Outgoing Governor Pat McCrory traveled to New York City where he met President-elect Donald Trump.
McCrory did not speak to reporters as he walked across the lobby of Trump Tower and his office did not return a request for a comment.
McCrory was an early supporter of Trump and Trump is known to value those who gave him early support.
Having recently faced the destruction along the coast from Hurricane Matthew and the wildfires in the Western mountains, some observers think McCrory might be under consideration for FEMA Director.
