Will we ever stop warmongering? General Fired for Verbal Attack on Afghan Leader

A top U.S. general in Afghanistan was fired Friday for making disparaging remarks about Afghan President Hamid Karzai and his government.

Maj. Gen. Peter Fuller, deputy commander of the NATO training mission in Afghanistan, made the remarks in an interview with Politico that was published Thursday.

Fuller told Politico that major players in the Afghan government are "isolated from reality." Fuller reacted angrily to claims from Karzai that Afghanistan would side with Pakistan if it were to go to war with the United States.

Fuller called Karzai's statements "erratic," adding, "Why don't you just poke me in the eye with a needle! You've got to be kidding me … I'm sorry, we just gave you $11.6 billion and now you're telling me, 'I don't really care'?"

Gen. John R. Allen, the commander of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), released a statement Friday saying Fuller was to be relieved of his duties, "effective immediately."

"These unfortunate comments are neither indicative of our current solid relationship with the government of Afghanistan, its leadership, or our joint commitment to prevail here in Afghanistan", Allen said.

"The Afghan people are an honorable people, and comments such as these will not keep us from accomplishing our most critical and shared mission-bringing about a stable, peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan."

Pentagon officials who spoke to Fox News on the condition of anonymity agree that Fuller seemed to go off the rails in the Politico interview, admitting he showed extremely poor judgment. The fish line didn't help his cause:

"You can teach a man how to fish, or you can give them a fish," Fuller said. "We're giving them fish while they're learning, and they want more fish! [They say,] 'I like swordfish, how come you're giving me cod?' Guess what? Cod's on the menu today."

Congratulations, Sir, well said!

Mo' Carolina Beach Music: Jimmy James & Vagabonds - Come To Me Softly (Uncut Original Stereo)

Certainly one of the more impressive orchestrations for any pop song of the 60's, the Jamaican-born Jimmy James and his back-up group, The Vagabonds, hit it big on the Carolina Beaches with this one back in '68. Although not a "shag" song and not to be confused with the Fleetwood's 50's classic "Come Softly To Me", the beach music crowd was always quick to grab hold of a good slow-dance tune, and this one fit the bill perfectly.

THE SEDUCTIVE BEAUTY AND HORROR OF WASHINGTON

Angry White Dude
VERBATIM POST
=========

Angry White Dude was given a 3 hour personal tour of the Capitol last night by a Congressman. It was different from normal tours as we were able to access the House and Senate floors. Last night at 11:15, the Big Sexy stood behind and gripped the podium where presidents give the State of the Union address…which was a thrill. We visited the Senate floor and AWD saw the very desk where Daniel Webster delivered towering speeches, often cracking the lid while slamming it shut to emphasize a point. We visited the rotunda where AWD imagined in front of their statues if George Washington and Thomas Jefferson would have ever imagined the government they created through inspiration, compromise, prayer and reasoned debate would have a $16.7 trillion debt? I came to the conclusion they would torch everything in sight. The sense of majesty and history felt in the Capitol is like one I have never felt. It was beautiful, ornate, holy in some ways. Yet, in others it was horrifying.

For those who have never visited the House and Senate chambers, they are opulent with gold leaf, murals and massive paintings of the Founding Fathers. History hangs in the air thick enough to cut and one wonders how many of our national heroes have tread in the very spot where one stands. The chambers reminded me of photos I have seen of Versailles. It is most certainly opulence fitting the greatest nation in the history of the world. And then, all at once, the history, majesty and magic suddenly ended.

The desk of John McCain! AWD stood beside the desk of John McCain on the front row of the Senate floor. All of a sudden patriotic visions of Adams, Jefferson and great American statesmen turned into modern-day arrogance and corruption from those we call leaders. Then the desk of Lindsey Graham…and Orrin Hatch…and John Kerry…Olympia Snowe. And immediately the horrors of the institution cried out like a scream in the dark.

My host was most thorough in his tales of the history of the Capitol and its inhabitants. He is a conservative congressman who has served many terms. Yet, I couldn’t help but notice he was in love with the place and what takes place there. He let himself show when he spoke of laughing with Steny Hoyer or chatting with Nancy Pelosi. His fond tales of the great Joe Lieberman crying during Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech. All of those stories made me a little more ill. Don’t misunderstand, the congressman votes right the vast majority of the time and is a good man. But he was seduced by the Capitol, its history and the unequalled power given to those who hold public office.

By the time we finished our tour on the House floor, I felt a sense of revulsion. The Capitol was the most beautiful and ugly thing I had seen. The building is fitting of the goodness and greatness of America. But the inhabitants foul the sacred history of the institution. They too have bought into the ugliness of power. Too many elected officials no longer are concerned about their constituents or, in too many cases, the country in which the Capitol represents. They have created for themselves a system where they are re-elected at a rate of more than 99%. We see leader after leader dying in office. That is the only way they will leave. Robert Byrd is a perfect example, having to be wheeled in on a gurney to make votes before passing. Texas Congressman Ralph Hall will turn 90 if he is re-elected. Why does one who has long ago outlived their productive years choose to remain in office? Simple. The seductive poison of near unlimited power.

I stood on the viewing area of the second floor of the Capitol that looks out over Washington and directly views the Washington monument. My thoughts returned to September 12, 2009 and the million man tea party march. I thought about the estimated 1.7 million American patriots who traveled at their own expense to stand at the pinnacle of American governmental power to clearly say we have had enough. No, there was no destruction, fires or looting that we are witnessing from the Occupy movement. Just hard-working, patriotic producers whose values, morals and ethics have made America great declaring their love of country and belief in the Constitution. When I returned inside after reflecting on the march a few minutes, I immediately thought of Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Sheila Jackson Lee and the hundreds of corruptocrats who infect our government and country. I don’t know how we will end up. I don’t know what will happen or if America will survive the legislative malfeasance done to our Constitution at the hands of these criminals. All I know is I felt a certain rage burning inside. One that said I am prepared to fight. Even if I lose my life, I choose to not live as a slave to socialist masters.

The winds of war are blowing in America…on the left and right. Who wins will determine the future of America. Will we continue to slide down the slippery slope of totalitarianism or will we fight to restore liberty and self-determination? Our adversaries are determined and will not go gentle into the good night of productive responsibility. They have fed at the trough of welfare and social programs for 50+ years. The question remains whether the good people of America will rise up and cast off the chains of tyranny that have gradually been placed upon us? Will we repudiate statist lies and propaganda and raise our voices and our arms in defense of freedom? My words in response to that question echo the sacred words of Henry: Give me liberty or give me death!

I cannot help but think of another quote from Samuel Adams, from whose tavern the Sons of Liberty raided the British ships in Boston harbor in protest of the tyranny of taxation without representation. This is one of my favorite quotes from the Founding Fathers:

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Time to choose.

The nation that was passed on to my generation by the proceeding one certainly had its problems, but they passed along a free nation on the edge of an industrial boom and a technological explosion that would make America the envy of the world.

The new generation rolled up its sleeves and got on with the business at hand, dealing with segregation, building the interstate system, space exploration and the cure for a myriad of heretofore in curable diseases.

We maintained a strong military and many of the old family dynasties that had for generations held a strangle hold on whole communities were broken up as the wealth was passed to siblings who had no interest in maintaining the status quo.

The work ethic that had sustained America for a century and a half and the sense of self-responsibility were alive and well and a man who fathered a child and abandoned them or refused to support their families were pariahs and welfare was doled out only to people in dire need.

My generation made a lot of mistakes, Lyndon Johnson's Great Society, Richard Nixon taking the nation off the gold standard and a myriad of miscalculations and downright power grabs, seeds that have germinated and caused a lot of damage to the nation.

But having said that, I believe that the years under my generation's watch at least maintained the American dream and passed it on to the present generation.

I can't help but wonder what this present generation is leaving for the next one or if there will indeed even be a recognizable America to pass on.

The status quo is totally unsustainable as the ratio of workers to entitlement recipients
shrinks every day.

The massive national debt that could well be unpayable is not even being dealt with and grows by catastrophic proportions hourly and the only answer Obama can come up with is to borrow more money to throw down the black hole Washington has created.

The government stupidly continues to place restrictive regulations on free enterprise driving manufacturing to foreign shores while the American corporate tax base continues to dissolve.

What kind of tax burden will the next generation have to bear, what will be their quality of life and what will a post Obama American look like.

What toll will Obamacare take on America, a bill of goods that has been sold as a great humanitarian gesture when it is nothing more than a giant step toward socialism and totalitarian government, passed by the traitors in Congress who won't even have to live under it.

No matter what happens, when the Fed has printed so much money that rampant inflation goes into high gear, when the government has borrowed all the money anyone will let them have, when the facade falls and all the smoke and mirrors disintegrate and the fiscal house of cards comes tumbling down, the entitlement community is going to have their benefits drastically reduced or eliminated.

What will happen, will they take to the streets to whip the dead horse of our economy, will they demand that the haves immediately share what they have with the have-nots, will they rampage through the cities creating chaos only to find out that their efforts have been in vain, that the goose is really dead this time, the cupboard is bare, that party is finally over, that the big socialistic balloon has burst and it's raining all over the world.

America is stumbling; I pray to God that she doesn't fall.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops, and for our country.

God Bless America

Obama adviser urges 'militancy' in nationwide Occupy protests

NEW YORK – Three days before an Occupy Oakland protest turned violent, United Steelworkers international president Leo Gerard, an adviser to President Obama, called for "more militancy" in Occupy movements across the U.S.

Gerard serves on the board of a number of groups funded by billionaire George Soros, including organizations that reportedly helped to craft Obama's "stimulus" and health-care laws.

In an interview with progressive radio host Ed Schultz on Monday, Gerard stated, "I think what we need is, we need more militancy."

"Red Army: The Radical Network that must be defeated to save America" exposes the extremists behind Occupy Wall Street along with the radical socialist network that seized political power in Washington over decades, shaped Obama's presidential agenda and threatens the very future of the U.S.

"I think we've got to start a resistance movement. If Wall Street occupation doesn't get the message, I think we've got to start blocking bridges and doing that kind of stuff," stated Gerard, according to a transcript provided by Newsbusters.org.

As WND was first to report, the tactic of blocking bridges, already used by Occupy Wall Street to hold up the Brooklyn Bridge last month, was institutionalized by Stephen Lerner, a controversial anti-capitalist SEIU organizer.

Lerner has visited the White House four times, while his former boss, Andy Stern, SEIU's recently retired president, was the most frequent White House visitor in 2009, according to presidential visitors logs. Obama himself once trained SEIU in the 1990s.

VERBATIM POST

Former Gov. Jesse Ventura held a news conference today to criticize the dismissal of his lawsuit against the Transportation Security Administration for the agency's pat downs and full body scanners at the airport. Ventura said he was outraged that the court dismissed his case. He called the judge who dismissed the case and the federal courts in general as "cowards."

"They said they don't have jurisdiction," Ventura told reporters outside of the federal courthouse in St. Paul. "Well my question is if the federal courts don't have jurisdiction over a constitutional question then who the hell does?"

Ventura said he hasn't talked with his attorney about whether he would appeal his lawsuit but he suggested it wasn't worth it.

"Why would I appeal it, I want a trial by jury," Ventura said. "If I appeal it, they'll get federally paid judges to squash it."

Ventura, who was flanked by the TV crew that shoots his conspiracy TV show, also said he's lost his patriotism. He said he'll never fly commercially again.

"I will not be treated like a criminal," Ventura said. "In our airports today, we citizens are treated like criminals. We're guilty until we're proven innocent."

Ventura also said he's going to apply for dual citizenship of Mexico, where he owns a home.

"They know that if I go to court and I'm given a jury I will win," Ventura said.

He also said he lost his patriotism and would then refer to the U.S. as the "Fascist States of America." .

"I will never stand for a national anthem again," Ventura said. "I will turn my back and raise a fist the same way Tommy Smith and John Carlos did in the '68 Olympics, Jesse Ventura will do that today."

Ventura then again teased that he could make another run for office.

"The only way that I could change it I guess would be to run for president and win it," Ventura said. "Is that what it will take?" When asked if he's running for the White House, Ventura said "I'm thinking about it. That's all though."

Ventura said he would never set foot in the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport again.

Ventura also didn't forget about his past battles with the Minnesota media. He singled out WCCO's Pat Kessler and told him he'll never forgive him for the way he treated him and his family. Kessler did a story during Ventura's time as governor that his son, Tyrell, threw weekend parties at the governor's residence that caused damage to furniture and fixtures.

Just the facts on Fast and Furious

Via Sipsey Street Irregulars

In a recent column in The Hill, Lanny Davis (“Let’s Get The Facts Straight On Holder,” October 12, 2011) claimed that Republicans politicized the inquiry into Operation Fast and Furious. Ironically, however, it is charges of partisanship like his that inject party politics where it doesn't belong. He questioned the motives of the Members of Congress involved while at the same time criticizing those members for allegedly questioning the motives of others.

Mr. Davis claimed that there are four “facts” that Republicans making “personal attacks” on Attorney General Holder should know: (1) gunwalking at ATF began “under the George W. Bush administration,” (2) the Attorney General meant only to deny knowing about the “faulty tactics,” (3) the Attorney General can’t be expected to read all of his memos, and (4) law enforcement needs bi-partisan support rather than “political cheap shots.”

Perhaps his search for a distraction is understandable. The facts are so clear that there isn’t much the Department and its defenders can say, other than to lash out and blame the messengers. The fact is that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) encouraged gun dealers to sell assault rifles to known straw purchasers illegally buying on behalf of others.

The fact is that the Justice Department oversaw the operation as ATF literally watched bad guys collect hundreds of guns—week after week—for nearly a year.

For those who still try to draw parallels between the Tea Party and the Occupy movement, allow me to explain:

The Tea Party represents all the people working, producing, and PAYING for everything, while the Occupy movement represents all the people wanting to TAKE things from those who have earned them.

Major discrepancies: Feinstein's numbers on Gunwalker firearms

Via Sipsey Street Irregulars

As reported 48 hours ago, Senator Dianne Feinstein, D-California, may have inadvertently confirmed the ulterior motive for the Gunwalker scandal by launching into a diatribe against firearms while questioning former Assistant Attorney-General Lanny Breuer during a Senate hearing on Tuesday. But the numbers used by Feinstein to justify her anti-gun rhetoric contain some major discrepancies.

In that article it was reported that the figures used by Breuer and Feinstein concerning the number of guns recovered in Mexico that came from the United States were skewed. Neither Breuer nor Feinstein quoted correct figures.

ATF Deputy Assistant Director Bill McMahon had provided Congress the correct figures several months ago. Of the 100,000 firearms recovered, only 18,000 were traced to the United States. And only 7,900 were traced to licensed U.S. firearms dealers.

Lincoln’s Mercenaries

By mid-1862 General Halleck informed Lincoln that volunteers for the army had virtually dried up. Lincoln then emulated the British use of Hessian mercenaries with covert recruiting in Germany, plus Ireland and England; Lincoln’s emancipation proclamation simply duplicated the British proclamations in 1775 and 1814 to foment race war in the South and thus defeat the Americans fighting for independence.

Lincoln’s Mercenaries Actuated by Neither Patriotism or Honor

“On June 30, 1775, Gov. Josiah Martin, of North Carolina, writing to the Earl of Dartmouth, said: “A most infamous report had been propagated among the people, that I had formed a design of arming the negroes, and proclaiming freedom to all such as should resort to the King’s standard.”

In 1863 – 88 years afterwards – Abraham Lincoln began the work of “proclaiming freedom” to the slaves and arming them; and exhibited his feelings toward their owners by preferring negro troops to guard them in his prisons. Narrating events just before the battle of Trenton, Irving says of Washington:

“He calculated upon the eager support of his troops, who were burning to avenge the outrages on their homes and families, committed by these foreign mercenaries. They considered the Hessians mere hirelings; slaves to a petty despot, fighting for sordid pay, and actuated by no sentiment of patriotism or honor.”

In 1862 – 86 years afterwards – Abraham Lincoln began to invite “foreign mercenaries,” “actuated by no sentiment of patriotism or honor,” to come over an assist him in the work of devastating the States of the Confederacy; and altogether he succeeded in hiring nearly 500,000 of them.

While in the ranks of the armies of the Confederacy there were college professors, physicians, merchants, lawyers, farmers, and business men of every calling, there seems to have been a general desire on the part of such persons in the North to avoid service in “preserving the life of the nation.” Refusing to volunteer at any one of Mr. Lincoln’s ten calls, and having the privilege when drafted to be excused on the payment of $300, commutation money, 86,724 of these gentlemen purchased the privilege of staying home; while other thousands, not reported, hired substitutes, as the campaign song of Mr. [James G.] Blaine did “ven he hear dem rebels shoot.”

In addition too, to this vast army of exempts, other thousands secured the privilege of avoiding service by inducing their State legislatures or their city councils or their township officials to offer bounties to foreigners, to Confederate starving prisoners, to Southern renegades and to Southern Negroes; and to hire agents as recruiting officers.”

As Populist Socialism Rises A Class War Bloodbath Looms

“The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If ‘Thou shalt not covet’ and ‘Thou shalt not steal’ were not commandments of Heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society before it can be civilized or made free.”

–John Adams, 1787

I remember my Brother-In-Law’s father telling us the tale of what it was like to grow up during the waning days of the Weimar Republic, and the onset of Hitler coming to power.

One of the things he noted, was that among the majority thinking of Germans during the early 1930′s, was that Hitler and his Nazis were a fringe minority of malcontents that they needed not worry about. They had faith their fellow German citizens would see through his insanity and relegate him and his National Socialist Workers Party to the ash heap of relevance.

He called them brigands, rioters, trouble-makers and accusers. He said they were people from largely wealthy station or middle class means that sought a perverted revenge for the economic woes they suffered as the global depression deepened, and they chose Hitler’s vision for a return to ‘fairness’ in Germany rather than the subtle efforts of the Communists.

As our Founders noted, revolutions happen when a tireless minority continue to set brushfires in people’s minds. And while a majority of Germans rejected Hitler, the tireless minority set fires both figural, and literal.

It can be a good thing when those brushfires are rooted in a biblical and civil morality that puts the Law of God and natural law on a pinnacle to be obtained, but horrifying when those brushfires are rooted in jealousy, greed, vengeance and the desire to rule. The tireless minority setting such brushfires can easily overthrow a civil society, and in fact that was the case in Russia, China and yes – in 1930′s Germany.

Hitler was written off by the majority as relevant when he lost 2 bids for the German Presidency in 1932 to Paul Von Hindenburg. An overwhelming majority of Germans, near 70% – rejected Hitler and his Nazi ideology in the first election. Sadly, Hindenburg did not receive a majority percentage so a runoff between the top 3 was held a month later – and Hitler lost almost as badly in the run-off election.

Hitler seemed finished politically. But the German people underestimated what Hitler’s intentions for the German Republic actually were. Hindenburg’s appointed Chancellor Franz Von Pappen was, if anything – a stooge for the Nazi’s. He dissolved the Reichstag and called for new congressional elections. It was during those legislative elections that Hitler’s plan to take over Germany under totalitarian rule were put into full motion.

The Nazis went to work organizing protests and rallies in the streets. Chaos was stoked and violence spread from one city to the next, until martial law had to be declared in Berlin itself. The chaos and violence had it’s desired effect: The Nazi party won 230 seats in the Reichstag, and while they never gained a majority – the chaos that ensued in the Reichstag ensured that Hindenburg could not get a majority coalition to pass any legislation. With the Nazis holding positions in the cabinet, consolidating power by using the threat of violence was an easy task. Hindenburg caved to the minority Nazi populists – and appointed Hitler as Chancellor in order to appease the growing riots in the streets.

Why the history lesson?

Because while Conservatives and most Americans today disregard the hippie OWS crowds and think Obama is finished politically with his low poll numbers, history shows that similar demagogues with a desire to ‘fundamentally transform’ a society, often can and do succeed in overthrowing the civil society and establish a horrifying tyranny.

Socialists who are in a clear minority of a society, achieve their ends by always using street chaos and protests to invite and incite violence. That is what the Occupy Wall Street movement is all about, and history screams a clear warning when such crowds and protests are stoked by their handlers for the purpose of achieving a political transformation. We ignore these facts at our own individual peril.

Jury: Cops didn't jump the gun in car search

Of course not, they never do.......::)
========

WILLIAM LAWLER is convinced that his civil rights were violated during a car stop in which police confiscated his legally owned gun and his permit to carry a concealed weapon.

On Friday, a federal jury was convinced otherwise.

It was a quick midday run to the post office in April 2008 that landed Lawler, an 11-year Army veteran and social-studies teacher, in the back of a police cruiser in handcuffs.

The traffic violation for which he was stopped in Northeast Philadelphia was later dismissed. But cops said that the politically charged bumper stickers on the back of his station wagon, including "Fear the government that fears your gun," led them to ask if he had a gun - which he did - and if he had a permit to carry it - which he did.

"The back of my car is pretty much a billboard for who I am. I'm a political animal," Lawler said in court last week. "This is a legal, peaceful way for me to express my views."

But Lawler was ordered out of his car. Cops searched him and the vehicle, and took his legally owned permit and his 9mm Glock-17. They drove him to the 8th Police District, but never arrested him or charged him with a crime.

One police officer testified last week that Lawler's "agitated and upset" demeanor led cops to handcuff him. Still, cops said that Lawler never threatened them and followed all instructions. The only statements one officer even remembered Lawler saying had to do with his constitutional rights. Police said that they took his gun and permit because he had not voluntarily informed them that he was carrying a gun.

"I stood up for myself, yes," Lawler testified. "Was I a raving madman? Not by any long shot."

Still, it took Lawler 689 days, $2,000 in lawyer's fees and a judge's order just to get his permit and his $800 gun back.

Then he took his complaints to federal court, suing the city and the four police officers he claims were involved in the stop, for violating his First and Fourth amendment rights.

He stuck to his guns, turning down a $25,000 offer from the city to settle his claims. He said that he wanted to challenge what he believes is the practice of the Police Department to harass legal gun owners.

"I don't want it to happen to me again, or anyone else," Lawler said.

But after a three-day trial last week, which included testimony from Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey, a jury deliberated less than two hours Friday before shooting down Lawler's claims.

Feinstein Uses 'Fast and Furious' (Gunwalker) to Make Case for National Gun Registration!

Via Survival

I usually file public statements by Dianne Feinstein under Vapid Transit, but this one must go under Hegelian Dialectic: Feinstein Uses 'Fast and Furious' to Make Case for National Gun Registration. (First, the Federal government creates a problem, then they re-assign blame, for their ultimate goal--bigger government.) And BTW, the "94,000 guns" figure is both specious and laughable. They ran traces only on the guns that they thought might have come from the U.S. There were hardly any traces requested of the US BATFE on the thousands of full auto (select-fire) guns such as M4s and military production AK-47s that have been seized in Mexico.

To answer one of Feinstein's suggestions: "'We have to do something to prevent criminals [in Mexico] from getting those guns,' Feinstein said." Okay , here is your answer, Dianne: Disband the Federal government's gun-running agency, the BATFE, post haste!
