"We in this room are all men who believe that actions speak louder then words. If I can impart anything from my life as a soldier it is this: There are only two types of warrior in this world. Those that serve tyrants and those that serve free men. I have chosen to serve free men, and if we as warriors serve free men, we must love freedom more than we love our own lives. It is a simple philosophy but one that has served me well in life."

What happens when the great fantasies, like wind power (or Global warming) or European Union, collide with reality?

It might seem strange to link global warming and the futility of wind farms with the ongoing collapse of the euro. But in several directions at the moment we can see the unfolding of one of the hidden patterns shaping human affairs, which years ago I called “the fantasy cycle”. It is a pattern that recurs in personal lives, in politics, in history – and in storytelling.

When we embark on a course of action which is unconsciously driven by wishful thinking, all may seem to go well for a time, in what may be called the “dream stage”. But because this make-believe can never be reconciled with reality, it leads to a “frustration stage” as things start to go wrong, prompting a more determined effort to keep the fantasy in being. As reality presses in, it leads to a “nightmare stage” as everything goes wrong, culminating in an “explosion into reality”, when the fantasy finally falls apart.

Recent events show us two huge examples of this cycle moving to its final stages.

Fire Extinguishers could be banned as a fire safety hazard

"The point to remember is that what the government gives it must first take away."

Fire extinguisher

Fire extinguishers could be removed from communal areas in flats throughout the country because they are a safety hazard, it has emerged.

The life-saving devices encourage untrained people to fight a fire rather than leave the building, risk assessors in Bournemouth decided.

There are fears that their recommendation, which has seen the extinguishers ripped out of several private, high-rise flats in the town, could set a national precedent.

Under the Fire Safety Order of 2005, fire assessments must be carried out to 'eliminate or reduce risk as is reasonably practical'.

But Mike Edwards, who lives in one of the blocks, said he was 'absolutely staggered' that risk experts thought it a safe decision.

'They are worried we will point them in the wrong direction or use the wrong extinguishers,' he said. 'But if you are trapped in a burning building, you will work out how to use one.'

Memories Of The Republic Of South Vietnam

FOUGHT TILL THE END -
"A South Vietnamese machine gunner lies dead in his foxhole with hundreds of shells surrounding him. The knee-deep spent shells are silent proof that he fought to his death when Viet Cong overran his position at the Michelin Rubber Plantation, 45 miles northwest of Saigon. "A Request for Perspective"

“Only in Washington can a budget that spends more than it did the year before, with a larger deficit, be portrayed as ‘cutting.’”
-- Senator Rand Paul.
====================================
Fort Sumter - December 9, 1863

"Today, April 12th, is the day. You know which day. American Civil War 1. RevWar 2. War of Secession. Whatever you want to call it. The day the south abandoned the "No More Fort Sumters" policy...

It wasn't civil though, no matter how you look at it.

I would like to once again ask for your help and input. This goes out primarily to those who live in the former CSA, but I would likewise value opinions and input from those north of the Mason Dixon, as well.

I was raised north of the Mason-Dixon, in Illinois, the "Land of Lincoln". I spent my childhood and young adulthood under the understanding that you "nasty, racist, evil southerners" fought in the "Civil War" for slavery. You know, the standard victor's propaganda and all... I studied the War, was a Yankee (and occasional Confederate) re-enactor, and the funny thing was, in spite of my in-depth knowledge of trivial matters such as AP Hill's favorite shirt (red fireman style), dates and casualties, as well as the sequence of most of the major battles, and the gear, weapons and equipment, used, I never delved into the war from the South's perspective, until recent years.

What I've found has absolutely blown me away.

I read DiLorenzo's books on Lincoln, ordered many books from the Confederate Reprint Company, and have completely changed my opinion on the struggle, its origins, execution, and consequences.

Although I live almost as far north as an American can live, I consider my self a Southerner "in spirit". Whether that flies with any of you south of the Mason-Dixon, well, that might be another story.

Here's the question I have, and I would like to hear personal stories, family stories, I would like to get recommendations of websites and offline books to read, to help me better understand.

What is it like? Really?

What is it like what is is like to have met, been defeated by, and then to have been razed by a relentless, materially superior enemy that is interested only in obtaining the submission of its foes?

What is it like to be "part of the good 'ole US of A, when you know that the "U" was obtained only after your kinsmen and ancestors were murdered to make it so? After the US government applied "scorched earth" to your lands in a manner that would've made any despoiler throughout history proud? After "reconstruction", a subjugation plan which was on par with the disastrous US "Morgenthau plan" in post WW2 Europe?

Moral high ground? In my experience, popular opinion says the north held the "moral high ground". Well, they won. As I've said before, the victor writes the history.

What is it like to be demonized and vilified in the way that you have been by the US government?

I cannot imagine.

I say I'm a Southerner in spirit, but I'm not presumptuous enough to pretend I can really understand the way you do. I'm sure many from the former CSA don't give it a second thought. I know for a fact that many do.

I don't care much for the official version. Help me learn your story, if you would. Posting here would be great; contacting me via my contact form will work as well. There are likely more than a few of you with perspectives that I would really value.

I know this, for what it's worth. If I ever get seriously back into re-enacting the war, I will never put on that blue uniform again.

Never.

Resist."

"Known as technology demonstrators, these pioneering stealth aircraft remained top secret for years after their final flights before being declassified. Categorised as black projects and operating from the secret Groom Lake test site in Nevada, popularly known as Area 51, the three groundbreaking designs below tested low observable technologies and proved that stealth aircraft could operate deep behind enemy lines with a high degree of survivability. Together, they helped return the element of surprise to air warfare."

"The US budget deficit shot up 15.7 percent in the first six months of fiscal 2011, the Treasury Department said Wednesday as political knives were being sharpened for a new budget battle.

The Treasury reported a deficit of $829 billion for the October-March period, compared with $717 billion a year earlier, as revenue rose a sluggish 6.9 percent as the economic recovery slowly gained pace."

Does Hawaii ever release long-form birth certificates? Yes!

A former official with the Hawaii Department of Health says the short-form "Certification of Live Birth" displayed by the Obama campaign in 2008 to demonstrate the candidate's constitutional eligibility as a "natural born citizen" to occupy the Oval Office is the only document the state releases.

But the experience of others who have received copies of original long-form birth certificates by request contradicts Chiyome Fukino, former head of the state agency in charge of birth records, including those that may reveal details of Barack Obama's 1961 birth.

It was in an interview with MSNBC that Fukino asserted that the state issues only short-form Certifications of Live Birth.

Be the first to get the new eligibility book signed by Jerome Corsi and help get TV commercials on the air to bust this issue wide open!

"What he got, everybody got," Fukino said in the interview. "He put out exactly what everybody gets when they ask for a birth certificate."

Joshua Wisch of the Hawaii attorney general's office went further, telling MSNBC the original document belongs to the state and cannot be released to anyone – or copied by anyone.

"It's a Department of Health record and it can't be released to anybody," he told MSNBC, saying there are no provisions that authorize copying such records.

The short-form document that Obama's campaign released in 2008:

The document, which contains no information regarding birth hospital, attendant, doctor or other details found on all original long-form birth certificates, contrasts with the birth certificate from Hawaii made public by Susan Nordyke, who was born in Honolulu Aug. 5, 1961, just one day after Obama's reported date of birth and in the same hospital where he was reportedly born.

Confederate Memorial Day, Stone Mountain 09 April, 2011

http://budswebs.homeip.net/Confederate/Mech-Cav/2011-04-09_StoneMtn/IMG_5838.jpg

"In spite of impending rain, hundreds of Southern patriots gathered at the Stone Mountain carving to honor their Confederate ancestors.

Stone Mountain, the largest single block of granite in the world, also has the honor of holding the largest Confederate memorial in the world.

The enormous carving on its north face, the largest bas-relief in the world, depicts three figures of the Confederate States of America: Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson.

The entire carved surface measures 3 acres, about the size of three football fields. The carving of the three men towers 400 feet above the ground, measures 90 by 190 feet , and is recessed 42 feet into the mountain. The deepest point of the carving is at Lee's elbow, which is 12 feet to the mountain's surface

Over fifty members of the SCV Mechanized Cavalry came from four States to pay homage to their Confederate ancestors. Represented were North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia."

Afghan rules of engagement force U.S. soldiers to free insurgents caught red-handed

Several Taliban detainees who had been captured in February after being observed placing bombs in the culverts of roads used by civilians and military convoys near Kandahar were fed, given medical treatment, then released by American troops frustrated by a policy they say is forcing them to kick loose enemies who are trying to kill them.

Despite what American soldiers say was a mountain of evidence, which included a video of the men planting the bomb and chemical traces found on their hands, there was nothing the soldiers who had captured them could do but feed and care for them for 96 hours and then set them free.

In another incident, members of a unit attached to 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment survived an attack by a suicide bomber on their convoy when his device failed to detonate. Soldiers managed to capture the would-be martyr, but he too was released after being held for four days.

"We put our lives on the line to capture the enemy," a soldier with the Stryker regiment told The Washington Examiner. "Since my deployment, every insurgent we've captured has been released."

The smoking gun of the teachers union's illegal sick-out

"Only a fool would think that the sick out that closed down Madison schools for five days in February was anything but an illegal, union-coordinated, illegal strike.

But there are a lot of fools in Madison, aren’t there?

Now there is proof that the sickout was a premeditated, union-authorized job action -- a phone tree of teachers calling other teachers to close down the schools. This kind of activity is prohibited by the union’s own contract and illegal in WI Statute Chapter 111.84(2)(e):

It is unfair practice for an employee individually or in concert with others: To engage in, induce or encourage any employees to engage in a strike, or a concerted refusal to work or perform their usual duties as employees.

The problem, of course, is finding an impartial prosecutor -- but that would require a level of professionalism sorely lacking in the Doyle-appointed incumbent.

Roger Atkinson Pryor, 1828-1919

Visitors to Princeton, New Jersey, may find there the grave of a former New York state judge who died in 1919 at the advanced age of 90. Judge Roger Pryor was not from New Jersey, however, nor was he a native of New York. A Virginian by birth, as a young man Pryor had been one of the Old Dominion's foremost secessionist "fire-eaters." Impatient with Virginia's reluctance to secede from the Union, Pryor traveled to South Carolina in April 1861 and gave a speech urging the newborn Confederacy to resist Abraham Lincoln's attempt to reinforce the U.S. Army contingent holding the fort that commanded Charleston harbor.

"Strike a blow!" Pryor cried, assuring his "immense and enthusiastic audience" that if the crisis led to war, Virginia would secede immediately -- "within an hour by Shrewsbury clock," he said.

Hoard now; hoard quietly.

View Image

Guerrilla Hoarding

"The Austrian investment counselor Jack Pugsley once explained another perspective on hoarding: it is an investment. A low-income family may not be able to afford precious metals, but they can afford to invest in dry or canned consumables. Last year, with some frequency, my grocery store sold a 900-gram package of pasta for 99¢. With wheat shortages, and with the American government diverting almost 30 percent of corn crops into producing ethanol, food products dependent on grain have skyrocketed. The same package of pasta now regularly costs $2.99. If a struggling family bought 60 packages of the 99¢ pasta for a future consumption of one package a week, then their hoarding would have knocked perhaps $100 off their grocery bill. By consistently buying more than they immediately need of bargain items, the family can build a solid pantry to sustain them through unemployment, inflation or scarcity."

Fort Sumter Death Toll: 1 horse, no humans

Death Toll From Lincoln’s

Response to Fort Sumter: 670,000 humans (including 50,000 Southern civilians); thousands of horses

This certainly seems like a measured, prudent, statesmanlike response by Lincoln. I’m beginning to understand why the Lincoln cultists at the Claremont Institute, Hillsdale College, and elsewhere make such a big deal about Lincoln’s “prudence” and “statesmanship.” Or at least I’m beginning to understand how they define these terms.

The Official, Politically-Correct Cause of the 'Civil War'
The memo has gone out. Since 2011 is the 150th anniversary of the start of the War to Prevent Southern Independence the Lincoln Cult, aided and abetted by the many worshippers of the centralized, bureaucratic, Leviathan state that he founded, has been hard at work since the first week of January endlessly repeating the politically-correct version of the one sole cause theory of the "Civil War."

The United States Constitution (Article III, Section 3) provides that “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.” It is important to note the Constitution’s word “them,” and not “it” when referring to the United States. It was 150 years ago today that an American president plotted and initiated war against South Carolina.

Abe Lincoln Inaugurates War Against South Carolina:

April 12:

“It was 2:20AM. The Confederates having decided, James Chesnut penned the following instruction:

“By authority of Brigadier General Beauregard, commanding the provisional forces of the Confederate States, we have the honor to notify you that he will open fire of his batteries on Fort Sumter in one hour from this time.”

Biographer Hudson Strode would describe the parting:

“Major Anderson accepted the decision ruefully…As the Confederates took their courteous leave, they saw that he was deeply moved. Anderson did them the honor of accompanying them down to their little boat and seeing them into it. In brotherly farewell he pressed their hands, one after another. As the Confederates pulled away, the Kentuckian called out softly, “If we never meet in this world again, may God grant that we may meet in the next.”

Out on Morris Island, Edmund Ruffin, of Virginia, was ready. Captain Cuthbert had sought him out a few hours earlier and told him the company had voted that he fire the first cannon at Fort Sumter should the order be given, as was expected. Just before 4:00AM the men hastened to their posts. The artillerists aimed the cannon. Ruffin made ready. The signal gun flashed from Fort Johnson across the harbor.

Edmund Ruffin fired the first cannon at Fort Sumter at 4:30AM, an hour and ten minutes after the deadline presented in James Chesnut’s final message to Robert Anderson. The cannon ball surged from Morris Island, across Charleston Harbor, and on toward the mid-harbor fort. It struck “at the northeast angle of the parapet.” At the same time Federal warships were gathering offshore in preparation for an assault planned for the following night, about 20 hours later. Then the other cannon ringing Charleston Harbor began firing. The Confederate cannon would fire at two-minute intervals for many hours.

The Federal Naval fleet did not invade Charleston Harbor that night. It seems that William Seward’s purposely confounding instructions to the most powerful warship, the Powhatan, had immobilized the command structure off Charleston Harbor. Gustavus Fox, who was bobbing out there on the [USS] Baltic, was itching to move into battle, but S.C. Rowan, commander of the [USS] Pawnee refused to allow it. The whole purpose of the military mission to Charleston Harbor was to incite Jeff Davis to order cannon fire against the Federal garrison. That objective had been met, and moving into Charleston Harbor with Federal warships must have seemed unnecessary to the more politically astute Federal Navy officers.
