How will History judge you?
We now officially live in a country wherein homosexuality is the moral equivalent to traditional Christian marriage.
We officially live in a country where the power to force you to spend money on products or services you may find morally repugnant is Constitutionally sound.
We officially live in a country where the best tools of personal defense are denied with Constitutional validity.
Have any of you who once challenged my argument that Judicial Review is unconstitutional changed your minds yet?
Are you ready to listen when I say the current interpretation of Article III Section I & II, based on Marbury v. Madison, is firmly entrenched in Article III Section III?
Are you ready to listen to Mister Jefferson on the topic?

Protestors Dump Sewage at Airport Ahead of Obama's South Africa Visit
Via Cousin John
Protestors in South Africa, thought to be affiliated with the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party, dumped raw sewage at the Cape Town International Airport on Tuesday. President Barack Obama is due to arrive in South Africa on Friday and will speak in Cape Town on Sunday. The protest was linked to a series of ongoing demonstration in the so-called "toilet wars" over sanitation policy in the city. It was not aimed at Obama, but took place against a backdrop of demonstrations and internal battles surrounding Obama's visit.
Local news sources report that the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu), which is technically a governing partner with the ANC, plans to "disrupt" Obama's visit to the country by staging demonstrations involving thousands of protestors. Cosatu specifically objects to Obama's foreign policy, which it describes as imperialist and militaristic.

NC: Call For HB 937 Concurrence (Gun bill)
It has come to our attention that the office of NC House Speaker Thom Tillis has told callers that GRNC "supports" removal of the pistol purchase permit repeal from House Bill 937 and the replacement of the measure with a study commission. That is a misstatement of GRNC's position.
With less than two weeks remaining in the legislative session, it became clear that Speaker Tillis, faced with Governor McCrory's acquiescence to demands by the NC Sheriffs' Assoc. to remove the purchase permit repeal, might simply kill the entire bill by bringing it to the floor and re-referring it committee, where it would languish, rather than choosing between gun owners and sheriffs.
HB 937 cannot be 'amended'
Meanwhile, input we have received suggests that gun owners are of two minds: One faction notes that the purchase permit repeal was not in the original bill, and that the substantial gains of restaurant carry, campus carry, assemblies for which admission is charged and more should not be risked for one provision we might be able to get later. Others want us to stand strong for the repeal because other aspects of the bill primarily benefit concealed handgun permit-holders more than other gun owners.
To those who have suggested we simply "amend" HB 937 to remove the purchase permit language, however, we are compelled to note that bills are not amendable on concurrence votes. The only option is for the House not to concur, in which case the bill goes to a conference committee comprising members of both chambers. Please note: Once the bill is in conference, we have no direct control over what comes out. The single and only alternative if we don't like what results would be to kill the bill in its entirety. It is for that reason GRNC has opposed sending the bill to conference.
GRNC strongly urges legislators to concur
In the position just sent to the NC House, GRNC continues to admonish legislators to vote for concurrence. Acknowledging that it is critical to keep the bill moving as the end of the session approaches, however, we also advised them that we will not track the vote on concurrence PROVIDED that the bill is not otherwise weakened in the conference committee. Although we cannot speak for other organizations, representatives of both the NRA and NCRPA have expressed support for the position.
Presuming the bill goes to a conference committee, here is what we will push for:
1. Keeping restaurant and campus carry and all other aspects in the bill;
2. Repeal or curtailment of the present purchase permit system; and
3. Inclusion of key legislators whom we can trust on the committee.
What GRNC will not accept
If, however, a weaker bill leaves the conference committee, any legislator who voted to send it to conference will be assessed as having voted against the interests of gun owners, which will be reflected in "Remember in November" candidate evaluations. This is intended to give the less resolute members of the Republican caucus "ownership" in what the committee produces.
In particular, there is one "deal killer" which may cause GRNC to oppose the bill: Shortening the duration for which purchase permits are valid, which is currently five years. Doing so would punish lawful gun owners for the malfeasance of the Sheriff's Association, which has known about and refused to address the system's flaws for decades.

Scalia Dissent: Gay Marriage Decision 'Jaw-Dropping'
In a blistering rebuke of the Supreme Court decision to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act, Justice Antonin Scalia said the self-governing power of the people has been eroded.
"Today's opinion aggrandizes the power of the court to pronounce the law," Scalia wrote in the dissenting opinion. It will have the predictable consequence of diminishing the "power of our people to govern themselves," wrote Scalia, who was joined in his dissent by Justices Clarence Thomas and Chief Justice John Roberts, while Justice Samuel Alito wrote a separate dissenting opinion.
Scalia described the "assertion of judicial supremacy over the people’s representatives in Congress and the executive" as "jaw-dropping."
"It envisions a Supreme Court standing (or rather enthroned) at the apex of government, empowered to decide all constitutional questions, always and everywhere 'primary' in its role," said Scalia. "This image of the court would have been unrecognizable to those who wrote and ratified our national charter."
Scalia had particular disdain for fellow Justice Anthony Kennedy's ruling in the 5-4 case, saying it opened the door for a federal law allowing same-sex marriages.

U.S. Supreme Court Decisions on Same-Sex Marriage Signal Renewed Challenges to Religious Liberty
Liberty Institute responded to numerous national media requests for our reaction to this week’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling in two cases that concern same-sex marriage. Our attorneys told each reporter and interviewer that a slim majority of the Court got it wrong in both cases.
- The Court got it wrong in striking down Section 3 of DOMA, the federal Defense of Marriage Act.
Section 3 defined marriage as between one man and one woman for the
purpose of federal law. The Court ruled that it violates the
Constitution’s equal protection clause to deny federal spousal benefits
(Social Security, favorable tax status, etc.) to same sex spouses living
in the 12 states and the District of Columbia where same sex marriage
is legal.
On the day the decision was handed down, opponents of DOMA celebrated, chanting, “DOMA is dead.” But DOMA is not dead. Section 2 protects states from being forced to recognize the same sex marriages of couples from other states. That part of DOMA still stands. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in his dissent that the ruling does not address a broader right to marriage. That issue was not before the Court. - The Court got it wrong in the case challenging California’s Proposition 8, defining marriage as the union between one man and one woman. California’s governor and attorney general refused to stand up for the will of the people and defend that law when it was challenged. So the citizen groups, who worked hard to get the law on the ballot and to ensure its passage, stepped in. The Supreme Court said this coalition did not have standing to do so. Therefore the district court’s decision striking down Prop. 8 stands. This is a defeat for democracy because California citizens were denied recourse to defend the law they passed.

Marco Rubio a ‘Piece of Garbage’ Who Is Falling Into Washington ‘Power Structure’

Traitors.
Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) has begun
to upset of a number of influential figures on the right due to his work
on immigration reform with the “Gang of Eight.”
After Rubio spoke out
in defense of his actions yesterday — which some on the right have said
would lead to the creation of a “special class” of former illegal
aliens who are exempt from certain laws and penalties — Glenn Beck responded on radio by calling Rubio a “piece of garbage” who is being sucked into the Washington establishment.
“He’s not trying to do the right thing,” Beck said with a snort. “He’s falling into the power structure.”

Immigration reform bill passes in Senate
The Senate has passed historic immigration legislation offering the hope of American citizenship to millions, while promising a military-style surge to secure the border.
The vote was 68-32, eight more than needed to send the measure to the House. Prospects there are not nearly as good and many conservatives are opposed.

Firearm Detected! You cannot print this gun.
Roundabout via WiscoDave
Oh, great. A Danish 3D printer company, Create it REAL, wants to take away the freedom that 3D printers give us: the ability to create whatever we want for our own personal use. I figured the government would be the first to somehow monitor if we were using a 3D printer to make a gun, but here’s a 3D printer company bragging about the ability to censor what’s printed.
In a press release, the company said that they have developed “smart software” that will be able to detect if the model has the characteristics of a firearm. If it does, it will not print. I don’t know if that includes squirt guns.
I don’t even have the energy to comment on yet another group of people freaking out about 3D printing guns, except to say this: hurray for people in countries with strict gun control laws to finally have a chance to be able to get a hold of a gun so they can protect themselves in their own homes, and against potentially tyrannical governments (if you haven’t noticed they are on the rise). The criminals have guns, the governments have guns, so good for any otherwise law-abiding citizen being able to arm themselves as well.
Next up, background checks and 10-day waiting periods before buying a 3D printer.

Create It Real sells 3D printers, software and electronic platform.
According to Jeremie Pierre Gay, CEO of the company, this add-on can
quickly recognizes digital gun part models, and then a deeper inspection
will be made for avoiding false "alarm". And they have so far added the
data for the 3D printable gun Liberator and DefDist's AR-15 lower receiver. More parts will be added to the database in the future.
The company is working on bring this software to the market.
Still, there are some issues. Technically it would be difficult to
recognize all the gun parts. A software can prevent printing of a hollow
cylinder of a certain size, a firing pin, or a certain type of spring,
but no way it can detect those small parts commonly used in every
device.
Secondly the government may regulate 3D printed guns by
insisting 3D printer manufacturers install such kind of software. It
would be pretty difficult for a small company trying to regulate 3D
printed guns by selling software or solutions to 3D printer
manufacturers, while a lot of them use only open source software. And,
will consumers purchase a 3D printer with anti-gun-parts software
installed, which says "Firearm detect! You cannot print this model" once
for a while? It is getting too complex.

The Life of Julia, Amnesty Applicant
In May 2012, the Obama re-election campaign released a slideshow titled, "The Life of Julia" which promoted the idea that government programs and President Obama's agenda items were critical to the success of a hypothetical female named Julia. The campaign effort received a lot of criticism from both conservatives and liberals and led to many parodies. The original version was quickly taken down after the election.
We created a new version that asks one question: What would the Schumer-Rubio amnesty bill look like from the perspective of an illegal alien named Julia?

George Zimmerman Witness Can't Read Letter She 'Wrote' About Shooting
Via Ryan
A teenage friend of Trayvon Martin was forced to admit today in the George Zimmerman murder trial that she did not write a letter that was sent to Martin's mother describing what she allegedly heard on a phone call with Martin moments before he was shot.
In a painfully embarassing moment, Rachel Jeantel was asked to read the letter out loud in court.
"Are you able to read that at all?" defense attorney Don West asked.
Jeantel, head bowed, eyes averted whispered into the court microphone, "Some but not all. I don't read cursive."
It sent a hush through the packed courtroom.

Border security is necessary, but won't fix the problem
40 Percent or more of illegal immigrants did not sneak across the border. They get a legal visa--very easy-- and then split to a better job or whatever, becoming illegal. Besides tourist visas, just look at this:
Internal Enforcement at the employer level is absolutely necessary to fix the immigration problem.
Drama vs. Demographics in the S.744 Debate
I have been both fascinated with, and appalled by, the over-emphasis on border security in the current debates about the legalization of some 11 million illegal aliens.
It is as if the minds of Congress have slipped into reverse historical gear, and are dealing with the high drama of the wars between the U.S. Cavalry and the Indians on the western frontier during the 1800s.
Instead of voting for more horses and for more men for the U.S. Army, as it once did, Capitol Hill now votes for more drones and more Border Patrol Agents (not that the latter are not needed), thus focusing hard on the drama of the border. (In the process they all but ignore the 40 percent of the illegal alien population made up of visa overstayers.)

Boehner: "We are not going to take up the Senate bill"
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has set up the final procedural hurdle to clear the immigration reform bill for votes Thursday and Friday.
The Senate will vote around noon Thursday to invoke cloture or cut off debate on the entire bill.
The White House-backed bill would pour billions into border security and offer a path to citizenship to some 11 million immigrants now in the United States illegally.
The bill already has sidestepped several procedural obstacles with votes to spare, demonstrating it commands well over the 60 votes needed to pass the Senate.

NC: Mecklenburg County commissioner Kim Ratliff under fire for racial statements

A Mecklenburg County commissioner is under fire for making statements with racial overtones that have some people calling for removal – or at least a reprimand.
This time, it’s not Bill James, the longtime Republican commissioner who’s been known to utter divisive remarks.
It’s Kim Ratliff, the board’s Democratic vice chairwoman, who told WBTV that she’d prefer commissioners not choose a “white male” to be the next county manager.
In the first story, aired Friday, Ratliff, who is black, said the county needs a manager who is “a nonwhite male who can have good working relations with all people.”
