Flight 93 Factor
While police departments become more militarized with tanks, armor and
drones and federal government bureaucracies arm themselves with billions
of rounds of ammunition (including the Post Office), it leaves the
average American with a sense of dread.
It can not be for self-defense; no one is attacking them. There is no great crime-wave and where crime is worse; more prolific, the cops don't seem to go. To be honest, with all of the increased firepower, ammunition and drones at their disposal it is difficult to understand how they have not had any impact on the crime rate at all.
Perhaps it is because these new tactics and powers are not being used to fight crime, but to be prepared to fight us: the American citizen. That is the dread one feels when they see black cars with heavily-armed men in sunglasses roll down the street. It is an image of gut revulsion, because it is so far from the Andy Griffith image of the 1960's when per capita crime was much higher.

Powerline blog publishes a letter from Bill Henck, a career IRS man affirming through anecdote that the “culture” at the IRS enables corruption and abuse by men of ill will.
From his letter:
I have been an attorney in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel for over 26 years. Over a number of years, I have attempted, largely unsuccessfully, to alert the public to abuse within the IRS. One of my kids suggested that I contact a blog and Power Line has graciously agreed to publish this account.
I do not personally know whether the IRS has targeted conservative groups or individuals, but I do know that the environment within the agency is ripe for such activity and there is nothing to prevent it from occurring. As stated in more detail below, I have personally witnessed improper giveaways of billions of dollars to taxpayers with inside access at the agency, bullying of elderly taxpayers, the cover-up of managerial embezzlement and misappropriation of thousands of dollars in government funds, and a retaliatory audit. I have also heard credible accounts of, among other things, further improper giveaways, blatant sexual harassment, and anti-Semitism. All of these matters have been swept under the rug.Mr. Henck, your letter comes off as an attempt by a career Stasi paper pusher to disassociate himself from the more malevolent actors in his agency before the fall of The Wall is complete and the mobs come to sack Stasi HQ to begin the retribution.

NC: Confederate .999 Silver Medallion Commemorating the Sesquicentennial
To Commemorate the Sesquicentennial and at the same time.........acquire a keepsake that can be passed down for generations I am commissioning a .999 fine silver coin/medallion marking the occasion. This will not be a .........money making venture. We are not attempting to make a profit, but only to do something for our members. The coin will be sold for the cost of the metal, plus our production cost. The price per coin will be $34. The coin will have The Great Seal on the back and a raised relief of the Shenandoah on the front. It will also have, "War For Southern Independence Sesquicentennial, 2011-2015"
The Shenandoah destroyed more Union commerce than any other ship except for the Alabama. It is a symbol of pride for the Confederacy and the State of NC because the ship never did surrender to the US Government and it's captain was NC native, James I. Waddell.
The coin will come in a plastic case which will protect its proof status and each coin will be numbered on it's edge. This is a rare opportunity to acquire something like this at cost.
The deadline for ordering is February 14th.
Anyone interested, contact me please.
NC: " Racist Moral Marchers Demand Photo ID"
Typical liberal thinking.
Bused-in activists and professional agitators, including the NC $$ are in Raleigh, North Carolina, for the so-called "Moral March" - morality being defined as support for progressive causes such as abortion rights, and minimum wage hikes, and opposition to "racist" voter ID requirements.
Problem is, one of the important do's on the list of Do's and Don’ts for Marchers, is for them to bring a “driver’s license, passport or other valid photo id” to the march, and make sure they have their photo ID handy “at all times.”

MAYOR: NATIONWIDE GUN CONFISCATION IS GOAL OF MAYORS AGAINST ILLEGAL GUNS
A current New York mayor has publicly announced his decision to leave Mayors Against Illegal Guns because the gun control group demands an all-out “confiscation of guns from law-abiding citizens.”
Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg co-founded Mayors Against Illegal Guns in 2006 to promote gun control.
Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg co-founded Mayors Against Illegal Guns in 2006 to promote gun control.
In an announcement published by his city’s newspaper, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Mayor John C. Tkazyik said he quit the group after realizing it was simply a vehicle for Michael Bloomberg to “promote his personal gun-control agenda.”
“It did not take long to realize that MAIG’s agenda was much more than ridding felons of illegal guns,” he stated. “Under the guise of helping mayors facing a crime and drug epidemic, MAIG intended to promote confiscation of guns from law-abiding citizens.”

The Jacobin Machine in Command
In 1861 the men of the South saw the encroaching federalization of the States and the abrogation of State supremacy. Because they had the firearms to do so, they resisted that tyranny. But because they lacked the industrial strength found in the Union, it was a struggle they were doomed to lose. And, when they lost, America lost. From the conclusion of that conflict, the federal government was deemed to be the superior government, with the States subservient to its whim.

Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman
North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission
"Unsurpassed Valor, Courage and Devotion to Liberty"
"The Official Website of the North Carolina WBTS Sesquicentennial"
The Jacobin Machine in Command:
In the Senate [Benjamin] Wade voiced his conviction that the final triumph of the Jacobin revolution was at hand. No longer was the war being prosecuted for the vain and empty purpose of restoring the Union with slavery intact, he boasted. The Republican party, he cried, would force the southern States to purge themselves of all the iniquities of their social system before it permitted them to come back into the Union: “We will govern them until they do right . . . “
Wade
offered a resolution to invoke reprisals . . .carried out by men who
had suffered in Confederate prisons. He avowed himself willing to accept
any measures of retaliation: “I will make the South a desolation, and
every traitor shall lose his life . . . “
Now
in the early months of 1865 it was clear to all observers that the
Confederacy would soon collapse. With the approach of victory and peace,
reconstruction became a dominant issue to the exclusion of all other
questions. Upon what terms were the defeated Southern States to be
returned to the Union? The Jacobins had moved far beyond their position
as announced in the Wade-Davis bill. No longer were they content to
accept emancipation as the great result of the war. Now they demanded as
the price of readmission a program which would ensure Republican
control of the South.
They
had no mind to see unrepentant Southern Democrats returning to Congress
and in alliance with their Northern [Democrat] fellows destroying the
economic measures passed by the Republicans during the war: the
protective tariff, the national banking system, and the homestead bill.
They demanded the suffrage for the freed slaves and the
disenfranchisement of a substantial portion of the Southern white
population.
Some of them, like [Thaddeus] Stevens, advocated the distribution of confiscated rebel property among former slaves. They demanded that until their policies became a reality the seceded States be governed by the military as “conquered provinces.” Over the issue of reconstruction Lincoln and the Jacobins fought their last titanic battle. Again the Jacobins were to defeat their great antagonist.”

Paul Singer's "Vision" Of The Coming "Riot Point" And The Fed's "Formula For Destruction"
Dated.
- Paul Singer, Elliott ManagementWe sympathize with traditional stock and bond investors, who are faced with extremely poor choices today. QE has distorted the prices of all traditional asset classes to such an extent that none currently promises a fair return with modest risk.... Because the dominant force in securities-price movements today is government policy, particularly the governmental buying of bonds and stocks, there is a vulnerability to all trading and investing prospects that cannot be assessed or measured with confidence... Since there is no history of Americans losing confidence in the basic soundness of their currency and their government, and since monetary policy today is so manipulative and large, it will be hard to parse the reasons for any particular market moves in 2014.
As always, perhaps the best periodic commentary on the state of the "markets" (even if such a thing has not existed for the past 5 years) and global economy comes from the person whose opinion has not been swayed by fly-by-night screechers and book-peddling pundits who fit in CNBC's octobox and who come fast and are forgotten even faster, and whose 37 year track record at Elliott Management, whose assets he has grown from $1.3 million to $23 billion, speaks for itself:

An AV exclusive interview with James Otis, Jr.: On the police state
Via Jeffery
My recent article on the police state elicited an educated response regarding the history of warrants in our land. In particular, a friend raised the name of one James Otis and related his heroic stand on the issue which led to our Fourth Amendment.
Our era of the “warrior cop,” no-knock warrants, sneak-and-peak warrants, door breaches, flash grenades, and SWAT raids on people’s homes has led many concerned Americans to fear that the Fourth Amendment is all but dead. The moment I learned of Mr. Otis’ work in this area, I knew I must track him down to get his perspective.
Apparently, through a mutual friend on Facebook, Mr. Otis heard I was looking for him. He visited me here at American Vision headquarters and offered me an interview with him. He was eager to retell his story, and what it means for every American who cares about freedom.
While some historical background needs to be explained, I thought it would be best to let Mr. Otis provide it for us as we go. I will add, lastly, that his answers reveal that he seems to have some sections of his famous tract Against Writs of Assistance memorized.

Yancy Baer was visiting the city on behalf of an organization that trains service dogs which are provided to disabled people.
