GRNC Alert 10-17-13 Gun Banners Attempt to Destroy Shooting Range

They talk about 'Gun Safety' but don't want anyone to practice and train...

The Second Amendment supporters responsible for developing Tiger Swan, a relatively new but well-used Cumberland County outdoor range, have done everything right. The operation was recruited by county officials in 2008 to locate in Cumberland County and began operations in 2010. After years of work and at great expense they have exceeded the numerous difficult requirements now required for establishing new outdoor shooting ranges. For their range they have:

Obtained almost 1000 acres of agricultural land, five times the 200 acres required by county rules.

Carefully and professionally engineered their site to contain all “Surface Danger Zones” on the property itself.

    Maintained access control.

Secured liability insurance of $5 million, exceeding the required $2 million.

Hired an engineer to plan and certify that the range to complies with EPA “Best Management Practices.

Since opening three years ago, a small group of residents has sued Cumberland County to revoke Tiger Swan's zoning, effectively “moving the goalposts”. Although this group cites concern over noise, danger from stray rounds, and unsubstantiated claims of reduced property values, it is clear what they are really attacking: the right to use firearms in Cumberland County.

While fighting in the courts, Tiger Swan has reapplied for an operating permit under revised County rules established by Commissioners in June, 2013. The Commissioners will meet this coming Monday, October 21 to decide if the permit will be granted.

Denial of this permit will eliminate training opportunities for citizens and law-enforcement officers, as well as cause a chilling effect on range development everywhere in the state. If this first-class operation can be “run out of town” by the gun grabbers, anyone can.

“Dixie” Played at the Heavenly Shore

Weldon B. Heyburn (1852-1912) was born in Chadd’s Ford, Pennsylvania and served as senator from Idaho 1903-1912.  Heyburn spoke at a Union League meeting in 1910 against Lee’s statue being placed in the Capitol (the Union League was instrumental in turning the Southern black man against his white neighbors).  It was said that “the system of [Heyburn] was fairly diseased with venom” and hated anything Southern.  Heyburn died in November 1912 -- “Dixie” lives on.

“Dixie” Played at the Heavenly Shore

“Heyburn Howls at “Dixie”:  Heyburn orders the band to stop playing “Dixie.”  He waves his hand in Idaho and exclaims: “This is a Republican meeting; we want no such tunes here!”  Music that comes “like the sweet South” rouses his rage.  He hates everything that comes from the South except the darky delegates to Republican conventions.

This is the same Heyburn who was found snarling at the heels of Lee when Virginia set up her majestic statue in the United States Capitol. It is the same Heyburn who has succeeded by constant effort in making for himself a distinct place as the pest of the Senate.  He may stop his hired bands in Idaho; but Heyburn can no more stop “Dixie” than the old woman who brushed the beach with her broom could sweep back the sea.
Lee could get no farther than Gettysburg with his armies; but “Dixie” has marched on for forty years, conquering the North, annexing Canada and Mexico, and sweeping its way through Europe.  It makes China hum and India pat its foot.  Japan is its ally and all Africa its possession.

Wherever the blood of man bounds to martial music there “Dixie” sings its stirring strains. It will live long after the bloody shirt vanished and the mouthiest Heyburn is dead.  Long ago it ceased to be the air of a section and took its place among the hymns of the nation. No medley of patriotic airs is complete without it.  Like the “Marseillaise,” it not only recalls glorious memories and historic deeds, but its notes stir the blood and sound forth like the trumpet call of battle.

“Dixie” will not die.  Whole legions of Heyburn’s braying with 10,000,000 jackass power cannot drown its martial notes. It has become a part of the music of nations and, let us hope, also of the spheres; and if the good things of earth are preserved in the hereafter, Heyburn will find himself greeted when he reaches the heavenly shore by a celestial band playing in its most effective style the tune he hates so much.

We trust before that time he may have become reconstructed and reconciled, so that he may not turn his back on Paradise because “Dixie” is in the musical repertoire. – Baltimore Sun.

Anti-gun ObamaCare Takes Giant Step Forward, But the battle is far from over

"If Senate Republicans had united and supported House Republicans, supported the American people, we could have had a different outcome. [But even after yesterday’s loss] there is reason to take heart and be encouraged....” -- Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX)

Yesterday’s budget deal represented one giant leap for the ObamaCare law; one small step backward for liberty.

Details of this atrocious agreement continue to leak out -- like a $2B kickback for Senator Mitch McConnell’s state of Kentucky and a provision that makes it more difficult to stop the debt ceiling from being raised in the future.

So much for the argument that Democrats were making:  We want a “clean” budget bill!  (Yeah, right.)

Yes, the budget deal is horrible.  Our debt ceiling has been increased.  The anti-ObamaCare continues to be funded (for now).  And the Stupid Party has demonstrated, once again, that they hold advanced degrees from the Neville Chamberlain School of Negotiations.

But while CNN and MSNBC are crowing about Wednesday’s budget deal “victory” -- and the defeat of the Ted Cruz and Mike Lee faction of the Republican Party -- they may be missing the bigger picture.

They miss the growing anger at ObamaCare, and the fact that the battle over the partial government shutdown has all but stalled the anti-gun agenda on Capitol Hill:

1. Because of the “shutdown,” Obama was unable to push his campaign for gun control, exploiting the Navy Yard killings.
Similarly, anti-gun immigration reform, scheduled for October, has also been scuttled amidst a sea of bad blood. With the window for considering both of these measures rapidly closing, the temporary shutdown makes it MUCH more likely that neither of these can be passed in the 113th Congress.

2. Secondly, the conservative base has been energized, and anger at ObamaCare could strip Senate control out of Harry Reid’s hands.
At a time when ObamaCare is collapsing, conservatives forced “red state Democrats” running for reelection to firmly take a position in favor of the unpopular program.
In the Senate, what will determine control of the chamber are places like Alaska, Arkansas, Louisiana, South Dakota, Montana, North Carolina, West Virginia -- all of which view ObamaCare much more unfavorably than the country as a whole.

3. Finally, good things happen for those who decide to fight.
The Karl Rove strategy of not fighting “just because we won’t win” is a stupid strategy.  The truth is that, fighting the fight for principle always brings a good return.
As a result of Obama’s gun control push this spring -- and his insistence on his unpopular ObamaCare mandate this month -- the conservative base is riled up to tsunami levels.
The Associated Press recently showed that Barack Hussein Obama’s approval ratings had declined down to 37%.  Even though liberty took a hit yesterday, many Americans came out of this convinced, for the first time, that Obama is a genuinely nasty and vengeful man.  And that is a realization that will bear fruit in future battles -- and future elections.

This is exactly Senator Cruz’ take on what happened yesterday.
“If you look at what was accomplished, a couple of months ago the Washington establishment scoffed at the idea that the American people would rise up in overwhelming numbers [and]
that the House of Representatives would stand strong against ObamaCare,” Cruz said.
“What we have seen in the last two months [is] a model that I think is the model going forward to defeat ObamaCare.”

Gun Owners of America will be rating the votes that were cast yesterday in favor of funding the anti-gun ObamaCare law as part of the Continuing Resolution.

You can see how your Senators and Representative voted by going here:
* Click here to see the House vote.

* Click here to see the Senate cloture vote. (Note: The “cloture” vote ends debate on the legislation and brings the bill up for a vote on final passage.  It is often referred to as the “filibuster” vote.)

* Click here to see the Senate final passage vote.
In all three votes above, Gun Owners of America will score “NO” as the pro-gun vote, given that ObamaCare has such negative ramifications for gun rights.

So, what are we going to be doing for the next two months?
1) With your help, it appears we have stopped ratification of the UN Arms Trade Treaty.

2) For gun owners who do not absolutely need insurance, we are going to campaign for them to boycott the anti-gun ObamaCare program.

3) The Republican leadership is now primed to negotiate a really bad deal over the next three months. We’re going to have to work to swat down each anti-gun proposal as it raises its ugly head.

Spooked by NSA, eBay founder plans hard-hitting news site

Billionaire Pierre Omidyar is worried that the free press won't be so free after mass surveillance and aggressive policies toward whistle-blowers get through with it. He's decided to take action.

Alarmed at the potential threat to a free press posed by aggressive attitudes toward leakers and by the National Security Agency's seemingly boundless spying powers, eBay founder Pierre Omidyar is set to pour at least $250 million into a new kind of journalism outfit.

"I have always been of the opinion that the right kind of journalism is a critical part of our democracy," Omidyar is quoted as saying in a PressThink blog item posted Wednesday by media critic and former NYU journalism chair Jay Rosen.

The eBay founder, who with projects like community news site Civil Beat has previously moved into journalistic territory, has tapped Glenn Greenwald to help build a team of "independent journalists with expertise, and a voice, and a following" who can practice the art of deep-dive investigative reporting.

Obama: "Stop Focusing On The Bloggers"

Via NC Renegade

Fast forward to 5'40" in Obama's speech delivered earlier today.

It is here that he makes the following statement:
"Now that the government has reopened and this threat to our economy is removed, all of us need to stop focusing on the lobbyists, and the bloggers, and the talking heads on radio and the professional activists who profit from conflict, and focus on what the majority of Americans sent us here to do, and that’s grow this economy, create good jobs, strengthen the middle class, educate our kids, lay the foundation for broad-based prosperity and get our fiscal house in order for the long haul."

Another black-mob attack? Look who's not talking

Black mob violence has struck again, almost killing another Philadelphia-area girl. Or has it?

The police and the press won’t say if the predators are black. Neither will Joseph Parris, the girl’s father. He refuses to describe the nine or more “teens” who stalked, taunted, beat, kicked, laughed at, spit at, and threw his daughter into moving traffic – ultimately landing her in the hospital with a collapsed lung.

Parris said he was “upset” that anyone would question whether his daughter is the latest victim of an epidemic of recent black mob violence, documented in over 100 cities and 500 occasions in the “White Girl Bleed a Lot: The Return of Racial Violence to America and How the Media Ignore It.”

Including many in the Philadelphia area. He said he just wants to catch them.

The mob violence happened Monday night after a high school football game. That much we know for sure.

The unidentified teenage girl was walking home from the field at Interboro High School in Prospect Park when she was “ambushed” by the race-free mob.

NC: Insane school unleashes fake masked gunman for civics experiment

Via WiscoDave

Sixth graders were initially terrified to learn that a masked gunman was on the prowl inside their North Carolina middle school.

But once they learned the gunman was a school employee unwittingly putting them through an emergency preparedness exercise, their minds were set at ease — and their parents became the terrified ones.

The Eastern Wayne Middle School employee donned a ski mask and toy gun, and pretended to be a robber. The school described the incident as “an enrichment lesson on exhibiting good citizenship and observing your surroundings.”

White House planned shutdown. 'Republicans walked into a trap set up by Valerie Jarrett, Obama'

The shutdown was deliberately orchestrated by the White House, according to the former foreign editor of Newsweek and editor-in-chief of the New York Times Magazine.

Why would the White House intentionally cause such pain and havoc across the country?

It is a ploy to win votes, concluded author Ed Klein.

He told the New York Post that President Obama’s closest adviser, Valerie Jarrett, developed a strategy to force a showdown with Republicans over Obamcare.

Jarrett recommended shutting down government because, Klein said, she believed voters would pin the blame on Republicans.

And that would give Democrats the opportunity to win control of the House of Representatives in the 2014 midterm elections.

NBC Edits Video to Frame Veterans

 americanexperience

MSNBC has been caught airing a deceptively edited video of a rally that took place in Washington D.C. over the weekend, in addition to flagrantly lying to its viewers.

Raw footage of the protests outside the gates of the White House showed hyped-up riot police striking and shoving elderly war vets.

However, in a segment produced by MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, only two-thirds of the footage was shown, making it appear as though veterans initiated the confrontations.

A proposal to end the government shutdown and avoid default orchestrated by Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and Democratic Leader Harry Reid includes a $2 billion earmark for a Kentucky project.
Language in a draft of the McConnell-Reid deal (see page 13, section 123) provided to WFPL News shows a provision that increases funding for the massive Olmsted Dam Lock in Louisville from $775 million to nearly $2. 9 billion.
