It is with great sadness that I note the resumption of posts such as this one, along with repeated follow-ups.
As the person who first taught Mike how to run Blogger software, I am in no small part responsible for creating this destructive bullshit.
Even as mortality looms for both himself and these United States, he simply cannot stop himself.
Tragic.
Almost as much as the pointless diversion of energy from more productive enterprises — whether the nearly three-year-overdue completion of the first volume in an important trilogy or the building of a freedom-minded community on defensible ground.
You would think that, being surrounded by murderous collectivists and their stooges at every compass point, this petty nonsense would stop.
You would be wrong.
NC: “Fire And Be Damned”
VERBATIM
Battle of Alamance 1771
The Regulator Movement was a mid 18th century uprising against
State and County officials by farmers in the backwoods areas of NC ,
mostly in Anson, Orange and Granville Counties. In those days, the
eastern end of the State was settled with the Capitol and Royal Governor
in New Bern, western (what we would now call central) North Carolina
was frontier.
The farmers who had migrated west felt they were being taxed too much for their less valuable land and were rightly upset at officials running their offices for personal gain. Frustrated at the governments refusal to hear their grievances, they formed themselves as the Regulators.
Appointed officials were targeted for threats and violence. In one instance, they seized Edmund Fanning and dragged him by his heels down some stairs, banging his head on each one. Another official’s home was raided and his belongings thrown out the window.
When William Tryon was appointed governor and built his “palace” with public money, things got worse coming to a head on 16 May, 1771. Tryon and 1000 militia soldiers met around 2000 Regulators west of Hillsboro. The Regulators attempted to talk, but Tryon would only hear them if they laid down their weapons and dispersed within the hour. When no reply came from the Regulators, the governor sent a message that he would fire on them unless they disbanded.
“Fire and be damned” was the response.
The engagement lasted about two hours with the better trained and equipped militia claiming victory.

The past shows unvaryingly that when a people’s freedom disappears, it goes not with a bang, but in silence amid the comfort of being cared for. That is the dire peril in the present trend toward statism. If freedom is not found accompanied by a willingness to resist, and to reject favors, rather than to give up what is intangible but precarious, it will not long be found at all.
—Richard Weaver, 1962
===================================
From the end of the American Revolution, two
civilizations “of quite different impulse” grew up in the United States,
and author Richard M. Weaver writes: “was it not inevitable that one
should make war on the other and offer it the alternative of being
“reconstructed” or perishing?” Regarding peaceful secession, Weaver
adds: “When personalities begin to clash in a household, it is often
best for one party to remove and set up an independent establishment of
its own.”

“The events leading up to the historical separation of the two sections are too well known to need detailed review. Economic and political disagreements arose to accentuate the underlying differences. The first issue to poison the relations between North and south following the “Era of Good Feeling” was the tariff.
It is unquestionable that the protective tariff has worked great injury to the South from that date until, as one might say, the South was partly transformed into an image of the North through industrialization. For the interest of the South as a region producing agricultural surpluses has historically lain in free trade. The South sent abroad rice, indigo, cotton and tobacco and took in exchange the manufactured products of Europe.
The North began to use the Federal Union to put an artificially high price upon manufactured goods in order to help its industries. The South was therefore put into the position of selling cheap and buying dear. All this meant that the agrarian way of livelihood, characterized by Jefferson as the most innocent form of vocation, could not be continued except under penalty of heavy tax.
As Abbott Lawrence of Massachusetts wrote to Daniel Webster regarding the Tariff of 1828: “This bill if adopted as amended will keep the South and West in debt to New England for the next hundred years.”
There was of course the curse of slavery. During the Civil War one ingenious Northern general pronounced the Negroes to be “contrabands.” Contrabands they may well have been from the beginning, and I have often wondered why the sellers of this article were not held more reprehensible than the users, as it is true of those who peddle cocaine. A large number of these hapless slaves were brought to American in New England bottoms, and more than one fortune in Newport and New Bedford owes its origin to profits in black flesh.
The facts could be represented thus: New England sold the slaves to the South, then later declared their possession immoral and confiscated the holding. The morality of the case was less clear to the Southerners than to the agitators of Boston, and even Lincoln, if we may judge by his less political utterances, tended to believe the common guilt of the nation.”

House Reads Out Constitution, Only 74 Members Show Up
Via Eric
Pathetic
In what was supposed to be a symbolic gesture of the enduring greatness of the US Constitution, and the rights it outlines for all Americans, the House read the entire document out aloud on the chamber floor yesterday. However, the symbolism backfired somewhat when only a fraction of representatives bothered to show up.
In the midst of the Obama administration’s ongoing efforts to eviscerate the Second Amendment by executive order, it was extremely telling that so few members of the House took the time to show their respect for the Constitution.
The document was divided into 120 sections, with GOP House leaders believing that at least that many members would show up to each read a section.
When all was said and done, however, only 74 members attended. The Washington Times notes that the House ran out of Democrats before they even got past Article IV, which is less than halfway through the document.
Just 25 Democrats valued the idea enough to turn up for the reading, while a meager 49 Republicans attended. This meant that each reader had to take two or three sections.
The entire reading took around 66 minutes.

NC: Three wrong-headed Triangle mayors speak about guns
Via NC Links
On Jan. 11, Durham Mayor Bill Bell made a lot of sense when he called for higher bails for those committing gun crimes. I was pleased because this showed that the mayor understood that the problem was not the gun but the criminal.
But just four days later all that was out the window. Suddenly, the gun itself was the evil thing that was the problem, not the irresponsible bad guy using it:
But, third, banning “military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines” is a canard. “Military-style” weapons, to gun-grabbers like these three mayors, include any semi-automatic rifle or shotgun that is painted flat black, which has an adjustable stock, and a flash suppressor. All of these are cosmetic features. Nearly every gun manufactured these days is semi-automatic, meaning each time you pull the trigger, one shot is discharged. In function, your average deer rifle is no different. And a flat-black home defense shotgun is no different in function than a Browning skeet gun.
But most disingenuous of all is the idea that banning such “military-style assault weapons” will solve the problems these mayors face in their cities. The story points out, grimly, that Durham had 22 homicides last year, 20 of those involving guns. I’d ask Bell and these three mayors: How many of those 20 homicides involved so-called “military-style assault weapons”? My guess is none.
No, it isn’t AR-15s, the latest “military-style assault weapon” boogeyman of the left, that causes most gun deaths in Durham, or any other city in the country. It’s the handgun. Why no mention of the 9mm, choice of thugs everywhere, at this press conference?
Mayors, it’s not “assault rifles” that are the problem. It’s not pistols that are the problem. The problem is criminals and crazy people who misuse them. Bell seemed to understand this a few days ago. Wonder what happened.

The mayors of Chapel Hill, Durham and Morrisville called Monday for Congress to enact “common-sense” gun-law reforms.Among the changes that Bell, Chapel Hill Mayor Mark Kleinschmidt, and Morrisville Mayor Jackie Holcombe urged Congress to pass laws:
They were among more than 800 U.S. mayors who issued a coordinated statement on behalf of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns lobbying organization.
• Requiring criminal background checks for all gun buyersSeveral points. First off, making sure crazy people and criminals can’t get firearms is something even avid gun owners support. Second, gun owners also support the criminalization of gun-trafficking, especially by Obama’s attorney general, Eric Holder.
• Banning military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines
• Making gun trafficking a federal crime

Ask the Russians, Germans, Chinese, and anybody else in the world. The only thing preventing total tyranny right now in the USA is that there are 300 million guns out there, & government doesn't know where they are.
Only two (2) gun organizations get this: Gun Owners of America & Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. Rest of 'em just don't get it.
Joe "Foot-in-Mouth" Biden: If not now, when?
Hello -- Today President Obama announced a plan to help protect our kids and communities from gun violence. You're going to hear a lot about it, but I wanted to make sure you got a chance to get the facts, straight from me. After hearing from Americans from across the political spectrum, we decided to focus on some key priorities: closing background check loopholes, banning *military-style assault weapons, making our schools safer, and increasing access to mental health services. *Ah, yes, it's the "style" that is so deadly........ The ideas we sent to President Obama are straightforward. Each of them honors the rights of law-abiding, responsible Americans to bear arms. Some of them will require action from Congress; the President is acting on others immediately. But they're all commonsense and will help make us a little safer. Now is the time for all of us to act. Read about the events that brought us to this point, learn about the plan we've proposed to help protect our kids, and then add your name in support to help build momentum for this plan. Here's what we've put together: We're calling for requiring background checks for all gun sales and closing the (non-existent) loopholes that allow dangerous individuals to make their purchase without going through one of these checks. We're asking for a new, stronger ban on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines that allow a shooter to fire dozens of bullets *as quickly as he can pull a trigger. And we're asking Congress to help protect law enforcement by **make it illegal for members of the public to possess armor-piercing bullets. *Kinda' like a six-shooter, no? **Screw you. We're going to give law enforcement more tools and resources to prevent and prosecute gun crimes, and we're going to end the freeze on gun violence research that prevents the Center from Disease Control from looking at the causes of gun violence. We're calling on Congress to help make schools safer by putting up to 1,000 school resource officers and mental health professionals in schools and ensuring they have comprehensive emergency management plans in place. And we're going to increase coverage so that students and young adults can get access to the mental health treatment they may need. We know that no policy we enact or law we enforce can prevent every senseless act of violence in our country. But if we can save the life of even one child, we have a deep responsibility to act. Now is the time to come together to protect our kids. Learn about the plan, then add your name alongside mine: http://www.whitehouse.gov/now- Thanks, Vice President Joe Biden |
Video Game Allows Players to Kill NRA Leaders Virtually
Taking issue with the suggestion by the National Rifle Association's Wayne LaPierre and David Keene that violent video games might have contributed to several recent mass shootings, a video game developer released a new online game earlier this week that allows players to shoot and kill NRA leaders.
Entitled "Bullet to the Head of the NRA," the game was published on the website Encylopedia Dramatica Forums by user "gizmo01942."
Accompanying the online release, the developer described the game as "a demo where you get to shoot some of the NRA's actual key members in response to them blaming violence on video games."
"I really want to shoot Wayne [LaPierre] in the head in a video game because I'm pissed about how he and others on his side have blamed violence on video games," Gizmo01942 wrote, according to The Daily Caller. "I wanna see the man wet his pants on television and bitch about being victimized in a video game."
During a controversial speech responding to calls for stricter gun laws in the wake of the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., the NRA's CEO told reporters, "Isn't fantasizing about killing people as a way to get your kicks really the filthiest form of pornography?"
Gizmo01942 encouraged fellow online gamers to share the game far and wide on other Internet gaming platforms.
"Share this everywhere, especially gun-nut and anti-game websites," Gizmo01942 wrote. "Also see if you can’t send it in to the NRA somehow, like through the feedback on their website or something."
Gizmo01942's interest in developing violent, controversial videogames doesn't stop with killing the NRA's upper echelon. The online gamer reportedly is in the process of developing a new game based on the Newtown shooting itself.
With the working title of "Class Warfare," gizmo01942 reportedly wrote to fellow online gamers, "I need any information you can find on the layout of the school, what it looked like inside and out, how big their classes typically were."

Dismantling the Mouthbreather in Chief's Gun Policies
VERBATIM
LANGUAGE!
The
following is a list, provided by the White House, of executive actions
President Obama plans to take to address gun violence.
1.
Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make
relevant data available to the federal background check system
Meaning
"nothing." This is supposed to already exist. The mass of the
bureaucracy makes it awkward, and adding more bureaucracy is not the
answer.
2.
Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states
from making information available to the background check system.
So, abolish HIPAA? Because that's exactly what it does in this case.
3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
More nothing.
4.
Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals
prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not
slipping through the cracks.
In other words, tell him to do his job? And would this include NOT selling guns to Mexican drug lords?
5.
Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full
background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
This is already the case.
6.
Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing
guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
I've
never met an FFL who didn't know how to do that. It's already in the
"guidance." You can even call ATF and they'll talk you through it.
7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
Ads about gun safety from idiots who don't know a fucking thing about guns. Great.
8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
Because criminals are very concerned about keeping their weapons secure.
9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
You
want to do what the NRA, GOA, CCRKBA and most conservatives have been
asking the Feds to do for 30 years? And people say you can't teach a
pig to sing. Will this actually happen, though?
10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
This
might help, if it's actually a searchable database...and if local LEO
actually use it...something the President has no control over.
11. Nominate an ATF director.
Oh, right. You haven't had one for several years. [Popeye voice] How embarassking! /Popeye voice
12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
"You:
Curl up in a ball in the corner and kiss your ass goodbye. You: set
up a command post and have press releases ready about how bad guns are."
13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
Will
this involve a paradigm or actualization and implementation of core
competencies? Because it sounds like corporate board room bullshit.
14.
Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease
Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
What
about knife violence? Domestic violence? Drunken violence? Maybe the
cause is People? Nah, that's too hard and would require real thinking.
15.
Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and
most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the
private sector to develop innovative technologies.
"Hey,
head lawyer: What do you know about mechanical engineering? No?
DAMN!" But let's look at that: We should spend billions, most of our
profits, to develop something that won't work, is easily disabled, that
police and military will be exempt from using, and might get me sued if
it fails and someone dies, or fails and lets a criminal shoot? How
about, "Go fuck yourself." Does that work for you?
16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
So
what? What exactly does asking someone about guns in their homes do?
And as I read the 1st and 5th Amendments, I can tell the doctor to go
fuck himself, or say nothing at all.
17.
Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal
law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement
authorities.
Wow! There are doctors who don't know that?
18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
So...exactly what the NRA proposed...hidden down around the end. Sneaky, sneaky. I see what you did there.
19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
Assuming they all have the same floorplan, environment, local demographics and threats, that's brilliant. Wait, what?
20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
I won't comment on this because it might actually be useful, but I have no idea what he actually said.
21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
Ditto
22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
I'm
withholding comment until I'm sure that doesn't mean "Waste more money,
create a bunch of buzzwords not in DSM IV and outrage the mental health
community."
23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.
"Mental health is a good thing. We should definitely get some for Washington."
Piers Morgan on Domestic Thermonuclear War
Via Don
Hattip to Jim Treacher. CNN talking head Piers Morgan, desperately trying to hold on to any shreds of credibility after his shellacking by Ben Shapiro, emitted this email:
America has over 5000 nuclear warheads. Quite hard to defend against a ‘tyrannical U.S. government’ with that kind of firepower.
Where to begin?
First, it is unlikely that even the most mad US President would decide to use nukes to put down a rebellion in these United States. Too many of his own supporters would be killed and the overall reaction would likely be for the rebellion to grow as a result of his action.
Second, a wide spread rebellion in the United States would likely have the sympathy of factions within the US military, if not their active support. The order to nuke Americans might lead to an active revolt by the military.
Third, in the event of a widespread rebellion, the rebels would probably quickly have nukes of their own. In the case of Obama, most ICBMs and tactical nukes are located on bases in Red states.
Morgan also indicated that it would be impossible for the US government to ever be a tyranny. The Founding Fathers did not think so. Daniel Webster, perhaps the greatest statesman in the generation that followed the Founding Fathers, summed up their wisdom in a speech on March 15, the Ides of March, 1837:
Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.
The Founding Fathers, in all they did, struggled to pass on the blessings of liberty to their posterity. Ensuring that the American people would remain, in the words of a British officer during the Revolution, “a people numerous and armed”, was one part of the safeguards that they gave us against tyranny. That Mr. Morgan, a newcomer to these shores, does not understand this is to be expected. That more than a few Americans join him in his ignorance is a shame for our time.
Good Lord. Go back from where you came and don't bother us anymore. Idiot.

Democrat Says She Wants to Impeach President Obama
Via Cousin Bill
Kesha Rogers is no longer getting any form of backing from the Democratic Party. The woman who once had aspirations of running for Congress, has lost the support of the party for committing a serious political sin: Calling for the impeachment of President Obama.
Rogers says that President Obama has presented “non-leadership” on the issues that matter most to Americans. She says that the party allows President Obama to remain controlled by a corrupt financial system, and that even Hitler would be proud of the polices that are touted by the president.
“Mr. Obama is a puppet of the bankrupt financial system, and has pushed policies made notorious by the Adolph Hitler regime, and since condemned by the entire world,” said Rogers.
Rogers was the Democratic nominee for the 22nd Congressional district in Texas. Gilberto Hinojosa, chairman of the Texas Democratic Party, is shocked that Rogers was able to win her primary because the Democrats haven’t given her resources to win.

Parents Furious After Boys Suspended For Using Fingers As Guns

Is it child’s play or a serious threat of gun violence? For the second time in less than a month, a Maryland child is kicked out of school for using his finger in the shape of a gun.
Kai Jackson has more on the controversy.
No one is debating the importance of keeping children safe. The question being asked is what’s child’s play and what’s not?
There’s controversy at a Talbot County school after two 6-year-old boys were suspended while playing cops and robbers during recess and using their fingers to make an imaginary gun.
“It’s ridiculous,” said parent Julia Merchant.
This is the second time a Maryland child has been suspended for such play. Earlier this month, 6-year-old Rodney Lynch was suspended from his Montgomery County school after pretending to fire an imaginary gun more than once.
Is it child’s play or a serious threat of gun violence? For the second time in less than a month, a Maryland child is kicked out of school for using his finger in the shape of a gun.
No one is debating the importance of keeping children safe. The question being asked is what’s child’s play and what’s not?

Obama: Doctors Should Ask About Guns in Homes
Via Calvin Johnson
You’re visiting your doctor because you have flu symptoms. After checking your heart, pulse and other vital signs, your doctor turns to you and asks, “By the way, the federal government has authorized me to ask you, What type and how many guns do you have in your home?"
Sounds like George Orwell’s "1984"?
Wrong.
It’s 2013. And if President Barack Obama gets his way by executive order, doctors across the country could play a key role in his new gun control initiative.
On Wednesday morning, Obama released a sweeping 23 executive actions and orders he will take to limit gun usage.
Already, talk of the executive orders has raised significant controversy. Order 16, for example, may raise serious concerns with privacy advocates.
The order, as summarized, simply states federal agencies will “clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.”
In addition, a fact sheet provided by the White House with the order list elaborates: “Clarify that no federal law prevents health care providers from warning law enforcement authorities about threats of violence.”

Rep. Nadler: Two to Four Self-Defense Shots is Enough
Blithering idiot.
Hunters don’t use large ammunition clips, and as far as self defense, I mean who are you defending yourself against? If you’re defending yourself against a robber…if you have a pistol permit or you’re carrying a gun because you work for Wells Fargo and you’re taking money in and out of a bank or something, two or three or four shots should be enough—period.
Nadler felt similarly about looting, riots, and mob situations. When
asked about the looting circumstances that business owners faced post
super storm Sandy, Nadler responded:
The same thing is the case. Second, there weren’t so many mobs looting (during Sandy). If you are in a store…I’m not aware of any mobs looting. One or two shots should be enough. You don’t want to start mowing down 30 or 40 people. Hopefully you’re not going to do that. You don’t need to do that. The police shouldn’t do that either. Nobody should be doing that. The only people who should ever be firing large clips of ammunition is the military.

LWRC 5.45X39 Upper Receiver - M6AK in 5.45x39
The LWRCI M6-AK upper is an M6A2 style upper chambered in the
5.45x39mm cartridge. It features a 14.7” barrel with permanently
attached A2 flash hider. It has the LWRCI Mark 1 ARM-R rail system and
utilizes LWRCI’s patented short-stroke gas-piston operating system.
The
5.45x39mm cartridge was developed as the Soviet’s answer to the
American and NATO countries 5.56x45mm cartridge. It was chambered in
their AK-74 rifles and its ballistics closely mirror those of our 5.56
round.
There are currently large quantities of this ammo
available to American shooters at incredible prices. Most of the surplus
ammo is mildly corrosive, so careful cleaning of the rifle is required
after every session. One great advantage of shooting this ammo out of a
piston gun as compared to a direct impingement gun, is that all of the
dirty / corrosive propellant gases are vented at the gas block instead
of being blasted back into the receiver where they can foul not only the
upper but the lower as well. The cleaner operating characteristics of
piston guns make sense with any ammo but when shooting corrosive ammo it
becomes a no brainer.
Why the 5.45 upper?
The
reason we built these uppers is to take advantage of this cheap supply
of ammo. Owners of our rifles typically shoot a lot. If you figure that
an average upper has a minimum lifespan of 15,000 rounds and that most
of those rounds will be spent training, shooting paper targets and the
like. Why would you spend an extra $3600 to accomplish that?
Caliber Cost per round Number of Rounds Cost
5.56 NATO 0.35 15,000 $5250
5.45x39mm 0.11 15,000 $1650
Savings $3600

NRA: NY Gun Law 'Draconian'
"The National Rifle Association and our New York members are outraged at the draconian gun control bill that was rushed through the process late Monday evening.
"Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature orchestrated a secretive end-run around the legislative and democratic process and passed sweeping anti-gun measures with no committee hearings and no public input.
Editor's Note: Should Obama Ban Guns? Vote in Poll
"Hammered out in a backroom in Albany, S. 2230 was quickly drafted and released 20 minutes prior to the Senate vote. It passed as the clock ticked toward midnight.
"This legislation lowers New York's arbitrary magazine capacity limit from ten rounds to seven. It also greatly expands the state's existing ban on commonly owned semi-automatic firearms, and will require New York gun owners to undergo background checks on ammunition purchases.
"These gun control schemes have failed in the past and will have no impact on public safety and crime.
