Interpol accused after journalist arrested over Muhammad tweet

Saudi Arabia used Interpol's system to get journalist arrested in Malaysia for insulting the Prophet Muhammad on Twitter

Interpol has been accused of abusing its powers after Saudi Arabia used the organisation's red notice system to get a journalist arrested in Malaysia for insulting the Prophet Muhammad.

Police in Kuala Lumpur said Hamza Kashgari, 23, was detained at the airport "following a request made to us by Interpol" the international police cooperation agency, on behalf of the Saudi authorities.

Kashgari, a newspaper columnist, fled Saudi Arabia after posting a tweet on the prophet's birthday that sparked more than 30,000 responses and several death threats. The posting, which was later deleted, read: "I have loved things about you and I have hated things about you and there is a lot I don't understand about you … I will not pray for you."

More than 13,000 people joined a Facebook page titled "The Saudi People Demand the Execution of Hamza Kashgari".

Obama, Intolerance, and the Almighty

Obama must be exulting in yet another swindle of American values. He claims to be the savior of women with his force-funded anti-birth agenda. He is presented as a religious “Christian” hero for “compromising” with the irate American Catholics.

But, as Rush Limbaugh points out, it is just another scam. What he wants is dictatorial power. And this Congress, both Democrats and Republicans, are giving him, piece by piece. He has no executive authority to order anything about insurance whatever. The president’s office is not the law-making branch of our government. He claims to be compromising with the Catholics, but he then asserts that the insurance companies will have to provide the anti-birth, anti-life mechanisms. It is an act of illegal tyranny, either way.

Mr. Ron,

Today I was on YouTube, listening to classic Confederate songs while working on my school work. When I clicked on a song, a message came up on the screen saying the video I had selected to watch was potentially offensive to viewers and asked me if I wanted to proceed. I clicked on some of the other videos, only to realize that all videos dealing with the Confederacy were branded with this message. However, if you click on any rap song on YouTube which contains extremely vulgar language, nudity, violence, and racial slurs no such message exists. I hope this inspires you and the camp to continue fighting for our heritage and our ancestors, which are clearly under attack each and every day. Please pass this on to the camp, and check this out on YouTube for yourself!

USS Revenge, commanded by Oliver Hazard Perry and lost on a stormy January day in 1811 is found

Now, researchers from the US Navy are hoping to confirm what the men who discovered the wreck believe: that the sunken ship off the coast of Rhode Island is the USS Revenge, commanded by Oliver Hazard Perry and lost on a stormy January day in 1811.

"The Revenge was forgotten, it became a footnote," said Charlie Buffum, a brewery owner from Connecticut who found the shipwreck while diving with friend Craig Harger. "We are very confident this is it."

On Wednesday, Buffum and Harger braved the raw weather of Block Island Sound to accompany the researchers as they surveyed the wreck site.

The Navy - along with help from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution - is using high-tech sensor equipment to map the site, a first step toward retrieving possible artifacts.

If they're successful, they will illuminate a critical episode in the life of one of the greatest US naval officers - and an enemy of Britain.

U.S. Government Still Pays Two Civil War Pensions

Via Old Virginia Blog

Despite the fact that the Civil War ended April 9, 1865 (53,630 days ago, for reference), the government is still paying out veterans' pensions.

Records from the Department of Veterans' Affairs show that two children of Civil War veterans, as of September, are receiving pensions from their fathers' service.

Department of Veteran Affairs spokesman Phil Budahn says the VA last checked in on the benefits recipients in the fall. Both were alive, but in poor health.

Budahn says it's likely that the children of the Civil War veterans, who have wished to remain anonymous, both had illnesses that prevented them from ever becoming self-sufficient..

Trevor Plante, a reference chief at the National Archives says it's also possible that the beneficiaries were young when their fathers died and had no living mothers to care for them, which would also qualify them for their fathers' pensions.

A nation of moochers: 70+% of federal spending goes to dependence programs

Growth in agricultural subsidies is perhaps the most egregious example of subsidizing the rich. Farm incomes grew by $7,271 in 2010, while the average non-farm American household saw income drop by $500. Despite the improved situation, farm subsidies have not declined.

Worse, the number of people who do not pay federal income taxes and are not claimed as dependents by someone else skyrocketed from a modest 14.8 percent in 1984 to 49.5 percent in 2009. Almost one-half, more than 151 million tax filers, pay no taxes. Many of those people are on the dole.

Government benefits have become increasingly generous over time. The outlay for food stamps nearly doubled from $39.3 billion to $75.3 billion between 2008 and 2010, bringing the average per capita monthly benefit to $134. This all adds up. The total amount of government support per capita jumped from $7,314 in 1962 to $32,748 in 2010 (using constant 2005 dollars). Why work when you can do better simply living off government programs?

Cal Thomas on Rachel Madcow

Via Angry White Dude

During a CPAC panel discussion on the Obama administration’s controversial contraception mandate, The Heritage Foundation’s Genevieve Wood played a clip of Rachel Maddow saying that “the Republican Party was waging war on contraception.”

Turning to columnist Cal Thomas, Wood asked:

“Cal, let’s talk about this religious–this is serious, we laugh about it, but this is serious in terms of, if they get away with this, what would happen in a second term? If that outrage doesn’t turn to action in November, what are we looking at here?”

To which he pointedly responded:

“I’m really glad, Genevieve, that you played the Rachel Maddow clip. I think that she is the best argument in favor of her parent’s using contraception. I would be all for that! And all of the rest of the crowd at MSNBC, too, for that matter.”

Older and younger people during SHTF

Lot of questions about how older people did, or how younger cope with everything in that period.

If we talk about older again it comes to the fact how many people they had around them, i mean did they spent that time in the group, alone, or just with spouse. And again it comes to their skills.

Older people during SHTF

It was not about “they are old and they are not strong, so we do not need them”. Not in my case. Everyone was needed. The question “how older and very young people did during SHTF?” is to wide. Easiest answer would be that they did like everybody else. Not well, life was hard.

An Open Letter to President Barack Obama

Mr. President,

In your State of the Union Address, you spoke about citizens paying their fair share of tax and I have some questions to ask you.

First of all let's get past the point of Warren Buffet complaining that he pays taxes at a rate lower that his secretary. If Mr. Buffet wants to pay one hundred percent of his income in taxes, I don't think it will bother anybody that I know of.

But I dare say that even if Mr. Buffet were to do that, he wouldn't miss a meal and would live very comfortably for the rest of his life, so I think he's a bad example.

Lets talk about small businessmen like myself.

I am and have been employing 25 people for the past thirty plus years.

With the price of diesel fuel, the rising cost of health insurance and the overall exponential increase in the cost of doing business, it is tough to maintain a payroll and turn a decent profit.

My employee's yearly bonuses are predicated on the amount of profit we realize at the end of the year.

Since we are a small one-owner business, most of our federal taxes are based on my personal income, so if you raise my personal taxes what do you propose I do…

Should I:

Stop giving bonuses?

Stop providing health insurance for my employees?

Fire several people?

Or just simply go out of business?

You see Mr. President, it's not the Warren Buffets of this world who will be hurt by paying their "fair share," its those middle class folks you claim to care so much about.

It's all slight of hand, smoke and mirrors, Mr. President, and you foster class envy and dissension better than any president we've ever had.

Mr. President you really should get rid of some of the eggheads in your cabinet and appoint some people who know what its like to meet a relentless payroll twice a month, some people who have had to go in debt to keep their businesses operating and been faced with losing everything they own if they cant meet the loan.

You need some people in your cabinet who have burned the midnight oil trying to figure how to sweat out the first of the month.

You need some people who have lived in the real world.

You ask us to make sacrifices while you and the Congress spend us into a national debt we're never going to overcome.

You ask for more and more and you spend more and more.

And the sad part of the situation is what you're doing to our beloved nation. You're tearing it apart, trying to build a monolithic central government that all people have to be dependent on.

It never has worked and it never will work.

We are faced with external enemies on every side, enemies who want to destroy us, but the people I fear the most are at the two ends of Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C.

You waste billions of dollars on frivolous junk and send money to our enemies.

You can't even pass a budget to tell us what you would do with everybody's "fair share."

How about you and Congress paying your fair share and having the same medical and retirement programs the rest of America has?

No?

I didn't think so.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops, and for our country.

God Bless America

The federal government broke a promise, according to the lawyer for a Navy veteran facing criminal firearms charges after he called for help on what is promoted as a confidential suicide prevention hotline.

The government alleges the former petty officer from Blacksburg committed four felonies by making a homemade gun using a pipe and a shotgun shell. The veteran’s lawyer claims the government is violating due process by using information from his call to prosecute him.

Mental health professionals suggest the charges against Sean Duvall could hamper national suicide prevention efforts by creating doubts about whether calls for help will be considered confidential.

Duvall, a Persian Gulf War veteran, was despondent and contemplating suicide after being evicted from his apartment in June, according to his motion to dismiss filed in Roanoke federal court. He wandered the streets of Blacksburg, sometimes sleeping on the ground.

Brother arrested after assault on Muslim man tried for sister’s murder

Good show and we're going to see more and more of this.

We have been told that Charlene Downes’ brother has been arrested after an alleged assault on one of the Muslim men tried for Charlene’s murder.

Given the fact that the takeaway shop remained a centre for grooming other young girls, it is no surprise if someone has taken the law into their own hands.

If Robert wants us to, we will demonstrate in support of him when he is taken to court, and we call on all patriots of all groups to join us.

There is an old saying that if you are playing poker and do not know who the sucker at the table is, then it's you.

We are being played for suckers.

The US unemployment rate during the Great Depression reached 25%. Without the BLS (Bureau of Lies & Swindles) "adjustments" the REAL unemployment rate today is 23%.

Boy howdy! It's sure a good thing that the ruling elite says the recession ended two years ago and that we're in a 'recovery' right now, instead of telling the truth. Feel better now?

Let Them Not Lay Down

The cause of liberty is not just the desire for freedom, or lack of government control. You probably know the phraseology, don't you? "people who desire no form of government at all." Or, some such nonsense attributed to anyone engaged in prosecuting their rights. They are classified as near as possible as nut-job anarchists. "Why, they would do away with Social Security and the safety net for the poor."

Yes, yes, we have heard all of that before from the elitists who think that if the people were given liberty that there would be no way to achieve the same ends. It takes a government to force people into kindness, social awareness and generosity.

Alzheimer's Disease Symptoms Reversed in Mice

A nearly 13-year-old skin cancer drug rapidly alleviates molecular signs of Alzheimer's disease and improves brain function, according to the results of a new mouse study being hailed as extremely promising. Early-stage human clinical trials could begin within months.

In the study, published online February 9 by Science, researchers from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and colleagues used mice genetically engineered to exhibit some of the symptoms of Alzheimer's. Most notably, the mice produced amyloid beta peptides—toxic protein fragments that gum up neurons and lead to cell death—and showed signs of forgetfulness.

Southern Baptist Convention Leader Voices Outrage: Obama “Has Declared War On Religion”

When you add the 42 million Americans who comprise the Southern Baptist Convention to the 72 Million who make-up the American Catholic Church, you come up with essentially 1/3rd of the American population who are beyond outraged at Obama's attack on religious freedom.

Now add those to the, rougly 172 million who make up the white, working, middle-class of America, which Obama has officially written off, it soon becomes a question of not "if" Obama will win the 2012 election, but rather who, in the hell, would actually vote for the man at this point?

Black History Spotlight -- Bayard Rustin

Via Bernhard

Bayard Rustin,

M.L. King’s March Organizer:

Known later in life as a “civil rights activist,” Rustin (1912-1987) joined the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) as a young man in 1936. His grandmother Julia was a member of the NAACP and close friend of black communist WEB DuBois, editor of the official NAACP organ, “The Crisis.” Rustin sang in the chorus of fellow black communist Paul Robeson in entertainment venues across the country in the late 1930’s, and in 1936 joined the Young Communist League at New York City College. The CPUSA pursued young black men like Rustin as the issue of democratic rights for the Negro was a central ingredient in their strategy to bring an end to capitalism, and “the full unleashing of the struggle for Negro liberation” meant “bringing up the strategic reserve of democracy and socialism” and striking at the “Achilles heel of American imperialism.”

Rustin was convicted of avoiding military service and sent to prison for two years in 1944 for draft-dodging; and on January 23, 1953, the Los Angeles Times reported his conviction and sentencing to jail for 60 days for lewd vagrancy and homosexual perversion.

From 1955 to 1960, Rustin served as an associate, advisor and personal secretary to Michael King, later known as Martin Luther King. It was during his service to King that he attended the 16th Convention of the CPUSA in February 1957, and one month later, he and King founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). King presided as president of the SCLC and his vice-president was Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth, who was also the president of an identified communist front known as the Southern Conference Educational Fund.

Soon after returning from a Moscow visit in 1958, Rustin organized the first of King’s marches on Washington. The official organ of the CPUSA, “The Worker," openly declared this march to be a communist project and endorsed it. Although he officially left King’s employ in 1961, Rustin was called upon by King to be second in command of the much larger march on Washington which took place on August 28, 1964. Bayard Rustin’s replacement in 1961 as secretary and advisor to King was Jack O’Dell, also known as Hunter Pitts O’Dell. According to official records, in 1962 Jack O’Dell was a member of the National Committee of the CPUSA. He had been listed as a communist party member as early as 1956. Rustin also served as coordinator of black socialist A. Philip Randolph’s 1963 March for Jobs and Freedom in Washington, as well as director of the A. Philip Randolph Institute.

What if the News Media Reports Missiles Launched From the Iranian Coast Hit a US Aircraft Carrier With Deaths and Casualties?

Via Nancy

"We interrupt this broadcast for an important News bulletin…. We take you to reporter Manfred Smith on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Persian Gulf for this special report." (Reporter Smith) "I’m here on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln where casualties are being taken from the USS Carl Vinson which sustained damage earlier today in a shocking pre-dawn attack on US Naval forces here in the Persian Gulf. At least one hundred body bags are now housed in a makeshift morgue below decks, and casualties are running in the hundreds. Radar tracking shows evidence of sea-skimming missiles, likely shoulder-fired, possibly as many as three launched from the coast of Iran, that struck the Vinson amidships. You can see in the distance smoke billowing from the USS Vinson now some six hours after the sudden surprise attack. US Navy authorities said the close proximity of the ship to the coast made it impossible to defend against this missile attack.

The USS Eisenhower remains positioned 30 miles further away from Iran’s coast than the USS Vinson. US military authorities are saying a swift and decisive retaliatory blow against Iran is now underway and US military aircraft are now attacking pre-determined military targets with full force. Iranian authorities in Tehran issued a denial of their involvement in the attack, but an Iranian mullah is claimed to have said, I quote: ‘This should serve the Great Satan notice they don’t belong here.’ Iranian President Ahmadinejad had previously warned Iran would retaliate against sanctions imposed by the US on his country. This is Manfred Smith with XXX News aboard the USS Eisenhower in the Persian Gulf."

If the American public were suddenly shocked by the news that three shoulder-fired missiles launched from the coast of Iran had hit a US aircraft carrier in the Straits of Hormuz and killed 200 navy personnel, would even one American question whether this report was accurate in its assumption that the regime in Iran was behind the missile attack?

How easy it would be for any party that wanted to instigate war to place saboteurs on Iran’s coast to aim shoulder-fired missiles at a US aircraft carrier positioned near the Straits of Hormuz where a third of the world’s oil tankers pass every day.

The very first posting I submitted to Lew Rockwell over a decade ago was entitled "Remember The Maine." It was about events, all at sea, that triggered all the modern major world wars. All were staged events. I repeat them here:
