Charlottesville Tarp Wars Heat Up: Southern Avenger Charged Again

 No automatic alt text available.

Southern Avenger arrested late last night in Jackson Park in Charlottesville after tarps covering both the Lee and Jackson were removed SIX times over the past two weeks.

Witnesses report 20+ law enforcement officers, including several in street clothes on the scene, who drew their weapons and actually ordered the accused and other bystanders down on the ground before they made the arrest.

All of this to reportedly prevent citizens from removing tarps that were placed illegally in the first place.  It must be a real comfort to Charlottesville citizens to know that their police chief and City Council consider the removal of ILLEGAL tarps the city’s top crime priority, devoting excessive time, manpower, and resources...to protecting tarps.

The Southern Avenger was charged with trespassing... yes, trespassing in a public park... and released on $1,000 bond.

We covered the bond, but many of you have asked how you can help. If you would like to contribute to the fund to help pay the bond, please send your contribution to the Va Flaggers and note:  "Southern Avenger" on the payment. . Any amount above $1,000 raised will go toward legal expenses for his defense. Any amount left after legal defense expenses will be used for Charlottesville heritage defense projects.

  1. Lets see, it's okay to topple and mutilate a little Confederate
soldier in Durham, North Carolina, intentionally, and have
the charges all dismissed which, based on the criminal intent
and video taping , should have brought a five yr. prison
sentence. But protecting a Confederate monument is a crime.
Criminals getting off scot-free just like the cockroach
criminals in Sewer City. Lady Justice isn't blind - never
was - that's another statue that can be tossed.
