I do remember the blinding sun! :)

50 years.  Where did they go?

**********************************************************************

Just like going home to Grandma. The best of Southern service and food.
Afterwards, sit in front of the fire.

Off to the cocktail party, but wind and rain gave us a brief respite.

Colonel Turley, our Bible teacher and football coach, was instrumental in preserving this graveyard.

We added two and the flag.

95 unknown Confederate soldiers buried in the shape of a cross.

The "Bionic Man" who took over my squad when I was promoted to Battalion Adjutant.

One more retreat of many.

Our bugler still fits into his uniform!

He is visible in the distance and performed an absolutely perfect rendering of Taps.

The brick for SGT Glenn Richard Brewster KIA VN
He was the only one of our class KIA in Vietnam which is extraordinary.

Glen joins the many other graduates KIA in past wars.

The cannon have the followed etched into the area surrounding the muzzles. "Revere Copper, No 201 and 202?, 1,223 lbs., T.J.R. and 1863."

Daddy and Dixie with her "Baby Tiger" at our 40th. :)

Part of our museum.

Beaman was the CO of A Company and retired from the Army as a Full Bird.

Herb graduated in '56, came back to teach in '60 and has been in Lewisburg ever since.
"Mr. Greenbrier."

.357 at the ready, Sir! :)

 Dixie at our 40th.

The gentleman on the far left and the lady on the far right won our yearly scholarships.

Dixie made her dress from a bathrobe!

Don't go anywhere near Lewisburg without staying. Tons of Confederate items.

The front desk is hand built of walnut and pine, dating to 1760. Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson stood at this desk when they registered at the Sweet Chalybeate Springs Hotel, one of the many mineral springs resorts in the area visited by antebellum aristocrats of the South.

Another reunion is over, sad to say.

Dixie after our 40th reunion on the steps of the General Lewis as above.

I detect sadness here also.  Dixie says she loves to talk to my old friends which is most pleasing.

Dixie after our 40th reunion in approximately the same spot as above.  I wish they wouldn't grow up. :(

Me aligning the battalion was easier said than done.

Man Fatally Shoots Home Intruder

OC Sheriff's Department Most Wanted List

A Yorba Linda resident shot and killed an intruder who broke into his home early Sunday, authorities said.

The incident happened about 3 a.m. in the 5000 block of Wendover Road, said Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.

The wife of the man who shot the intruder called 911 saying he had a man at gunpoint, Hallock said. The men had been arguing, deputies said. There was a baby in the house.

Deputies said they were looking into what, if any, charges might be filed against the man who fired the gun, but said it appears to be self defense.

Neighbors, meanwhile, were shocked.

Valentines? Notes on the Pussification of America

http://anodtothegods.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/internet-true-7.jpg

It is time to get women out of the schooling of boys. It is way past time. Women in our feminized classrooms are consigning generations of our sons to years of misery and diminished futures. The evidence is everywhere. Few dare notice it.

The feminization is real. More than seventy-five percent of teachers are women; in New York state, over ninety percent of elementary school teachers are women; in the US, over seventy percent of psychologists are women, with (sez me) the rest being doubtful. This is feminization with fangs.

I have just read Back to Normal: Why Ordinary Childhood Behavior Is Mistaken for ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, and Autism Spectrum Disorder, by a psychologist, Enrico Gnaulati, who works with children alleged to have psychological problems in school, usually meaning boys. I decline to recommend it because of its psychobabble, its tendency to discover the obvious at great length, and its Genderallly Correct pronouns, which will grate on the literate. (I mean constructions resembling “If a student comes in, tell him or her that he or she should put his or her books in his or her locker”) However, a serious interest in the subject justifies slogging through the prose. (The statistics above are from the book.)

The relevent content is that women are making school hell for boys, that they have turned normal boyish behavior, such as enjoyment of rough-housing, into psychiatric “personality disorders.” They are doping boys up, forcing them into behavior utterly alien to them, and sending them to psychiatrists if they don´t conform to standards of behavior suited to girls. The result is that boy children hate school and do poorly (despite, as Gnaulati, says, having higher IQs). This is no secret for anyone paying attention, but  Gnaulati  makes it explicit.

As a galling example he cites one Robert, an adolescent responding badly to classes and therefore suspected by his teacher of having a “personality disorder.”  From the book:

Violent Crime In America Increased By 15 Percent Last Year

 89425692_Knife_209213c

If your neighborhood is not as safe as it used to be, then you have something in common with the rest of the country. All over America, crime is on the rise. According to a government survey that was just released, violent crime in the United States increased by 15 percent last year, and property crime was up by 12 percent. If violent crime keeps increasing at this rate, it will approximately double in just six years. But as I wrote about the other day, when the next major economic downturn strikes it will probably greatly accelerate the growth of the crime rate in this country.

Desperate people do desperate things, and as you will read about below, there are people out there that are already stealing entire truckloads of food. In the future, when people are extremely hungry or crazy for their next drug hit, they won't think twice about invading your home or pulling you out of your vehicle. The rise in crime that we are witnessing right now is just the beginning. It is going to get a lot worse than this.

Bill Clinton: Conservative Surge Could Win Virginia for Cuccinelli

 http://bearingdrift.com/wp-content/uploads/Ken-Cuccinelli-family1.jpg

Former President Bill Clinton is warning fellow Democrats that conservative ideologues are reliable voters who could threaten his friend Terry McAuliffe's chances of becoming governor of Virginia.

Clinton joined McAuliffe Sunday for joint events and warned voters that Republican nominee Ken Cuccinelli is trying to energize his conservative base by using wedge issues such as abortion rights.

Clinton says the tactics certainly will fire people up and get them to the polling locations. But he says Democrats cannot relent and must "drag" their friends with them to the polls on Nov. 5.

'SNL' ridicules Obama's health chief for website failure

NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” program ridiculed Barack Obama’s health secretary in its opening segment last night, leading one Republican senator on Sunday to label Kathleen Sebelius as the “laughingstock of America.”

Comedic actress Kate McKinnon portrayed the embattled Sebelius, who was trying to alleviate concerns over the crashing and “sucking” of the website where citizens are encouraged to sign up for Obamacare.

“If our website still isn’t loading properly, we’re probably just overloaded with traffic,” she explained. “Millions of Americans are visiting HealthCare.gov, which is great news. Unfortunately, the site was only designed to handle six users at a time.”

Student says New York university forced him to remove Confederate flag

 https://fbexternal-a.akamaihd.net/safe_image.php?d=AQAyEyPZJheF8Ig3&w=377&h=197&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kristv.com%2Fimages%2Fnews%2F2013-10%2FCONFED.jpg&cfs=1

A University of Rochester student is accusing the college of violating his First Amendment rights after a residence hall adviser reportedly forced him to remove a Confederate flag from his dorm room window over the “discomfort" it was causing.

Matthew Papay, a 19-year-old sophomore from Weaverville, N.C., says the flag was hanging in the window of his residence hall on campus in early October when graduate house adviser Catherine Christian told him to remove it, the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle reports.

In an Oct. 11 email to Papay, Christian told him that the flag violated the fire code, claiming it was acting as a drape, which is against housing policy.

Papay then removed the flag and replaced it with a paper version after confirming with fire marshals that the new one would comply with regulations.

But Christian responded again, saying that her supervisor told her that people were complaining about the Confederate flag.

Fake bulletproof vest

hree Central Floridians were arrested on allegations of creating and selling fake body armor that provided no ballistic protection, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement announced Monday.

Investigators allege that the owner of Alpha Inc., Scott Anderson, 57, of Ocoee, sold counterfeit body armor at gun shows across Florida.  Agents believe Scott Williams, 51, of Ocoee, and Arami Rodriguez, 36, of Ocoee, worked for Anderson and assisted in the manufacturing and selling of the fake body armor.

"These suspects sold dangerous products to unsuspecting consumers raking in large profits for themselves," said FDLE Orlando Regional Operations Center Special Agent in Charge Danny Banks.

Healthcare Industry Already Cutting Jobs

VERBATIM

More than 41,000 healthcare workers have been laid off so far this year, and much of the blame goes to Obamacare.

The cuts have affected mostly hospital staffing in response to reduced reimbursement rates for Medicare patients under the sequester, and cuts for some providers under the Affordable Care Act, according to an article by Kevin D. Williamson for National Review Online.

Private insurers are also reducing payments.

The sequester will probably be repealed at some point, but the effects of Obamacare will likely remain, Williamson warns.

The Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) is required by the healthcare reform act to reduce the growth of Medicare spending. The bill also bars the IPAB from raising Medicare premiums or rationing care, so most of any savings will come from reduced Medicare payments to providers.

Also, the aging of the U.S. population means that a larger share of healthcare will be paid at Medicare rates in future years. That will put financial strain on hospitals, so hospitals have begun cutting back.
Some hospitals will reportedly be forced to close due to the reduced Medicare payments.

The job cuts will pose problems for the economy as well as healthcare. The number of jobs in healthcare — including not just doctors and nurses but clerical staff, billing specialists, and others — grew by 63 percent from 1990 to 2008, accounting for one out of every four jobs created during that period.

Also, healthcare is a sector that has enjoyed relatively strong growth in inflation-adjusted wages in recent decades.

"Losing that means losing a big piece of the employment picture, not just in total jobs but in real income," observes Williamson, author of the new book "The End Is Near and It's Going to Be Awesome."

"Which puts us in a difficult position: Cutting Medicare and Medicaid spending will have ill effects on the job market, but not cutting Medicare and Medicaid spending will bankrupt the country."

A Shocking Number In The Age Of Obama

Via WiscoDave

The phrase “waving the bloody shirt” grew popular in the South as a description of Republicans’ alleged exaggeration of the crimes of the Ku Klux Klan, the paramilitary division of the Democratic party. It is an irony of history that waving the bloody shirt has in the Age of Obama become the Democrats’ primary mode of discourse. Oppose the Affordable Care Act? Racism. Like the Second Amendment? Racism. Black Barbie is on sale for half off, but white Barbie is full price? Racism. Black holes sucking the energy out of your quadrant? Why single out the black ones? Racism!

Waving the bloody shirt is not only about making an emotional appeal — it’s a strategy for distraction. It became a bitter joke in the Soviet Union — whether the issue was the crimes of Stalin or the fact that the Lada was a piece of junk, the answer was always the same: A u vas negrov linchuyut. The same principle is at work in today’s Democratic commentariat: As Americans start to notice what a fiasco Obamacare is . . . Oh, look! A Confederate flag! There is really nothing more satisfying to liberals than a Confederate flag sighting, though I wonder what they’d make of the fact that in my corner of Texas it is not unheard-of to see black men wearing Dixie belt buckles or T-shirts. (All of our necks are just different shades of red.) When Brad Paisley sings about the Confederate flag, it’s like Christmas morning for TourĂ©. Yet, despite the daft insistence of Joan Walsh and the Affiliated Suburban Pearl-Clutchers of America, there is no neo-Confederate revanche just around the corner. The idea is, however, a useful distraction. But a distraction from what?

From $4,955.

Fifty years into the Democrats’ declaration of a war on poverty and President Kennedy’s first executive order for affirmative action, while spending $300 million a year on worthless diversity workshops and singing endless verses of “We Shall Overcome,” after enduring endless posturing from Barack Obama and the moral preening of his admirers, that is what black American families have to show for themselves: an average household net worth of $4,955. The average white household in these United States has a net worth of $110,729. Black Americans’ median net worth is less than 5 percent that of white Americans.

GRNC: HALTS ILLEGAL GUN REGISTRY & Showdown On Illegal Signs

  VICTORY!
GRNC HALTS ILLEGAL GUN REGISTRY

CMPD relents on 'Gun Show Purchase Form'

At the last two Charlotte gun shows, GRNC learned that Chief Rodney Monroe, of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), was attempting to unlawfully record gun sales. Monroe had concocted a “CMPD Gun Show Gun Purchase Form” and had CMPD officers distributing this form at gun shows, demanding its use by dealers purchasing guns from individuals. Internal CMPD communications suggested intent to apply the form to private sales as well. The use of this form would have effectively created a gun and gun-owner registry. Worse, promoters speculated the requirement might spread to other cities.

GRNC 'F.O.G.' LETTER TO CMPD

The “CMPD Gun Show Gun Purchase Form” was distributed under the pretense of applying a statute for “Pawnbrokers and Cash Converters.” The only problem is, vendors and private individuals at gun shows are neither Pawnbrokers nor Cash Converters. Immediately upon learning of the scheme, GRNC president Paul Valone fired off a letter to Chief Monroe to inform him, in no uncertain terms, that the requirement was unlawful and would not be tolerated. Valone cited the law and clearly explained its true meaning. He insisted that the CMPD cease this unauthorized activity immediately, or face legal action from GRNC. (To see the full letter, go to:
  http://grnc.org/grnc-goes-after-local-government-transgressors)

CMPD BLINKS

We are happy to report that Chief Monroe blinked: According to a conciliatory and apologetic call from CMPD Maj. Mike Smathers, CMPD will stop using the form. Facing the threat of legal action, Chief Monroe saw the light, and has agreed to immediately end his illegal data collection at gun shows.

GRNC is pleased to be able to claim victory in this critical battle to ensure cities comply with the law. If this effort by the CMPD was not nipped in the bud, this overreach of police authority may very well have spread to other areas of the state. Said Valone to the media: "We are here to deliver a message that the days when North Carolina bureaucrats could ignore the law and run their own private fiefdoms are over.

4 Teens Charged in Death of WWII Veteran, Hot Tamale King

Via Bob

http://www.dailystormer.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Usual-Suspects.jpg

The king is dead.

Four teenagers are being charged with capital murder in the fatal mugging of 87-year-old Lawrence E. 'Shine' Thornton of Greenville, Mississippi.

‘Shine’ was a World War II veteran and a famous personality in the Delta region for his hot tamales. They were known as ‘Maria’s Famous Hot Tamales’, named after his wife Mary. He was crowned king of the 2012 Delta Hot Tamale Festival.

According to Greenville police, Thornton was killed after being accosted in his own driveway on Oct. 18. He was pushed down and his wallet stolen.

He passed away from his injuries two days later at the University Of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Assistant police chief Andrew Kaho tells the Delta Democrat Times Terrance Morgan and Edward Johnson, both 19; and Leslie Litt and Geblonski Murray, both 18, were arrested in connection with the incident. Each of the four is charged with capital murder, robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

I didn’t know ‘Shine’ Thornton, but his story was well known and documented in the Delta region.
