A draft letter for your Pastor

Via Peter

When do you intend to declare where you stand on this gun grab issue?

The simple fact is that those people in Washington intend to take away firearms from every American. Regardless of which path they choose, it’s a declaration of war against America by this Government.

You have firearms owners within this congregation. Lots of them. You have law enforcement in this congregation.

If this whole thing proceeds forward, then everyone will have to choose where they stand. Those who wear a badge will have to choose whether to honor their oaths or obey their orders. People like me will have to decide when, where, and against whom we fight and whether to play defense or go on offense.

As the pastor you have the unenviable task of being the undershepherd to this church and delivering God’s word. You have to take a stand and speak what you think is true and right whether anyone supports you or not. But as the leader, you do not have the luxury to just wait and see.

We are headed towards a showdown about restrictions on government and the rights of the people. About who’s in charge and who is the servant. About whether government is our servant or our master. About whether we’re citizens or subjects. And these are truly talking irreconcilable viewpoints here. There is no middle ground where we should be compelled to accept partial slavery here. There is no middle ground where we should be compelled to accept a little more tyranny. If there were, then we should all be British subjects and the founders would have all swung from the gallows.

NC: First in the Nation: Beaufort County, NC Adopts Federal Gun Laws Nullification Resolution

Via NC Renegade

We need these fine gentlemen in control of our Republic.

The Beaufort County (N. C.) Board of Commissioners, meeting in special session January 18, 2013, adopted unanimously a resolution calling upon the N. C. General Assembly to take necessary measures to nullify any Federal action within the State that infringes on the Second Amendment's guarantee of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. The resolution further directed the County Manager to insure that no county employees or resources were used in Federal actions that infringe on Second Amendment rights and called upon the Legislature to adopt necessary measures to call for, with the concurrence of two-thirds of the other states, the convening of a constitutional convention for the "specific purpose of amending the Unites States Constitution to strengthen the Second and Tenth Amendments…"

The motion was made by Commissioner Hood Richardson and seconded Commissioner Stan Deatherage and it was adopted with Vice Chairman Al Klemm and Commissioner Gary Brinn voting for adoption. Each commissioner made a brief statement of why they supported the resolution as can be heard in the video below. Three commissioners, all Democrats, were absent: Jerry Langley, Ed Booth, and Robert Belcher.

The action took place before an overflow crowd of citizens most of whom appeared to be in support of the action.

You can watch the entire meeting in the 16 minute video below:

Texas AG ad targets N.Y. gun owners

Via Cousin Bill

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is inviting New Yorkers who aren’t pleased by Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s new gun regulations to move to his home state to keep their Second Amendment rights.

A series of Web ads were launched Wednesday, popping up across screens on various media websites accessed in Manhattan and Albany, including that of The New York Times, reported the Austin American-Statesman. The ads are paid for with Abbott’s campaign operation Texans for Greg Abbott and promise the uninfringed right to bear arms as well as lower taxes and more money for ammo.

One particular Facebook ad reads:

“Here in Texas, you will have the liberty and the opportunity to achieve your dreams. On top of that, we have no income tax, yet still manage to have a multi-billion dollar budget surplus.

“We have right to work laws and a reasonable regulatory environment. Texas has created more than 275,000 jobs in the last year alone! And we’ll fight like hell to protect your rights.

“You’ll also get to keep more of what you earn and use some of that extra money to buy more ammo.
“I hope to see you soon in Texas. In the meantime, sign up to show your support for our second amendment rights.”

Rand Paul rips Christie for NRA attack

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, a possible 2016 presidential contender, on Friday slammed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, another potential presidential hopeful, saying a number of the governor’s recent positions would likely alienate GOP primary voters.

“I think criticizing the Second Amendment movement and the over-the-top ‘give me my money’ stuff, ‘I want all 60 billion now or I’ll throw a tantrum,’ I don’t think that’s going to play well in the Republican primary,” Paul, the libertarian-leaning GOP senator, said of the Republican governor.

Former Mayor of New Orleans Is Charged in Sweeping Corruption Case

Via Billy

Color me not surprised.

C. Ray Nagin, the former mayor of this city who fulminated against the federal government’s response to Hurricane Katrina but became for many a symbol of the shortcomings of government himself, was indicted by a federal grand jury on Friday on 21 counts including conspiracy, bribery and money laundering.

The indictment detailed a wide-ranging scheme of kickbacks and pay-for-play of a kind not entirely unfamiliar in Louisiana history. Contractors and vendors looking for work with the city would provide the mayor with vacations, big checks and even free granite for his family business. In exchange, they would be awarded lucrative contracts with the city, assistance in defusing community opposition to their projects and even forgiveness of tax penalties.

While federal prosecutors have convicted a Louisiana governor, a congressman, a city councilman and members of the school board in the past 15 years alone, this is the first time in New Orleans history that a mayor has been indicted on corruption charges.

Christie supports gun-control efforts and assault-weapons ban

Screw you.  Just change your affiliation to Democratic and get it over with.

There he goes again.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Thursday became the most prominent Republican to criticize the National Rifle Association — calling its advertisement referencing President Barack Obama’s daughters “reprehensible.”

“I think any of us who are public figures, you see that kind of ad and you cringe,” Christie said at a news conference where he introduced a task force on guns and mental health.

Christie, facing re-election this year in heavily Democratic blue state New Jersey, appears to have made beating up on fellow Republicans and their supporters a central theme of his campaign.

The NRA’s ad called Obama an “elitist hypocrite” for not supporting armed guards at schools, even though his daughters receive armed protection at school.

Obama's children attend the Sidwell school, an elite private academy in Washington, DC. The school has approximately a dozen armed security guards.

Additionally, the President's children are protected by a Secret Service detail.

“Are the presidents’ kids more important than yours?” the ad’s narrator asks.

The NRA, based in Fairfax, Va., in the wake of the Newton shooting, called for putting armed security guards in all schools.

NBC Poll: Public Blames Parents, Hollywood Over Guns for Violence

Americans place more blame for mass shootings on parents and Hollywood than they do on guns, a surprising new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll reveals.

Asked how much responsibility several choices might bear for the shootings that have taken place in Tucson, Ariz.; Aurora, Colo.; and Newtown, Conn., guns came in fifth.

The top choice was “parents not paying enough attention to what is going on in their children’s lives” — 83 percent said that was “a great deal” or a “good amount” responsible. Only 4 percent said “none at all.”

The second choice, selected by 82 percent as “a great deal”
or “a good amount,” was “the lack of effective treatment for mental illness.”

Next came “the amount of media coverage of mass shootings,” at 67 percent.

Fourth was “movies, television programs, and video games that portray violence and violent behavior,” chosen by 62 percent.

Tied for fifth place at 59 percent each was “assault and military-style firearms being legal to purchase,” and “the availability of high capacity ammunition clips.”

Rasmussen: 65% See Gun Rights as Protection Against Tyranny

Two-out-of-three Americans recognize that their constitutional right to own a gun was intended to ensure their freedom.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 65 percent of American Adults think the purpose of the Second Amendment is to make sure that people are able to protect themselves from tyranny. Only 17 percent disagree, while another 18 percent are not sure.

Not surprisingly, 72 percent of those with a gun in their family regard the Second Amendment as a protection against tyranny. However, even a majority (57 percent) of those without a gun in their home hold that view.

Many gun control advocates talk of the right to gun ownership as relating to hunting and recreational uses only.

While there are often wide partisan differences of opinion on gun-related issues, even 54 percent of Democrats agree with 75 percent of Republicans and 68 percent of those not affiliated with either major party that the right to own a gun is to ensure such freedom.

Neat: Glock has put the 36 slide on the 30

He made a mistake stating later a 36 frame, but it is a 30 frame.

Glock Firearms
http://www.glock.com/

Glock has the luxury of being able to sell pretty much as many guns as they can make, but they still have a finely tuned ear to consumers and LE in order to figure out exactly what is the next Glock that will make you happy. This G30s is a compact .45ACP with a 10 round magazine and slightly thinner grip, and the unique feature is that they have put a G36 slide on it, making it thinner and easier to conceal. They can use the thinner slide because the .45ACP is not a particularly high pressure cartridge. It was designed just after the turn of the last century and is known as the ultimate manstopper in a handgun. A lot of us prefer to carry it, but the guns can be bulky. This new G30s reduces the footprint of Glock’s 10 round 45ACP gun, making it a great choice for concealed carry. Glock also has a few new Gen 4 guns this year, and they hope to release this 30s in Gen 4 as well as
 the G36.

NC: Legislation restricting gun ownership

Thank you for contacting me regarding your concerns about 2nd Amendment rights.  I share your concern, especially in light of recent executive orders that have been issued by President Obama.  With his continued executive actions, it is becoming more and more evident that our Constitutional freedoms are under attack.

I assure you that I will diligently monitor any legislation that is proposed this year in NC that would impact 2nd Amendment rights.  I was endorsed by the NRA in 2012, and I have and always will be a defender of the rights of law abiding gun owners.  With Republican majorities in both the NC House and Senate this session, I do not anticipate that any legislation restricting gun ownership will move forward.  Again, thank you for contacting me with your concerns about this issue.

As a citizen you are expected to pursue your grievances through the courts, including attempts to tread on your liberties. A government gun grab would violate the Second and Fourth Amendments, but it wouldn't justify the use of deadly force, which is reserved for situations where you or other innocents face immediate death or serious bodily harm, not for protecting property or liberty.  For the same reason, you're not allowed to shoot someone who tries to infringe your 1st Amendment rights.  The constitution does protect you from the government treading on your liberty, but it does not grant you the use of deadly force in doing so.

I'm sure TJ wholeheartedly disagrees as do I and many others.

The New York Times is the "house organ" of the American Left. It's provided many a service to the Obama Administration. We can’t have those out there. Because if they’re out there they’re just going to get circulated around to the wrong people. Those guns should not be in the public’s hands.  As documents relating to the Sandy Hook shooting continue to be assessed and interpreted by independent researchers, there is a growing awareness that the media coverage of the massacre of 26 children and adults was intended primarily for public consumption to further larger political ends. While it sounds like an outrageous claim, one is left to inquire whether the Sandy Hook shooting ever took place — at least in the way law enforcement authorities and the nation's news media have described.

Writer offers reasonable gun limits

A parody?

VERBATIM

To the editor:

In the wake of the Dec. 14 gun massacre of school children and staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, I came up with a few reasonable proposals for gun regulations.

I’m sure they have absolutely no chance of adoption, but I thought I’d share them anyway.

1) Preserve the 2nd Amendment.

2) Each household will be allowed to possess a maximum of one weapon per adult for home protection.

3) All weapons to be sold out of government run retailers, like ABC stores in North Carolina, which are the only legal outlet for liquor.

4) Each household will be allowed the limited amount of ammunition necessary for practice, etc. Ammunition will also be sold by government- run retailers.

5) All purchases will be tracked by computer.

6) Privately run gun ranges for practice and sport shooting will be allowed. They will be able to sell ammunition for use on site.

7) Additional ownership of hunting guns will be allowed, which must be single-shot only (good enough for Dan’l Boone, it’s good enough for you).

8) Possession of guns/ammunition over the limit will be penalized.

Holder Begs Court to Stop Document Release on Fast and Furious

Via Billy

Attorney General Eric Holder and his Department of Justice have asked a federal court to indefinitely delay a lawsuit brought by watchdog group Judicial Watch. The lawsuit seeks the enforcement of open records requests relating to Operation Fast and Furious, as required by law.

Judicial Watch had filed, on June 22, 2012, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking all documents relating to Operation Fast and Furious and “specifically [a]ll records subject to the claim of executive privilege invoked by President Barack Obama on or about June 20, 2012.”

The administration has refused to comply with Judicial Watch’s FOIA request, and in mid-September the group filed a lawsuit challenging Holder’s denial. That lawsuit remains ongoing but within the past week President Barack Obama’s administration filed what’s called a “motion to stay” the suit. Such a motion is something that if granted would delay the lawsuit indefinitely.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said that Holder’s and Obama’s desire to continually hide these Fast and Furious documents is “ironic” now that they’re so gung-ho on gun control. “It is beyond ironic that the Obama administration has initiated an anti-gun violence push as it seeking to keep secret key documents about its very own Fast and Furious gun walking scandal,” Fitton said in a statement. “Getting beyond the Obama administration’s smokescreen, this lawsuit is about a very simple principle: the public’s right to know the full truth about an egregious political scandal that led to the death of at least one American and countless others in Mexico. The American people are sick and tired of the Obama administration trying to rewrite FOIA law to protect this president and his appointees. Americans want answers about Fast and Furious killings and lies.”

Open Letter to the President Barack Obama

Mr. President

Today, there are families who question the direction of the nation. There are fathers and mothers trying to figure out how to pay the bills, to put children through college, to just get by everyday when wages have been depressed by overwhelming unemployment. I know it is at 7.8%, but that doesn't tell the whole story. Your economists understand what I am saying.

We are a nation saddled with many bills and deficits that are not realistically ever going to be repaid. For example, the treasury receives around 2.3 trillion dollars in revenue every year, but spends nearly 5 trillion, or 5,000 billion dollars. There are concerns that to continue to operate the federal government, social security, medicare, medicaid, etc., the government is going to have to devalue the dollar. QE 1&2 didn't do it. The Stimulus package went largely to government entities as grants and such. This is not a criticism, but it is a fact. That money did not filter down to small business.

I believe that at some point the government is going to have to crash the dollar to pay off some of the bonds already held in order to borrow more money to pay the bills. This is not radical, I think it is something you already know is necessary. I think you proved that by excercising Quantitative Easing 1& 2. It will be an accounting correction to you and the federal government, but it will destroy the lives of millions of Americans. I will cede that the damage was not done by you alone, far from it, but it will fall to you to make that fateful decision.

Under your predecessor, George W. Bush, at a time of national crisis, we ceded some of our rights to the federal government believing that the only way to keep terrorists from attacking our homeland was to give a little when it came to privacy. But, even though it was Bush who got us into it, you have done nothing to restore liberty now that Al Qaeda, in your words is "on the run." When will these temporary violations of the Fourth and Fifth Amendments going to be restored and what is your plan to restore them and in what degrees?

Christie Slams ‘Reprehensible’ NRA For ‘Dragging People’s Children’ Into Gun Control Debate

Switch parties now, idiot, as though Obama didn't do much worst. Logic isn't your trump card.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie slammed the National Rifle Association’s latest ad in which they accuse President Barack Obama of hypocrisy for sending his children to a school where they are protected by armed guards. Christie called the ad “reprehensible” and said that the NRA should not be “dragging people’s children” into the gun control debate.

“I think any of us who are public figures, you see that kind of ad and you cringe,” Christie said on Thursday at a news conference in Trenton. “I’m a father who is a public figure, who has four children and my children had no choice realistically in what I decided to do with my career and what affect that has had on their lives.”

“Don’t be dragging people’s children into this,” he added. “It’s wrong and I think it demeans them and it makes them less of a valid trusted source of information on the real issues that confront this debate.”

“Are the president’s kids more important than yours?” the narrator in the NRA advertisement asks. “Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their school?”

“Mr. Obama demands the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, but he’s just another elitist hypocrite when it comes to a fair share of security,” the controversial ad concludes.

Ban large breasts!:)

A Washington woman is accused of using her breasts to smother and kill her boyfriend after an altercation at their mobile home.

Donna Lange, a 51-year-old woman from Everett, Wash., is believed to have suffocated her boyfriend to death with her breasts on Saturday, Jan. 12, according to Seattle's KIRO 7 Eyewitness News. Deputies, called to the Airport Inn trailer park at 12:45 a.m. for a disturbance report, found medics performing CPR on Lange's 51-year-old alleged boyfriend, who was later pronounced dead at Swedish Hospital.

Kiro 7 reports that witnesses claims they saw Lange throw her boyfriend down in the back of the mobile home. She was later found by witnesses with her chest covering the victim's face. Police noted the size difference between Lange and her boyfriend -- she was 5-feet, 6-inches and 192 pounds, he was 5-feet, 7-inches and 175 pounds.

In Rush to Ban Guns, Andrew Cuomo Forgets to Exempt Law Enforcement

Via Angry Mike

It appears someone forgot to exempt police officers from the ban of ammunition clips with more than 7 bullets in New York State’s new gun control law...

...It’s a big oversight that apparently happened in the haste by the Cuomo Administration to get a tough package of gun-control measures signed into law...

A big oversight, huh? Yeah, well, stuff happens when you’re busy trampling the rights of the law-abiding.

On Tuesday, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the sweeping gun measure, the nation’s toughest. It includes a ban on the possession of high-capacity magazines... magazines with more than 7 rounds will be illegal under the new law.

The problem as the statute is currently written does NOT exempt law enforcement officers... The NYPD, the State Police and virtually every law enforcement agency in the state carry 9-milli-meter guns, which have a 15-round capacity.

Unless an exemption is added by the time the law takes effect in March, police would technically be in violation of the new gun measure
.
Abject stupidity, but entirely predictable. We surmise if anyone actually asked Cuomo he’d have no idea what the police carry. And don’t forget, this is the same guy who said he could “overpower the extremists” with “intelligence and with reason and with common sense.”

Obama Goes Nuts and Offers Anti-gunners Wish List

Most of his crazy proposals are so extreme, only few of his initiatives pose serious threat

Surrounded by child-props, Barack Obama yesterday proposed a semi-automatic ban so extreme that it could potentially outlaw up to 50% of all long guns in circulation and up to 80% of all handguns.

Originally, Obama's allies had announced they would reintroduce the 1994 ban on commonly-owned, defensive firearms.  That was until they found out that they would look like fools, since that semi-auto ban was largely the law of Connecticut on the day the Newtown shooting occurred -- and didn't cover Adam Lanza's AR-15.  After that, gun grabbers just kept adding more and more guns until they would register (or ban) a huge percentage of the defensive guns in existence.

So where are we now?

Obama's crazy gun ban is now being denounced by many Democrats. And, although you don't "pop the cork" until Congress adjourns, it will probably take the magazine ban down the toilet with it.

This means that gun owners' focus must now shift to the part of Obama's agenda which poses the most danger because it is most likely to move:  the requirement that the government approve every gun transfer in America -- the so-called universal background check.

All of you know why this is a problem.  But how do you explain it so simply that even a congressman can understand?  Let's take a crack at that:

ONE:  THE FBI'S "SECRET LIST" WHICH IS BEING USED TO BAR AMERICANS FROM OWNING GUNS IS INSIDIOUS

The FBI’s database currently contains the names of more than 150,000 veterans.  They served their country honorably.  They did nothing wrong.  But, because they sought counseling for a traumatic experience while risking their lives for America, they have had their constitutional rights summarily revoked, with no due process whatsoever.

You want to know something else?  The "secret list" could soon include tens of millions of Americans -- including soldiers, police, and fire fighters -- with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, and even post-partem depression.  This would be achieved under the 23 anti-gun "executive actions" that Obama announced yesterday.

TWO:  THE FBI REFUSES TO INSURE US THAT IT ISN'T TURNING ITS "SECRET LIST" INTO A NATIONAL GUN REGISTRY

Our legislative counsel drafted the Smith amendment in 1998 to prohibit the FBI from using the Brady Check system to tax gun buyers or put their names into a gun registry.  But the FBI refuses to tell us -- or even to tell U.S. Senators -- how (or whether) it is complying with the Smith amendment.  Why in the world should we give the FBI more authority and more names if it abuses the authority it already has?

This is the inherent problem with any background check, where gun buyers’ names are given to a government bureaucrat.  Is there any way to make sure that once a name is entered into a computer, that it doesn’t stay there permanently?

This concern is especially valid, considering how federal agents are already skirting the laws against gun owner registration.  Several dealers around the country have informed GOA that the ATF is increasingly going into gun shops and just xeroxing all of the 4473's, giving them the names of every gun owner who purchased a gun through that shop -- and setting up the basis for a national registration system.

This is illegal under the 1986 McClure-Volkmer law, but that has apparently not stopped it from being done.  If every gun in America has to go through a dealer, this will create a mechanism to compile a list of every gun owner in America.  And, as we have seen with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who has just been legislatively handed such a list, when that happens, the talk immediately turns to “confiscation."

THREE:  AS A RESULT, REQUIRING GOVERNMENT APPROVAL OF EVERY GUN OWNER IN AMERICA WOULD DO NOTHING BUT CREATE A PLATFORM FOR NATIONAL GUN REGISTRATION AND CONFISCATION.

As alluded to above, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo now has a comprehensive gun registry.  This is the most dangerous thing that New York legislators could have done -- as Cuomo has made it clear he’s considering gun confiscation of lawfully-owned firearms.

“I don’t think legitimate sportsmen are going to say, ‘I need an assault weapon to go hunting,’” Cuomo said.  “Confiscation could be an option. Mandatory sale to the state could be an option. Permitting could be an option -- keep your gun but permit it.”

How nice.  He’ll let gun owners “permit” their guns for now -- so that, presumably, they can be confiscated later, just as certain defensive weapons were confiscated in New York City during the Mayor David Dinkins administration in 1991.

FOUR:  THE FBI REFUSES TO COMPLY WITH THE LAW GUARANTEEING THE RIGHTS OF LEGITIMATE PURCHASERS

The Brady Law requires that the FBI correct erroneous denials of firearms purchases.  And it requires that it reply, initially, within five days.  According to attorneys familiar with the problem, the FBI NEVER, EVER, EVER complies with the law.  In fact, it increasingly tells aggrieved legitimate purchasers to "sue us" -- at a potential cost of tens of thousands of dollars.

FIVE:  EVEN UNDER CURRENT LAW, THE BRADY SYSTEM HAS BROKEN DOWN REPEATEDLY

Since its inception, the FBI’s computer systems have often gone offline for hours at a time -- sometimes for days.  And when it fails on weekends, it results in the virtual blackout of gun sales at gun shows across the country.

According to gun laws expert Alan Korwin, "With the NICS computer out of commission, the only place you could legally buy a firearm -- in the whole country -- was from a private individual, since all dealers were locked out of business by the FBI’s computer problem."

Of course, now the President wants to eliminate that last bastion of freedom!

Recently, the FBI’s system went down on Black Friday, angering many gun dealers and gun buyers around the country.  “It means we can’t sell no damn guns,” said Rick Lozier, a manager at Van Raymond Outfitters in Maine.  “If we can’t call it in, we can’t sell a gun.  It’s cost us some money.”

The bottom line:  Our goal is to insure that Obama's politicized dog-and-pony show doesn't produce one word of new gun law.  Not a single word.

And the biggest danger right now is universal background checks -- which would create a platform for national registration and confiscation.

We would note that, in addition, Obama is attempting to illegally enact gun control through unlawful and unconstitutional "executive actions."  Click here to read about these.

ACTION:  Click here to contact your senators and congressman.  Urge them to oppose the universal background check because it is a platform for national firearms registration and confiscation.

(My attending the Sheriffs’ Meeting last night in Zebulon was the motivation for this adaptation of “The Raven” by Edgar Allen Poe”) – NCGirl

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered the President’s executive orders weak and weary,
Over the Second Amendment and a brilliant manuscript of forgotten law,
While I read, jaws a-gaping suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one repeatedly rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“ ’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door —
Only this, and nothing more.”

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak November,
And voters cast their feckless ballots upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; — vainly I had sought to borrow
From the government surcease of sorrow — sorrow for the freedoms lost before -
For the rare and radiant liberty whom the forefathers’ covenant swore—
Might be Nameless here for evermore.

And the relentless controlling mumblings of each congressman
scared me — filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
“ ’Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door —
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; —
This it is, and nothing more.”

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
“Sir,” said I, “or Madam, whatever do you want I implore;
But the fact is I was reading and when you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my house door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you” — here I opened wide the door;
Darkness there, and nothing more.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the darkness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the words “what oath did thou forswore”
This I spoke and an echo spoke back the word, “ forswore”?
Merely this, and nothing more.

Then into my house a turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon I heard again a tapping somewhat louder than before.
“Surely,” said I, “surely that is something at my window lattice;
Let me see, then, what the threat is, and this mystery explore —
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;—
’Tis the wind, and nothing more!”

Opened the drawer, when, I all apprehensive and a-flutter,
In there stepped a man in gray uniform not of the pleasant days of yore;
Not the least obeisance made he; not an instant stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord, stared me down within my castle door —
Rigid behind gray clothing and just inside my castle door —
Stood hulking and foreboding and waiting for more.

Then this gray man beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the familiar and staid decorum of the countenance he wore,
“Though our rights be shorn and shaven, thou,” I said, “art sure no craven,
Ghastly and grim raven wandering from the D.C. shore —
Tell me what your business is here tonight at my house door?!”
Quoth the gray raven, “Arms! – no more.”

Much I marveled this ungainly fowl to hear dis
course so plainly,
Though his answer little meaning — little relevancy bore;
For we should be but agreeing that never no human being
Was so blest with seeing freedom, partly from his gun right near his own door —
If be natural law forsaken and in its stead man’s law du jour,
Lest True Liberty be spoken nevermore.”

But this gray raven, standing rigidly on my floor, spoke only
Those words, as if his soul in those words he did out pour.
Nothing farther then he uttered — nor his shirt be ruffled—
Till I scarcely more than muttered, “When we lose our arms as others have before —
Tomorrow freedom twill leave us, as history has shown us before.”
Quoth the gray raven, “Arms! – no more”.

Wondering at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
“Doubtless,” thought I, “what he utters is only stock and store,
Taught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful Disaster
Followed fast and followed faster — so, when Hope he would adjure,
Stern Despair returned, instead of the sweet Hope he dared adjure” —
That sad answer, “Arms! – no more.”

But the gray raven still same replying, all my fearing soul into hiding
Straight I walked towards him, looking him in the eyes as went towards the door;
My stomach, heart a-sinking, I betook myself to thinking
Scenario unto scenario, thinking what this ominous harbinger bore—
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous ghost of yore
Meant in croaking “Arms! – no more”.

Thus I stopped still, stressing, but no syllable expressing
To the man whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom’s core;
This and more I stood divining, with my heart’s ease declining,
In my own castle’s lamplight, and the property I rightfully owned,
In my own castle’s lamplight, and the property I rightfully owned!!,
He shall press me for my arms, ah, nevermore!

Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Swung by angels whose faint foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.
“Fool” I cried, “thy God hath lent thee — by our forefathers he hath sent thee
Respite — respite from oppression and more!

Remember the oaths taken to protect the manuscripts of yore, forget the law du jour!
Quoth the gray raven, “Arms! – No more.”
“Puppet!” said I, “thing of evil! — puppet still, if man or devil! —
Whether Tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
Desolate, yet all undaunted, in this land enchanted —
On this home by Horror haunted — tell me truly, I implore —
Are there — confiscations among the government elite? — tell me — tell me, I implore!”
Quoth the gray raven, “Nevermore.”

“Puppet!” said I, “thing of evil! — puppet still, if man or devil!
By that Heaven that bends above us — by that God we both adore —
Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within their distant D.C. haven
They shall grasp the profound manuscript whom the founders numbered before—
Grasp the Second Amendment and why they wrote it before
The gray raven paused, then a whispered quoth, “…Nevermore….”

“Then how can you justify the theft of both my arms and freedom” I shrieked, upstarting —
“Stick back thy head in the sand and back to your indenture
You shall get no arms of mine; my soul hath spoken!
Leave my freedom unbroken! — quit standing on my floor
Mind the oath that you made by heart; now art thou to take my arms and support the law du jour?!”
Quoth the gray raven, “NO MORE.”

And the gray raven, went walking, walking out my door without talking
My arms safely ensconced In my drawer;
As the man left I caught a look in his eyes, like awoke from dreaming,
His shoes tapping quickly as the porch light throws his shadow across my arbor;
And my soul came out from shadow, that the brilliant manuscript might endure
And shall be lifted again – and forevermore!

SHERIFF WILL NOT OBEY UNLAWFUL, UNCONSTITUTIONAL ORDERS

[Note: The following letter was sent to Vice President Joe Biden from Josephine County, Oregon Sheriff Gil Gilbertson regarding the Constitutional rights of the second Amendment to the US Constitution.]

January 15, 2013

Vice President Joe Biden
1600 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W.
Washington, DC 20501

Dear Mr. Vice President,

As the elected Sheriff of this County, I am saddled with the duty, as well as responsibility, to uphold the Constitution and protect those people who placed their trust in me to do what is right.

I believe in our Constitution and all it stands for. We, you and I, are sworn to protect and defend our Constitution as required through the “Oath of Office”. This same Constitutional form of government provided us with the most privileged, and envied, country in world history.

Someone once said our country would collapse from within, without a shot being fired. No nation in the world can do more damage to the United States than we can inflict upon ourselves. We are keenly aware of just that by the accelerated pace in which our central (federal) government is usurping the Constitution. This lends itself to a much broader discussion, but for brevity sake I remain focused upon the Second, and Tenth Amendment issues.

It is so typical of the “big brother” mentality to punish the masses, for the heinous crimes committed by a few despicable individuals.

The Constitution, and Bill of Rights, guarantees liberties to the people. These documents, as you know, cannot be whisked to the side by regulation or executive order. According to these documents, the Executive and Judicial branches were to have NO lawmaking powers. The question then becomes how is it “executive” orders can be enforced as if they were laws?

As such, any rule, regulation, or executive order repugnant to the constitutional rights of the citizens of this County will be ignored by this Office, nor will this office, or the citizens, allow enforcement of unconstitutional activities by federal officers.

We refuse to participate, or allow our law-abiding citizens to be criminalized through constitutionally repugnant actions by misguided intentions or politicians.

West Point center cites dangers of ‘far right’ in U.S.

VERBATIM

A West Point think tank has issued a paper warning America about “far right” groups such as the “anti-federalist” movement, which supports “civil activism, individual freedoms and self-government.”

The report issued this week by the Combating Terrorism Center at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., is titled “Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right.”
The center — part of the institution where men and women are molded into Army officers — posted the report Tuesday. It lumps limited government activists with three movements it identifies as “a racist/white supremacy movement, an anti-federalist movement and a fundamentalist movement.”
The West Point center typically focuses reports on al Qaeda and other Islamic extremists attempting to gain power in Asia, the Middle East and Africa through violence.

But its latest study turns inward and paints a broad brush of people it considers “far right.”

It says anti-federalists “espouse strong convictions regarding the federal government, believing it to be corrupt and tyrannical, with a natural tendency to intrude on individuals’ civil and constitutional rights. Finally, they support civil activism, individual freedoms, and self government. Extremists in the anti-federalist movement direct most their violence against the federal government and its proxies in law enforcement.”

The report also draws a link between the mainstream conservative movement and the violent “far right,” and describes liberals as “future oriented” and conservatives as living in the past.

“While liberal worldviews are future- or progressive -oriented, conservative perspectives are more past-oriented, and in general, are interested in preserving the status quo.” the report says. “The far right represents a more extreme version of conservatism, as its political vision is usually justified by the aspiration to restore or preserve values and practices that are part of the idealized historical heritage of the nation or ethnic community.”

The report adds: “While far-right groups’ ideology is designed to exclude minorities and foreigners, the liberal-democratic system is designed to emphasize civil rights, minority rights and the balance of power.”

The report says there were 350 “attacks initiated by far-right groups/individuals” in 2011.

Details about what makes an attack a “far right” action are not clear in the report, which was written by Arie Perliger, who directs the center’s terrorism studies and teaches social sciences at West Point.
A Republican congressional staffer who served in the military told The Washington Times: “If [the Defense Department] is looking for places to cut spending, this junk study is ground zero.

“Shouldn’t the Combating Terrorism Center be combating radical Islam around the globe instead of perpetuating the left’s myth that right-wingers are terrorists?” the staffer said. “The $64,000 dollar question is when will the Combating Terrorism Center publish their study on real left-wing terrorists like the Animal Liberation Front, Earth Liberation Front, and the Weather Underground?”
