Vietnam Zippos

This is a 1953 hand-painted Town &
Country Trout Zippo which was many
years later engraved with "USN Saigon
1967" and with a map of Vietnam on the
back. It was not unusual for the the servicemen to bring their own Zippos to Vietnam and have them engraved "in-field". This is one of the oldest Vietnam War Zippos.

  1. I found one of these at a flea-market in Morganton N.C.a couple year`s ago,saw it lying in the middle of a pile of junk spresd out on a table top.this one is engraved on top "Vietnam 67-68 Tay Ninh" .There is an engraving on the bottom of the snoopy dog sitting on his dog house smoking a cigar. The stainless coating is almost gone,a few small nick`s on it.I asked the man that had it ,whose it was ,he did`nt know or care ,all he wanted was his five buck`s!.

  2. May well be original, but the first time I went back to Vietnam in 1992 they were already selling fake ones. The Cao Dai Temple in
Tay Ninh is gorgeous. Search Goggle and you'll find many pictures. All I have is one from above.
