One week ago I left Hong Kong after it became clear that my freedom and safety were under threat for revealing the truth. My continued liberty has been owed to the efforts of friends new and old, family, and others who I have never met and probably never will. I trusted them with my life and they returned that trust with a faith in me for which I will always be thankful.

On Thursday, President Obama declared before the world that he would not permit any diplomatic "wheeling and dealing" over my case. Yet now it is being reported that after promising not to do so, the President ordered his Vice President to pressure the leaders of nations from which I have requested protection to deny my asylum petitions.

This kind of deception from a world leader is not justice, and neither is the extralegal penalty of exile. These are the old, bad tools of political aggression. Their purpose is to frighten, not me, but those who would come after me.

For decades the United States of America has been one of the strongest defenders of the human right to seek asylum. Sadly, this right, laid out and voted for by the U.S. in Article 14 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is now being rejected by the current government of my country. The Obama administration has now adopted the strategy of using citizenship as a weapon. Although I am convicted of nothing, it has unilaterally revoked my passport, leaving me a stateless person. Without any judicial order, the administration now seeks to stop me exercising a basic right. A right that belongs to everybody. The right to seek asylum.

In the end the Obama administration is not afraid of whistleblowers like me, Bradley Manning or Thomas Drake. We are stateless, imprisoned, or powerless. No, the Obama administration is afraid of you. It is afraid of an informed, angry public demanding the constitutional government it was promised — and it should be.

I am unbowed in my convictions and impressed at the efforts taken by so many.

Snowden - Perhaps, that low-level agent could also get copies of the president's long-sealed personal records? Birth certificate, passport records, police records, college records, medical records, check stubs to Bill Ayres for "ghostwriting services?" The mind boggles - but it would sure help explain why Barry is suddenly so interested in every issue other than this one.

First-time gun buyers spent an average of $515 for their first gun and nearly as much as for accessories ($504). Nearly a quarter of first-time buyers bought at least one more firearm within the first year after their first purchase spending more, on average, on the later purchase.

South Africa - If Malema comes to power and he succeeds in following the example set by Mugabe's Zimbabwe, don't spare South Africa an ounce of sympathy once his goal is achieved as people who are absolutely every bit as civilized as everyone else on the planet mysteriously turn out to be unable to maintain an existing agricultural system capable of feeding the country for inexplicable reasons that no rational mind could possibly discern.

On the one hand, Hillary is running for president based on her work as Secretary of State. And on the other, she's not responsible for anything that happened while she occupied that position because she was really powerless. There's a cynical posturing victimhood underlying all this. It's always someone else's fault. Hillary tried her best, but they just weren't ready to let her do the job.

The new world order is a place where men are discriminated against, forced into a hostile environment in school and later in college, and held in contempt by society. Maybe there is no incentive to grow up anymore. It used to be that being a grown-up, responsible man was rewarded with respect, power and deference.

FBI Document—“[DELETED]” Plots To Kill Occupy Leaders “If Deemed Necessary”

Would you be shocked to learn that the FBI apparently knew that some organization, perhaps even a law enforcement agency or private security outfit, had contingency plans to assassinate peaceful protestors in a major American city — and did nothing to intervene?

Would you be surprised to learn that this intelligence comes not from a shadowy whistle-blower but from the FBI itself – specifically, from a document obtained from Houston FBI office last December, as part of a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by the Washington, DC-based Partnership for Civil Justice Fund?

To repeat: this comes from the FBI itself. The question, then, is: What did the FBI do about it?

Prison Diary of Raphael Semmes

Arrested by Secretary of the Navy Gideon Welles in November 1865, Rear-Admiral Semmes of the Alabama was simply charged with not surrendering himself to his enemy after his ship was disabled, though the latter had left him to drown.  Semmes was rescued from the sea by the English yacht Deerhound, taken to England, and eventually made his way back to Richmond to serve the American Confederacy once again.

Prison Diary of Raphael Semmes

“At the close of the Civil War many of the Confederate leaders were arrested and imprisoned. [Returning to the CSA after losing the Alabama and made a brigadier-general at Danville, Rear Admiral Semmes] was subsequently paroled under the terms of the Johnston-Sherman convention of April 26, 1865.

Diary:  On the 15th of December, 1865, whilst sitting with my family, a lieutenant of marines and two sergeants entered my house, having first surrounded it by a guard of some 20 men, and presented me with an order for my arrest from the Secretary of the Navy . . . dated 25 November 1865.

[27 December]: Reached our dock [at New York . . . Breakfasted with [General Jubal] Early on the morning of the 28th.

[28 December]:  Taken to headquarters of colonel of marines and thence to the navy yard, where I was put in close confinement in the dispensary . . .

[4 January]: Judge [James] Hughes has had an interview with the President in my case. My arrest was by a cabal of the cabinet, unknown to the President.

Tuesday, 16 [January]: The ground is covered with snow this morning . . .The unfinished Washington monument, speaking of the ingratitude of the nation is seen nearly in the same direction with Lee’s mansion and the dome of the capitol, and the latter flaunts the flag, the old flag made new by the war, which daily covers in their deliberations the faction of the Rump Congress which daily and hourly proclaims the Southern States to be conquered provinces and refuses admission to her representatives.

My newspaper is brought in with my breakfast. It is the National Intelligencer!  But how changed from the days of Clay and Calhoun!  I read in it sometimes such a paragraph as this: “Trial of Raphael Semmes. (It does not even call me the late admiral, or the so-called admiral, or the so-called late admiral of the so-called late Confederate States), “late commander of the rebel steamer Alabama, it is generally believed, will take place very shortly.

I do not think I will be speedily tried.  This would not be in accordance with the Bastille system imported from a by-gone age and the French Revolution . . . Nor do I think that I shall be tried at all, as the Government has no case and can make none, though it is even now scouring the “mappings” of Northern commercial cities for evidence against the pirate.  N’importe. I shall be punished.

[Friday, 26 January]:  The Yankees have are getting the people by the gills; they have passed the bill enlarging the functions of the Freedmen’s Bureau. Silly people!  They fancy that they are governing themselves.

[Saturday, 3 March]:  [Pendleton] Colston came over to-day.  Saw the Secretary of the Navy [Gideon Welles] . . . Mr. Welles admitted that I had been confined too long, but that it had not been his fault. He regretted, he said, that I had returned to the country; a good deal of trouble might have been saved if I had not done so!  Humane man!”

Vietnam prisoners turned to God, not Darwin

AL
VERBATIM

I heard the testimony of a pilot who spent five years in a North Vietnamese prison camp in a cell that was 6.5 feet by 7 feet.

He shared the cell with three other men.

This small space served as their bathroom, bedroom and kitchen for all of them.

They were fed twice a day, pumpkin soup and what they called sewage green soup. They were constantly hungry and were tortured on a regular basis.

One of his cellmates was a tough self-sufficient officer who had been inside a church maybe once in his life.

He came to this young pilot and started asking him questions about the Bible.

He wanted to know all about God, and all the stories in the Bible.

The men began to memorize Bible verses and tap them in code throughout the camp.

Nobody asked anything about Charles Darwin and the free thinkers.

"I will lift my eyes to the hills-
From whence cometh my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth."

Ironically, Charles Darwin is buried at Westminster Abby amongst the saints and martyrs of God.
You would have thought his family would have buried this free thinker in the Galapagos amongst the turtles and iguanas.

Maybe they knew something Charles didn't.

The Religion of Peace: Teenage girl’s murder mystery solved

Via Freedom Outpost

http://www.alternativenews.org/english/images/stories/news/2012/November_2012/honour_killing.jpg

The investigation into the murder of a young girl at the Air Force Complex, E-9, took a stunning turn when the victim’s younger brother alleged that their father was the killer. According to him, his father threw the dead body from the apartment and later lodged an FIR with the Margalla Police Station against the unidentified assailants.

Musarrat Ahmad, 16, was found dead with multiple wounds in different parts of her body and a broken arm near her apartment.

The Air Force official allegedly tortured his teenage daughter to death over the ‘honour issue’, beating her with an iron rod and a cricket bat and kept hitting her head, stomach and back till her death, the investigators, quoting his confessional statement, told ‘The News’.

On June 5, 2013, Ahmad Yar, assistant warrant officer of Pakistan Air Force, a resident of Block A-62/5, PAF Colony, E-9, Islamabad, lodged a complaint with the Margalla Police Station, saying that his wife left for her village Lalian (Chiniot) with his younger daughter a few days before the occurrence. He said that his daughter Musarrat Ahmad, 16, went missing on the night of June 4. He said that he searched her along with his two sons — Mohammad Asad, 14, and Asfandyar, 12.

According to him, he was informed by the PAF guard deputed at the main gate at 10:20 p.m. that his daughter had entered alone into the premises of the PAF Complex from the main gate, but she didn’t reach home till the next morning and found dead near Block 23-J.

HSLDA Action Alert:

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,

Yesterday, The Hill reported that the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) will be resurrected. The Hill is correct about this. But we do not know when it will be brought back up for consideration in the U.S. Senate. We have heard that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee may hold hearings next week, or later in July, or sometime in September.

Your calls to senators after we heard that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee was planning a June 4 hearing on the treaty resulted in the hearing being postponed. The longer the treaty is delayed, the more we are able to expose the dangers it poses to parental rights, homeschool freedom, and our nation’s sovereignty. This treaty would restrict the ability of the U.S. to adopt policies that protect people with disabilities because it surrenders this right to unaccountable (and many times corrupt) bureaucrats at the United Nations. (On a related note, you may be interested in reading about the furor that surrounded a recent UN honor to Robert Mugabe.)

Action Requested

The U.S. Senate is on recess this week in honor of Independence Day. We urge you to take your friends and family and visit your senators at their district offices. Please also call their Washington, D.C. offices and give them this simple message:
“I urge you to oppose the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This treaty surrenders U.S. sovereignty to unelected UN bureaucrats and will threaten parental care of children with disabilities. Our nation already has laws to protect Americans with disabilities. This treaty is unnecessary and will hurt families by giving bureaucrats the power to decide what is in the best interests of a child with disabilities, not the child’s parents.”
Call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121. To find the specific phone numbers, district offices, or webpages for your two U.S. senators (their personal webpages will include the full list of their district offices) please visit HSLDA’s Legislative Toolbox and select your state. To find out more about the CRPD or print out materials for your visit with your senators, please click here. To read the text of the CRPD, please click here.

It is likely that the staff who answer the phones or who meet with you will tell you that they haven’t heard about the treaty coming back. Politely tell them that while you know there is no scheduled hearing date, you want to make sure that if and when the treaty is brought back your senators know that citizens across this nation staunchly oppose ceding any authority to the United Nations.
Thank you for joining us in this battle to protect our children and our children’s future. You defeated this treaty last year. Standing together, we can defeat this treaty once again.

For liberty,

Mike Smith
HSLDA President

Riots: Ain't Nobody Gonna Like It

http://www.humanevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/58852252.jpg

Watching the Zimmerman trial, I wonder whether we may not be in for big trouble. Racial hostility is much higher in the United States than it is allowed to appear. In the Twittersphere there is much traffic from blacks, saying that if Zimmerman walks, they will kill him themselves, riot, or kill random whites. On many sites around the web, whites of a sort not found on NPR are saying, “Bring it on.” This is not your granny’s recipe for domestic tranquility.

Let’s not kid ourselves. Race underlies almost everything in this country that spends half its time denouncing racism. This is true of trials, and particularly true of show trials. When the police who beat Rodney King, were acquitted by a white jury, the cops being clearly guilty, blacks burned Los Angeles. When OJ Simpson, clearly guilty, was acquitted by a black jury, whites didn’t burn anything, but were angry and perfectly aware that the verdict was political.

The prosecution’s case against Zimmerman is so weak that unless the fix is in, he will walk. Katie, bar the door.

How did we get here? It’s a long story.

An important part of the world view of blacks is the belief that whites enslaved them. This makes sense if you believe a race is a coherent being with a life stretching over the centuries, as a man’s life stretches over decades. (Compare The Jews Killed Christ. “Gosh, Rachel. You don’t look old enough. You sure you did it?”)

It makes no sense to whites who reflect that no white in America has ever owned a slave, and no black has ever been one. Blacks know this, but it is hard to focus anger on things done by dead whites long before you were born.

Blacks know, correctly if in most cases vaguely, that Negroes, as they were then known, were indeed brought in chains to America. Whites today weary of hearing about slavery since they had nothing to do with it, but it happened and it was ugly. The ensuing slavery was no better. Slaves were in fact whipped, raped, tortured, and kept illiterate, as anyone knows who has actually investigated. (If you want an introduction to slavery as it actually was, read Journal of a Residence on a Georgian Plantation - 1838-1839. (The owner was a Yankee. BT)

Lynchings occurred, many, many of them, and they were hideous. (27.4% Of Lynchings Were White. BT) Blacks know this. Further, Jim Crow abides held in living memory. So blacks have a case.

Loss of 19 firefighters in state's deadliest blaze 'unbearable,' governor says

They were part of an elite squad confronting wildfires on the front line, setting up barriers to stop the spreading destruction. But in their unpredictable world, it doesn't take much to turn a situation deadly.

In this case, a wind shift and other factors caused a central Arizona fire, which now spans almost 9,000 acres, to become erratic, said Mike Reichling, Arizona State Forestry Division spokesman.

The inferno proved too much, even for the shelters the 19 firefighters carried as a last-ditch survival tool.

"The fuels were very dry, the relative humidity was low, the wind was coming out of the south. It turned around on us because of monsoon action," Reichling told CNN affiliate KNXV. "That's what caused the deaths.

The firefighters were killed Sunday while fighting the Yarnell Hill fire, northwest of Phoenix.

To the men of Liberty:

For most of my life I have thought that fields of war are the most tragic things in life.  Thousands of men dead and dying, whole men torn to pieces, life's blood adding colors to a landscape once beautiful.

But I never knew what it looked like when a nation died.  I had never conceived of it in the case of America, and so could not know the heart ache and disappointment.  When I was born the republic was still on the rise, and though the Yankees had done their damndest to crush the spirit of Liberty when they occupied the South,  they had failed.  Liberty was blossoming not only in the South, but the plains states, and even unto California.

There is no question the field had shifted in America, but for the most part, people still believed in God, not in government.  But with every new "bene,"  every new bribe another America was seduced to materialism and away from God.  Slowly at first, but then in bigger chunks the powers of the states were assumed by the federal government.  The states lost control of the Guard, lost control of welfare policies, lost control of their lands.   The creation of the U.S. Department of Education should be seen as a landmark in the decline of the states as independent partners in the union.

I am writing this letter in an attempt to make those in the "history and heritage" preservation organizations, and those who reenact understand that the battle is at hand.  It is not in the past, it is not on battlefields we know, but on battlefields of today and now.

I am writing to advise you that some of us are working to create a new political party, one to replace the Republicans.  Fittingly we are presently calling it the Dixiecrat party.  To find it on the internet go to  https://www.facebook.com/NewDixiecratParty.

As it says on the page, our party is not a purely Southern party, many Heartland states are more like those of the old South than say much of Florida and Virginia.  Our party's foundations are clear and easily identified; Belief in a Christian God and the Bible, belief in the original Constitution and the republic form of national governance, opposition to the New World order, belief in national capitalism, but not open borders to cheap foreign goods.

It is my belief that southern heritage organizations like the SCV have been infiltrated by social liberals who know that the Charge of the SCV is anathema to every thing going on in America today.  It is my belief that if you read and support the Confederate Constitution just about every federal program in existence today is contrary to it, and to the original Constitution.  It is my belief that threats of "they will take our not for profit tax status away" combined with pointing to the corrupted organizational constitution has pretty much made the SCV impotent in "defending heritage and history."  The SCV has become nothing more than a big reenactor group, and southern tea party get together.

The SCV is NOT vindicating the Cause.

The fight for the very life of liberty is at hand.

The Cause is more important now, more precious now, more needed now than in any time in the nation's brief history.  It can't be a Cause clothed in slavery or racism.  It has to be a Cause clothed in Christ.  The Southern Cause was, in most respects, the best that God has offered man.  It deserves to be actuated, lived now, not preserved like a fruit in jar in a pantry.  For me the Confederate battle flag is not a beautiful symbol of some bygone day, but the colors I am most proudest of right now for today.

For those of you who are the liberal infestations, the grannies, talk bad about me all you want.  I am not the issue, the issue is the future of liberty and the Cause.

God Bless the South,
Mark Vogl, Black sheep

NC: EXCLUSIVE: Public university unfairly raising grades of black students, say three former faculty members

Via WiscoDave

School administrators at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) are systematically raising the final grades of African-American students, three ex-faculty members told Campus Reform last month.

Former Director of Academic Technology Shira Hedgepeth, along with two former professors who spoke to Campus Reform on the condition of anonymity, alleged administrators at the historically black college routinely increase the final grades of African-American students in order to raise the school’s standing.

“Some students had their final grades changed based on their race,” Hedgepeth told Campus Reform on June 6. “That was a common complaint of many of the faculty that I worked with.”

“None of the Caucasian or non-African American students… none of their grades were changed,” she added. “The way the grades fell out, there was no other reason for changing.”

Egypt Opposition Blames U.S. for Supporting Morsi Regime

An Egyptian opposition group accused the US of "being partner to a conspiracy to keep President Mohamed Morsi in power."

Obama addressed the situation in Egypt on Saturday explaining "The United States supported democracy in Egypt. It’s been challenging given there has not been a tradition of democracy in Egypt." he said. "Our most immediate concerns have to do with our embassies and consulates."

In June, the Secretary of State John Kerry quietly gave $1.3 billion in military aid to Egypt. The money was given a month after a memo admitted "we are not satisfied with the extent of Egypt's progress and are pressing for a more inclusive democratic process and the strengthening of key democratic institutions."

The opposition is furious. "America and the Brotherhood have united to bring down the Egyptian people," said Hassan Shahin, a member of the Tamarod, or "rebel," movement.

During an international conference on women and religion, Carter’s examples of religious authorities continuing doctrines of male superiority included the Catholic Church’s practice of banning women from the priesthood and some African cultures’ mutilation of the genitalia of young girls.

Public Approval of Supreme Court Falls to All-Time Low

 http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j186/DonaldDouglas/American/supreme-court-gay-marriage-detail_zpsa133a597.jpg

The U.S. Supreme Court finished its term with big decisions on voting rights, affirmative action and same-sex marriage. Following those rulings, public approval of the court has fallen to the lowest level ever recorded in more than nine years of polling.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 28% believe the Supreme Court is doing a good or an excellent job. At the same time, 30% rate its performance as poor. That’s the highest-ever poor rating. It’s also the first time ever that the poor ratings have topped the positive assessments. Thirty-nine percent (39%) give the court middling reviews and rate its performance as fair. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

I have an account that is not associated with iOTW or BFH.

I was on a thread that was about Jabba the Pizza Hut, you know, the articulate Black English patient that testified at the Trayvon Martin trial, and I was sparring with a few people who agreed with the Jabba that “cracker” wasn’t offensive.

My point, which they didn’t seem to grasp, was that it is not up to her to decide what is offensive, especially when she is using it as an epithet. We know she was using it offensively because in her testimony she admitted to omitting the “cracker” part when she spoke to Trayvon’s mother because she felt uneasy telling her that that’s what Trayvon said. So, obviously, “cracker” is not endearing.
This didn’t matter to these brilliant debaters. They simply kept saying that it wasn’t offensive if she said it wasn’t. So, being the sarcastic person I am, I called them niggers and told them not to worry because I didn’t believe the word to be offensive.

Sting video: ‘just sit on the toilet’ if baby comes, abortion worker tells 27-week pregnant mom

Via WiscoDave

As Dave said "Sick, just sick - can't really find the words."

An abortion worker at a notorious late-term abortion facility in New Mexico tells a 27-week-pregnant mom to “just sit on the toilet” in her hotel room, and not to look down, if she should feel the urge to pass the body of her baby during the multi-day abortion procedure in the latest undercover sting video released by the pro-life group Live Action.

“If we can't catch it [delivery of the dead baby – the final stage of the abortion procedure] early enough, which has happened...then you'll want to unlock the door to the hotel room, get your cell phone, and just sit on the toilet,” the unnamed counselor at Southwestern Women's Options in Albuquerque, New Mexico tells an undercover investigator with Live Action. “You don't have to look at anything...you can stay on the phone with us until the doctor and nurse get there.”

Hospital reports Dutch journalist underwent gang rape in Cairo square several days ago. Reporter released from hospital after undergoing surgery

Egyptian media reported Sunday that a Dutch journalist was raped by several men in Cairo's Tahrir Square a few days ago.

Dina Zakaria, a journalist reporting for the "Egypt 25" news channel affiliated with the January 25 revolution, shared the incident on her Facebook page Sunday: "A Dutch journalist in Tahrir was raped by men who dub themselves revolutionists. Her condition is severe and she is hospitalized."

Meanwhile, a state hospital issued a statement that the journalist was admitted after being raped by five men several days ago. She underwent surgery and has been released. It was also reported that Egypt's Prosecutor General Talaat Abdallah ordered his staff to go to the hospital to hear the woman's story and reveal the circumstances behind the violent attack.

My daughter Virginia on Obamacare

 http://shiftfrequency.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/cartoon_obamacare_pixie.jpg

I thought I'd tell you how RIDICULOUS Obama and the health care system is. When I made my appointment for the MRI, I asked how much it would be as I have a PPO and I pay a 60/40 after my deductible is met. They told me they bill out insurance at $1,800 but if I choose to pay cash then it was $300. I made them repeat it 3 times as I was in disbelief. How can I have insurance and it cost me more? I was on the phone for about 2 hours with the insurance and getting nowhere when I decided I was just going to pay cash. I felt it was safer bet. I was specifically told that the insurance company will NOT allow me to count this towards my deductible. CRAZY.

Well it gets better. Friday I come home saying that the MRI that was requested was DENIED as it was deemed "medically unnecessary" ARE they kidding? SO now, in my free time I'm going to send them my report that clearly shows abnormal and demand they at least include it in my deductible. I also had a MR angioplasty upon the neurologist request so now I fear that's not going to be covered. He did this to rule out blockage from blood vessels, which came back clear. And they expect US to pay for all the people on Welfare to get free insurance?

Day of Infamy: “Bartering Our Freedom for Gain”

http://crooksandliars.com/files/uploads/2007/07/mtp-todd-florida.jpg

Mike Scruggs

Thursday, June 27, 2013, may be remembered as a day of infamy by Americans who have fought to preserve their country’s heritage as a nation governed by law. On that day, 68 of 100 United States Senators turned their backs on law and the American people by passing an immigration bill that put the will of big-business, cheap-labor lobbyists ahead of the will, rights, and prosperity of the American people. Senate bill S.744, sometimes referred to as the Schumer-Rubio or Gang-of-Eight amnesty, not only would give amnesty to more than 11 million illegal immigrants but would also authorize corporate lobbyists to bring in another 33 to 34 million permanent foreign workers over the next ten years. In addition, the annual authorization for temporary guest workers would be nearly doubled from the current level of approximately 800,000.

When 21 million Americans want a full-time job but cannot find one, 68 of 100 senators voted to flood the job market with a new wave of cheap foreign labor. Never let any of these 68 senators get away with the lie that they care about American jobs again. They do not care about jobs!  They care about filling their campaign chests with loads of special interest money to buy TV and radio ads in their re-election campaigns. They want to be seen as compassionate to 11 million illegal immigrants in the liberal dominated national media. But where is their responsibility to and compassion for 142 million American workers?

The Heritage Foundation has estimated that the Schumer-Rubio amnesty alone will add $6.3 Trillion over the long run to the already huge U.S debt of $16.5 Trillion. Senate bill S.744 was deliberately structured to hide its enormous costs. That is why newly amnestied immigrants will be given a new Registered Provisional Immigrant (PRI) Status immediately but not made permanent legal residents with a path to citizenship for ten years in most cases. This was so the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report, which may only include the first ten years of costs, would not reflect the enormous cost of amnesty. Senator Sessions (R, AL), one of the fiercest opponents of Schumer-Rubio’s outrage against American workers and taxpayers, was unfortunately not successful in getting the CBO to change its policy. However, even the CBO report states that the immediate effect of Schumer-Rubio will be higher unemployment, higher taxes, and higher interest rates. As Senator Shelby, also a Republican Senator from Alabama remarked, “That alone ought to be enough to kill this bill.”

Unfortunately, no degree of harm to American workers or gargantuan fiscal irresponsibility was enough to deter 68 senators from the temptation of special interest money, legislative log-rolling, (I’ll help roll your log, if you help roll mine.), and fawning liberal media favor. Never let any of these 68 senators get away with the lie that they care a whit about budgets and fiscal responsibility. They have proved themselves unworthy of any public fiscal responsibility.

Perhaps the most egregious amendment added to Schumer-Rubio was a fig-leaf enforcement amendment offered by Bob Corker (R, TN) and John Hoeven (R, ND). The so-called enforcement amendment was an obvious attempt to give cover to Republican senators who wanted to vote for amnesty and open-door immigration but not look bad to their conservative constituents. The amendment actually authorizes amnesty for future illegal immigrants, legitimizing lawless open-door immigration concepts.  Red State online conservative news called Corker, Hoeven, and those Republicans who voted for it, the “Wimp Brigade.” Senator Corker has now admitted that Schumer-Rubio is very unpopular in Tennessee. However, had it not been for this little-read phony enforcement amendment, Schumer-Rubio might have been defeated.

The vote for Schumer-Rubio included all 53 Democrats, independent socialist Bernie Sanders, and 14 now infamous Republican members of the Gang-of-Eight or Wimp Brigade. Sanders at least condemned the bill’s devastating impact on American workers, but apparently succumbed to some Schumer log-rolling offer on the final vote. Thirty-two Republicans voted against it. Whether or not the 14 Republican yes voters can be classified as wimps, analytically challenged, or just corrupt remains to be seen, but the largest American Tea Party group, the Tea Party Patriots has vowed to get all 14 out of office. Here are the 14 Schumer-Republican Senators who voted for it.

Alexander, TN
Ayotte, NH
Ciesa, NJ (appointed by Gov. Christie)
Collins ME
Corker TN
Flake AZ G8 (Gang-of-8)
Graham SC G8
Hatch UT
Heller NV
Hoeven ND
Kirk IL
McCain AZ G8
Murkowski AK
Rubio FL G8, Chief Republican S.744 sponsor

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Prebus, in my opinion, has a disastrous misunderstanding of the facts, demographics, and economics of the immigration issue as it pertains to a winning Republican electoral strategy and can take some blame for the witless vote of several Wimp Brigade converts.

Here are a few verses of poetry and song protesting the corruption leading to the betrayal of Scotland during the 1707 negotiations for the Treaty of Union between Scotland and England. Scottish performer Dick Gaughan changed a few words, and it has since appeared in the albums of several Scottish groups and vocalists. It seems extraordinarily appropriate to the Schumer-Rubio betrayal of the American people.

“What's the spring-breathing jasmine and rose?
What's the summer with all its gay train,
Or the splendour of autumn to those,
Who've bartered their freedom for gain?”

Immigration matters are now in the hands of the U.S House. Republicans have a majority of 233 of 435 seats there and have proved more conservative and courageous than the Senate in the past. I hope the Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner (OH), and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (VA) realize that the credibility and future of the Republican Party and the nation’s continued freedom and prosperity now rest in a rejection of amnesty and open-door immigration in the U.S. House.

Snowden 'Marooned' in Russia, Ecuador Backs Off Asylum Offer

NSA leaker Edward Snowden's fate seemed to grow more dire Sunday as the president of one country offering him asylum seemed to back away from the offer while the nation currently hosting him won't let him leave the airport.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange acknowledged Sunday that Snowden appears to be "marooned in Russia." The president of Ecuador -- Rafael Correa -- said that the Ecuadoran documents originally issued to Snowden were a mistake and that Snowden is ultimately Russia's problem.

"He doesn't have a passport. I don't know the Russian laws, I don't know if he can leave the airport, but I understand that he can't," Correa told The Associated Press. "At this moment he's under the care of the Russian authorities."

Despite Russia's repeated claims that Snowden is not technically in their territory, Correa said "this is the decision of Russian authorities."

Snowden is said to be in the transit zone of the Moscow airport. He has a standing request for asylum with Ecuador, and Correa said that if he arrives at an Ecuadorean embassy, the country will analyze that request.

But Ecuador reportedly revoked refugee documents that potentially could have been used to get Snowden to South America.

Does the South Belong in the Union?
 Hell no!

Is the Second Reconstruction over?

The first ended with the withdrawal of Union troops from the Southern states as part of a deal that gave Rutherford B. Hayes the presidency after the disputed election of 1876.

The second began with the Voting Rights Act of 1965, a century after Appomattox. Under the VRA, Southern states seeking to make even minor changes in voting laws had to come to Washington to plead their case before the Justice Department and such lions of the law as Eric Holder.

Southern states were required to get this pre-clearance for any alterations in voting laws because of systematic violations of the 14th and 15th amendment constitutional rights of black Americans to equal access to polling places and voting booths.

The South had discriminated by using poll taxes, gerrymandering and literacy tests, among other tactics. Dixie was in the penalty box because it had earned a place there.

What the Supreme Court did Tuesday, in letting the South out of the box, is to declare that, as this is not 1965, you cannot use abuses that date to 1965, but have long since disappeared, to justify indefinite federal discrimination against the American South.

You cannot impose burdens on Southern states, five of which recorded higher voting percentages among their black populations in 2012 than among their white populations, based on practices of 50 years ago that were repudiated and abandoned in another era.
