The nation's biggest arms store, Charlotte, N.C.'s Hyatt Gun Shop, is calling on gun owners to revolt against President Obama's new gun control move, warning that Washington has its eyes on trashing the Second Amendment and stealing gun rights.

Hyatt has turned part of its retail webpage over to the plea for action: "Whining to other gun owners and giving up on dialogue with your representatives in Congress is how you GIVE AWAY your gun rights! Remember to contact your representative and senator TODAY and keep contacting them. We cannot stress this enough!"

Owner Larry Hyatt told Secrets, "People are outraged. They hate the government. I don't think we've seen this much divisiveness since the Civil War."

Hyatt's store is big. Secrets toured it during the Democratic National Convention. He describes it as America's largest gun store and it sells many of the weapons the president wants to ban, like assault-style rifles and high-capacity magazines.

He is urging gun owners to beg their House and Senate members to temper the president's effort. "Don't waste your time with the president," he said, adding: "The American people are the most scared of the government and what it might do next."

He said that his store has been flooded with customers since Obama began talking about gun control following the December Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Newtown, Conn. New gun permits in his county have tripled to 260 a day and Hyatt's classes for those seeking permits to carry a concealed weapon have jumped from 20 to 67. "There are so many people that we can't get them in," he said.

I don't think begging has worked. It might be time to try something a little stronger, like not saying please. But lets not go overboard!

  3. At this point, and I've already wrote on it, you need start making this a STATE issue, taking it to your state government officials. Your best bet is through your NC House and Senate reps. but any of the other up to and including the governor would help.

It will actually accomplish much more if you fight from the state level as the State can pass laws that will NULLIFY Federal Law. This is extremely important to know and there are many pros and cons to it, but it will make the biggest difference in cutting the tail off behind the ear, so-to-speak. And it accomplishes many more things I can't quickly or easily go into detail over here.

Your Federal Reps are a complete waste of time now. Well for us they are as their minds are already made up. Unless you see one swinging on the edge somewhere? This makes it all the easier and better to now go to your state reps and start demanding the state take steps in voiding/NULLIFYING any future Federal Laws being imposed on NC. And make it a crime for any Federal agents that tries to enforce their will here in any way, mandatory jail time and fines! There are other states that are now in the process of doing this very thing.

Look, North Carolina was the state that made the SECOND AMENDMENT possible! It was North Carolina that said she wouldn't join the union unless the 2nd Amendment was in the Bill of Rights! PLEASE people, keep North Carolina honestly first in something of real value. Make her continue to unwaveringly first and foremost be the prime protector of the Amendment she made possible! She, our ancestors done this for us... at least we can do the same for our future generations. We owe them that much besides a debt they can never repay!
