Bracken responds to a SEAL gun grabber: Molon Labe, sellout. Come and take them!

 Enemies Foreign and Domestic (trilogy)

Via Resister In The Rockies

& check out the comments on this useful fool's (Gabriel Gomez's) Facebook link.

Gabriel Gomez is a former candidate for U.S. Senator of Massachusetts. He is a former Navy SEAL (credentials here) but despite his Oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, he has some qualms about protecting the 2nd Amendment in it's entirety, as can be read in his article he wrote for the Boston Globe.

"Based on everything I have learned, seen and heard from the citizens of this Commonwealth, I can no longer support legislation that would allow the continued sale of assault weapons and high capacity magazines..." - Gabriel Gomez

"To the professional political critics, I simply offer this: volunteer for the Navy or for the other armed services, successfully go through SEAL or other special forces training. Then you will be fully qualified and prepared to fire as many assault weapons with unlimited high capacity magazines as you desire. " - Gabriel Gomez

I just posted this on Gabby Gomez' FB page.

I graduated from BUD/S Class 105 in 1979 as an officer, and took a NavSpecWar platoon to Beirut in 1983. I mention it only as my bona fides to address you. I am extremely disappointed that a former SEAL officer has apparently sold out for perceived political gain. (And please, don't tell any former SEALs that your wife changed your mind about firearms and the Constitution!)

As two men with similar training and experience with firearms, we both know very well that in the ultimate test, the difference between slaves or subjects and free men is the right to keep and bear arms that are similar to those carried by the King's men, the police, the military. Don't tell me that the 2nd Amd was written to protect duck hunters or target shooters! In fact, the American Revolution began at Concord and Lexington when the King's soldiers marched to confiscate the arms and gunpowder of American civilians.

Mr. Gomez, spare us your "I defended the Constitution" blather. We see through your politically expedient conversion to the dark side. You are now standing firmly on the side of King George and every other dictator who has smashed freedom, or tried to smash freedom, by disarming their "unruly peasants" in the name of "public safety." (BTW, did you know that the bloody mass-murderers of the French Revolution, who also disarmed their peasants--before executing them--were actually called "The Committee of Public Safety?")

I'm very ashamed of and disappointed in you, former SEAL or not, and I will do what I can to expose your selling out to the forces of rampant big-government statism. We don't want to live in a nation where the government holds a monopoly on meaningful firearms. We already know about many other countries that disarmed their populations before oppressing them. Just in the last century, Turkey, the USSR, Germany, China and a score of other nations disarmed their populations in the name of "public safety," and we know what happened next.

We all saw the movie about a nation that was made nearly gun-free, except for the police and the military. It was called Schindler's List, and you will not get us on those trains, at any time in the future, unless and until you disarm us--the hard way. We will not be led like sheep into the slaughter pens because in a moment of foolish optimism we believed the sweet lies of socialist politicians. You want to take them? Molon Labe, sellout. Come and take them!

Very much appreciate all the thoughtful comments. This is obviously a very contentious issue with good passionate people on both sides. I respect those that disagree with me. In the end, I will always try to do what is best for the country and the people and not the political parties. For those that disagree with me, I hope we can be civil and agree to disagree. Thank you.

GOA Alert: Senate Breaks the Cruz-Lee Filibuster of the Anti-gun ObamaCare Law

http://images.politico.com/global/2013/07/30/130730_ted_cruz_ap_605.jpg

The battle moves back to the House

“The only way to avert disaster is to fully repeal this anti-gun, ObamaCare monstrosity.  [At] a minimum, funding for ObamaCare should cease immediately.”

-- GOA statement in postcards landing on congressional desks over the past several weeks

The Senate today, by a vote of 79-19, overcame the Cruz-Lee filibuster that was aimed at defunding the anti-gun ObamaCare law.

The Senate action allowed Majority Leader Harry Reid to amend the Continuing Resolution by reinserting funds for ObamaCare -- funding that the House had stripped out last week.

Many of the speeches today on the Democrat side of the aisle lambasted Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) for trying to “slow down the legislative process” and for threatening a government shutdown.

What each speaker ignored, however, was that Senate Democrats could have passed the House version of the bill (without funding for ObamaCare) and sent it to the President TODAY.  This would definitely have avoided the very shutdown they were supposedly trying to avert.

The battle now moves back to the House where Republicans will have to decide whether they are going to stand tough or give in to Harry Reid’s wishes.

This fight is incredibly important.  Some pundits think that the implementation of ObamaCare will result in the health care system “falling apart on its weight.”  So they say we shouldn’t fight this now, because losing today will result in us winning tomorrow.

The problem with that thinking is this:  Can anyone name just one example of socialism that, once implemented in this country, was later fully repealed?  One would be hard-pressed to think of such an example.

The consequences for gun owners -- once ObamaCare is implemented -- will be immense. Once the government starts using medical maladies (such as PTSD, ADHD, etc.) as reasons to put our names in the NICS system, will those names ever be removed?

Just ask the more than 150,000 military veterans how it’s going for them!

That’s why fighting this anti-gun monstrosity RIGHT NOW -- before this law gets implemented -- is so important.

ACTION:

1) In the Senate.  Hold accountable those Senators, who voted AGAINST Cruz and Lee on the filibuster -- especially, Republican Senators. They are:

Lamar Alexander (R-TN)
John Cornyn (R-TX)
Kelly Ayotte (R-NH)
Lindsey Graham (R-SC)
John Barrasso (R-WY)
John Hoeven (R-ND)
Roy Blunt (R-MO)
John Isakson (R-GA)
John Boozman (R-AR)
Mike Johanns (R-NE)
Richard Burr (R-NC)
Ron Johnson (R-WI)
Saxby Chambliss (R-GA)
Mark Kirk (R-IL)
Jeff Chiesa (R-NJ)
John McCain (R-AZ)
Dan Coats (R-IN)
Mitch McConnell (R-TN)
Tom Coburn (R-OK)
Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
Thad Cochran (R-MS)
John Thune (R-SD)
Susan Collins (R-ME)
Roger Wicker (R-MS)
 Bob Corker (R-TN)

You can tell these Senators:  “Don’t tell me that you oppose the anti-gun ObamaCare law, given that you voted to end the Cruz-Lee filibuster!  By voting to ‘cloture’ the bill, you allowed ObamaCare to be funded by only 51 votes.  Don’t give me a year’s worth of pronouncements as to how you oppose ObamaCare, because when it really came down to the vote that counted, you bailed.  Shame on you.  I will ‘remember in November!’”

2) In the House.  Please urge your Representative to OPPOSE the Senate-passed version of the Continuing Resolution.  Tell them to support language which continues to defund ObamaCare or its mandate.  You must act quickly, as the House could act as soon as Saturday or Sunday.
Please email AND call (202-225-3121).

A subsidiary of Visa, a key Obama campaign donor, that specializes in credit card transactions has abruptly stopped servicing the nation’s largest gun store after four years because the store sells guns, a fact the owners never hid.

Hyatt Gun Shop of Charlotte, N.C., told Secrets that the subsidiary, Authorize.net/CyberSource, simply sent an email to owner Larry Hyatt to announce that it was suddenly breaking off the business relationship. The reason: “The sale of firearms or any similar product.”

DHS adviser to persecuted Christians: You incited Muslims. Islamic leader appointed to post by Janet Napolitano

 napolitano
Damn, wouldn't they make  a nice couple?:)

An adviser to the Department of Homeland Security has used his Twitter profile to defend the Muslim Brotherhood while accusing Egypt’s persecuted Christian minority of inciting against Islam.

Earlier this month, Mohamed Elibiary, who was appointed to the Department of Homeland Security Advisory Council by then-secretary Janet Napolitano in 2010, tweeted that he was reappointed and even promoted.

The Investigative Project on Terrorism reported Elibiary’s tweets about Egypt’s Coptic Christians.

“For decade since 9/11 attack extremist American #Coptic activists have nurtured anti #Islam & anti #Muslim sentiments among AM RT wing,” Elibiary wrote.

Earlier, Elibiary attacked the U.S. Coptic community for its protests against a wave of Muslim attacks on their relatives in Egypt.

“Good read by @mwhanna1 on need to reform #Coptic activism in #US including stop promoting *#Islamophobia,” he wrote Sept. 14. *Ain't no such thing, but there is: We hate your guts.

Americans warned bank 'bail-ins' coming. Experts say institutions will grab deposits without warning

 cash-money

With the United States facing a $17 trillion debt and an acidic debate in Washington over raising that debt limit on top of a potential government shutdown, Congress could mimic recent European action to let banks initiate a “bail-in” to blunt future failures, experts say.

Previously the federal government has taken taxes from consumers, or borrowed the money, to hand out to troubled banks. This could be a little different, and could allow banks to reach directly into consumers’ bank accounts for their cash.

Authority to allow bank “bail-ins” would be in lieu of approving any future taxpayer bailouts of banks that would be in dire need of recapitalization in order to survive.

Some financial experts contend that banks already have the legal authority to confiscate depositors’ money without warning, and at their discretion.

Financial analyst Jim Sinclair warned that the U.S. banks most likely to be “bailed-in” by their depositors are those institutions that received government bail-out funds in 2008-2009.

Such a “bail-in” means all savings of individuals over the insured amount would be confiscated to offset such a failure.

Facebook Shuts Down 1 Million Truckers Page

As the old saying goes, "there's more than one way to skin a cat." In previous articles on Freedom Outpost, it was reported that Facebook banned the Freedom Outpost page for 12 hours, and it shut down the Truckers to Shut Down America page permanently after it had gained over 87,000 likes and used the phrase "God Bless America." While the organization released a new website, Ride For the Constitution, a new Facebook page has emerged called Truckers Ride for the Constitution.

The new Facebook page has gained over 18,000 likes. The Facebook page is excellent media to show your support, leave comments indicating your participation for the event scheduled for October 11 – 13, 2013, and for organizations who want to get involved to contact and interact with others to show support for the Ride for the Constitution.

Country Moves Closer to Government Shutdown With Senate Vote

 Budget Battle

The U.S. government Friday moved one step closer to a possible shutdown, with the Senate rejecting a House-passed bill to continue funding the government in favor of a simpler alternative that did not interfere with ObamaCare.

The Senate sent to the House a “clean” continuing resolution that funds the government at current spending levels, $986 billion a year, through Nov. 15. The  vote, 54 to 44, sends back a bill to the House that Speaker John Boehner has already said he will not accept. If the House and Senate do not reach agreement by Monday, parts of the federal government deemed “non-essential” will cease operation at midnight.

Before the vote, several senators said they have no idea what the House will now do. If it sends back a contentious rebuttal including, for example, a one-year delay of Obamacare’s individual mandate, the Senate and House will be hard pressed to avert the October 1 funding deadline. Some Democratic senators said they would not accept anything but their proposal’s approval from the House.

What has dominated human conflict since the turn of the Millennium?

 https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/35/PKK_Militant.jpg

Here's an important question.
What do the following have in common?
  • 9/11 and Al Qaeda's subsequent attacks
  • The Iraq War (the guerrilla war)
  • The Nigerian Conflict (MEND vs. Shell Oil - 2007 -- cause of the oil price spike)
  • The Arab Spring (Tunisia/Lybia/Egypt)
  • Occupy
  • Anonymous
  • Snowden/Wikileaks crypto war.
They are all open source conflicts.

Clearly, open source warfare -- a form of warfare where many participants, motivated for very different reasons, join together to take on a larger foe -- now dominates modern conflict.

State 'weeding out' conservatives seeking to adopt. Program to recruit foster parents targets traditional values as unacceptable

 AdoptionSeminar

A video has been uncovered of officials in the state of Massachusetts promising to weed out those foster parents with conservative values who would only “tolerate” a youth’s gender confusion, and would not necessarily promote or endorse it.

The video was uncovered by political activist Amy Contrada, who long has done research on family issues and has issued other reports through the pro-family Mass Resistance organization.

In the report, she wrote, “It’s now official policy in Massachusetts. Adults holding traditional values will no longer be allowed to adopt or be foster parents.”

With its swivelling searchlights and arsenal of animal-killing weaponry, this isn't just any old Rolls Royce.

It's a 1925 Torpedo Tourer or 'Tiger Car' built for Umed Singh II, a maharajah who was rather fond of hunting the big cats.

Next month it will be one of six pre-war Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars up for grabs when Bonhams holds its annual auction on the Monterey Peninsula in California.

America’s Classical Catalyst

While in Paris Jefferson sent home his design for the Virginia capitol, a building to be “simple and sublime . . . copied from the most precious [mode of ancient] architecture remaining on earth.” He wrote that from “Lyons to Nismes I have been nourished with the remains of Roman grandeur . . . I am immersed in [antiquities from morning to night]. Understanding that modern man stood on the shoulders of giants, the men like Jefferson looked to the past for guidance in their experiment in government.
Bernhard Thuersam, Director
Cape Fear Historical Institute
"Documenting Cape Fear People, Places and History"

America’s Classical Catalyst

“We no longer characteristically study the ancient tongues.  Greek has disappeared from most public education; Latin has shrunk to a shadow of its importance in the days when the founding fathers read it fluently; and though the vogue of courses in translation and of general education has restored a certain pale of vitality to the Greeks, it has done less for the Romans. For these and other reasons the notion that the classical past has exerted an important influence on the culture of the United States seems to many absurd.

Yet evidence of that influence lies all around us. Many villages, towns and cities have either classical names such as Rome, Troy, Athens, Syracuse, Ithaca, Utica, Alexandria, or Augusta, or names compounded, sometimes uncouthly, out of one or more classical elements, as Thermopolis, Minneapolis, Itasca, or Spotsylvania.

Our streets are sometimes known as Euclid Avenue, Appian Way, Acadia Drive, or Phaeton Road.  The names of the States occasionally reveal classicism, as in the cases of Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Georgia.

The American college occupies something called a campus, a word that came into American English in this sense in 1774.  Fraternities and sororities display Greek letters standing for words known only to the initiate, as if the Eleusinian mysteries were still operative.  Certain categories of students in high school and college are sophomores, juniors and seniors; the first of these Latin derivatives dates (in this country) from 1726, the third to 1651, and the middle term from some period in between.

Constitutionally we are not a democracy but a republic; that is, res publica, a phrase referring to the commonweal, which in the sense of a government by elected representatives came into English in the seventeenth century.  The congress meets not in a parliament house . . . but a capitol, a word originally designating a citadel or temple on a hilltop, like the Jupiter Optimus Maximus which stood on the Capitoline Hill in Rome.

The great seal of the United States bears an eagle, a bird suggested by the eagle of the legions, the difference being that the American eagle is a bald eagle and not a Roman one.  It clasps and olive branch in one talon, a sheaf of arrows in the other, emblems of peace and war . . . having classical connotations.  The figure is surrounded by an enigmatic Latin phrase, E pluribus unum.

Our coinage, largely created by Jefferson, is decimal coinage . . . it was early agreed that our hard money would not show the head of any living president, partly because Roman coins had displayed the heads of deified emperors.  The goddess [Liberty] persists . . . she is known as Columbia, but she is always a goddess.  She is clad in classical garment; and on her head, or near her on a pole or standard she sometimes clasps, is a Phyrgian cap, worn in Rome by liberated slaves.

That the young nation should have accepted a set of classical coordinates to particularize components of its government and its republican culture is less astonishing than its failure would have been.  To western man between the fall of Constantinople (1453) and the fall of Napoleon (1815) the classical past was perpetually a catalytic agent, a dynamic force so wonderful and so elusive that generation after generation of thinkers recast Greece and Rome in their own images.

If the humanists did not literally rediscover antiquity, they remolded it, they energized it, they caused it to shine upon the horizon of European culture with a golden splendor. [This study revealed to them] a world at once timeless and flexible, elusive and permanent, a lost Utopia of the west inhabited by noble beings – Aspasia, Pericles, Marcus Aurelius, Horatius Cato, Cornelia, Caesar, Harmodius, Aristogeiton – men and women capable of creating republics and extending empires, writing tragedies and concocting satires, codifying wisdom and anticipating modernity. They were the wisest and most beautiful of mankind.”

Exclusive: Abuse and exploitation of migrant workers preparing emirate for 2022

Dozens of Nepalese migrant labourers have died in Qatar in recent weeks and thousands more are enduring appalling labour abuses, a Guardian investigation has found, raising serious questions about Qatar's preparations to host the 2022 World Cup.

This summer, Nepalese workers died at a rate of almost one a day in Qatar, many of them young men who had sudden heart attacks. The investigation found evidence to suggest that thousands of Nepalese, who make up the single largest group of labourers in Qatar, face exploitation and abuses that amount to modern-day slavery, as defined by the International Labour Organisation, during a building binge paving the way for 2022.

According to documents obtained from the Nepalese embassy in Doha, at least 44 workers died between 4 June and 8 August. More than half died of heart attacks, heart failure or workplace accidents.

The investigation also reveals:

Ole Miss Football: Playing "Dixie" At SEC Games Isn't Racist — It's Southern Culture

Via SHNV

For football fans south of the Mason-Dixon Line, over the past couple of years a new phrase has become common among the fan bases of what is arguably college football's toughest conference, the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The phrase goes: "Love God, Sweet Tea, and the SEC." This phrase is starting to become as sacrosanct as the American flag, apple pie, and motherhood among fans.

The conference was founded in 1932, and coincidentally, every school in the SEC is either located in a state that seceded from the Union in the lead-up to the American Civil War, or in the case of Missouri and Kentucky, had partisan factions within the Confederate Congress and was part of the territory that the Confederacy claimed during the war. With a history as traditional and rich as that of the South, it is no surprise that Confederate culture remains prevalent and has even made its way into the arena of college football. This prevalence of Southern culture can be demonstrated by the fact that the University of Mississippi's (more commonly known as Ole Miss's) band, the Pride of the South, plays the Confederacy's unofficial national anthem, "Dixie," when the Rebels score a big play.

Gun never fires when robber aims at customers, pulls trigger

There’s a man apparently intent on holding up a McDonald’s and willing to shoot people. In fact, he points his gun at his intended victims and pulls the trigger, The Star-Telegram reports.

He runs outside and fires a shot in the air. The gun discharges.

Back inside and aim.

Back outside and he fires the gun twice – at a passing car. It goes off.

RELIGION OF PEACE: ‘Eyes gouged out, bodies hanging from hooks, fingers removed with pliers, men castrated’

Screen Shot 2013-09-27 at 10.29.59 AM

Soldiers told of the horrific torture meted out by terrorists in the Nairobi mall massacre yesterday with claims hostages were dismembered, had their eyes gouged out and were left hanging from hooks in the ceiling.

Men were said to have been castrated and had fingers removed with pliers before being blinded and hanged.

Children were found dead in the food court fridges with knives still embedded in their bodies, it was claimed.

Most of the defeated terrorists, meanwhile, were reportedly discovered ‘burnt to ashes’, set alight by the last extremist standing to try to protect their identities.

The horrifying details came yesterday as the first pictures emerged from within the wreckage of the building, showing piles of bodies left strewn across the floor.

Homeowner is Arrested for Open Carrying an Empty Shotgun on His Own Property After Reporting a Tresspasser

A military veteran in Crawford County, Michigan has been arrested and charged with a felony assault with a deadly weapon even after HE was the one who called the cops in the first place when he found a man trespassing on his property.

When the man’s wife tried to video tape what was happening the cops told her to turn off the camera and tried to take it.  (You can see the video below… only because the wife figured out how to restore the “deleted” file)

The Blaze has reported that Thomas Donald was out hunting with his son on his own land when they came across the trespasser.  Donald had an unloaded .410 shotgun while his son was using a crossbow.

When they came across the trespasser on a dirt bike, they escorted him back to the house and called the Department of Natural Resources.  But when the police showed up everything went downhill fast.  According to Heather Donald when the cops showed up Thomas Donald held up his open shotgun in one hand and held a shell in his other hand to show that he was not a threat.

But the police did not get the hint and they soon had a pistol pointed at Donald as they put him in handcuffs and on the ground.

Cruz: If House GOP Stands Its Ground, Reid Cannot Fund Obamacare

Sen. Ted Cruz (R.-Texas) said today on a conference call that even if the Senate passes a continuing resolution that permits funding of Obamacare the fight to defund it is not over--because Obamacare cannot be funded unless the Republican-controlled House of Representatives agrees to do it.

“House Republicans can, and I believe should, continue to stand their ground,” said Cruz. “And, so, if the House holds firm, Harry Reid has no ability to muscle the House of Representatives—if they stand their ground.”

Issa feared targeted by terrorists after Democrats revealed secret Libya trip

A leaked State Department email indicates that officials were worried about the safety of House Oversight Committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa after Democrats revealed his plans for a secret trip to Libya this week.

Issa, a Republican from California, has safely returned from his fact-finding trip to the country as his committee continues to investigate the terrorist attacks that killed America’s ambassador and three others in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012.

CBS News reported Thursday on an email that quoted a Libyan national sharing “his concern and his opinion that Representative Issa should not come to Libya for his own safety.”

Greek government authorities are on alert after a union of Greek army reservists of Special Forces issued a statement urging the Greek administration to step down and make way for a national unity government. As Keep Talking Greece notes, the statement on the union' website included 15 demands - including the resignation of the Greek President - and urged people to gather at the infamous Syntagma Square on Saturday. The statement was interpreted by some as a call to a "coup d'etat" - denied by the union - but prompted Greece's Supreme Court to meet to discuss it.
