The Lincoln Cult on Display: How (Commie) Eric Foner, Manisha Sinha, and James Oakes Failed to Defame Judge Napolitano

Via SHNV

Most readers of LewRockwell.com are probably familiar with how television clown Jon Stewart attempted to smear Judge Andrew Napolitano on his Comedy Central “Daily Show” a couple of weeks ago by having a panel of academic “experts” shout “That’s not true!” or “Didn’t happen!” to some of the things Judge Napolitano said in a (five-against-one) debate over Lincoln and his legacy.

Here is the main claim by the judge that outraged the panel of “experts” (Eric Foner of Columbia, Manisha Sinha of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and James Oakes of City College of New York):  Lincoln should have busied himself with “abolishing the Fugitive Slave Act, said the judge, “which Lincoln enforced and his judges enforced and his federal marshals enforced.”

The Southern States Started The Civil War By Attacking The Northern States

Via SHNV

& just wait for Commie Core's view

At least that's what some elementary public school students are being taught here in Virginia. Even if one considers the firing upon Fort Sumter as what "stared the Civil War", it is quite a leap - and extremely misleading - to state that "the southern states attacked the northern states. This started the Civil War." Taken at face value, and not knowing any better, one would assume this means the Confederacy invaded northern states. Granted, getting into the complicated issues of causation is a bit heavy for 7 year-olds; however, making this misleading statement does a disservice to their understanding as well.

The image below above was sent to me by a concerned parent of a second grader here in Virginia.
The book was assigned to his son. The image is of a page taken from the "Easy Reader Biographies" series title: "Abraham Lincoln: A Great American President, A Great American." The author, Violet Findley, has written other juvenile titles including Phonics Bingo Ladders. Wonderful.

Obama to Kill Tomahawk, Hellfire Missile Programs

The guided-missile destroyer USS Barry launches a Tomahawk cruise missile / AP

President Barack Obama is seeking to abolish two highly successful missile programs that experts say have helped the U.S. Navy maintain military superiority for the past several decades.

The Tomahawk missile program—known as “the world’s most advanced cruise missile”—is set to be cut by $128 million under Obama’s fiscal year 2015 budget proposal and completely eliminated by fiscal year 2016, according to budget documents released by the Navy.

In addition to the monetary cuts to the program, the number of actual Tomahawk missiles acquired by the United States would drop significantly—from 196 last year to just 100 in 2015. The number will then drop to zero in 2016.

The Navy will also be forced to cancel its acquisition of the well-regarded and highly effective Hellfire missiles in 2015, according to Obama’s proposal.

The proposed elimination of these missile programs came as a shock to lawmakers and military experts, who warned ending cutting these missiles would significantly erode America’s ability to deter enemy forces.

Video: One of WWII’s More Unusual Weapons, S&W Model 1940

From the M1 Garand to the Luger pistol, World War II produced its share of iconic firearms. The conflict also was the birthplace of many unusual weapons. The 1940 Smith & Wesson Light Rifle definitely falls under this category.

The carbine was Smith & Wesson’s attempt to create a pistol caliber rifle (9mm Luger) for the British in the early part of the war. For a number of reasons documented in the video below from ForgottenWeapons.com, the rifle was deemed unacceptable. Most were destroyed, but according to the Standard Catalog of Military Firearms, 7th Edition a small lot of the rifles were found in their original crates in the 1970s at the company’s Springfield, Mass., factory.

Putin all smiles over expected Syrian 'victory'

Arab countries in the Middle East widely expect Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to win the rebel-led insurgency that has been targeting his regime for the last three years, which would Russia’s presence in the region.

The anticipated victory will further solidify the position of the large Russian Navy fleet docked at Syria’s Tartus port. That position is more strategic now that Russia has seized the Ukrainian naval headquarters in Sevastopol, where Moscow stationed its Black Sea Fleet.

Control of both the Tartus and Sevastopol ports provides Russia, under President Vladimir Putin, with open access to the Mediterranean, the Indian Ocean and beyond for both military and energy needs.

Russia and Iran have been the biggest state backers of Assad, while the U.S. and moderate Arab countries worked to aid the rebels fighting to topple the Syrian president.

Ahead of the Arab summit in Kuwait this week, Sunni Arab countries are operating under the working assumption that Assad’s regime is no longer in danger and that the Syrian president will be able to quell the rebellion, Egyptian security officials told WND.

AK-47 Hog Blaster – The Ultimate Counter Insurgency Weapon

 cover

A rancher I know in Florida has a pig problem.  He invited the GunsAmerica staff to help in his eradication efforts, and I was more than willing to oblige.  I’d never hunted hogs, but have yet to find a part of the pig I didn’t like to eat.  And because I review guns, I asked a simple question: “what is the best gun for hunting hogs?”  Everyone seems to have a different opinion.

Some prefer the compact design and rapid-fire potential of the AR-15. Others leaned toward the power and range of the .30-06 and .308s. Those who’ve hunted with a good 6.8 spc were passionate about the caliber’s performance. No one mentioned 7.62×39, much less the venerable AK platform’s design. As one who prefers the Kalashnikov over the Stoner, I knew what I was going to take. And now, after the hunt, I’d put my AK up against the biggest hogs south Florida has to offer.

One drug to rule them all: Researchers find treatment that kills every kind of cancer tumor

 http://goldenageofgaia.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/cancerdrug_640-300x168.jpg

Researchers might have found the Holy Grail in the war against cancer, a miracle drug that has killed every kind of cancer tumor it has come in contact with.

The drug works by blocking a protein called CD47 that is essentially a “do not eat” signal to the body’s immune system, according to Science Magazine.

This protein is produced in healthy blood cells but researchers at Stanford University found that cancer cells produced an inordinate amount of the protein thus tricking the immune system into not destroying the harmful cells.

With this observation in mind, the researchers built an antibody that blocked cancer’s CD47 so that the body’s immune system attacked the dangerous cells.

Ukraine Leader In New Leaked Recording: 8 Million Russians In Ukraine "Must Be Killed With Nuclear Weapons"

Via WiscoDave

Update from WiscoDave

I received this response from a friend who is from Russia - he's as red blooded a Constitutionalist now as I am!

"It doesn't sound as bad in Russian as RT makes it out to be - the problem is, not many people here speak Russian to know it. She was angry at Putin's actions, so she said she's ready to grab a gun and start shooting those Russkies starting with Putin. But that's how a pissed woman may talk even if she's not a politician or never held a gun. As for the nukes, it's a jocular hyperbole - "fire-squading someone with the nukes" is a deliberate absurdity, similar to "rocket surgery."

You can't nuke people in front of you, just as you can't selectively nuke people who are dispersed throughout a country. So what she really meant was "kick their asses," which can mean anything at all. As for the implied anti-Russian ethnic hatred there, that's also absurd because her own first language is Russian - and here's the kicker - the whole conversation was in Russian!"

******************************

Brilliant! * Took the words right out of my mouth.

But the smoking gun, and where Putin once again shows just how masterful of a chess player he is, is the following statement by Tymoshenko, after asked, rhetorically, by her counterparty, "what should we do now with the 8 million Russians that stayed in Ukraine. They are outcasts"... to which she replies: "They must be killed with nuclear weapons."

Needless to say, that is not how you make Russian friends, or diffuse geopolitical tensions with your superpower neighbor, who just happens to be set on recreating USSR 2.0. *Because just like that Putin has his provocation carte blanche, as the second something, anything happens to any ethnic Russian in east Ukraine, Putin can point to precisely this conversation as proof of how Ukraine's "government" feels toward the ethnic minorities in the east, and why "they deserve to be protected" the Russian bearhug. Which has been precisely Putin's plan all along.

Extraordinary collection of 5,000 WWI photographs salvaged from RUBBISH DUMPS

Via WiscoDave

Horrifying: This salvaged image shows the terrible conditions from the First World War, where this trench is strewn with bodies and rubbish while servicemen watch on

A dustman with a passion for history has compiled one of the Britain's best collections of First World War photographs after spending decades fishing out pictures from rubbish dumps and bins.

Bob Smethurst spent 36 years working in refuse and began saving the remarkable images from landfill because he could not bear to see them destroyed.

He believes as soldiers from the conflict grew old and died a lot of their remarkable memorabilia was often thrown out, especially in the 1970s and 1980s.

Aborted babies incinerated to heat UK hospitals

Via LH

The bodies of thousands of aborted and miscarried babies were incinerated as clinical waste, with some even used to heat hospitals, an investigation has found.

Ten NHS trusts have admitted burning foetal remains alongside other rubbish while two others used the bodies in ‘waste-to-energy’ plants which generate power for heat.

Last night the Department of Health issued an instant ban on the practice which health minister Dr Dan Poulter branded ‘totally unacceptable.’

At least 15,500 foetal remains were incinerated by 27 NHS trusts over the last two years alone, Channel 4’s Dispatches discovered.

The programme, which will air tonight, found that parents who lose children in early pregnancy were often treated without compassion and were not consulted about what they wanted to happen to the remains.

Black mob hits white girl in Face with brick.

A 19-year-old Temple University student suffered serious facial injuries after an attacker hit her with a brick only a block from campus Friday.

The student was walking with her 20-year-old boyfriend, who also attends Temple, near 16th and Norris streets around 6 p.m. when a group of about 10 teens and young children began taunting them, according to sources.

The group of attackers consisted of boys and girls ranging in age from about 8 to 14-years-old, according to the victim's boyfriend.

"A couple of them started to grab at her earrings and her hair," he said. "My instinct was to stop them from hurting us and leave and get away."

He says he asked the group to back off, but his request went unheard as a female member of the group took a brick and smashed his 19-year-old girlfriend in the face.

Police Murder James Boyd

Via NC Renegade

38 year old James Boyd had been camping in a spot that the state deemed "illegal." Trigger happy officers were dispatched to the scene and Boyd was murdered by them.

Boyd was being cordial and surrendering and he started walking down the mountain. At this point the aggressive and violent escalation by police led to a flash bang grenade and then shots fired.

Apparently cops wearing cameras does not deter them from murdering people.

*****************************

Homeless Man Shot Dead By Albuquerque PD

There seems to be closer to 15-20 feet of horizontal separation, and perhaps 4-5 feet of vertical separation on rough, boulder-strewn terrain. Again, as far as Boyd’s movement shows, he was intent on increasing that separation, and is turning away from the officers when shots are fired.
Lets be very clear here: if there was a shorter separation gap, it is because officers were moving aggressively to close the distance to Boyd.

From the perspective of the helmet camera of Officer Perez, I don’t see where he was justified in taking the three shots that he did on a man turning away from them.

Separately, Perez seems to be in a bad position to be taking any shots at all. The two officers on the hillside ahead of him had rapidly shifted into position as the advanced up the hill, and they stepped in front of Perez. This could have easily resulted in a “blue on blue” shooting, and Perez should have lowered his rifle.

An even more concerning factor is that the other APD officer who fired on Boyd, Keith Sandy, isn’t even supposed to have a gun or a badge, as he was fired from the New Mexico State Police for fraud.

Obama Judge: Mexican Border Fence May Have “Disparate Impact” on Minorities

Via Blue

 http://www.judicialwatch.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Logo10_22Slider.jpg

This obviously isn't a sane world.

A Homeland Security initiative to put fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border could discriminate against minorities, according to an Obama-appointed federal judge who’s ruled that the congressionally-approved project may have a “disparate impact on lower-income minority communities.”

This of course means that protecting the porous—and increasingly violent—southern border is politically incorrect. At least that’s what the public college professor at the center of the case is working to prove and this month she got help from a sympathetic federal judge. Denise Gilman, a clinical professor at the taxpayer-funded University of Texas-Austin, is researching the “human rights impact” of erecting a barrier to protect the U.S. from terrorists, illegal immigrants, drug traffickers and other serious threats.
