Va Flaggers Report from the Front Line...Thursday, November 21st, 2013:

16 Flaggers on the Boulevard, forwarding the colors, protesting the desecration of the Confederate Memorial Chapel by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts... and changing hearts and minds in the Capital of the Confederacy.

I'm thinking that right about now... the VMFA is REALLY wishing they had left those two little 3x5 Battle Flags hanging on the Portico of the Chapel! ;)

GOA Alert: Democrats Using Gun Control to Get Focus off ObamaCare

And using Brady Law Anniversary to pressure GOP

“We are going to finish the job and pass background checks and then move on and do other things we have to do to get guns off the streets and stop gun violence.” -- Senator Chuck Schumer, November 13, 2013

Don’t let them get away with it.

Democrats on Capitol Hill want to change the subject, but we can’t let them do it.

The anti-gun aspects of ObamaCare haven’t even been fully implemented yet because the entire “health care” rollout has been imploding -- and it’s taking a huge toll on the President.

The solution?

The Examiner.com reported last week that Democrats are trying to “deflect public attention from a disaster of their own making [on ObamaCare] by shifting the subject to gun control.”

They’re hoping to pressure Republicans on the 20-year anniversary of the Brady Law.  (November 30 marks the anniversary when President Clinton signed the bill into law.)

The Hill reports, “Democrats argue that enough pressure on House GOP leaders would return the topic [of gun control] to prominence.”

You can’t blame them.  As support for ObamaCare continues to plummet -- and the President’s approval rating along with it -- many Democrats are scrambling to get the mainstream media to cover any other topic.

Their first choice is to return to their tired ole gun control agenda like the Toomey-Manchin background checks (for private gun buyers) in the Senate or the identical Thompson-King bill (HR 1565) in the House.  These are unconstitutional and should never see the light of day.

Their second plan to distract the American public is to blow up the Senate rules -- abolishing the filibuster where federal judges are concerned -- so that Democrats can pack the courts with liberal, anti-gunners who will uphold ObamaCare.  Majority Leader Harry Reid successfully accomplished this yesterday, claiming it was necessary because Republicans were supposedly causing gridlock.

You can see that critical Senate vote here, where YEA was the pro-gun, pro-freedom vote to maintain the filibuster.

Finally, Democrats plan to craft small temporary one-year “fixes” for the health care law in order to fool enough Americans into reelecting senators who were the “deciding votes” on ObamaCare:

* Mary Landrieu, the Louisiana Democrat -- who sold her soul to vote for ObamaCare in exchange for a political bribe nicknamed “the Louisiana purchase” -- is currently up in a tough reelection.  She knew how bad ObamaCare was, but she didn’t care until the nation’s pain threatened her reelection.

* Mark Begich, the Alaska Democrat who also cast the deciding vote, also knew Alaskans would suffer. But it didn’t bother him until their suffering threatened his reelection.

* Similarly, several other Democrat Senators -- Kay Hagan (NC), Jeanne Shaheen (NH), Mark Warner (VA), Mark Udall (CO), Mark Pryor (AR) and Jeff Merkley (OR) -- all became “born again skeptics” of ObamaCare when provisions they crafted, knew about, and were indispensable in passing came back to bite them.

All of these senators had a chance to “tweak” ObamaCare during the shutdown fight.  Instead, these Senators were all too busy playing politics -- gleeful at the prospect of declaring total victory over Republicans.

We need to remind them that the only legitimate option is a total repeal of the anti-gun ObamaCare law.  And that a Brady Law anniversary is an excuse to pass more gun control, but rather, a reminder of just how much of our constitutional rights have already been infringed.

ACTION:   Click here to email  your Representative and Senators and urge them to ignore calls for gun control or to settle for a temporary one year ObamaCare “fix.”  Demand that they repeal this anti-gun travesty and stop trying to change the subject to supporting gun control.

The RNC Mocks Democrats By Inviting Them To A “We’re Running On ObamaCare” Press Conference

 Reince
The Republican Party hasn’t exactly been tearing it up on the public relations front lately, but this is BRILLIANT.

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus has invited Democrats running for the Senate in 2014, along with a number of Democrats running for reelection to the House, to participate in a “We’re Running On ObamaCare” press conference on Thursday.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) says they are “eager and proud to run on ObamaCare,” and Nancy Pelosi says Democrats will “stand tall” on ObamaCare. Because Republicans also look forward to making the 2014 election about ObamaCare, the RNC has offered to give individual candidates a platform to speak for themselves and voice their support for the unpopular law.

They will also have the opportunity to take a picture in front of a banner reading “Eager and Proud to Run on ObamaCare in 2014,” which the RNC will be happy to post online and use in advertisements.

New Benghazi photos surface as questions raised whether State withheld evidence

Via Angry Mike

The State Department has belatedly released dozens of photos of the aftermath of last year’s terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi after The Washington Times inquired about the authenticity of photographs it received from a Welsh security contractor assigned to the doomed American outpost in eastern Libya.

Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group, had requested all photos and videos of the besieged diplomatic mission under the Freedom of Information Act in December and February, and the State Department released only seven photographs in June.

But this week, after weeks of inquiries by The Times about photos it received, the State Department released a trove of photographs showing buildings and vehicles ablaze during the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attack that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. Other photos show ransacked offices, burned-out cars and Arabic graffiti scrawled on walls.

The State Department said it had forwarded the photographs to the FBI for its investigation into the attack and submitted them to the accountability review board, the independent panel that conducted the State Department’s mandatory probe of the Benghazi incident and events leading up to it. The department also shared the photographs with members of Congress looking into the Obama administration’s response to the attack.

Judicial Watch was incredulous over the sudden release of never-before-published photographs and criticized the State Department for withholding requested videos of the attack and its aftermath.

“The new photos reveal a level of total devastation thoroughly belying Obama’s original cover story that the carnage was perpetrated by a bunch of random malcontents upset over an unpleasant video,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said Wednesday on the group’s website. “The fact that we’ve had to wait nearly a year and file a federal lawsuit for basic documentary material of the attack shows that this administration is still in cover-up mode. And now the Obama administration brings the Benghazi stonewall to a whole new level by withholding video of the attack using frivolous arguments such as ‘privacy.’”

Rep. Frank R. Wolf, Virginia Republican, expressed outrage over the State Department’s delay in providing materials requested under the Freedom of Information Act.

WE'RE IN THE VERY BEST OF HANDS: Enrollment Data Entered Into Healthcare.gov Available in Google Search Results

Some rascal online called it IdentityTheft.gov and that assessment appears to have been validated by a top security research team. The Ohio firm TrustedSec has released a security assessment of Healthcare.gov and the results, even though they were cursory by modern standards, were very grim indeed.

David Kennedy, CEO of the firm, revealed that he withheld many of the vulnerabilities because they were so severe that publishing them could have meant the complete destruction of the site. His executive summary read simply, "based on what I can see … I would say the website is either hacked already or will be soon."

I perused the entire report (PDF) this evening. In short, the site is not only a complete catastrophe from an operational perspective, it's also a hacker's dream.

McConnell: Tea Party 'Bullies' Who Need Punch in Nose

Via avordvet

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on a conference call organized by Karl Rove’s Crossroads organization for large donors and their advisers on Oct. 30 that the Tea Party movement, in his view, is a “nothing but a bunch of bullies” that he plans to “punch … in the nose.”

On the call, according to a donor who was on it, McConnell personally named Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) as Tea Party conservatives he views as problematic for him. “The bulk of it was an attack on the Tea Party in general, Cruz in particular,” the source, a prominent donor, said in a phone interview with Breitbart News.

But the most memorable line came at the end of the call.

“McConnell said the Tea Party was ‘nothing but a bunch of bullies,’” the source said. “And he said ‘you know how you deal with schoolyard bullies? You punch them in the nose and that’s what we’re going to do.’”

Louisiana 'Drops Out' of Common Core Education Standards

Via avordvet

Louisiana State Superintendent of Education John White announced Thursday the state would drop out of Common Core State Standards Initiative, the federal government's rigorous grade-by-grade educational standards, for at least two years, The Times Picayune reported.

Instead of Common Core's English and math expectations, White said the state would be shifting to "a long-term, 10-year view of what our education system can accomplish with these standards."

The announcement came after months of pressure from parents, teachers, and political groups urging the state to delay or drop the standards all together, the newspaper said.

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan was lambasted for blaming the growing opposition to the controversial Common Core state education standards on wealthy "white" mothers upset to learn their children are not as bright as they thought."

Cruz: Democrats Want to Pack D.C. Court To Save Obamacare

Image: Cruz: Democrats Want to Pack D.C. Court To Save Obamacare

The White House is trying to save Obamacare by packing the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C., with judges who will rubber stamp its "lawless behavior," Texas Sen. Ted Cruz says.

Senate Democrats, according to Cruz, enacted "the nuclear option" to prevent filibusters against appellate court nominees in order to make it difficult for Republicans to repeal the disastrous Affordable Care Act, Obama's signature healthcare legislation, The Hill reported.

"The heart of this action is directed at packing the D.C. Circuit (court) because that is the court that will review the lawless behavior of the Obama administration implementing Obamacare," said Cruz, a leading force in the government shutdown last month in a confrontation over the Affordable Care Act.

McAuliffe Already Making Moves on Gun Control in Virginia

Terry McAuliffe won't take his place as the Governor of Virginia until January, but he isn't wasting any time when it comes to getting ahead on his anti-gun agenda. During the campaign, McAuliffe advocated for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and standard capacity magazines. Now, he's hired Lori Haas, the Virginia State Director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence [CSGV], to help with his transition team. Haas' daughter was shot during the Virginia Tech massacre in 2007. More from the DC:
Despite claiming support for the Second Amendment, Haas’s appointment to this position to help assemble his Administration sends a very clear message to gun owners and sportsmen in Virginia that their rights are already under attack in Richmond.
CSGV is an extremist group that demands harsher gun control restrictions and laws than the Brady Campaign. Their activists have advocated for the criminilization of private gun ownership, limited magazine capacity and gun bans. They've also made the NRA their number one target. Here's more from their website:

Common Core Book Teaches Children White Voters Rejected Obama Because of Race

Via Cousin John

 obama common core
Rejected him because he is a Communist, a fact only imbeciles deny.

"And Now, After Sending Our Best Young Men To Die On distant battlefields fighting Communism, we may simply vote a Marxist into our highest office."
23 July 2008

**********************************************

Fourth graders in Dupo Illinois are reading a biography of Barack Obama by author Jane Sutcliffe. The book teaches children that white voters rejected Obama because of race.

What absolute BS.

The Illinois Review reported:

The book – brought to the attention this week of those on the “Moms Against Duncan – MAD” Facebook page, goes on to say white Americans were hesitant to vote for a black president, and that Obama pushed the race issue to bring the nation together.

“But some people said Americans weren’t ready for that much change. Sure Barack was a nice fellow, they said. But white voters would never vote for a black president. Other angry voices were raised. Barack’s former pastor called the country a failure. God would damn the United States for mistreating its black citizens, he said.

Pentagon requests plan to close stateside commissaries

Via Carl

"Here’s a 4th option…quit giving money to countries that want to kill us.  That would save over $500 billion annually."

Tasked by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel to find ways to preserve force readiness amid sharply falling budgets, his comptroller and the Joint Staff have asked the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) for a plan to close all stateside base grocery stores, say military resale community sources.

Time will tell if this is just the loudest warning shot yet fired by a department desperate for budget relief, or if stateside commissaries, still enormously popular with military families and retirees, are viewed by current military leaders as a costly relic burdening a financially stressed force.

Under Secretary of Defense Robert Hale, the department’s top financial adviser, and Air Force Lt. Gen. Mark F. Ramsay, director of force structure, resources and assessment for the Joint Staff, reportedly requested the plan in a meeting with military personnel policy and commissary officials.

It was to be briefed soon to Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton Carter and Adm. James Winnefeld, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Boeing to Partly Move Production Out of Washington State Following Union Vote

Via NC Renegade

'Build it Here' rally against Boeing in Seattle / AP
Cut off your nose to spite your face.  Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Boeing will move portions of its airplane construction out of Washington after a local union rejected a contract offer that would have saved the company $8 billion.

A company spokesman told the Washington Free Beacon that the company had no choice but to move construction of some of its largest planes out of the Evergreen State after International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 751 rejected changes to wage and retirement plans.

“Since the union rejected the offer, we were forced to pursue all options for locating the 777X,” Boeing spokesman Doug Alder Jr. said. “That process is actively underway, although we are not disclosing which locations we are considering.”
