Confederate Powder Works Rededication Oct. 9th

Plan to attend the rededication service of the newly restored Confederate Powder Works Chimney in Augusta, Georgia on October 9th, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. The service will be held at the chimney, which is located at 1717 Goodrich Street in Augusta. The Confederate Powder Works was the only large scale structure that was commissioned and paid for by the Confederate States government. The facility consisted of 26 buildings that stretched 2 miles along the canal in Augusta and provided black powder for our Southern men throughout the War for Southern Independence. The chimney is the only remaining portion of the facility. The B/G E. Porter Alexander Camp #158, Sons of Confederate Veterans, have spent the last 8 years raising the $192,000 to restore this chimney.
