The Wave Continues To Rise
HERE.
"This report should shake up even the most optimistic of Democrats:Republicans are winning eight out of 10 competitive open House seats surveyed in a groundbreaking new poll by The Hill. Taken on top of 11 GOP leads out of 12 freshman Democratic districts polled last week, The Hill 2010 Midterm Election Poll points toward 19 Republican victories out of 22 races, while Democrats win only two and one is tied.
The telltale signs of a wave election — the vulnerability of previously “safe” seats — are popping up around the country:
The GOP appears ready to take retiring Rep. David Obey’s (D-Wis.) seat. The chairman of the Appropriations Committee announced his retirement in May, and Republican Sean Duffy holds a nine-point lead over Democrat Julie Lassa.
Democrats have held Arkansas’s 1st congressional district for almost a century, but Republicans have a solid lead going into November. The Hill’s poll found Republican candidate Rick Crawford leads by 12 points, 46 percent to Democrat Chad Causey’s 34. Rep. Marion Berry is retiring.
How’s the president doing pumping up the base? Not very well:
This week’s poll suggested Democrats face an enthusiasm gap in the districts surveyed despite efforts by Obama and national Democrats to close the difference. Ninety percent of Republicans surveyed said they will definitely vote, versus 85 percent for Democrats and 84 percent for independents.
Obama’s approval ratings were a net negative in the 10 districts, with 51 percent of likely voters voicing disapproval of the job he is doing. Among independent voters that number is higher, with 56 percent disapproving; 42 percent of independents “strongly disapprove” of the president.
Not even demonizing the Chamber of Commerce has helped his side.
There’s less than three weeks to go. At this point, the persuasion stage is drawing to an end, and both sides are shifting to mobilizing and turning out their supporters. Right now, Democrats don’t have enough of them, and those they do have aren’t go to be easy to drag to the polls. As for Republicans, they can only hope that Obama remains as visible and as unpopular as he now is."

Illegal Aliens And A Chinese Hero
========
"The woman in charge of our immigration enforcement [Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano] said she 'doesn't know' what to do about the country's celebrity illegal alien, Nicky Diaz, former housekeeper for California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman. Hang on -- it gets ditzier. Secretary Napolitano ... [said] that 'obviously this is ultimately a matter for California voters to decide.' I'm guessing the Arizona folks have a question for her: 'Madam Secretary, if it's 'ultimately a matter for California voters to decide' what to do about an illegal immigrant, why can't we? By the way, Gov. Jan Brewer loves your answer.'"

Editorial Exegesis
"The contrast between the Nobel Committee's choice for its Peace Prize a year ago and today couldn't be more stark. In 2009, the Norwegian group tapped President Obama for its prestigious award. On Friday, they chose a genuine hero: Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo. Mr. Obama was nominated within days of taking office, and the committee ridiculously claimed it awarded him the prize not for his accomplishments, but for the promise of what he might achieve. Mr. Liu was selected 'for his long and nonviolent struggle for fundamental human rights in China.' Such is the distinction between style and substance.
Mr. Obama has performed on the world stage with an audience of billions. Mr. Liu's stage is a lonely Chinese prison cell, where he's serving an 11-year sentence for his role as co-author of 'Charter 08,' a human rights manifesto published to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 2008. ... The 1989 Tiananmen Square protests brought him home to Beijing, where he was instrumental in persuading student demonstrators to vacate the square prior to the start of violence on June 4. Mr. Liu was imprisoned following the crackdown and released in 1991 after he 'repented,' according to state media. He was rearrested five years later for signing a letter calling for the impeachment of then-President Jiang Zemin and spent three more years in prison. Mr. Liu's persecution calls attention to Mr. Obama's thin record as a peacemaker. ... Mr. Liu's persistent acts of defiance in the name of freedom have the power to inspire real change in China and elsewhere. Evidently, the Nobel Committee learned a lesson from its poor choice last year and took pains to rectify the mistake by honoring a real hero this time around."

He maintains: What if nearly all of the mortgages that were securitized (mortgage loans that were bundled and sold as securities) over the last decade are actually unsecured or worthless paper? A couple court cases forced by actions like this, could set off the stampede."You wish to take our guns........
Very well, you may wish away
But would you really dare
To do the taking yourself?
Whom would you send in your place
To do the perilous deed
Some cop who has wife and kids
Or soldiers with tanks in the lead?
Would you slaughter your countrymen
To fight the menace of guns
That stand inertly in safes
Threatening no one
Would you risk your life for the cause
Or put other people at risk
You, the noble crusader
For safety, quiet and peace."
