Chicago Police Chief: We’ll Shoot Licensed Civilians With Guns

Via Knuckledraggin' My Life Away

During an interview on radio station WVON 1690 am this week Chicago’s Police Chief Gary McCarthy surprised listeners when he commented on the upcoming concealed carry law that must be passed in Illinois within the next six months. McCarthy made a scary prediction that citizens carrying legally could be shot by Chicago police.

“You put more guns on the street expect more shootings,” McCarthy said. “I don’t care if they’re licensed legal firearms, people who are not highly trained… putting guns in their hands is a recipe for disaster. So I’ll train our officers that there is a concealed carry law, but when somebody turns with a firearm in their hand the officer does not have an obligation to wait to get shot to return fire and we’re going to have tragedies as a result of that. I’m telling you right up front.”

NC: Deaf Man Stabbed Because Sign Language Mistaken To Be Gang Signs

VERBATIM

Burlington, North Carolina police are saying that 45-year-old Terrance Ervin Daniels was stabbed several times after another man mistook his sign language to another deaf man for gang signs.

According to Sgt. Mark Yancey, Daniels was engaged in a “conversation” using sign language with another deaf man when a third man, 22-year-old Robert Jerell Neal, saw it and assumed the two men were flashing gang signs to each other. He then grabbed a kitchen knife and proceeded to stab Daniels, but not the other man.

A neighbor saw Daniels and called for an ambulance. Daniels was rushed to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill and was in stable condition after the crime on Wednesday.

Neal was arrested by police and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, and felony assault on a handicapped person.

He’s in the Alamance County jail on a $500,000 bond.

Chapel Hill is the home of liberals in North Carolina and so far, there have been no calls from the Left to ban knives.

A Lesson to be Learned on the Anniversary of Wounded Knee

Roundabout via Cousin Bill

December 29, 2012 marked the 122nd Anniversary of the murder of 297 Sioux Indians at Wounded Knee Creek on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. These 297 people, in their winter camp, were murdered by federal agents and members of the 7th Cavalry who had come to confiscate their firearms "for their own safety and protection". The slaughter began AFTER the majority of the Sioux had peacefully turned in their firearms. When the final round had flown, of the 297 dead or dying, two thirds (200) were women and children.

Around 40 members of the 7th Cavalry were killed, over half cut down by friendly fire from the Hotchkiss guns of their overzealous comrades-in-arms. Twenty members of the 7th Cavalry were deemed "National Heros" and awarded the Medal of Honor for their acts of cowardice.

We do not hear of Wounded Knee today. It is not mentioned in our history classes or books. What little does exist about Wounded Knee is normally the sanitized "Official Government Explanation" or the historically and factually inaccurate depictions of the events leading up to the massacre on the movie screen.

Wounded Knee was among the first federally backed gun confiscation attempts in United States history. It ended in the senseless murder of 297 people.

Before you jump on the emotionally charged bandwagon for gun-control, take a moment to reflect on the real purpose of the Second Amendment- The right of the people to take up arms in defense of themselves, their families, and property in the face of invading armies or an oppressive government. The argument that the Second Amendment only applies to hunting and target shooting is asinine. When the United States Constitution was drafted "hunting" was an everyday chore carried out by men and women to put meat on the table each night, and "target shooting" was an unheard of concept, musket balls were a precious commodity in the wilds of early America, and were certainly not wasted "target shooting". The Second Amendment was written by people who fled oppressive and tyrannical regimes in Europe, and refers to the right of American citizens to be armed for defense purposes should such tyranny rise in the United States.

As time goes on the average citizen in the United States continues to lose personal freedom or "liberty". Far too many times unjust bills are passed and signed into law under the guise of "for your safety" or "for protection" . The Patriot Act signed into law by G.W. Bush, then expanded and continued by Barack Obama is just one of many examples of American citizens being stripped of their rights and privacy for "safety". Now, the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is on the table, and will, most likely be taken away for "our safety".

Before any American citizen blindly accepts whatever new firearms legislation that is about to be doled out, they should stop and think about something for just one minute- Evil does exist in our world. It always has and always will. Throughout history evil people have committed evil acts. In the Bible one of the first stories is that of Cain killing Abel. We can not legislate "evil" into extinction. Good people will abide by the law, defective people will always find a way around it.

And another thought Evil exists all around us, but looking back at the historical record of the past 200 years across the globe, where is "evil" and "malevolence" most often found? In the hands of those with the power- governments. That greatest human tragedies on record and the largest loss of
innocent human life can be attributed to governments. Who do governments target? "Scapegoats" and "enemies" within their own borders … but only after they have been disarmed to the point where they are no longer a threat. Ask any Native American, and they will tell you it was inferior technology and lack of arms that contributed to their demise. Ask any Armenian why it was so easy for the Turks to exterminate millions of them, and they will answer "We were disarmed before it happened". Ask any Jew what Hitler's first step prior to the mass murders of the Holocaust was- confiscation of firearms from the people.

Wounded Knee is the prime example of why the Second Amendment exists, and why we shouldn't be in such a hurry to surrender our Right to Bear Arms. Without the Second Amendment we have no right to defend ourselves and our families.

Eliminate armed guards for the President, Vice-President, and their families, and establish Gun Free Zones around them

 Via Jerry

Priceless!

Gun Free Zones are supposed to protect our children, and some politicians wish to strip us of our right to keep and bear arms. Those same politicians and their families are currently under the protection of armed Secret Service agents. If Gun Free Zones are sufficient protection for our children, then Gun Free Zones should be good enough for politicians.

NRA President Schools Candy Crowley: Obama and Feinstein Are Driving Gun Sales Not Us!

CNN's Candy Crowley on Sunday floated the typical media nonsense about how the National Rifle Association is ginning up fear to sell more guns in the wake of the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut.

Fortunately for State of the Union viewers, NRA President David Keene was on the set to correctly point out, "The two people who are selling so-called assault rifles are Senator Feinstein and President Obama not us" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Catholic League's Bill Donohue Suggests Obama Should Swear In On Marx's 'Das Kapital'

images

Catholic League president Bill Donohue on Friday published a news release, in which he suggested that President Barack Obama should swear in on "Das Kapital" -- Karl Marx's famous analysis of political economy -- rather than the Bible.

As the New Civil Rights Movement notes, Donohue's comments had been published as a response to recent remarks made by MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell about the controversy surrounding Pastor Louie Giglio.

Giglio had been selected to deliver the benediction at the president's inauguration but had bowed out of the responsibility after coming under fire for an anti-gay sermon he delivered in the mid-1990s.
During his MSNBC show on Thursday, O'Donnell discussed the Giglio controversy, saying that the Georgia pastor -- in his anti-gay comments -- had been "quoting the Bible" and that "homosexuality is a sin in the Bible." O'Donnell went on to say that the swearing in of presidents on the Christian holy book is "one of our more absurdist traditions" and suggested that Obama should perhaps swear in "on the shoulder of one of his daughters" instead.

In his comments on Friday, Donohue, known for his anti-gay position, defended Giglio, saying that the pastor's "only crime" was being a Christian.

"Practicing Christians, along with observant Jews, Mormon, Muslims and millions of others, accept the biblical teachings on the sinfulness of homosexuality," he said, adding:

The problem for O’Donnell is not Giglio, it’s the Bible. He says the practice of presidents putting their hand on the Bible is “one of our most absurdist [sic] traditions.” Furthermore, he says that because Obama embraces the gay agenda, he should not swear on the Bible. The point is not without merit. Given Obama’s

Jefferson Davis Highway marker nominated for historic status

Via Carl

When you drive along Jefferson Davis Highway south of Richmond, Virginia, you may pass a historic marker along the way. The marker along US Route 1 doesn't explain that you're passing a historic site; it may be considered a historic landmark itself. The National Park Service (NPS) is officially announcing on Monday, Jan. 14 that it is considering adding the marker to the National Register of Historic Places.

So maybe next time you're driving by, you might want to stop and take a look. NPS received the nomination last fall for the commemorative marker, which was placed along the highway (US 1) in Chesterfield County by the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) as a reaction to the naming of the Lincoln Highway.

The marker stands at Falling Creek at Falling Center, Wayside.

George Townley Fullam

VERBATIM

GEORGE TOWNLEY FULLAM
(1841-1879)
Masters Mate, CSS Alabama
This is the first of three small pieces I am contributing to the 290 Foundation web site. Each will be about CSS Alabama personnel, but with a difference in that they shall have a human interest about them; and hopefully contain information not readily available elsewhere.

George Townley Fullam was born in Hull, East Yorkshire in 1841 and attended the Charterhouse School in that city. I too was born in Hull and our paths join, albeit tentatively.

My mother Margaret Collier (1931-2013) worked at Booth’s printers in Hull in the 1940’s. A fellow worker was Brian Fullam, the grandson of George Townley Fullam. Also working there was my aunt Rhodda Jackson.

About ten years ago my aunt , now living in Orange County, California, told me of how she knew Brian Fullam and how she knew of his connection with the War of ‘61. Knowing of my interest she gave me his contact details. I contacted him and he called around to see me and let me borrow the book his grandfather wrote ‘The Journal of George Townley Fullam’ edited by Charles Summersall. We met on several occasionsafter that and we had some interesting conversations. I quickly realised there must be a lot of interest in George as he had a virtual waiting list for people to read the journal.

In the belief George must be mentioned on a headstone or memorial somewhere in Hull, I set off on one of my many quests to find what I could. There was a possibility of a family monument in the city; but a search of recorded monumental inscriptions revealed nothing. So what did I find ? There is a plaque in his old school, now being used as a museum/listed public building. The plaque however states he was an old boy and also mentions his loss at sea and other members of his family. I was subsequently informed the family had a monument in a small ( very small) cemetery in the old town.

There was an old cemetery in Hull, a very small one and only about ten yards from the Registry Office. It still survived in 1971 as I remember going in there at that time when I worked close by; but by 1982 it had all been grassed over and turned into small public garden. In fact I had my wedding photographs taken there. It was here that the Fullam family had a memorial stone with George’s name on it. Sometime between 1971 and 1982 during redevelopment the stone was probably used as part of the pathway in the new creation. Either that or it was simply disposed of, probably unceremoniously.

George’s time on the CSS Alabama is covered comprehensively in his journal; but some years ago, a lady from Kentucky told me I should not regard him as a hero as he had been involved in a controversial incident when the ship sank. Apparently, rescued by the Federals, he was given a boat to go and rescue other shipmates but instead rowed to the safety of the Deerhound. I knew nothing of this incident but know that fear and circumstances can lead to unexpected decisions and behaviour. I have not heard of this incident since; but the information did come from a source that has always been very accurate!

Being a merchant seaman from Hull has always been one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet, with a terrifying ten-percent in fatality rate. Sadly in December 1879 George Townley Fullam became one of those statistics, losing his life with the entire crew of the Marlborough, which sank in the Bay of Biscay.

Thieving Through Georgia

Gen. Samuel G. French was New Jersey-born and living in Mississippi when the war commenced, he assumed command of the Cape Fear District in March, 1862 and “fortified the city” against attack from the sea. His adjutant from then through the end of the war was Captain Charles D. Myers, a native of New York City and successful prewar merchant in Wilmington. French held a very dim view of Sherman’s abilities as a military officer.

North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission

"The Official Website of the North Carolina WBTS Sesquicentennial"

Thieving Through Georgia:

“The much-vaunted “march to the sea” was a pleasure excursion, through a well-cultivated country….Sherman boastfully writes that he “destroyed two hundred sixty-five miles of railroad, carried off ten thousand mules, and countless slaves; that he did damage to the amount of $100,000,000. Of this, his army got $20,000,000, and the $80,000,000 was waste,” as they went “looting” through Georgia.

But not content with this, when “this cruel war was over,” he presented the delectable spectacle of “how we went thieving through Georgia” at the grand review of his army in Washington, by mounting his bummers on mules laden with chickens, ducks, geese, lambs, pigs and other farm productions, unblushingly displayed, to cover up the concealed money, jewelry and plate taken from the helpless women – to delight the President, to edify the loyal people, to gratify the hatred of the populace to the South, to popularize the thirst for plundering made by his troops, to be an object lesson to the present generation, to instill a broader view of moral right, to heighten modest sensibilities, to refine the delicate tastes of young ladies, to humiliate a conquered people; or wherefore was this unwise “Punch and Judy” show given?

During the revolutionary war, when the British fleet ascended the Potomac river, one ship sailed up to Mount Vernon – the residence of the arch rebel, Washington – and made a requisition for provisions which his agent filled. The English commander must have been a gentleman because he did not burn the dwelling, insult the family, nor commit robbery!!!

Gen. Bradley T. Johnston, in his life of General J.E. Johnston, quotes that, “Abubekr in the year 634 gave his chiefs of the army of Syria orders as follows: Remember that you are always in the presence of God, on the verge of death, and in the assurance of judgment and the hope of paradise. When you fight the battles of the Lord acquit yourselves like men, without turning your backs; but let not your victory be stained with the blood of women and children. Destroy no palm tree, nor burn any fields of corn….nor do any mischief to cattle, only such as you kill to eat…..”

It is not I who charge Sherman with destroying cornfields, cutting down fruit trees, or “driving off one cow and one pig;” he himself boasts as having done it. If he did take “one cow and one pig,” he kindly left the poor women their tears and their memory.”

At Ruger, our motto is "Arms Makers for Responsible Citizens." It is not just a slogan; it is genuine recognition that millions of law-abiding citizens use our firearms safely and responsibly every day. We are mechanics, doctors, teachers, police officers, firemen, nurses, factory workers, and every other occupation you can name. We are a vast and too-often silent majority ... and our rights are under attack.

Make your voice heard too!

Given the forces assembling against us, merely relying upon lobbying efforts is insufficient. Law-abiding firearms owners must stand up and be heard. This affects all of us, so we cannot stand idly by and rely upon others to fight on our behalf. Too much is at stake.

GRNC Alert 1-13-2013: Sen. Hagan needs an attitude adjustment on the 'Obama Gun Ban'

UNGRACEFULLY PROMISES NO ‘UNNECESSARY’ INFRINGEMENTS

Thousands of GRNC members have recently received a form letter from Sen. Kay Hagan (D-GRNC *) in response to concerns about the Obama/Biden/Feinstein anti-gun attack that is currently underway in Washington, DC.

In a painful attempt to appear supportive of our rights without actually supporting them, she has succeeded only in making it clear that her position needs significant correction. She writes,
it is important that we not unnecessarily infringe on the legitimate Second Amendment rights of responsible gun owners
The Senator apparently does not appreciate that government cannot infringe upon fundamental liberties whether it is deemed “necessary” or not. It is also troubling to note she believes there are “legitimate” Second Amendment rights, which of course implies that some “illegitimate” ones also exist. Which ones are these?

She completes a trifecta of Second Amendment misunderstanding by raising her family’s “long tradition of hunting”. Grandpa’s side-by-side shotgun isn’t of much use against tyranny, is it?

HAGAN CAN’T HIDE HER LUKEWARM TREATMENT OF GUN RIGHTS

Sen. Hagan’s prior votes have earned her a GRNC “one star” evaluation, consistent with voting with gun owners 62% of the time. This is not a person we can be confident about protecting our interests in the largest battle to maintain gun rights in a generation. Hagan needs an attitude adjustment, and needs it now!

Yet Another Scandal for Harry Reid?

reed

 Townhall

New questions are being asked about the ethics of Sen. Harry Reid; a Utah businessman is alleging that his state's attorney general demanded $600,000 as a bribe to Reid in exchange for dismissal of a federal investigation.
Certainly the allegations could be false, but it's worth noting this isn't the first time Reid's name has come up in connection with some pretty shady propositions.  Remember the lucrative, underpriced land deal?  Or the green energy conflict? There's so much there, pithily summed up by Investors Business Daily as follows:
. . .shadowy years he ran the Nevada Gaming Commission, through his public embarrassment over the Los Angeles Times investigation into his son and son-in-law's Washington lobbying activities, the ethics investigation into the free tickets Reid happily accepted to boxing matches and the successful land development deal that ended up netting Reid $1 million when he sold it, in an amazing coincidence, to a friend and it became a shopping center.

As a general matter, it's right to wait until serious allegations are actually substantiated before repeating them.  But in the case of Harry Reid, an exception is entirely warranted.

Robert E. Lee Birthday Observance

The annual Robert E. Lee Birthday Observance will be held at the Old State Capitol House Chambers, downtown Raleigh this coming Saturday, 19 January at 2PM.  The birthdate of Lee has been observed as a legal holiday in North Carolina since the early 1890s, and it is one of three days when the flag of the Confederate States of America flies over the Old State Capitol building.

This year’s keynote speaker is Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman of the North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission, and Director of the Cape Fear Historical Institute.

The Observance is sponsored by the North Carolina Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Military Order of the Stars and Bars. The Old State Capitol building, built in 1840, is located at 1 East Edenton Street, downtown Raleigh.

The Bushmaster Bull-Throwers

VERBATIM

As the federal assault on the Second Amendment continues the public is being treated to the usual dog and pony show by Joe Biden and his “committee.” We are still being told that the Bushmaster AR-15 rifle is the murder weapon in Newtown, Connecticut, but even that “fact” seems to be somewhat in doubt and the tales we have been getting from the “news” media run the gamut from frenzy to panic.

Members of six different pro-gun groups have met with Biden and/or his people. In an article on http://www.newsmax.com  it was stated: “The Friday session followed a tense Thursday afternoon meeting with six gun-rights groups including the NRA which denounced the meeting as a strategy meeting on how to thwart the Second Amendment. ‘We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment’ the gun group said in a statement…Chris Cox, the NRA’s chief lobbyist who attended the meeting on Friday described it to Fox News as a ‘dog and pony show.’ It became very clear very early that they weren’t looking to hear from gun owners, they were looking to blame gun owners.”

Well, finally someone that gets it!

Of course they are not looking for solutions to keep children safer. They are looking, in spite of what prevarications they spin for the public, for ways to confiscate our guns—if not right now then as soon as they can manufacture a way to pull it off. I would hope this would be obvious to most people, but then, maybe I hope for too much.

But it seems that not everyone in the NRA gets it. Joel McDurman, in an article on http://americanvisionnews.com  observed that “In May of 1999, NRA Executive VP Wayne LaPierre testified before Congress in favor of…a gun control law, stating, ‘We think its reasonable to support the Federal Gun-Free School Zones Act.” Mr. McDurman feels that the NRA doesn’t understand the Second Amendment. He says “Indeed, the NRA seems to have been riding the wave of sentiment that said ‘we need to allow arms in schools,’ but its solution is not concealed carry by random and freely-deciding qualified teachers or parents, but to allow only government guns in school.” Mr. McDurmon says of this solution :It is the exact opposite of the reason the Second Amendment exists to begin with. The Second Amendment was put in the Constitution so that citizens could protect themselves against a tyrannical government, not so the government could bear arms against us, or even on behalf of us. The moment the government declares where we can or cannot bear arms, and then installs government arms to enforce that decree, it is doing just the opposite of what the Second Amendment exists to ensure.”

In fact, even the term “assault rifle” is a misnomer. Tim Macy on http:gunowners.org  has stated, and I believe correctly, that “So-called ‘assault weapons’ are not designed to assault anyone—they are defense weapons for Americans to defend out families, our country and our Constitution. In colonial times, the ‘defense weapon’ of the day was a musket, and our forefathers used muskets and cannons to fight the British to secure our freedom. Today, the modern analog of the colonial musket is the AR-15 style rifles that have the ability to use standard-capacity magazines for self-defense. Why would Americans give up the right to have the best possible defense weapons we can have to protect our home, family, state and nation from criminals of ALL kinds?” Tim Macy is associated with the Gun Owners of America,  which is an organization I endorse.

The old saying that “an armed society is a polite society” is not really all that far off. It has been noted that when the state of Florida started letting its citizens carry concealed weapons, Florida’s firearms homicide rate dropped by around 37% Other states that have passed concealed carry laws have lower crime rates. By the same token, places that have enacted more gun control experience higher crime rates.

These political demagogues that shout at us that we need more gun control to reduce crime are, quite frankly, either naïve or they are liars. While some may be truly naïve, in which case they probably should not occupy the offices they have, I believe that most of them err on the side of intentional falsehood. They can’t exercise the power and control over us they would really like to as long as we have guns and so if they can find some way of separating us from our firearms, even with various false flag events, this will become their agenda.

In the final analysis, as I have said before, it’s not about child safety—it’s about power and control. For those who are interested the Gun Owners of America’s mailing address is 8001 Forbes Place, Suite 102, Springfield, Virginia 22151.

Birmingham accountant slaps city with federal lawsuit claiming pattern of racial discrimination toward whites

Via Billy

The Birmingham city accountant fired twice on allegations of racism and incompetence today slapped the city with a federal lawsuit saying it was Mayor William Bell's administration that was the true perpetrator of racial discrimination.

Virginia Spidle's federal lawsuit alleges that the city has a pattern of discrimination and retaliation against white employees.

Much of the 49-page lawsuit recounts the testimony heard in days of hearings at the Jefferson County Personnel Board, where Spidle was ultimately cleared of her initial firing charge.

"We are celebrating 50 years of progress in civil rights. In the year we are celebrating that, good people of Birmingham would not approve of mistreating a person because of their race,"  Spidle's lawyer, Gayle Gear told al.com/The Birmingham News in an interview. "The foot soldiers - those who have worked diligently on behalf of race relations for this city - what happened in 2010, 2011 and 2012 is not a step forward in race relations. It is a step backwards. And that is why the lawsuit had to be filed."

Virginia Citizen Assaulted and Arrested by VMFA security.

Via Theresa

Virginia citizen assaulted and arrested by Virginia Museum of Fine Arts security for honoring his ancestor on the anniversary of his entrance into the Old Soldier's Home, on the grounds of R.E. Lee Memorial park. His crime? Holding a flag in a public park.

===================================

I was at the VMFA today not to protest anything but to honor my ancestor who spent 16 years living at the old soldiers home here in Richmond Virginia. This is the day my ancestor was admitted to old the soldiers home in 1908. I went on the property to honor this ancestor with a flag the museum has put in their policies that I cannot carry on the property. I asked when approached by security if I could see va law or statutes that made it illegal. Head of VMFA security left and came back with a procedure and rules that they made and printed up to say that it was forbidden on the property with the flag. I made the comment to the Richmond police officers that piece of paper was not Virginia law and how could i be doing anything illegal in a PUBLIC STATE PARK! I did not get a answer back from the RIchmond officer but was asked to leave again. Security officer coles approached me and notified me that I had 2 choices to sign a summons and leave the property or get arrested. I told him that I wasnt signing anything.

The head of VMFA security said that the citation was off the tables as I was walking off the property and on to the sidewalk. I went to walk back on the public side walk where I was pushed from behind , my flag pole pulled from my hand and I went directly to the RIchmond Police officers asking them to protect me from the security guard. At this point I was arrested for trespassing. I was not breaking any laws. Just because someone makes up a rule it doesn't mean it is right or constitutional. No one could show me I was breaking the law in a public park. I spent less than 30 mins in handcuffs, walked back from point 9th street, and made it to my daughters birthday dinner and party.. Court is feb4th.. I am ready to accept any responsibility for breaking any law if I did and I leave the outcome in Gods hands now.
