Concord Police, Go and Get Your Bearcat
Via WRSA
Recently a great deal of fuss has been made about the police department in Concord, New Hampshire applying for a grant from the US Department of Homeland Security to obtain a tank. The military apparatus in question is a Lenco Bearcat, an armored vehicle with gun ports. The police, of course, claim it is only a rescue vehicle, as evidenced by their use of several such vehicles to rescue Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, a wounded, unarmed, 19 year old, boy.
Much of the controversy centers around the application for the grant, in which police say they have a domestic terrorist problem, including, but not limited to “Free Staters”. Now, I can certainly see why people would get upset about that. After all, in the 12 year history of the Free State Project, I’m aware of exactly zero incidents of Free Stater initiated violence, and the FSP website says rather clearly “Anyone who promotes violence, racial hatred, or bigotry is not welcome.”. I can personally attest to the aversion Free Staters have to any sort of violence, because I was practically run out of town for simply suggesting that people have the right to defend themselves against government agents, and the inevitable outrage that this article will invoke from libertarians may serve as further proof.
On the other hand, we have no shortage of violence involving Free Staters. Government agents have repeatedly harassed, assaulted, and kidnapped Free Staters. The next logical step is for police to begin killing these peaceful activists, and the acquisition of military hardware in the name of this group is a rather obvious sign that this is their intention.

Texas crowd gives Cruz eight-minute ovation
Via Angry Mike
While the Washington, D.C., elite continue to disparage him and his ideals, Sen. Ted Cruz proved his appeal among those who elected him has not waned.
In his first home court speech in two months, the Texas Republican told a San Antonio crowd “it’s great to be back in America.” Those in attendance greeted him with an eight-minute standing ovation in support of his principled stance on a number of issues — especially the de-funding of ObamaCare.
He addressed the unpopular law and the inability of Senate Republicans to “stand with House Republicans against the train wreck that is ObamaCare.”

“I’ll come to your place when SHTF” – no you won’t

Dear Friend:
I love my friends, but I will shoot you if I have to. I’m serious. Here’s why.
I tried to persuade you to prepare for what’s coming and, in the process, revealed that to you that I’m preparing. You realized that I have food, guns, etc., and ended up saying, half kidding but half serious, “I’ll come to your place when SHTF.”
No you won’t. I will shoot you. If you threaten me and my family, I will use force to defend against any threat. And showing up at my place hungry and unprepared is a threat to me. You will eat my food and use up my medical supplies, generator, firewood, etc. That’s less of these life-saving things for me and my family. That’s a threat.

Obama leaves American POW Sgt. Bowe Robert Bergdahl to Rot in Afghanistan – Provides Only Excuses
According to our President, the United States is still on schedule to hand over security to the Afghan government authorities in 2014.
Many Americans do not know, or have forgotten, American POW Sgt. Bowe Robert Bergdahl. Sgt. Bergdahl's capture was not the media event we experienced like the highly publicized rescue of Jessica Lynch during her 30 day capture/imprisonment. However, it has been over four years since Sgt. Bergdahl's June 30, 2009 capture and imprisonment in Afghanistan by a Taliban-affiliated insurgent group. It is time America demanded his release and return to his family.

Stephen Trevor Chapman, 22, Shot By Homeowner, 68, After Sleeping With Man's 63-Year-Old Wife
A 22-year-old Arizona man is in jail today after sleeping with a married 63-year-old woman in her own home, then cursing out her 68-year-old, Parkinson’s-suffering husband who walked in on them — resulting in the older man blasting him with a shotgun.
Stephen Trevor Chapman absorbed only minor damage and was booked on disorderly conduct charges.
“This was an unusual call for our deputies in an active senior community,” said Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu. “The young man is lucky that he only got poked with a cane and hit with a stray pellet from the shotgun.”

We’re in the best of hands: teens caught with 3,500 rounds of TSA ammunition
TSA officials say they are investigating to see whether procedures were not followed, after three teenagers were found in a vehicle within 70 boxes of ammunition intended for law-enforcement use.
Authorities said the teens — ages 18, 16 and 15 — were suspected of involvement in a break-in early Sunday at a trailer owned by the federal air marshal program, which is part of the Transportation Security Administration. Police said the trailer was in the 7400 block of New Ridge Road in the Hanover area of Anne Arundel County, about one mile from the terminal at Baltimore-Washington International Marshall Airport.
Officials said ammunition is typically stored in a more secure facility.

So, How Do We Evil Tea Party Anarchists Win?
The establishment has declared us defeated, but we’re ready to fight like rabid wolverines. Now we need to think carefully about how we defeat our opponents over the long haul. And “the long haul” means many election cycles.
Our objective is not merely to take back power for a term or two but to permanently and decisively eliminate this fascism-derived chronic infection of the American body politic, progressivism. The first step is to finish the transformation of the Republican Party from an echo of the statist consensus into a liberty-focused opposition.

Tea-partier unloads on Democrat for KKK email
Outspoken Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson is facing considerable outrage after comparing the tea party to the Ku Klux Klan in a new fundraising email.
In the final days of the government shutdown, Grayson told MSNBC’s Al Sharpton he believes the tea party is about as popular as the KKK. He is now circulating a fundraising email that shows a burning cross and two Klansmen in the background. The graphic uses the cross to begin spelling out “tea party,” and the caption reads, “Now You Know What the ‘T’ Stands For.”
“I find it absolutely appalling, not only as a black tea-party activist, but as a human being and as a former teacher, because he’s totally distorting history and what the Constitution stands for,” said Jennifer Burke, national outreach director for TheTeaParty.net, which is the largest grassroots tea-party group in the nation.
“He’s taken the history of the Democratic Party – because they were the party of the KKK. They were the ones that were burning crosses and lynching black people and shooting them because they were the wrong color – he’s applying that horrible time in our history to a group of people who simply want constitutionally limited government and who want the government to respect the freedoms that the Constitution grants us in our God-given rights,” Burke told WND.

Medal of Honor Roll Call: Bruce Avery Van Voorhis
Citation:
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty as Squadron Commander of Bombing Squadron 102 and as Plane Commander of a PB4Y-I Patrol Bomber operating against the enemy on Japanese-held Greenwich Island during the battle of the Solomon Islands, 6 July 1943.
Fully aware of the limited chance of surviving an urgent mission, voluntarily undertaken to prevent a surprise Japanese attack against our forces, Lt. Comdr. Van Voorhis took off in total darkness on a perilous 700-mile flight without escort or support. Successful in reaching his objective despite treacherous and varying winds, low visibility and difficult terrain, he fought a lone but relentless battle under fierce antiaircraft fire and overwhelming aerial opposition. Forced lower and lower by pursuing planes, he coolly persisted in his mission of destruction.
Abandoning all chance of a safe return he executed 6 bold ground-level attacks to demolish the enemy’s vital radio station, installations, antiaircraft guns and crews with bombs and machinegun fire, and to destroy 1 fighter plane in the air and 3 on the water. Caught in his own bomb blast, Lt. Comdr. Van Voorhis crashed into the lagoon off the beach, sacrificing himself in a single-handed fight against almost insuperable odds, to make a distinctive contribution to our continued offensive in driving the Japanese from the Solomons and, by his superb daring, courage and resoluteness of purpose, enhanced the finest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service. He gallantly gave his life for his country
The ‘We Can’t Win’ Wimps Caucus
“We told you you would lose!” wail the Beltway bundlers of the Republican establishment.
“We told you you would lose!” moan neoconservative columnists from their privileged perches on the op-ed pages of the Beltway press.
“Look at what Ted Cruz and this Tea Party people did to us,” wails the GOP establishment. “Look what has happened to our brand.” And 2014 was looking wonderful.
What a basket of wimps.
While the political and communications strategy of the fight to defund Obama seems not to have been thought through, can someone explain what else a moral and principled Republican party could have done in the continuing resolution, other than try to defund Obamacare?
Have we lost sight of what a monstrosity this is?

Forget Ronald Reagan, Republican candidates race to be the next Ted Cruz
The competition to be the next Ted Cruz is extremely hot within the Republican Party, where a number of emerging challengers are hoping to capitalize on the newest brand name in conservative politics.
In Kansas, Milton R. Wolf opened his fundraising pitch to supporters last week by asking them whether he could be the next Cruz candidate. In Mississippi, Chris McDaniel announced his campaign to unseat Sen. Thad Cochran last week and welcomed the comparison to Mr. Cruz, calling it “a compliment.”

Jesse Watters Marches Into Maine Town Council Meeting, Confronts Members For Insulting Christmas AND Veterans
This week, O'Reilly Factor correspondent Jesse Watters traveled to northern New England to find out why a majority of the town council of Bar Harbor, Maine, voted to remove a coniferous war memorial from the village.
In 2011, a tree decked with colored lights was placed to memorialize American veterans, notably those involved in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.
The battle, which took place during the Christmas season of 1944, resulted in thousands of American casualties.

Southern Democratic congressman sends fundraising email with burning cross representing tea party
Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson sent out a fundraising email with a burning cross to compare the tea party to the Klu Klux Klan.
The Florida congressman, who was known for his over-the-top antics in the House during a previous tenure in Congress, also excerpted a transcript of a recent appearance on MSNBC’s “Politics Nation w/ Al Sharpton” in which he declared that, after the government shutdown, “the tea party is no more popular than the Klan.”
In the email, the burning cross is used as a “t” to spell out “tea party.” See part of the email below:

Race-Hustling Results
Years ago, someone said that, according to the laws of aerodynamics, bumblebees cannot fly. But the bumblebees, not knowing the laws of aerodynamics, go ahead and fly anyway.
Something like that happens among people. There have been many ponderous academic writings and dour editorials in the mainstream media, lamenting that most people born poor cannot rise in American society any more. Meanwhile, many poor immigrants arrive here from various parts of Asia, and rise on up the ladder anyway.
Often these Asian immigrants arrive not only with very little money, but also very little knowledge of English. They start out working at low-paid jobs but working so many hours, often at more than one job, that they are able to put a little money aside.
After a few years, they have enough money to open some little shop, where they still work long hours, and still save their money, so that they can afford to send their children to college. Meanwhile, these children know that their parents not only expect, but demand, that they make good grades.
Some people try to explain why Asians, and Asian-Americans, succeed so well in education and in the economy by some special characteristics that they have. That may be true, but their success may also be due to what they do not have -- namely "leaders" who tell them that the deck is so stacked against them that they cannot rise, or at least not without depending on "leaders."

Where is the White House getting the money for ObamaCare’s “tech surge”?
Budget request denied, Sebelius turns to health executives to finance.
Sebelius told Congress this afternoon that she will indeed agree to testify about the O-Care rollout — just not this week, as she has a scheduling conflict. Here’s a question for her when she does via Byron York: How are they paying for this all-hands-on-deck salvage operation of Healthcare.gov, which even The One himself described as a “tech surge” in the Rose Garden today? I’m not asking that rhetorically, either. Appropriations can be very confusing; plenty of people watching the “defund” pageant play out assumed, I think, that a shutdown would mean choking off funding for ObamaCare until it was over. Not so, but you can understand why that mistaken impression might be had. Maybe York and I — and John Cornyn — are similarly mistaken and there’s an obvious source of funds for the “surge,” but if so, what?

Dick Cheney: Tea Party a 'Good Thing' for GOP
Must be a parody.:)
The tea party is a force for good in the Republican Party, says former Vice President Dick Cheney.
"I think they raised issues that an awful lot of Americans care about," he told NBC’s "Today" program.
"It’s an uprising, in part, and the good thing is it's taken place within the Republican Party. I don't see it as a negative. I think it's much better to have that kind of turmoil and change in the Republican Party than it would be to have it outside."
