What If America on the Right Acted Like Leftists?

 http://www.neontommy.com/sites/default/files/6304565010_c14eff5a69.jpg?1320262933

The leftists usually win the battles over social issues because the right has yet to enter the fray. This is the difference between America on the left and America on the right: they play by different rules. The left will always use everything at its disposal to win, whereas the right is usually limited by its  principles.

Let's take the issue of the Christian cake baker and the gay couple for instance. A gay couple, it could be argued with intent to create a legal case, goes into a bakery known for its Christian values and demands a cake to be baked for their gay wedding. The gay couple is committed to the lawsuit, probably has pro-bono, leftist, gay lawyers standing by at the ready. The Christian baker is obligated to stand by his convictions to his religious beliefs and refuses service to the gay couple.

A Supreme Court decision on the issue will reduce the religious liberty of every Christian-owned business in the nation forever. It will become a "settled" issue. It is a huge win for the leftists and a blow to liberty and Christians. It is an attack.

After fruitlessly pursuing one of the world's top drug lords for years, authorities finally drew close to Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman using a cellphone found at a house where drugs were stored.

The phone belonging to a Guzman aide was recovered with clues from a U.S. wiretap and provided a key break in the long chase to find Guzman, officials told The Associated Press on Sunday.

Another big leap forward came after police analyzed information from a different wiretap that pointed them to a beachfront condo where the legendary leader of the Sinaloa cartel was hiding, according to a U.S. government official and a senior federal law enforcement official.

When he was at last taken into custody with his beauty-queen wife, Guzman had a military-style assault rifle in the room, but he didn't go for it.

Couple walking dog find biggest gold hoard in US

Via Daily Timewaster
http://www.thehistoryblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Saddle-Ridge-Hoard.jpg

A couple walking the dog on their property in Northern California last spring discovered the biggest and most valuable gold coin hoard ever unearthed in the United States. They were treading the same well-worn path they’ve trod hundreds of times for the dog’s daily constitutional when they spotted the rusted top of a metal can sticking up out of the eroded ground. They dug the can out with a stick and took it home.

It was so heavy lugging it back proved to be quite an effort. They figured there was lead paint inside. When the lid cracked off the husband saw the seductive rib of a single gold coin. Clearing out the rest of the contents, they found a lot of dirt and a stack of $20 liberty head gold coins from the 1890s. The pair promptly returned to the find spot, an area they dubbed Saddle Ridge, and dug some more. They immediately found another can about a foot to the left of where they had found the first can. Then they found five more smaller cans, and one last can they used a metal detector to locate.

The eight cans contained a total of 1,427 gold coins.

Gladiator School Discovery Reveals Hard Lives of Ancient Warriors

Archaeologists have mapped an ancient gladiator school, where the famed warriors lived, trained, and fought.

Ancient Rome's gladiators lived and trained in fortress prisons, according to an international team of archaeologists who mapped a school for the famed fighters.

Discovered at the site of Carnuntum outside Vienna, Austria, the gladiatorial school, or ludus gladiatorius, is the first one discovered outside the city of Rome. Now hidden beneath a pasture, the gladiator school was entirely mapped with noninvasive earth-sensing technologies. (See "Gladiator Training Camp.")

Communists in all areas of the world have long recognized the potential for spreading their lies and their agenda in churches and, through deception and propaganda, they often manage to manipulate those who should be their strongest opponents—Christians. That’s right, Christians should be the major opponents of communism and socialism, if they understood Scripture. However, since many of them don’t, they wind up being the unwitting accomplices, the “useful idiots” as it were, in the spread of socialism and communism (cultural Marxism) both in this country and in the world.

There was a saying several decades ago that: “While not many ministers become Communists, a lot of Communists become ministers.” Unfortunately, that has been the truth, both in this country, in much of Latin America, Europe, and in parts of Africa.

THE DPMS GII AP4 – Taking The Tactical .308 Beyond!

The pre-production GII AP4 introduced at Gunsite rests hot and dirty on a table at Gunsite’s Shot Quad Range. It never malfunctioned.

If you thought you’d seen everything in a semi-automatic 7.62x51mm Tactical Carbine, well, don’t feel bad, as I was in the same boat.  Then I attended a pre-SHOT Show look at new firearms from Freedom Group at Gunsite Academy in Paulden, Arizona, in December 2013, and everything changed.

Among a host of new firearms for 2014 was a DPMS 7.62x51mm (.308 caliber) AR platform rifle, which stood out from the rest.  Called the GII AP4, this model amounts to a highly refined M4 type carbine designed around the .308 Winchester cartridge.  Since that description is just as highly simplified, let’s take a close look at this unique rifle.

Man fatally shot; homeowner claims self-defense

Police are investigating a fatal Thursday night shooting in which a resident said he fired in self-defense at a gunman trying to break into his East Foothills home.

Police went to the 3500 block of Pine Ridge Way near Clayton Road just before 8 p.m. on reports of shots fired. The man who called in the report met police and said an unknown man had tried to break into his home, and fired a gun in his direction. He said he then got his own firearm and shot at the suspect in self-defense. Two people then got into a car and quickly drove off, and the resident then called police. He was unharmed.

Andrew Johnson’s Ingenious Sophism

George Herbert’s 1884 history text exemplified what Northerners were led to believe about the war, and what Southern parents wanted excluded from their children’s schools. With a severely distorted understanding of the framers’ Constitution of 1787, including its provisions regarding the writ and presidential powers, Lincoln and his followers destroyed the experiment in self-government.  Apparently unknown to Andrew Johnson in 1861, the 1781 Treaty of Paris granting independence to thirteen former colonies, each individually as sovereign entities, preceded the Constitution of 1787.

Andrew Johnson’s Ingenious Sophism

“In the Senate Andrew Johnson appeared as the Senator from Tennessee . . .[and] we may take occasion, presently, to quote from his powerful speech in defense of the Union, delivered in the Senate on the 27th of July [1861]:

“It is believed that nothing has been done [by the President since Fort Sumter] beyond the Constitutional competency of Congress.  Soon after the first call for militia, it was considered a duty to authorize the commanding general, in proper cases, to suspend the Writ of Habeas Corpus; or, in other words, to arrest and detain, without resort to the ordinary processes and forms of law, such individuals as he might deem dangerous to the public safety.  The authority has been exercised but sparingly.

It was decided that we have a case of rebellion, and that the public safety does require the qualified suspension of the writ, which was authorized to be made. Now it is insisted that the Congress, and not the Executive, is vested with this power.  But the Constitution is silent as to which or who is to exercise the power; and as the provision is plainly made for a dangerous emergency . . . No more extended argument is now offered, as an opinion at some length will probably be presented by the Attorney General.

It might seem at first thought to be of little difference whether the present movement in the South be called Secession or Rebellion.  The movers well understand the difference. At the beginning they knew they could never raise their treason to any respectable magnitude by any name which implies violation of law . . . [but they accordingly] . . . commenced by an insidious debauching of the public mind; they invented an ingenious sophism, which, if conceded, was followed by perfectly logical steps through all the incidents of the complete destruction of the Union.  The sophism itself that any State of the Union may, and therefore lawfully and peaceably, withdraw from the Union without the consent of the Union or of any other State.

With little disguise that the supposed right is to be exercised only for just cause, themselves to be the sole judges of its justice, is too thin to merit any notice within the rebellion.  Thus sugar-coated they have been dragging the public mind of these sections for more than thirty years, and until at length they have brought many good men to a willingness to take up arms against the Government the day after some assemblage of men have enacted the farcical pretense of taking their State out of the Union, who could have been brought to no such thing the day before.

Our States have neither more nor less power than that reserved to them in the Union by the Constitution, no one of them ever having been a State out of the Union.  The original ones passed into the Union before they cast off their British Colonial dependence . . . Having never been States, either in substance or in name, outside of the Union, whence this magical omnipotence of State rights, asserting a claim of power to lawfully destroy the Union itself?”

Orange County, CA "inundated" with hundreds of concealed weapons applications

My son-in-law: "I applied yesterday. They booked me into their soonest available interview slot, November 15th, 2014. What a joke!"

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department may hire temporary staff to help process a flood of concealed weapons permit applications in the wake of its decision to loosen the county’s gun restrictions.

More than 500 people have applied for concealed weapons permits in Orange County in the last 10 days, nearly as many as applied all of last year.

Sheriff Sandra Hutchens announced the policy change last week in response to a pro-gun U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that California counties may no longer require residents who want to carry concealed firearms to demonstrate a specific, individualized need to do so.

Because the ruling is not yet final, and if successfully appealed may never take effect, Hutchens said applicants are encouraged to submit a statement of “good cause,” even though it’s no longer required.

Greenpeace co-founder: No scientific evidence of man-made global warming

 http://watchmen-news.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/crime_scene-610x400.jpg

There is no scientific evidence that human activity is causing the planet to warm, according to Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore, who testified in front of a Senate committee on Tuesday.

Moore argued that the current argument that the burning of fossil fuels is driving global warming over the past century lacks scientific evidence. He added that the Earth is in an unusually cold period and some warming would be a good thing.

“There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years,” according to Moore’s prepared testimony. “Today, we live in an unusually cold period in the history of life on earth and there is no reason to believe that a warmer climate would be anything but beneficial for humans and the majority of other species.”

Issa, House GOP to recall Lois Lerner

House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is hauling Lois Lerner back to Congress.

Issa told Lerner’s attorney in a Tuesday letter that he expected the retired IRS official to appear before his committee on March 5.

Lerner, the official at the center of the IRS targeting controversy, invoked her Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination at a May 2013 hearing, just days after she apologized for the agency’s treatment of Tea Party groups.

But the Oversight Committee later ruled that Lerner waived her rights by making an opening statement, setting the stage for her recall next week.

NC: Gun-control group targets Wake Forest Staples

 http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z23/cnredd/Texas-Open-Carry_zps3194403e.jpg

A gun-control group that formed after the Sandy Hook mass school shootings in Connecticut plans to ask a national chain store in Wake Forest on Wednesday to prohibit customers from bringing guns inside.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America will show up at the Staples store to make that request in person. It’s part of a national campaign to pressure the company to ban guns.

The North Carolina chapter chose that Staples because of a widely reported incident that happened there last year. A toddler reached in his mother’s purse, and discharged a handgun inside, sending a bullet through her hand.

The woman had a permit to carry a concealed handgun, and she was not charged with a crime.

'We are in the midst of a constitutional crisis': Famous liberal scorches Obama's 'dangerous' use of executive orders

“A dangerous change for our system” is how a constitutional scholar who voted for President Obama described his use of executive orders to bypass Congress.

Nationally acclaimed constitutional scholar Professor Jonathan Turley of the George Washington University Law School is the second-most cited law professor in the country.

Testifying before a House Judiciary Committee looking into whether the president is faithfully executing the law, Turley flatly stated, “We are in the midst of a constitutional crisis with sweeping implications for our system of government.”

He also said that while he may agree with many of Obama’s policies, he has grave concerns about the way the president is implementing those policies.

NC: School District Cutting Substitute Teachers’ Hours Due To Obamacare

    Via NC Renegade

Substitute teachers in North Carolina are having their hours cut so the school district won’t have to pay for their health insurance under Obamacare, WITN-NC reports.

One district in Pitt County told a WITN reporter that they’d informed substitute teachers they could only work 12 days a month or 90 hours a month. It was not a decision they wanted to make, but the Obamacare mandate forced their hand.
