  1. How is it I have never heard of Charles Bukowski until tonight? This is the year for having my world rocked once again.... Every 20 years whether I need it or not.... I like some of his quotes very much. Do you have to drink a lot to be so profound???

    1. :) It's amazing just think of Hemingway. Alcohol certainly brings out brilliance in some,

  2. Yes, many inhibitions to be overcome and depths to be explored - alcohol and drugs certainly helped a lot of artists and authors in that regard - and haunted them as well?

    1. Bukowski was born the same year as my Mom but he died 20 years ago. He looked so haggard near the end. All we really want is to feel alive, right? Sometimes extreme measures are needed to accomplish that. Alas, the cold winter is over, and perhaps I suffer from Spring fever. The older I get, the more elusive the cure.....

    2. I am my own bartender as usual- tonight, a good red wine; hence I write the drivel that I do...

  3. As a child of an alcoholic father along with alcoholic grandfathers, I too, strayed onto that path in my youth but saw the destruction and misery it creates and leaves behind not only personally but to others as well. I enjoy a nip and a beer as well as the next person however, it doesn't rule me. As an old saying goes, wisdom is gained by seeing the failures of others and not repeating it.
