Walmart employees 'ripped up woman's $100 bills because they thought they were fake'

Test: A counterfeit bill detector pen, like the one shown, was used on the bills by the employees but only after they had been ripped according to the woman
A mother who says Walmart employees intentionally humiliated her after wrongfully ripping up two of her $100 bills while believing they were fake is taking legal action against the store.
In her recently filed complaint, Julia Garcia is seeking no more than $74,900 in damages after detained for four hours before customers in San Antonio, Texas who were told she had tried to use fake money.
It was in the early hours of December 18, 2010 while doing some Christmas shopping for her children that Ms Garcia claims she presented the first $100 bill as payment before it was taken with suspicion from her.
According to Garcia’s complaint she presented a $100 bill for payment. No detection pen was used to verify its authenticity. Instead the cashier spoke to another cashier, then returned and told Ms. Garcia her money was fake and proceeded to rip the bill in pieces.

Gun club to allow alcohol sales

Via Don

Kristina Brown and her husband own Lakeside Guns Shop in Acworth, but they are in the process of building a $3.5 million gun range called The Governor's Club in Powder Springs.

Brown told Channel 2's Dave Huddleston the club will be state of the art and have a lounge that serves alcohol.

A new sub division is being built about 100 yards from the club and some home owners in the area off C.H. James Parkway and Elliot Road think having a gun range and alcohol in the same location is a bad idea.

"I mean, that's just stupid," Traci Hart, a mother of three young children said.

She said her neighborhood is nice and quiet and they don't want the gun range.

"We don't need drunk people running around in and out of the neighborhood," Hart said.

Brown sent Huddleston a statement that said, "Customers will have to order a drink with their identification card and once the card is accepted, and flagged, they cannot be checked back into the range that day." The statement went on to say, "Georgia Law allows persons with gun permits to bring their weapon into a restaurant that serves alcohol, we are taking it even a step further."

Road Rage Incident Led To Fatal Shooting In Houston

Via hefferman1

A Texas woman on her way to work fatally shot another motorist she said attacked her after a minor collision in northwest Harris County near Houston, officials said. The incident is yet another tragic example of road rage that has been rising in the U.S.

Crystal Scott, 23, pulled into a Shell station about 7:20 a.m. Monday with the intention of exchanging insurance information with the other driver, officials said.

But then, the man got out of his pickup and ran toward Scott. He was yelling and hitting her car while she was still inside, she told investigators.

"He was attempting to open (Scott's) car door while striking the driver's side window," said Thomas Gilliland, a Harris County sheriff's deputy, reported the Houston Chronicle.

Scott grabbed a pistol and fired, striking the man in the chest.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Is the United States an empire in decline?

Via Ryan

Tattered US flag

The current argument about the United States' standing in the world is an odd thing.
Mitt Romney says the US has abandoned global leadership and is slipping behind, but does not really believe that the country is in long term decline.

President Barack Obama on the other hand, insists that his country, "is back", but appears to harbour private doubts it.

The two men have in part been forced into these positions by the presidential debate. The Romney pitch is essentially that Mr Obama has been a weak ditherer who has conceded ground unnecessarily to the likes of Russia, China, and Iran, and is in danger of pitching the country into an irreversible downward trend.

The Romney people have to believe their champion can reverse this, and Obama's have to insist that the loss of power or influence has not taken place to start with.

Whatever the political contortions required of the two candidates, the debate is fuelled by underlying public attitudes.

Polls suggest that when asked whether the country is "in decline", 60-70% of Americans will say Yes.
In recent years, hundreds of thousands of books have sold in the US with a similar message, leaving one reviewer to comment wearily, "decline has the same fascination for historians that love has for lyrical poets".

Former Books-A-Million exec says firing was over military service

Via Billy

A former executive at Books-A-Million has hired a lawyer to investigate his termination this month, saying the company objected to his service as an officer in the U.S. Navy.

Douglas Markham was fired in early September as executive vice president and chief administrative officer by the Birmingham-based operator of 258 stores in 31 states, lawyer Mark White said. Markham, White said, has been in the Navy for 25 years while pursuing a business career, and holds the rank of captain.

"We are currently investigating the facts and circumstances related to the decision of Books-A-Million to terminate our client's employment," said White, of the Birmingham firm White Arnold & Dowd. "For some time, Books-A-Million has made it known to our client that the company did not support his service to the U.S. Navy."

White said there are federal laws that prohibit employers from discriminating against workers based on military service. He said Markham has had stints on both active and reserve duty in recent periods, and is an expert in military logistics.

Attempts to reach officials with Books-A-Million were unsuccessful.

Markham has worked as the chief administrative officer at Books-A-Million since August 2009. Before that, he was the company's chief financial officer.

He was on active military duty from January 2009 through July 2009, according to company filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Before joining Books-A-Million, Markham was the financial controller for Saks Inc., the department store chain formerly based in Birmingham, working for the company for about 10 years.

Army officer’s career crashed by Muslim oppostion

Via Billy

Thompson, Richard (TMLC)
A law firm that defends and promotes Christian heritage and moral values says an 18-year veteran Army officer is being disciplined for telling the truth about Islam. There is evidence that the Pentagon is apparently taking its marching orders from Islamic groups.

Lt. Col. Matthew Dooley is a 1994 graduate of the United States Military Academy. The highly decorated Army officer has been deployed to Bosnia, Kuwait, and Iraq for a total of six combat tours during his career.
But Dooley was recently condemned and relieved of a teaching assignment because he discussed negative aspects of Islam in an elective course entitled "Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism" at the Joint Services Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia.

Richard Thompson is president and chief counsel of Thomas More Law Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He says Dooley's career is being adversely affected.

"He was slated to become a colonel and assume a command position," he tells OneNewsNow. "But because they did not like the way he taught the class and the way he portrayed Islam, they have stopped this whole procedure. They decided they were going to give him a negative evaluation and red-flagged his promotion."
Thompson says TMLC is very concerned about a letter sent out by 57 Islamist groups to several government agencies, including the Pentagon, demanding that action be taken against the teaching of this course content.

"All information that is offensive to Islam is to be removed," Thompson summarizes the letter. "And any instructors [of the course] should be disciplined. Apparently the Department of Defense is following the instructions they got from these Muslim organizations."

He says the treatment of Lt. Col. Dooley is outrageous and the Thomas More Law Center is considering a federal lawsuit aimed at vindicating Dooley's rights to free speech and academic freedom.

Hey, Let’s Pledge Allegiance to Obama

Via The Feral Irishman

Whoever she is.

No, nothing creepy here. Just a bunch of dimwitted actresses writing stuff on their hands and pledging loyalty to their cult leader. Just in case you haven’t updated your calendars, the re-education camps are tentatively scheduled to open November 7.
Actress Jessica Alba uses the Pledge of Allegiance as an example of the campaign in an email to supporters.
“Growing up, my classmates and I started every day with a ritual: We’d stand up, put our right hand over our hearts, and say the Pledge of Allegiance,” explains Alba. “To me, that gesture was a promise. A promise to be involved and engaged in this country’s future. A promise to work for liberty and justice — and for affordable education, health care, and equality — for all.”
Alba joins Hollywood actresses Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson by photographing herself with her hand on her heart pledging to vote for Obama.
“That’s why all across the country, people like you and I are proudly writing down our reasons for getting involved, and then taking the pledge — to vote.
Barack Hussein Obama, mmm, mmm, mmm.

From Al Qaeda 7 to DOJ 3

 AP Images

A lawyer who came to prominence for his full-throated defense of a subsequently convicted terrorist was quietly promoted to the No. 3 slot at the Department of Justice last month, a post that puts him in charge of the administration’s policy regarding Guantanamo Bay detainees.

The move has raised red flags on Capitol Hill and elsewhere among national security stalwarts who argue that the promotion could imperil the country’s longstanding war on terrorism.

The Obama administration appointee at the center of the debate is Tony West, a longtime Justice Department lawyer who received national attention for his aggressive defense of John Walker Lindh, the so-called American Taliban who is currently serving 20-years in prison for colluding with al Qaeda in Afghanistan and taking up arms against U.S. troops.

Late last month, President Obama appointed West as the DOJ’s acting associate attorney general, a posting that does not require Senate confirmation. He formally began the job on Monday.

Fans outraged after Lynyrd Skynyrd denounces Confederate flag

Lynyrd Skynyrd has used giant Confederate flag backdrops for three decades

Lynyrd Skynyrd, which only contains one original member, has been using giant Confederate flags as concert backdrops for 30 years. The band has certainly never cared about being politically correct. The most famous song by the band, Sweet Home Alabama, praises former Governor and presidential candidate George Wallace. Today, Wallace is vilified by the left for defending racial segregation.

The Confederate flag became closely associated with rock n roll in part because of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Other famous rock acts continued to use the Confederate flag in concert through the 80s and 90s such include Guns N Roses, Pantera, and Kid Rock. Even Sean Taro Ono Lennon has been seen wearing a Confederate flag t-shirt.

Now the band has suddenly decided to become politically correct. Gary Rossington, the only original member, grovelled to CNN's Fredricka Whitfield. He says he doesn't want to offend anyone by using the Confederate flag. He said the band will no longer display the flag.
The band released a new studio album just days ago ironically titled "Last of A Dying Breed." The band is preparing to go on tour to support their new album. However, there is a growing outrage among fans. Many say they have attended Lynyrd Skynyrd concerts for decades, but will never buy a ticket again. Twitter and Facebook have exploded with condemnation. Many are now calling the band a "fake," who just own the right's to the original band's name.

Obama Sells Posters Desecrating American Flag By Replacing Stars With Obama Logo

Barack Obama took the Cult of Obama and narcissism to perhaps an unprecedented level on Wednesday when his campaign began selling posters that desecrated the image of the American flag by replacing the stars on the flag with the “O” symbol that serves as the Obama campaign’s logo.

Obama’s Twitter account (@BarackObama) sent a tweet that said, “A poster to say there are no red states or blue states, only the United States: http://OFA.BO/gfHgXM ."

Ross Bruggink and Dan Olson of Studio MPLS designed the screen print and, according to the website, there are 250 posters for sale.

Another poster, also for sale for $35, is a map of the United States depicting the flag, with the Obama campaign logo again replacing the stars.

Even though Obama's tweet said "there are no red states or blue states, only the United States," the posters suggest Obama and his campaign believe we are living in the United States of Obama.
These posters are beyond creepy. And they are also stunning displays of egotism and disrespect even from a president not known for his humility and reverence for America's traditions.

Ouch: 6 Million Uninsured Americans Will Pay 'Obamatax'

Months out from the Supreme Court's ruling on the Affordable Care Act, and Americans bombarded by mile-a-minute election coverage, it's easy to forget that ACA implementation is creeping up on us. But today, in a great reminder of the real struggles that we'll still face after November 6th, the Congressional Budget Office released a new estimate of how many will be paying taxes for going without insurance. And, fitting the holding pattern, the number is higher than previously expected.

Overall, 6 million Americans will pay "Obamatax," as some have called it. These are middle class individuals, without insurance because their employer may dropped it owing to expenses, and they're unable to afford it themselves. Furthermore, they're just a sliver of the 30 million Americans who will still have zero health insurance to speak of, affordable or otherwise. The remainder of the uninsured, to whom the tax doesn't apply, either are illegal aliens (so the ACA doesn't apply to them), or they don't make enough to pay income taxes.

Report: Al-Qaida, Gitmo Alum Involved in Deadly Embassy Attack

The deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya that killed four Americans was directly tied to al-Qaida and involved a former detainee at the Guantanamo Bay prison, intelligence sources told Fox News.

The information comes as a top Obama White House official described the assault for the first time as a “terrorist attack” — and Republican lawmakers intensified their questioning of administration officials on security issues and whether consulate security personnel had communicated with extremists before the attack occurred.

The White House has long claimed the assault had been a "spontaneous" act.

"Yes, they were killed in the course of a terrorist attack on our embassy," Matt Olsen, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said on Wednesday during a Senate hearing, Fox reports.

But Olsen echoed administration colleagues in saying U.S. officials have no specific intelligence about "significant advanced planning or coordination" for the attack.

His statement, however, goes beyond White House Press Secretary Jay Carney and Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, saying the Sept. 11 attack on the consulate was spontaneous.

Olsen is the first top White House official to call the strike an act of terrorism, Fox reports.

Chick-fil-A backs down

Via Billy

The restaurant chain said Wednesday it henceforth will 'leave the public-policy debate over same-sex marriage to ... the political arena.' Chick-fil-A has said no more, but key business factors probably played into its change of course.

After enduring a major public-relations tsunami this summer, Chick-fil-A, the Atlanta-based sandwich shop that’s closed on Sundays, says it will end its decade-long corporate support of culture-warrior groups that oppose gay marriage.

"Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena,” the company said in a statement Wednesday. Its charitable arm, WinShape Foundations, gave $2 million to gay-marriage opponents such as Focus on the Family in 2010 alone, according to ABC News.

The news emerged from Chicago, from the office of city Alderman Joe Moreno, who helped drive the controversy by vowing to block Chick-fil-A’s application for a building permit in Chicago’s hip Northwest Side ward over statements by CEO Dan Cathy this summer. Mr. Cathy told the Baptist Press in July that he was “guilty as charged” for supporting “the biblical definition of the family unit.”

The Southern Christian Leadership Conference in Selma

Via Billy

The plot thickens in Selma, Alabama as leftist black activists seek to stop construction of a new monument to Nathan Bedford Forrest in Selma. Most sources have noted that the monument is on property owned by the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Will they speak up and defend their right to have the Forrest monument on their own property? I guess time will tell. If they have said anything in the monument’s defense I have not heard of it. Maybe others have. If they haven’t, then all I can say is that it’s too bad to turn the field over to the left-wingers by default.

Now we have been informed via in an article by Ashley Johnson that: “The Southern Christian Leadership Conference president emeritus, Charles Steele Jr. arrived at the foot of the construction site for the Nathan B. Forrest monument in Old Live Oak Cemetery on Friday. Steele spoke on behalf of the SCLC, saying he is willing to make sacrifices to stop the monument’s construction. ‘I am ready to be arrested for freedom,’ Steele, who traveled from Atlanta to be with the protesters of the monument, said. ‘We are about to make this a national march.’” Sounds just like Jena, Louisiana and the infamous Jena 6 all over again. Bring in the marchers and the protesters, get ‘em all fired up and make sure they get their pictures takes with Je$$e Jackson and Rev. Al for $30 a throw. Steele says he is ready to be arrested for freedom. What he really means is that he is ready to be arrested trying to deny others the freedom to celebrate their heritage and history.

Global Warming Dingbat Alert: Antarctic Sea Ice Sets Another Record

Via Monty

Antarctic sea ice set another record this past week, with the most amount of ice ever recorded on day 256 of the calendar year (September 12 of this leap year). Please, nobody tell the mainstream media or they might have to retract some stories and admit they are misrepresenting scientific data.
National Public Radio (NPR) published an article on its website last month claiming, “Ten years ago, a piece of ice the size of Rhode Island disintegrated and melted in the waters off Antarctica. Two other massive ice shelves along the Antarctic Peninsula had suffered similar fates a few years before. The events became poster children for the effects of global warming. … There’s no question that unusually warm air triggered the final demise of these huge chunks of ice.”

NPR failed to mention anywhere in its article that Antarctic sea ice has been growing since satellites first began measuring the ice 33 years ago and the sea ice has been above the 33-year average throughout 2012.
