Uncle Sam's Yard Sale: Gov't looks to unload Afghanistan war hardware

Military surplus sale: Unloading unused war equipment

It could be Uncle Sam’s biggest yard sale.

After 12 years of war in Afghanistan, officials are now pondering what to do with $50 billion in equipment half a world away — including combat vehicles, dining rooms, gyms, clothing and more.

“A lot of this stuff, you're not really concerned about bringing it back,” said Jim Hasik, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council. “I mean if a Coke machine falls into the hands of the Taliban, this is just not a big disaster.”

But eventually, much of the gear will trickle down to the public. With the click of a mouse the spoils of war can be yours on govliquidation.com. Each day, new items appear on the site – as bases around the country release unneeded items – from rafts and trucks, to fire engines and pretzel stands.

CBS: More Fast & Furious guns surface at crime scenes in Mexico

Via watchful

We unfortunately haven’t had any shortage of scandalous revelations stemming from the doings of the Obama administration during the president’s tenure, but both Obama and his Department of Justice have pretty much succeeded in sweeping under the rug the deadly and ongoing consequences of one of their shadiest undertakings yet.

The media was all too happy to move on after Attorney General was formally held in contempt of Congress last year for failing to turn over subpoenaed documents relating to Operation Fast & Furious, the administration’s not-”botched” exercise in walking guns to Mexican drug cartels, and no, in case you were wondering — the Obama administration still hasn’t complied with Congressional requests for more information. They’d really be happy to just forget the whole thing ever happened, you see — but in the latest update from CBS News, Sharyl Atkisson reports that three more Fast & Furious weapons have turned up at crime scenes in Mexico, meaning that the results of what we could most charitably call the Obama administration’s outrageous negligence are far from finished.

Surveillance video: Man holds gun to child's head, pistol-whips mother

VERBATIM

According to police, Charles Anthony Jones, 41, is seen on surveillance video on July 6 pointing a gun at a child inside the Cancun Salon on Hiawatha Avenue in Sanford. The store owner and mother tried to protect her child and was thrown to the ground and hit in the head with the gun. “Two times he say, ‘Give me money, I want money,’” said the owner, Inez Rodriguez. “Take my phone. Take my computer. Everything is money,” she said. Rodriguez said he only wanted cash. There were two children in the salon at the time — one was 5 years old, and one was 10. The 10-year-old tried to run out of the salon, but Jones ran outside and pulled her back in, police said. So where are Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Barack Obama? Why are they not demanding justice in this case? It’s because this does not suit their racist agenda, pure and simple.

Original Video of Obama Aide Admitting President’s Card-Playing During Bin Laden Raid Deleted from YouTube

Via avordvet

The original video featuring an interview with former Obama bodyman Reggie Love, in which he says the president played cards the day of the Osama bin Laden raid, has been removed from YouTube after news of its contents caused an uproar. The deletion was noticed by the Washington Examiner among others.

The video was originally posted by the The Artists & Athletes Alliance YouTube account, the Examiner notes, and shows highlights of a July 18 interview with Love and Jim Newton, editor-at-large of the Los Angeles Times, which was sponsored by the Alliance and took place at UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs.

White students not eligible to transfer out of 'failing' schools in Huntsville

Via Billy

 transfers out.jpg

Huntsville City Schools approved 294 student transfers for the coming school year under federal and state law. All 294 are black students. All are leaving a majority black school and going to a majority white school.

Skin color is a factor because almost all were approved under a 43-year-old federal desegregation order. That court order dating back to the Civil Rights era still mandates the system consider race in deciding which students get to go where.

Meanwhile, Huntsville granted only six transfers under the new Alabama Accountability Act. All were black students, as system officials say they must be to comply with the desegregation order.

Superintendent Casey Wardynski said that's all the Huntsville system had space for after handling the federal transfers.

That's despite 502 requests to flee the nine "failing" schools in Huntsville.

And Huntsville, realizing it was out of space, cut off the "failing" school requests about a week early, said Wardynski.

Letters are going out now and parents will learn who received a transfer by next week. School officials say transfers are based on space available and on who applied first.

White students, under the court order, are eligible to request a transfer out of a majority white school and into a majority black school. None did this year, according to school officials.

But white students were not eligible to leave Alabama's newly labeled "failing" schools. That's because all nine "failing" schools in Huntsville are majority black.

UN Office for Disarmament Affairs – Including Americans

Via avordvet

 UNODA

Gee, in their letter below they state that there will be some Americans who will refuse to give up their guns.  Goodness, where did they ever get that idea........?:)

The United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs has released on August 5th with the turn in the ECM an amazing agenda where they will assist member nations to confiscate weapons from civilians. Who is behind this would be very interesting to find out. Effectively, there seems to be an agenda to disarm the people that can only be to cut off revolution. They will certainly not be disarming criminals. This will apply to registered guns.

Given Obama has been buying up all ammunition and tried to ban guns under the pretense of making the streets safer when it is the criminals with the guns that this would have no impact upon, this constant effort to eliminate guns from the public seems to be a very high agenda. We can only ask why? Clearly, agreeing to UN sanctions sidesteps Congress and the American People. Using UN foreign troops on American soil is another very strange agenda.

Representative Ann Wagner of Missouri, a Republican freshman on the Financial Services Committee who has pulled in a large number of industry contributions.

Now, half a year into his first term, he has emerged as a telling example of why the panel is sometimes called “the cash committee” — a place, critics say, where there are big incentives for freshmen to do special favors for the industry.

Mr. Barr, 40, a first-time elected official, has raised nearly as much money this year from political action committees run by major banks, credit unions and insurance companies as longtime lawmakers like Speaker John A. Boehner and other party leaders.

The flood of financial industry cash — $150,000 in political action committee donations to Mr. Barr in just six months — is hardly an accident.

HORROR: Thousands Missing, Lost en Route to Bakersfield Immigration Rally

Via Conservative Byte

Thousands of activists for immigration reform have gone missing after only four hundred turned up at Wednesday's rally in Bakersfield, CA outside the office of Republican Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy. Though the SEIU reported that "more than 5,000 people" had boarded buses to the rally, only a few hundred actually emerged in Bakersfield--potentially one of the greatest human tragedies in American history.

The Associated Press offered a  figure of 1,500 attendees, citing estimates from Bakersfield police. Those estimates are clearly erroneous, based perhaps on expected rather than actual turnout. A local CBS affiliate reported from Los Angeles on the morning of the rally that "3,900 people" were going to the rally.

If so, thousands were lost on the way. Many vehicles are apparently missing, as well--the CBS affiliate reported that "the largest car and bus caravan in California" had left Dodger Stadium, though an organizer filmed by Breitbart News' Lee Stranahan that morning only mentioned one truck and several other vehicles.

Black mob looting: 'This is the city of Detroit'

A store owner whose business was vandalized and looted by a black mob knows why it happened.

“This is the city of Detroit,” the owner, whose identity was not revealed, said in a televised report about the recent situation.

A black mob had rampaged through his store, brazenly stealing items off the shelves, and leaving chaos behind.

It all started because a store clerk told an unruly customer that he had to leave the store. The customer reacted by trashing the store counter and banging violently on the bullet-proof glass that was the only protection for the hapless clerk as the store was overtaken by a rowdy group of black youths.

The gang proceeded to take all the items they could grab and one of the thugs even threw a brick through the store’s window, as evidenced by the surveillance video that captured the action.

The owner called this latest incident of black mob violence “normal” and was happy enough that the damage wasn’t too severe. The owner only talked to the local Fox affiliate, which was the first news outlet to break the story, on the condition that his face wouldn’t be shown and that his name would be withheld. He didn’t even want the location of the store reported, citing a fear that copycat attacks would follow.

Obama bans U.S. companies from competition

 Image Results

The Obama administration intends to keep contractors on stand-by to help officials evaluate conditions on the Mexican side of the U.S. border, but U.S. companies are not allowed to apply for the work.

Tracking remittances – funds sent over a distance – from the U.S. to Mexico is one of several possible research and consulting services that Obama through the U.S. Agency for International Development may solicit.

Such a task will not support, for example, tax- or drug-enforcement operations. Instead, it would help determine the extent to which the funds subsequently are “invested into social or community development projects” in Mexico, according to a Request for Quotations that WND discovered via routine database research.

Only Mexican organizations – or, at the very least, groups based in Mexico that are majority owned or managed by Mexican citizens – may submit responses to the solicitation, the Scope of Work emphasizes.

Kerry: Obama Will Act on Climate Change Without Congressional Approval & Senator Launches Probe to See If WH Violated Hatch Act to Promote Climate Agenda

kerry

When you have a tyrant in power, why wait?

At a joint news conference with his Brazilian counterpart on Tuesday, Secretary of State John Kerry praised Brazil for its commitment to climate change initiatives, and he promised that the Obama administration also is determined to do something about it.

"So the challenge is ahead of us, for all of us, and I know that the United States has a great commitment under President Obama to take our own initiatives, not even to wait for congressional action, but to move administratively in order to do our part. I know we can continue to work with Brazil on this issue of climate, and we look forward to doing so."

President Obama repeatedly has said he won't wait for Congress to act -- on jobs, recess appointments, immigration, gun control, and other issues -- where "we can act administratively without additional congressional authorization, and just get it done,” as he said in October 2011.

Senator Launches Probe to See If WH Violated Hatch Act to Promote Climate Agenda

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (O-Okla.) has launched a probe into potential Hatch Act violations by the White House in its climate agenda advocacy.

Inhofe today sent letters to EPA Regional Administrator Curt Spalding and White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) Chair Nancy Sutley probing apparent coordination between CEQ and the Organization for Action (OFA) on events today pushing the president's climate change agenda and the potential violation of the Hatch Act.

According to the Hatch Act, federal employees in the executive branch, except certain designated officials such as the President or Vice President, are prohibited from engaging in political campaign activities.

In the letters, Inhofe wrote: "The OFA activities are clearly political in nature, solely targeting Republican members of the House and Senate for campaign purposes." "Cleary OFA is now engaging in political activities and it appears as though they are closely coordinating efforts with EPA and CEQ, negating their independence."

New ICE boss’ background as defense attorney for murderers, pedophiles raises questions about his credentials

 Image Results

The acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement is a former criminal defense attorney who represented accused and convicted murderers, sex offenders and pedophiles and fought for the release of violent convicted offenders -- a background some critics say makes him a less than ideal choice to lead the federal government's second-largest law enforcement agency.

John Sandweg, 38, who was recently named acting director of ICE, worked between 2002 and 2009 defending violent criminals in Arizona, and helping then-governor and current Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano raise campaign funds. Critics questioned Sandweg's credentials, with one calling him “in no way qualified” and his appointment the latest example of Napolitano's "blatant politicization" of the agency.

"I am deeply disappointed by this appointment and believe it is disrespectful to the thousands of dedicated professionals at ICE who are working tirelessly to enforce our laws and provide for our security," said Rep. John Carter, R-Texas, who chairs the House Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee. "I urge the administration to re-think this appointment and promptly appoint a qualified, confirmable applicant for this essential post."

A former administration official said news of Sandweg’s installation as acting director was met with disgust and disbelief within parts of DHS.

“He has zero law enforcement experience and he [is running] our country’s second-largest law enforcement agency -- and that’s a real job, it’s not a figure-head position,” the former official said.

Airmen Punished for Objecting to Gay Marriage

A 19-year veteran of the Air Force said he was relieved of his duties after he disagreed with his openly gay commander when she wanted to severely punish an instructor who had expressed religious objections to homosexuality.

“I was relieved of my position because I don’t agree with my commander’s position on gay marriage,” Senior Master Sgt. Phillip Monk told Fox News. “We’ve been told that if you publicly say that homosexuality is wrong, you are in violation of Air Force policy.”

The Liberty Institute is representing the Christian airman in case the Pentagon decides to retaliate.

“Are we going to have a ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy for Christians so we don’t get harassed for our beliefs?” attorney Hiram Sasser asked Fox News. “Here’s a guy who wants to have his religious liberty and serve in the military. He shouldn’t have to believe in gay marriage in order to serve.”

A spokesperson for Lackland Air Force Base public affairs told Fox News Monk was not punished and that he was simply at the end of his assignment.

“They did have a disagreement, but supposedly, they agreed to disagree,” the spokesperson told Fox News. “But the wing commander said there was no punishment.

Monk has served as a first sergeant at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio since 2011. He recently returned from a deployment and discovered he had a new commander – an open lesbian.

While the committee investigating the IRS targeting of conservative groups hasn't found any criminal violations, House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa says what it has found is even more troubling.

"Right now, what we see is something worse," Issa told Fox News on Wednesday. "We see the intent and the recognition of people that the IRS should not be a political body. And if it is, it could be the end of our democracy."

Appearing on "Hannity," Issa, R-Calif., said the targeting was ideological and "it clearly affected only conservative groups."

Egyptian protestors pushed an armoured police van 50ft off a bridge before officers were stoned by mob

Via III Percent Patriots

The police vehicle crashes through a fence as it is pushed off the 6th of October bridge in Cairo by protesters as violence in the capital escalated

  • The van was pushed off the 6th October Bridge in the Egyptian capital of Cairo during clashes
  • After it landed, protesters attacked it and threw stones at the wreckage while under fire from police
  • Not clear how many people were on board or their injuries although reports claim on Twitter that five died
  • 278 people have died across country after security forces raided camps set up by ousted Morsi supporters
  • Sky cameraman Mick Deane, a 61 year old father of two, was shot and killed as he reported on the violence

This is the horrifying moment an armoured police vehicle was pushed off a bridge by protestors in Cairo today.

The van plunged off the 6th October Bridge before demonstrators attacked the wreckage. It is not known how many people were on board and how many people survived the fall, but bloodied men were seen lying around the van moments afterwards. Unconfirmed reports on Twitter claimed five were dead.

The dramatic pictures show the van being ambushed by dozens of people before crashing through a protective fence on the bridge. It then falls upside down and then rolls onto its roof as it lands. Blood can then be seen on the ground as nearby police officers pull injured men out of the crushed vehicle.

Response to a comment from a LEO troll

There was a comment posted on my article 'The Home Invasion Dilemma - Discussion & Scenarios' which just needs to be followed up on. Why? because it speaks volumes about the mindset that many in Law Enforcement have. It needs to be addressed. I actually suspect that I know who this anonymous comment comes from, simply by its tone. If so, it's a guy who I used to 'get along with' in a useful way on a forum before I started this blog - he is in some form of Law Enforcement and got upset when I started commenting on how LE methods were going seriously wrong. It's either him, or someone similar, and either way, they are in denial.

The comment is below and to me it speaks of denial, arrogance and an unassailable ego, which also to me seems to be a large part of the problem that we are facing:

"Max you have never been SWAT, never been a LEO and have created an enemy where there was none. You might have been "special" in your arena but are not in SWAT and that just chaps you to death and I don't know why. It's a shame because if you elected to serve in that field you might have something to offer and you might learn the constraints of what it takes to be one.Half the people on here pumping your nuts are criminals themselves LOL. SWAT isn't SPECOPS and never will be I hope otherwise it will have gone way wrong. Think about joining the local force and making the difference and see of you can make the ranks."

OK, so lets break it down and address it:
