Welcome to Economics for Non-Traditional High School Students!

I am a State certified (Texas and Illinois) high school economics teacher with 10 years experience teaching Advanced Placement Macroeconomics and Microeconomics. I have 100+ hours of College Board training in Economics. I am a veteran of the USMC and a small business owner for many years. I have a degree in Political Science with a minor in Economics.

I am offering this class on a "Pay What You Want Basis". Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) told a a crowd gathered to hear him speak to them inside a restaurant that he was offended at the remarks last week of Democrat National Convention prime time speaker Sandra Fluke. upon her demand that America pay for her contraception, Walsh responded with “Get a job!”

Fluke, earlier this year testified in Congress regarding women and contraception for which she rightly received a national conservative lashing. This is a thirty-two year old woman that ha been nothing more than a full time student all of her life.

You've just been kicked in the teeth, and this is to convey sympathy and comfort, as well as sincere congratulations for what you've done – along with suggestions about what you might best do next.

The way you have been treated by your own Party is a scandal that will long reverberate – and was so stupid even from the Party's perspective as to leave its former chairman lost for words. You had bust guts to nominate a fine candidate who alone has a chance to beat Obama, yet you were systematically prevented, even by retroactive changes to rules, even from placing his name in nomination. That Party is just not worthy of people like you.

Your dedication to the job of getting Ron Paul nominated has been remarkable. For over 30 years I've been active in, or an observer of, American politics and have never seen the like of it. I live in New Hampshire, and at the time of its primary happened to drive along the I-89. On each of several overpasses there appeared giant signs, saying simply, starkly: RON PAUL / PEACE, RON PAUL / JUSTICE and RON PAUL / FREEDOM. There were bumper stickers for him too but the most surprising thing on that drive was that I did not see a single political sign for any other candidate! This was one example of your work, and all over the country you came from behind to support your champion and you did a first rate job – opposed every step of the way by those you were trying to help.

Ron Paul is personally remarkable too. In Congress since 1820 (according to comedian Jon Stewart), he has consistently refused ever to vote for an increase in tax or government power, and has held to his principles regardless of the advice of friends and foes alike; in so doing he has impressed many on the Left, as well as on the Right. Such disdain for compromise is unknown in Washington. It's a real shame and must greatly disappoint him that his son Rand has, in his short political career, already failed to follow his fine example. Ron may not always be right (in some respects I think he's wrong, see below) but he is always honest. In the cesspool of politics, that makes him an unique historical figure. Fifty years from now, your grandchildren will “wow” their friends by boasting: My Grandma worked for Ron Paul!

So what's next; what will you do now? Your first decision may be about what to do in November, now that there's nobody on the ballot worth voting for. You know the choices: (1) Stay home, don't vote (2) Vote for the next best, Libertarian Gary Johnson, or (3) Write in Ron Paul. I'll pick #1, but will not be surprised if you favor #3. It would be a fine thing if, when Mitt Romney has lost to Obama, the media reported that a substantial write-in vote for Ron was the main reason. The Republicans will then know why they failed, and there will be a measure of poetry in the justice.

After that, though, comes what matters most; and I offer two key recommendations.

Leaked iPhone IDs 'not FBI's fault'

AN IPHONE app publisher says it may be responsible for leaking information from 12 million iPhones and iPads.

Hackers initially claimed the data containing Apple identification codes known as UDIDs was stolen from the laptop of an FBI agent in New York.

But the US law enforcement agency claimed this was incorrect.

BlueToad, a Florida-based firm which creates digital and mobile editions of publications, said that it was "the victim of a criminal cyber attack, which resulted in the theft of Apple UDIDs from our systems."

Paul DeHart, the company's chief executive and president, said in a blog posting that the firm immediately contacted law enforcement after learning of the attack.

"Although we successfully defend against thousands of cyber attacks each day, this determined criminal attack ultimately resulted in a breach to a portion of our systems," he said.

Catherine Bernard isn’t your typical delegate to the Republican National Convention. The Dublin public defender is relatively young, but the convention hall is peppered with youthful faces. She was one of Georgia’s 4 delegates who did not cast their vote for nominee Mitt Romney, opting instead for Ron Paul. And in 2008, she voted for President Barack Obama.

Bernard recalls how she was once a member of the Democratic Party, before switching parties when she began her law career.

“I had always had a negative impression of the Republicans,” she said, “and then I became a public defender and I just saw that government was not operating as a positive influence on the lives of these poor people.”

Europeans watching the 1861-65 conflict in America recalled that Lincoln was doing exactly what British Lord Dunmore, Royal Governor of Virginia, was doing eighty-six years earlier against Americans seeking political independence. Lincoln would also demand loyalty oaths, and issue an emancipation proclamation as did Dunmore in an effort to provoke race war and weaken the so-called rebellion.

Lincoln Imitates Lord Dunmore:

“When the British governor became a self-made fugitive from Williamsburg during the summer of 1775, he seemed driven chiefly be a vengeful spirit toward the citizens who had caused him his indignity.

Based on warships in the great watery area of Chesapeake Bay, he directed landing parties composed of sailors and regulars, armed slaves and renegades, in destructive raids on plantations and outlying communities, stealing slaves and provisions. In the early fall, emboldened by success and grown aware of the strong loyalist sentiment in the Norfolk region, Dunmore conceived the strategic stroke of seizing the port city.

Like Philadelphia and New York….Norfolk’s native-born shipping and mercantile class were more closely linked by all bonds to England than to local revolutionaries. When Dunmore came, the poor and the ignorant, caught under the joint rule of their economic betters and British force, signed loyalty oaths of allegiance and the city was British.

[Dunmore] proclaimed the slaves free and tried to incite them to insurrection. Taking this from threat to actuality, he armed the several hundred runaways [slaves] who reached his lines and, with loyalists and regulars, pillaged the countryside.

[Later defeated and forced to return to] his ships in the harbor, on New Years’ Day (1776), he bombarded the city where the loyalists had given him refuge and, under cover of the heavy guns, sent in landing parties to set houses afire. Dunmore lurked around the waters until July, ravaging the shore lines of Virginia and Maryland, before he sailed away to his native Scotland with his vengeance still unsated.”

If you store metal guns in dry soil alone they are highly visible.

If you find the steel pipe from the water company and give it a friend 2 feet underneath, it will not show the friend.

If a disassembled rifle is placed nose down besides chain link fence posts, it will probably be left alone.

If you go under the house and dig down next to the support pilings and bury nose first, they will not be able to see anything that will entice them to dig beyond the 14" foundation depth.

If you place a rifle in a 4" soil vent pipe that exits the roof, they will probably not find it even with a metal detector.

If rounds are placed in a PVC pipe and attached like a water pipe to the ceilings or walls, they will probably not be found.

If you strip out the copper wire from flex cable and fill it with rounds and staple it up running from the Power box to the ceiling in the garage, it most likely won't be looked too hard at.

The Ghost Dance is a ceremony to call upon the spirits of those who have passed beyond this world to assist in returning this land to the ways of before the coming of the Europeans. It spread across the nations of the native peoples of the Great Plains. It originated among the Paiute, and was enthusiastically supported by the Sioux.

The US Government viewed this simple activity as such a threat that they sent the 7th Cavalry, along with General Sherman, to Wounded Knee Creek. There an estimated 300 men, women, and children died. Mowed down by indiscriminate fire from cavalry and cannon.

The native peoples of the New World, for the most part, welcomed the European refugees who first landed upon the shores of a very foreign land. The immigrants were taught many skills by their new friends that allowed them to survive in a very different environment than they were used to.

Trade grew. Friendships formed. Marriages happened. Children were born.

And then something terrible happened.

The former Masters of the refugees followed them to the New World.

The Royal Houses of Europe, and their monied interests, saw much more here in this new land than just natural resources to be exploited. They saw freedom and the fruits of that freedom. They saw egalitarianism in its truest form. Liberty in its unadulterated state. And fraternity, the much sought after Brotherhood Of Man, coming to be.

It had to be stopped. If it wasn't, it would spread. A healing of Man's physical and spiritual natures would threaten their control. Their positions of power. The very nature of a reality they viewed as their due.

Using the ages old techniques of infiltration, vilification, and discrimination, they set up to divide and conquer. Calling upon the most base natures of predators, both physical and economic, that had been introduced into the New World, they set friend against friend. Neighbor against neighbor. Culture against culture. People against people. Imposing their systems upon a society, dram by dram, to fight against an ever changing enemy of the State.

First, it was Royal House against Royal House. Britain against France. France against Britain. Everyone against Spain. The Netherlands and Sweden losing out early on followed by Russia heading for the exit. The natives losing on all fronts, being promised everything by their questionable benefactors, but having very little delivered by their traitorous allies.

Then it was those who opposed unjust taxation.

Then it was anti-royalist colonists.

Then it was the "savages" who impeded westward expansion.

Chinese.

Irish.

Spanish.

Germans.

Polish.

Italians.

Japanese.

Soviets.

Vietnamese.

Patriots.

Scientists are growing ears, bone and skin in the lab, and doctors are planning more face transplants and other extreme plastic surgeries. Around the country, the most advanced medical tools that exist are now being deployed to help America's newest veterans and wounded troops.

—In Los Angeles, surgeons used part of Michael Mills' forehead to rebuild his nose after a bomb disfigured him in Iraq.

—In Pittsburgh, doctors used an experimental therapy from pig tissue to help regrow part of a thigh muscle that Ron Strang lost in a blast in Afghanistan.

—In Boston, scientists are making plans for the first implants of lab-grown ears for wounded troops after successful experiments in sheep and rats.

—In San Antonio and other cities, doctors are testing sprayed-on skin cells and lab-made sheets of skin to heal burns and other wounds. The ingenuity is impressive: One product was developed from foreskin left over from circumcisions.

Much of this comes from taxpayer-funded research. Four years ago, the federal government created AFIRM, the Armed Forces Institute of Regenerative Medicine, a network of top hospitals and universities, and gave $300 million in grants to spur new treatments using cell science and advanced plastic surgery.

Experimental German Rifle made ​​in 1944 , the first of the roller-lock delayed blowback designes that eventually became CETME and HK .308 s. This one is in 7.92 × 33. It's crude, simple and works well. Recoil is minimal, with two distinct stages. Sights are simple and I found them hard to see on dark backgrounds.

I shot a couple of rounds sitting at 25 yards to check zero. Zero checked out. Ammo: 123gr FNM.

Vice President Joe Biden got caught in a stunning photo with a female biker sitting on his lap.

The Associated Press snapped the shot at Cruisers Diner in Seaman, Ohio on Sunday.

A White House pool report says the bikers may be part of a group called the "Shaddowmen." No details were available on their real names or what discussion led to the lap incident.

Some observers were quick to joke that Biden is starting to resemble the working-class parody Biden seen in The Onion.

Earlier in the diner visit, Biden made banter with biker Jeff Cook.

"Can I borrow one of your bikes? They don't let me ride anymore."

"Probably not," Cook said.

"Probably not," the Veep responded, according to the pool report.

SEAL Team Six Author Reveals More Details of bin Laden Raid in First Interview

The Navy SEAL who helped kill Osama bin Laden was tasked with photographing his body and told CBS News’ Scott Pelley that he washed blood from the dead al Qaeda leader's face to get the best photos he could.

The former SEAL Team 6 member, who uses the pseudonym Mark Owen but has been widely identified as Matt Bissonnette, was scheduled to appear in his first interview on CBS’ “60 Minutes” Sunday night. Excerpts were released earlier in the day Sunday.

CBS News said that they had employed a makeup artist to disguise Bissonnette’s appearance and sound manipulation was used to mask his real voice for his 60 Minutes interview. His book, "No Easy Day," went on sale this week.

“I figured these were the-- probably some of the most important photos I'd ever take in my life,” Bissonnette told Pelley. “So you know, make sure I do it right, get good angles, and all this other stuff. But, you know, you got to clean off the face, so...[its] identifiable as possible. So one of my buddies had a CamelBak with some water in it. Got some, you know-- spread some water on him, took a sheet off the bed, kind of wiped the blood off and then took photos.”

“Wiping the blood off of Osama bin Laden's face? And you shot pictures of his face in a profile. Can you describe what they look like,” Pelley asked, talking about photos that still have not been released to the public.

“They're pretty gruesome,” Bissonnette said.

Bissonette also told Pelley that a “wicked smart” woman was at the center of the plan to kill bin Laden. She had been tracking the terrorist leader for 5 years.

Only referred to as "Jen," she was convinced bin Laden was hiding at the compound in Abbotabad, Pakistan, where he was found.

She travelled with the SEALs to Afghanistan ahead of the raid and briefed them on what they were likely to find. "I can't give her enough credit. In my opinion she kind of teed up this whole thing," Bissonnette said.

Mexican authorities arrest suspected Hezbollah operatives

Three suspected Hezbollah operatives were arrested in Merida, Mexico, on Sunday.

One of the three, Rafik Mohammad al-Laboun, who is a US citizen, was extradited to the American authorities soon after his arrest by Mexican security forces, Reforma newspaper reported. Laboun was wanted by the US prior to his arrest.

The two other alleged Hezbollah members, Justin Yasser Safa from Belize, and George Abdalah Elders, remained in Mexican custody.

While Laboun was sent to a security facility in Houston, AFP reported the whereabouts of Elders and Safa are unknown.
