Georgia Town Bans Muslims from Doing the One Thing They Want to Do Most

Via LH

Kennesaw

The City Council of Kennesaw, Georgia has voted against allowing an Islamic religious group to rent space to open a local mosque. The vote was held as protestors outside City Hall waved signs saying “Ban Islam.” Although one council member voted to approve the application, four other members voted against the request. There was no debate about the vote.

Kennesaw’s Muslims had already agreed to a variety of limitations requested by the Kennesaw city attorney. They had accepted a limit of eighty worshipers at a time, forty parking spaces, and only a two-year lease.

  1. Kennesaw also has a law on the books that all households must have a firearm for home protection.

I was working in Kennesaw and stopped at one of the local Quick Trip to buy some gas for the trip home. I was in line behind this 80+ year old lady who accidentally dropped her quarter into her bag and precoded to empty the contents on the counter. About the 3rd item she pulled out of her purse was a Model 29 S&W 44 Magnum with a 6 inch barrel and casually laid it on the counter. It was a beautiful gun. She found her quarter, handed it to the clerk, and reloaded her pocketbook. Nobody freaked, this was a normal occurrence in Kennesaw.

  2. If they're legal US citizens, isn't what the council did just as bad as someone telling a Catholic priest that he couldn't rent a building for Mass?

I'm no fan of the religion of peace, but... we're supposed to be a country that practices freedom of religion, right? I bet the ACLU would be happy to sue the council over this... which would just beget more anti-christian rhetoric about islamaphobic racists.

    1. This may show the conflict/s.

“You know, if Christianity were killing people, I’m pretty sure I would have a problem with it. … Then I would be concerned with that moving into my neighborhood,” Clarke said. “But, I’m open, I’m inclusive. Christianity does teach love, inclusiveness, creating a better environment for everyone.”

  3. Well, there's some good news tonight ! Doesn't Newt Gingrich teach at Kennesaw College? He used to be on the faculty there. Just came across this bit of cognitive dissonance from Winston Churchill regarding muslims, which might explain some of the craziness we see in Britain yet today.

As I remember, far from being complimentary. :)

  4. This is apparently an old story, written before the Kennesaw city council "reconsidered" and caved like an Obamaville shanty.

  5. When I saw the caption on this article "Georgia Town Bans Muslims from Doing the One Thing They Want to Do Most " my first thought was "don't all towns have laws on the books banning murder?"
