  1. About the last people I'd give the vote to are average Americans. I think Carl Jung would expand his writings today on the regressive recovery of the persona from the individual to the American state.
"Thus for Jung “the danger is that [people/the state] become(s) identical with their personas—the professor with his textbook, the tenor with his voice.”[3] The result could be “the shallow, brittle, conformist kind of personality which is 'all persona', with its excessive concern for 'what people think'”[4]—an unreflecting state of mind 'in which people are utterly unconscious of any distinction between themselves and the world in which they live. They have little or no concept of themselves as beings distinct from what society expects of them'.[5] The stage was set thereby for what Jung termed enantiodromia—the emergence of the repressed individuality from beneath the persona later in life: 'the individual will either be completely smothered under an empty persona or an enantiodromia into the buried opposites will occur'.[6]

He wrote about this over a hundred years ago. I have developed a personal model of regressive recovery of the persona, which combines Jung's and Carlos Casteneda's writings. It is working well for me and my regressed-persona-age is now back to 23 years old, 1956 was a very good year. 2013 after 80 winters not that great. Heh.

      :)Got this today from Ryan.

"The meaning of man and wife, the will to perpetuity, is being lost. People live for themselves alone, not for future generations. The nation as society, once the organic web of families, threatens to dissolve, from the city outwards, into a sum of private atoms, of which each is intent on extracting from his own and other lives the maximum of amusement — panem et circenses."
      —Oswald Spengler

How true this is. The Me Generation of the 1960s collectively screwed over their posterity, and insofar as they jeopardize their ability to perpetuate lineage, they bear the ultimate culpability in our suicidal course as a nation and as a broader Western civilization.

  3. The will to perpetuity. I love that phrase. I will send this, as I often do, to my children.

  4. I'm convinced the average person thinks that combat is just like the video games. Pull the trigger and the bad guys die.

They have not a clue as to the filth, the dirt, the sheer madness of it all. The physical conditioning that is needed to survive. The strength and endurance that combat requires.

If combat was just like the Call of Duty game, then anyone could participate. Hell, when you die, you just re-spawn and keep shooting.

Yeah, the average American FEELS combat is just like the games and movies.

Can't believe this is the same country where I grew up.
