making is a run that actually goes somewhere.

Israel 2011 Part 2

My purpose for writing this series of articles is to help my readers have a better understanding of the state of Israel, the global political conundrum they find themselves in and the danger and inconvenience they deal with as a part of their daily lives.

There is no way you can document the history and perseverance of the Israeli people without mentioning the incredible suffering they have endured for millennia. The city of Jerusalem had been conquered at least 28 times and the consequences to the Jewish people have ranged from occupation, to exile in foreign countries to downright slaughter.

No people have been as persecuted, reviled or subjected to as many attempts at genocide as the children of Abraham, and I say this in all sincerity, they've had enough.

Yad Vashem, the Holocaust museum in Jerusalem tells an unbelievable story of pogroms, humiliation, torture and mass execution that resulted in Israel's national slogan "Never Again".

Never again will the land of Israel be taken from the Jewish people, not by armies or politicians, not by the United Nations or all the might of Planet Earth put together.

Never again will the Jews suffer national humiliation and genocide at the hands of Hitler's Nazis or anybody else who would be foolish enough to test their national resolve.

I think it was best described on January 1, 1942 by a Jew named Abba Kouner imprisoned by the Germans in Vizna Ghetto "Brothers let us not go as sheep to slaughter it is better to die as free warriors than to live by the grace of murderers.
Resist! To your last breath!"

There is not a nation on earth that wants peace more than Israel, but not at the price of standing by and seeing their hard won Homeland carved up and handed out to their sworn blood enemies whose religious leaders tell them they have a right and a duty to destroy the Jews.

They will not stand by and let Hezbollah or anybody else lob rockets on to innocent civilians without retaliating.

For some unknown reason the world's media are against Israel and take the side of the Muslims in most cases leaving the Israeli side of the story twisted or untold, making an Israeli response to an unprovoked rocket attack appear as an act of aggression against a persecuted people.

Folks, please believe me when I say that The Israelis are not the aggressors in the Middle East. They have made concession after concession in an attempt to make peace with the Palestinians and the Arab world at large.

Nazareth, the birthplace of Jesus, Bethlehem, His boyhood home and the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, the most holy site in all Judaism are all in Muslim hands and admittance can be denied to Jews and Christians at any time the Muslims choose to do so.

With each concession Israel has made, the Muslims have promised peace only to occupy another piece of Israel and continue their war on the Jews. This has happened every time the Jews have yielded to international pressure and handed over another piece of Israel, it only results in moving their enemies closer to them.

How can you make peace with a people or an ideology that is dedicated to your destruction?

Yet every American President and other world leaders continue in an effort to force the Israelis to give up more and more concessions in return for nothing but more arrogance and bloodshed from the Muslims.

If the world had really wanted to do something to promote peace in the Middle East they would have long ago gone into Iran and destroyed their ability to produce weapons of mass destruction.

It could already be too late, the Iranians either have a weapon or are just before perfecting it and it will dramatically alter the balance of power in the Middle East.

This is not just an Israeli problem, but a world problem. Iran is the biggest threat to world security that exists on the planet today.

A nuclear-armed loose cannon is a terrifying thing.

Barack Obama made the statement that the New Haven Police Department had acted "stupidly" in it's handling of Professor Henry Gates when they mistakenly thought he was breaking into his own house. Remember the brilliant waste of time called the "Beer Summit"?

Well, President Obama acted stupidly when he said that Israel had to return to its 1967 borders.

Only one of two things could have prompted such a repulsive and ridiculous statement:

1. He has no idea of the geography of Israel.
2. His Muslim heritage is coming in to play.

Whatever it was, in the words of Bibi Netanyahu, "It isn't going to happen."

And Obama has pretty much admitted that he's not a Netanyahu fan. He was recently caught on an open microphone responding to French Prime Minister Sarkozy's suggestion that Netanyahu was "a liar," our President said, "You may be sick of him, but me, I have to deal with him every day."

We'll deal with the 1967 Israeli borders and the ramifications of such a disastrous move in later articles.

In the meantime…

Shalom, from the Holy Land.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops, and for our country.

He left behind very little, his smoking jacket, less then a dollar worth of MPC, and of course, Klaus.

His last mission is well documented on the internet, so I will not be redundant, but most of the NCO’s in SF prefer to remember him as the leader, who, with NVA on all sides, refused extraction, saying, “No, No, I’ve got em right where I want em, surrounded from the inside.“

A Veteran's Day Re-post from 2007 of Disgraceful

A three-man machine gun crew was sent to the perimeter to hold the evacuating force's right flank. The captain who had given the order, however, was wounded in the fighting and was evacuated from the island before he could notify anybody of the crew's position and his intent to let them know when they could fall back. Because of that communication breakdown, when the last helicopter full of Marines left the island, it was believed that every man alive had been pulled off.

When it was discovered that Hargrove, Hall and Marshall were left on the island, any thought of going back was dismissed as there was an expectation of another heavy fight if Marines returned and no indication of their survival."

14 months later, with no bodies and no word given to the families why they were left behind, the Marine Corps declared the three men dead and awarded them the Purple Heart. As it turned out, the Corps was right, even though it had no proof.

"They got away with murder," Sandy said from her Blue Bell, Pa., home. "They got away with Joseph's murder. "They say Marines don't leave any man behind. I've revised that. The Marines don't like to leave more than three men behind at a time."

Brock, I thought you might like this story that appeared in todays paper. Carey Turner is a past Commander of the Goldsboro Rifles SCV Camp and a friend of mine. Hope you enjoy.

Fighting to get Joseph back home

Few members of the Hargrove family talk about it -- not because they want to forget, but because going back to the day they learned that their son, Joseph, was gone, remembering how it took 20 years to find out what had happened and knowing they still haven't brought him home, is simply too painful.

It's an anguish you can hear, just below the surface, in the voice of sister-in-law Sandy Hargrove -- easily the family's most outspoken member.

"It's a subject that's always on my mind and next to my heart," she said of U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Joseph Hargrove's death on the small Cambodian island of Koh Tang in 1975.

It was the last official action of the Vietnam War, but there was never an official explanation for why he and two other Marines were left behind in what was hailed as a major U.S. victory against the Khmer Rouge.

Today, she said, most of the people she talks to about Joseph are men who served with him and others interested in finding his remains and helping her family find some measure of peace.

But within the family, she added, the subject is largely avoided.

Joseph, who turned 24 years old the day he and nearly 200 other Marines stormed the island of Koh Tang, was the son of family matriarch Charlotte Hargrove, who had already lost one son, U.S. Army Pfc. Lane Hargrove, to the Vietnam War in 1968.

But she got to bury him.

Today, it's still Duplin County Commissioner Cary Turner's hope that she will get to bury Joseph, as well.

Joseph was his mother's cousin.

"Aunt Charlotte will be 85 this year and her health is failing fast," he said. "She still smiles, but she has lived a life of sadness and torment."

Turner's hope is pinned on two things -- the information inside Ralph Wetterhahn's book, "The Last Battle" and the fact that 12 Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) teams are currently working in Laos and Vietnam. Teams deploy to the region about 10 times a year for stints of anywhere from 35 to 60 days.

In the 340-page book, Wetterhahn, a retired Air Force fighter pilot, recounts how he spent six years tracking down what happened on Koh Tang.

Beginning in 1995, his was a mission that culminated in 2001 with Em Son, the local commander of the Khmer Rouge forces in 1975, telling him the fate of the three men left behind -- Hargrove, Pfc. Gary L. Hall and Pfc. Danny G. Marshall.

But first, to begin understanding the complicated 32-year-old story, there are some basic facts.

On May 12, 1975, after the end of hostilities in the Vietnam War, a United States merchant ship, the S.S. Mayaguez was seized by the Khmer Rouge as it sailed in international waters that Cambodia then called its own.

On May 14, President Gerald Ford ordered an assault on the island of Koh Tang to free the 40 prisoners thought to be held there. -

Early on the morning of May 15, nearly 200 Marines stormed the island, which was held by a similar number of heavily-armed Khmer Rouge forces. They received Air Force and Naval support.

That same day, shortly after military action began, the hostages were released from a different location. They had never been on Koh Tang.

Orders to evacuate the island came late that evening. There were 41 Marine, Naval and Air Force casualties -- 18 on the island and 23 in a helicopter crash in Thailand.

When it was discovered that Hargrove, Hall and Marshall were left on the island, any thought of going back was dismissed as there was an expectation of another heavy fight if Marines returned and no indication of their survival.

The Marines don't like to leave more than three men behind at a time." In his book, Wetterhahn recounts how Em Son told him about the capture and execution of one of the Marines, a light-haired man believed to be Hargrove, the day after the battle.

Later, Em Son changed his story, describing the man as one of the others and saying he died from wounds suffered during the fighting. Wetterhahn, however, writes that based on other information, he is more inclined to believe the first version that places Hargrove's grave under a mango tree on the west beach.

Em Son also told Wetterhahn about the other two Marines who were later captured and executed in a different part of the island.

Gravesites and remains believed to be those of Hall and Marshall were found by a Joint Task Force for Full Accounting (now JPAC) team in 1999.

In 2001, the gravesite believed to be Hargrove's was identified and GPS coordinates were taken. That JTF-FA team, however, was unable to excavate the site before they were called back to the U.S.

"The Hargrove family still waits," Turner said. "Six years have passed since his grave was located and his family still waits for his remains to be brought home.

" For Sandy, her husband, Douglas, and the rest of the family in the Beulaville area, it's been a long six years.

"I don't understand why they can't just go. Just go bring him home," she said. "Mrs. Hargrove just wants her son laying right there beside her other son and her husband. He should be under the Carolina sky, not under some Cambodian tree.

"I'll take my sticker off my car. I'll take my POW bracelet off and I'll stop being so bitter. He was an American and he just needs to be on American soil.

" But after 32 years of waiting, Turner knows it's going to take a lot of work to get Hargrove home now.

"I'm going to try to start at the basic level and work my way up and gain strength as I go and I don't rule out the White House," he said.

He began his journey April 2 on the local level, asking the Duplin Board of Commissioners for its support. He's also been lobbying state Rep. Russell Tucker, D-Duplin, and state Sen. Charlie Albertson, D-Duplin, for their support.

"I think maybe now I'm in a position to help," Turner said. "My first basic step was to get support from the board of commissioners, but state Rep. Russell Tucker has been excellent."

Already, Tucker has sent letters to President George W. Bush, U.S. Sens. Elizabeth Dole and Richard Burr, R-North Carolina, and U.S. Reps. Walter Jones, R-North Carolina, and Mike McIntyre, D-North Carolina. Turner also said Tucker is hoping that he might be able to draw up resolution for the state General Assembly to pass in support as well.

"If I can get the support of the entire state legislature and get some Congressmen in on it, we might stand a chance," Turner said. "It's hard to ignore an entire state.

" But he's also setting a deadline.

By October, he said, if a team has not returned to the site, he's going to start raising money for a January trip. He estimates he will need at least $20,000.

"It's a simple thing to ask. Either they go or I'm going," Turner said. "And I would a whole lot prefer if the government does it, they allow me to go with them. I don't trust the government and the family has had their chain yanked so many times that it would be good if an eyewitness from the family went to make sure they go to that specific gravesite.

" And while he's not particularly excited about a possible trip to Cambodia, he said he would go in a heartbeat if it would help bring Joseph home.

"That's the only site left. If we go and there's nothing there, then we can put it to rest, but if there is, then we can bring him home.

"I live to be able to make that phone call. Even if I don't bring home but a tooth, it'd be worth it to say just those simple words -- 'Tell Aunt Charlotte we're bringing Joseph home

Spitfire redux: The WWII guns firing after 70 years buried in peat

Link

An excavation at the site of a 1941 Spitfire crash in a bog in the Irish Republic uncovered huge, remarkably preserved chunks of plane and six Browning machine guns.
After 70 years buried in peat could they be made to fire? They certainly could, writes Dan Snow.

It was June in Donegal, when we stood on a windswept hillside in hard hats and high-vis surrounded by a crowd of locals and watched by an Irish army unit while we filmed an archaeological excavation.

This was the place where, in 1941, Roland "Bud" Wolfe, an American pilot flying a British RAF Spitfire , paid for by a wealthy industrialist Canadian, HAD Experienced Engine failure while flying over the neutral Republic of Ireland.

After flying a sortie over the Atlantic, Wolfe was on his way back to his base in Northern Ireland when he was forced to bail out. He parachuted safely to the ground - his plane smashed into the boggy hillside.

Fast-forwarding 70 years and local aviation expert Johnny McNee was able to identify the wreck site. The ensuing dig was accompanied by intense anticipation.

Supremo Suddenly Worried About US Totalitarianism!

A Supreme Court justice on Tuesday expressed major concerns that the government would engage in round-the-clock surveillance reminiscent of the totalitarian world of the George Orwell novel 1984 if the court ruled in the government's favor. The court heard oral arguments in the Jones case, in which the outcome will determine whether warrantless GPS tracking by law enforcement is an invasion of Fourth Amendment protection from unreasonable search and seizure. Justice Stephen Breyer questioned what a democratic society would look like if people believed the government was tracking them for days at a time. "If you win this case, then there is nothing to prevent the police or the government from monitoring 24 hours a day the public movement of every citizen of the United States," Breyer said. "So if you win, you suddenly produce what sounds like 1984 from their brief." – UK Telegraph

Dominant Social Theme: This great and free country might be lessened if this sort of electronic surveillance takes place.

Free-Market Analysis: You see? We've warned about this. They're all on crack and sometimes one or another of them lets go with a windy whistle of a statement that reveals how mindless they actually are. In this case, it's Justice Stephen Breyer opining that the US is in danger of severe authoritarianism if the government is allowed to engage in warrantless GPS tracking. Drug abuse is horrible thing.

OK, maybe we're kidding. Not all of them are on crack, or even crank, but we have our suspicions about Breyer. He's worried about totalitarianism coming to America? Where's he been the last 50 years? Oh, that's right, probably sitting on a "bench" somewhere. He hasn't noticed that the US has turned into USSR-Lite on his watch ...

Judge Andrew Napolitano's warning about what war does to freedom

Via Rebellion

The Revolutionary War was the beginning of the Republic and the Civil War was the beginning of the end of the Republic. Prior to the Civil War, the United States were plural; the country was called "these" United States. Even the Constitution refers to the United States as "them." Afterwards, the United States became a singular noun. The Civil War was the official and violent rejection by the federal government of the basic principle laid out in the Declaration of Independence which was cited as the impetus for the American Revolution. What was that principle for which the rebels fought and which, among our presidents, only Jefferson defended? It was the right of free people to secede from a government that destroys their freedom. It was, by extension, the natural right to be left alone. ...

War is the death of freedom because war is the health of big government. The federal government views the Constitution as its enemy. That’s why the President, a former professor of constitutional law nonetheless, can take an oath to uphold the Constitution and then spend every waking moment trying to dig its grave. And George W. Bush was the same. And Bill Clinton was the same. And so on, and so on.

American Flag T-Shirts Banned On Cinco de Mayo

A federal court has ruled that a California public school had the authority to prevent students from wearing clothing emblazoned with pro-American messages on the Mexican holiday Cinco de Mayo.

U. S. District Court Judge James Ware was ruling in a case involving students at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, CA, who were banned from wearing American flag t-shirts on the Mexican holiday in 2010.

The judge determined that the Morgan Hill Unified School District did not violate the First Amendment and said that concerns by school officials over possible violence justified censoring the pro-American message.

“The school officials reasonable forecast that Plaintiff’s clothing could cause a substantial disruption with school activities, and therefore did not violate the standard set forth – by requiring that Plaintiff’s change,” the judge wrote.

“This is nothing more than political correctness,” said John Whitehead, president of the Rutherford Institute. His organization, along with Thomas More Law Center, represented the students and their families in the lawsuit.

The Tea Party Versus OWS & EMT attacked by, guess who?

Comrade Obama can’t seem to tell the difference between the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street. Maybe this will help:

HERE
========

Emergency workers don’t dare enter the parts of Europe that have fallen to the ongoing Muslim conquest because they will be set upon by violent savages. The Occupy Wall Street movement is creating a similar situation:

Officers and EMTs were called to [Zuccotti Park] for a report of a disturbed person. While trying to approach 20-year-old Joshua Ehrenberg, sources tell Fox 5 that other protesters locked their arms and legs to stop Ehrenberg from being loaded into an ambulance.

Police say that during the ensuing moments, Ehrenberg shoved a emergency worker. That EMT then had a ladder fall on top of him, and then several other protesters fell on top of the ladder, crushing his leg. Sources say the ladder was set up as a part of the OWS protest.

The most fundamental duty of government authorities is not to redistribute our wealth but to maintain public order. Why don’t they simply shut down these eruptions of anarchy? It’s almost as if there are orders from on high to let the situation continue to fester until liberals get the Kent State moment they’ve been wishing for.

Man shot in face by fake ATF officers

Via Sipsey Street Irregulars

"How are you supposed to tell the difference these days"

A family was tied up in their own home when someone broke in overnight. One person ended up shot.

It happened at a home on North Wayside near Way around 1:30am. Investigators tell us four to six masked suspects claiming to be ATF officers barged into the home and held up the family inside. Authorities say when the homeowner's 28-year-old grandson opened the door, the suspects shot him in the face.

"I heard something go 'boom, boom,'" said one neighbor. "It was two to three shots."

According to police, the suspects, only described as having Spanish accents, forced the wounded man upstairs with his grandmother and uncle and tied the entire family up.

"It's kind of scary," said the neighbor.

Obama-Endorsed #OccupyOakland Fatal Shooting Over ‘A Bag of Weed’; Second Fatal Occupy Shooting Today

Atlas Shrugs

Despite the criminal media's attempt to glamorize this vile and destructive Occupy

movement, it will inevitably usher in the death of the left's chokehold on the American culture. Since the late sixties America has been held hostage by these tyrants. They have done everything to destroy all that is good and original and righteous in America. We will not go down with them.

This is O-merica, where lawlessness, anarchy, antisemitism, rape, sexual attacks, the spread of deadly diseases, and now murder are sanctioned, even hailed.

Breitbart has this: EXCLUSIVE VIDEO–BREAKING: Shooting–UPDATE: Fatal–at #OccupyOakland Over ‘A Bag of Weed’; Second Fatal Occupy Shooting Today (hat tip Jack)

"It’s gotten real nasty down here, real fast.”

UPDATE 3 (7:42 PST): According to this new video, released by an Occupy Oakland activist who witnessed the incident, the shooting occurred during a fight over “a bag of weed.” He concludes: “It’s gotten real nasty down here, real fast.”

UPDATE (7:30 pm PST): Breitbart.tv has just released video of Occupy Oakland activists assaulting a local ABC news crew as it reported on the fatal shooting.

9 Ways The Hijacked Federal Government Is Waging War Against The American People

"The minute we fell for 9/11 we signed our doom," said Paul Craig Roberts on the Alex Jones Show on November 9, 2011.

Alex responded, "9/11 is America's death warrant."

In the ten years since 9/11, America has been turned into a third world police state with a large underclass, a rapidly declining middle class, and a plutocracy that has broken its economic, political and emotional ties with America.

America's traitorous political establishment has abandoned ship. They are treating America like a dump. Instead of building new bridges and creating jobs at home, they are shipping jobs overseas and forcing millions of Americans to beg for a piece of meat.

Even the body parts of American war heroes are discarded in landfill sites. That act is symbolic of the fact that the new world order traitors in Washington think of the American people as garbage and dirt.

On 9/11, the new world order traitors declared war on America and humanity.

So far, they have carried out the war from behind the scenes, in the shadows, inside the heart of government, while posing as America's protectors. But that could change any day because the police state infrastructure that they have constructed in the last three decades in the guise of fighting terrorism and stopping the flow of drugs into America has given them the ability to wage their war against America out in the open.

They have the resources and the will to completely destroy America. All that is missing is the perfect storm.

After the snakes of the new world order cause the perfect storm the wolves of the new world order will be unleashed on America. At that point, the war against America and humanity will enter a new stage.

Below I've listed nine ways that the new world order traitors are conducting their war against the American people and American constitution.

Vet Unemployment hits 30% & Warrantless access to Twitter data

Global Guerrillas
VERBATIM POST
========

Here's the unemployment rate for young veterans (16.6%, for vets up to 34). Note: from what I can tell from this Business Week analysis, they are using the weak measure of unemployment (not the one used during the Great Depression).

CHART

Combine that with:

  • Lots of these guys are combat vets. They are typically the least employable given their training.
  • There are many more yet to come. Hundreds of thousands have yet to be laid off. Big defense cuts are coming as the budget continues to gush red ink.
  • Unemployment is going to get much worse in the next couple of years.

IF we keep going in this direction, and there's no reason to think we won't, these young men find new groups to care for them and they shift their loyalties to new gangs/mafias/cartels/militias etc. at a pretty amazing clip. Given the danger this shift in primary loyalties represents for the future, going it alone isn't an option. You need a community at your back.

========

Warrantless access to Twitter data is a go.

The big problem with the warrantless access to domestic digital info is that it rapidly leads to the automated retrieval of it. Once it can be pulled automatically w/o judicial intervention or degree of specificity (read delay), then the volume of data acquired will grow without limit. In Communist Germany, the Stasi was responsible for building files on people that didn't fit in. They sifted and sorted their personal correspondence to find patterns. In the US today, that task is done by millions of tiny software bots that work 24x7x365. Watching you. Waiting for you to fit a "signature." Given the increasing disconnect between the governors and the governed, this vision of the future is not paranoia, it's common sense.

Bring Back the Incandescent Bulb

Courtesy of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, a cheap, reliable, and comforting 130-year-old invention will begin to be phased out in 2012 through 2014. The switch is to be thrown on Thomas Edison’s incandescent light bulb, unless H.R. 91 (and its Senate companion bill, S. 395), Republican Joe Barton’s (Texas) legislation gets passed before January 2012. The Better Use of Light Bulbs Act would repeal provisions in the 2007 law, PL 110-140, and reinstate the disfavored incandescent bulb as a consumer choice for lighting homes.

The debate for some centers around the energy efficiency of the incandescent bulbs vs. compact fluorescents and LEDs. The supposed longer life-span and estimates of 50 to 70 percent less electricity usage of the CFLs -- leaving LEDs out of the discussion for now due to enormous expense and technical glitches -- is highly touted. Unfortunately, they are more expensive to manufacture, are mostly manufactured outside the United States, cast a harsh “cool white” light on surroundings, emit UV rays, take minutes to warm up, and contain mercury -- a danger to people that causes disposal problems of EPA proportions and environmental concerns. The mercury in one CFL bulb, 5 milligrams, is enough to contaminate up to 6,000 gallons of water. Low-mercury bulbs can still contaminate more than 1,000 gallons of water, as a Stanford University study revealed.

In defense of the incandescent, users say they prefer the warmer, softer light that resembles the actual spectrum of the sun more closely, the instant on and off, lack of blinking 60 times as exhibited by some CFLs, and the fact that the bulbs have little impact on their environment making them a far more stable product and easily disposed of.

There’s also the point that the energy used to manufacture a CFL is far greater then for an incandescent bulb, perhaps to the point of canceling out any real energy savings by the time it’s screwed into the light fixture and turned on. Bulb application affects the life span of both the incandescent and the CFL. Incandescents take better to being snapped on an off frequently, but if the same frequency occurs for a CFL, a higher burnout rate is the result, something life span comparison tests don’t take into account but homeowners have come to realize. CFLs do far better in commercial and industrial situations where lights are constantly left on.

But should the debate focus on the positive and negative aspects of these different kinds of light bulbs that in the scope of everyday energy consumption use very little?

What the provision in the 2007 Act did had nothing to do with a defective product, dangerous emissions, or anything else. The regulations created under the 2007 Act were specific in mandating lower energy usage, imposing energy consumption levels on individuals, something quite unconstitutional.

It should be left up to the individual what kind of lighting they choose for their homes and businesses, how long they leave the lights on or off, and even whether they “waste” electricity, but not the government. Regulating a level of efficiency for any product that eliminates that product from store shelves is in effect a ban on that product. Hence, the government removes that product, giving a competitive edge to other products, and the companies, owners, and countries that manufacture them.

Rep. Joe Barton has stated that H.R. 91 isn’t an attack on energy conservation, but instead a defense of personal freedom. As for light bulb purchases, “Consumers should be able to buy them if they choose to, but the government shouldn't manipulate the market by eliminating the competition,” he said.

Right now H.R. 91 and S. 395 are stuck in committees. But there is a renewed and united effort being waged by many organizations and individuals to pressure congress to pass these bills before January 2012 rolls around. Rep. Barton has even introduced another bill to rescue the incandescent bulb, H.R. 2417, also named "Better Use of Light Bulbs Act." This bill actually was voted on by the House on July 12, 2011, and received 233 votes in favor of passage and 193 votes against passage. However, the bill failed to pass because it had been brought up for a vote on a motion to suspend the rules and therefore required a 2/3s majority, or 291 votes to pass.

Contact your Representative and Senators with a helpful editable, pre-written message and let them know you are skeptical of the highly touted advantages of the compact fluorescent bulbs, urging them to stand up for personal freedom of choice by bringing H.R. 91 and S. 395 to the floor for a vote.

Please help "bring back the bulb." Get government out of our light bulb choices.

My representative introduces H.R.3168- The Illegal Alien Crime Reporting Act

North Carolina U.S. Representative Walter Jones (R-Pitt County), has introduced H.R.3168- The Illegal Alien Crime Reporting Act- which requires all local, state and federal agencies to report the immigration status of any person arrested, charged with a crime, convicted of a crime or incarcerated.

This bill would result in accurate statistical information on the crime rates of illegal aliens in the U.S. We will know, once and for all, just how high the illegal alien crime rate really is.

The bill has been referred to the Committee on the Judiciary and to the Committee on Homeland Security. Please contact your US Representative listed below and urge them to support this bill and work to get hearings on it in the respective committees.
