Are American Gun Owners Gutless?

Good news! It looks like we will hit the 25,000 signatures needed on our Whitehouse.gov petition that will require President Obama or his staff to answer.

Bad news! It won't matter that much. The anti-gun petition is being fueled by the mainstream media and is up over 160,000 signatures. It is a record for the petition system since it began. The second place petition is also anti-gun and currently has over 30,000 signatures. You guys couldn't even beat the also ran.

Bad news #2! While over 60,000 of you clicked into the petition website page yesterday (yes, we count), only 20,000 of you signed the petition. We understand your need for privacy, but the government already knows who you are. They scan in all of your 4473 forms! ARE YOU GOING TO STAND OR ARE YOU GOING TO TRY TO HIDE?

Over 1350 websites linked to our petition today, but it just isn't good enough. We need the major firearm manufacturers to post the link in their Facebooks, and that means you need to go post it on all of their Facebook pages. Many of them have fans in excess of a quarter million. WILL YOU ALL BE SILENT WHILE NANCY AND HARRY SALIVATE OVER OUR GUN RIGHTS?

NEWS FLASH: The NRA shut down their 1.7 million strong Facebook page today. This petition is the only pro-gun petition in the running. The Whitehouse petition site may not be the perfect place to plead the case of the law abiding American gun owner, but it is all we have.

GunsAmerica is only one website. We email over 700,000 subscribers, but it isn't enough against a media barrage from every major network and online outlet, reaching into the tens of millions. If you have a website with readers, a blog, anything, please link it directly to the petition page on the Whitehouse website. Do not link to the GunsAmerica Blog page. The full letter is not what matters now. It is purely that number that matters, and if we can get it up to 50,000 today Drudge will probably pick it up. It is our only hope to have a voice in this discussion.

It is up to us to do the heavy lifting through these first few days. Please sign the petition, and help out if you can.

  1. I would suggest that the low number won't matter for another reason. Should we expect that this President, having violated his oath of office six ways to Sunday would act in good faith on an online petition?

I am honestly a bit puzzled on how to proceed against the incipient gun grab. We must talk to our congresscritters. A few of them might even listen. I know the little guys, like GOA and JPFO and SAF will fight the good fight, even if the NRA rolls over to have its belly scratched by the hoplophobes. We will fight the good fight, but some kind of AWB will pass the Senate. Depending on how many GOPhers grow spines, we will probably hold in the House. Unless another Sandy hook comes along.

We have to try, I know, if only for our own peace of mind. I wonder, however, if we can win, given that so many rank and file 2A supporters have bought the lie in subtle ways, such as accepting carry permits and NFA classifications. We've been pushing hard to shove the camel's head back out of the tent, but it's going to stay hard until someone walks around to the rest of the camel and cuts its head off.

    1. Good post, but I'm not sure about the house at this time. I believe something will pass, maybe diluted. It's obvious to anyone with a brain that we need to get rid of the gun free zones and even post that CCW carriers are appreciated. There should be ex-military in some schools already that have these or will get one. A ban will accomplish absolutely ZERO.

    2. That is a sobering thought. And here I thought I was being pessimistic.

I notice we've all been rather quiet since Sandyhook. I wonder, are we all holding our breath until someone in DC files the bill, or just trying to figure out something that hasn't already been said?

    3. Perry and the VA governor have come out in support of armed teachers. We have pilots that are, so it only makes sense.

  2. I was listening to Pratt On Texas as I was out shopping. I learned something new. Under the existing Texas CHL law, licensed teachers and staff can carry in school, if the local schoolboards authorize it.

I support campus carry in all forms, of course.

      Need that in every state.

  3. I have entertained the thought of signing several petitions on the white house website in the past. The necessity of signing up for a "white house" account is somewhat of a turnoff.
Our efforts must be directed at our representatives for sure, but more so at forcing the organizations with dollars and clout, whose mission is to protect the second amendment, to recognize the threat and act accordingly; e.g. - NRA - turn the facebook page back on.
Let's use slogans that have impact:
"Gun-Free Zones are Helpless Victim Zones"
"Mass murderers prefer Gun-Free Zones 99% of the time"
"Thugs and criminals prefer the Helpless Victim"
"When the rapist approaches your daughter, would you rather she have a cell phone or a gun?"

We've been using some of those for quite a while and I don't have much hope for logic infiltrating a liberal mind, but I'll keep trying!:)

  5. Asking questions are genuinely good thing if you are
not understanding anything fully, but this post
    presents pleasant understanding yet.
