  1. We live in Maine and love it. When it gets up to 40 F all the kids wear shorts and we declare summer to be here. No mosquitoes this far north (upper Maine). Nine months of winter and three months of bad sledding (exception this year); who can beat that?

  2. It sounds almost like Washington State! The kids don't do this anymore, but when *I* was a kid, we wore knee socks with our shorts in the "summer". It wasn't really warm enough for shorts, but, hey, it was the only chance we were gonna get!

Ten-and-a-half months of monsoons followed by six weeks of cool, drippy, grey weather: What's not to like?!
