Some media were quick to be duped by a Cantor-Brat bogus poll language. Keep others informed.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/static.popvox.com/submitted%2Forg%2Fprofilelogo%2F2167.jpeg
If you've been following the news coverage of the Cantor-Brat primary, you've probably seen an uptick in stories about a new poll that supposedly shows voters in Virginia's 7th district overwhelmingly want to pass the Senate amnesty bill -- despite voting for Dave Brat, a man who made his opposition to the bill the centerpiece of his campaign.
Please see my blog on how this poll is successfully duping some of the media, even causing Politico to report a blatant falsehood that somehow made it past the editors.
Both the poll and Politico's interpretation imply that the legislation requires enforcement before legalization when in fact the truth (as Senators Schumer and Rubio will tell you) is exactly the opposite.
The poll is worded to falsely imply (without explicitly lying) that the Senate bill is enforcement-first. But Politico actually reported that unauthorized aliens would have to wait 13 years to get legal status.
Think about how many people have been misled by that error.
The error is likely an honest mistake born of ignorance. Nearly a year after the Senate passed S. 744 there has been almost no acknowledgment from the mainstream media that the bill grants legal status and work permits before any prevention measures are put in place to ensure future limits are observed. Low-information voters are the targets of these polls, but the media that keeps them that way are susceptible to manipulation as well.
Spread the word everywhere you see this poll

“1 marine for 20 million illegals.” (Wetbacks)

A small group of demonstrators rallied Thursday outside the Mexican Embassy to protest for the release of a former Marine who is in a Mexican prison on firearms charges.

Organized by the Conservative Victory PAC, the protesters demanded that former Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi be released from prison in Tecate by Sunday or else they will stage protests along the U.S.-Mexico border and lobby businesses and citizens to boycott Mexico. They carried picket signs saying “Free our Marine” and “1 marine for 20 million illegals.”

Mr. Tahmooressi, who suffers from post traumatic stress disorder, accidentally crossed into Mexico border with three legally owned firearms. When he alerted Mexican officials of his predicament, he was taken into custody April 1 and has since been detained there.

Blatant Lies: Confiscation and Rebellion

 http://cdn.bearingarms.com/uploads/2013/08/Sniper_rifle-e1377652405349.jpg

In the same interview where President Barack Obama blatantly lied about background checks, he praised Australia’s gun control laws, which Charles  C.W. Cooke notes relied entirely upon confiscation:
Let me be clear, as Obama likes to say: You simply cannot praise Australia’s gun-laws without praising the country’s mass confiscation program. That is Australia’s law. When the Left says that we should respond to shootings as Australia did, they don’t mean that we should institute background checks on private sales; they mean that they we should ban and confiscate guns.
When President Obama praises gun confiscation, he’s praising the blatantly unconstitutional infringement of the Second Amendment by the federal government. Let’s not mince words here: he’s supporting a policy, that if he or any future government attempted to implement it, will lead to a nationwide armed insurrection that would likely destroy our government and our way of life.

Bad News: UN Disabilities Treaty has Returned—Stronger than Ever

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,

We have bad news. The dangerous UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), that you narrowly defeated through calls and emails in 2012, has returned. It has come back stronger than ever, and its supporters are preparing to ram it through the U.S. Senate.

This United Nations treaty says “in all actions concerning children with disabilities, the best interests of the child shall be a primary consideration.” Not “parental rights,” as our U.S. Supreme Court has ruled. But “best interests of the child,” a legal term only used during divorce and abuse and neglect cases. Government officials could use this section to override parental decisions for their child with a disability. Other provisions of this treaty threaten U.S. sovereignty, promote abortion rights, and require a national registry of all children with disabilities (the term “disability” isn’t even defined).

Freedom at Risk

The UNCPRD isn’t about protecting people with disabilities—our nation’s own laws and strong leadership overseas already do this. It’s about whether we will surrender our freedom to an unelected, unaccountable United Nations.

You defeated this treaty in December 2012. But the supporters were looking for a way to win the second time and ratify the UNCRPD. And they believe they have found it with the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Bond v. United States, which was issued last weekOnly three justices—Scalia, Thomas, and Alito—brought this issue up. And they—like HSLDA—are very worried about how treaties can threaten our system of limited federal government and our constitutional freedoms. We encourage you to read the decision here. You can read the concurring opinions of justices Scalia, Thomas, and Alito starting after page 21.

Aggressive Lobbying

Supporters of the UNCRPD such as Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Menendez (NJ) seemed to not even have read this decision in their haste to urge ratification of this United Nations treaty. In the days since the decision, countless organizations have issued press releases calling for swift ratification of the UNCRPD. Supporters of the treaty are aggressively lobbying on Capitol Hill at this very moment. This treaty is roaring back, possibly as early as the week after Independence Day.

HSLDA’s federal relations staff and our allies are fighting back on Capitol Hill as hard as we can. But ultimately, only you can stop this treaty. We ask that you immediately take a moment to email your two U.S. senators and urge them to protect our nation’s sovereignty against the United Nations, to protect parental rights, and to vigorously oppose the UNCRPD. If you have the time to send a letter, that would be even better.

We know emails and letters take time. But this battle is crucial. Let’s hold off on phone calls for now so we can save that powerful action for when a vote is scheduled. But please make your voice heard by sending a letter or email in your own words. Then please forward this email to three of your homeschool friends and ask them to do the same.

You can find the addresses of your two U.S. senators by using HSLDA’s Legislative Toolbox, and you can send an email to your two U.S. Senators at this page. You can find out more about the dangers of the UNCRPD on our website.

Thank you for standing with us to preserve our freedom in the face of the United Nations and transnationalists in the U.S. Senate. This is going to be a tough fight. By the grace of God and the tireless work of parents and concerned citizens like you, this treaty was defeated in 2012. I believe we can defeat it again.

For liberty,

Michael P. Farris, JD, LLM
Chairman, HSLDA

Moms Demand Action Protest Draws 12 People

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America called on their troops to join the “stroller jam” outside of Targets Shareholders meeting in Dallas to protest open carry in their stores.  Unfortunately for them, a group of 12 showed up.

The dozen women were holding signs that stated, "Texas moms expect more” which is a play on Target’s motto of “Expect More.  Pay Less.”

Neocon Policies Rejected by Public: Polling Shows Big Disconnect

Via Peter

shutterstock_150359162

Good news and bad news: market research confirms most Americans side to one degree or another with former Congressman Ron Paul’s foreign policy. Bad news? The neo-cons are still at the switch.

In 2003, with flags flying and trumpets blaring, opinion polls showed some 60 percent of Americans supported the U.S. invasion of Iraq. As doubts about the war became facts, public opinion polls showed a majority opposed the war within two years and that remains the case today. Last year, one survey revealed that 54 percent of Americans believed the U.S. should have stayed out of Iraq right from the start, while just 38 percent said the military incursion was a good idea. Still, the bi-partisan military-industrial complex isn’t budging. In a 2012 address to the Democratic National Committee, President Obama concluded, “Four years ago, I promised to end the war in Iraq. We did.” According to an April 1, 2014 report in Time magazine however, there were 133 U.S. military killed in action and 23,565 Iraqi civilian deaths since the President’s “peace is at hand” proclamation.

President Obama’s 2013 promise of having a “specific plan to bring our troops home from Afghanistan by the end of 2014,” recently morphed into a guarantee withdrawal by 2016 — 20 days before he leaves office. However, in a November 2013 survey, just over half of U.S. voters wanted all troops out of Afghanistan by 2014 and no military personnel left behind for support or training. A month before, another poll revealed that only 19 percent of Americans thought we could win the war in Afghanistan.

How to Effectively Beat A Red-Light Camera Ticket

IMG 0002 1024x884 How to Beat a Photo Enforced Speeding Ticket (or Red Light Ticket)

Last year I received a letter in the mail from the Washington D.C DMV claiming I was speeding. As you can see it was one of those Photo-Enforced Speeding Tickets and they had multiple pictures of my CAR. I knew better to just submit and pay a fine like the majority of people do in this country, unfortunately. I am in the habit of not taking “plea deals”, and I am always in the habit of fighting my tickets and NOT pre-paying them so I don’t have to go to court – like many folks do. I just about always record my interactions with the police, whether it’s a traffic stop or not, that way it keeps the entire situation objective, transparent and I can hold the public servant accountable if he/ she violates my rights.

Officer opens fire on teenage couple caught ‘messing around’ in school parking lot

Via Nancy

(Source: Wikipedia Commons)

Two teens sharing a private moment in a school parking lot were chased away in a hail of gunfire by an armed campus cop.

The disturbing incident took place when a boy and girl parked in the darkened lot of Eliot Elementary School at 1:30 a.m. on May 25th. The overnight patrol officer saw the car and initiated a confrontation.

The teens were caught "doing something that they shouldn’t have been doing" according to Chris Payne, an official from Tulsa Public Schools (TPS).

The officer demanded the embarrassed teens produce identification and started asking questions that they reportedly did not want to answer. The young male, 17, evaded the questions when he allegedly tried to drive away.  In response, the TPS officer drew his weapon and opened fire.

The vehicle was struck in the rear left tire but neither of the teens were hit. The officer claimed his life was somehow in danger from the motion of the vehicle.  It is unclear how attempting to kill a driver while a vehicle is moving could have improved his safety. Even if the officer succeeded in killing the driver, the vehicle would have kept moving and the supposed threat would continue to exist.  Shooting at moving vehicles is categorically irresponsible in nearly every circumstance.

2.5 Hour DYNO TUNE = 337.9 HP & 405.4 TORQUE

Re-post NamSouth

 2004 Tyrant Lincoln LS Sport V-8 242CI (3.9)

Factory tune run produced 229.2 HP and 245.3 TORQUE. The "Blue Line" run of 251.3 HP and 286.2 TORQUE was a "HARD SHIFT PERFORMANCE TUNE." The "RED LINE" run of 337.9 HP and 405.4 TORQUE was with a 100 shot of dry nitrous. The graph shows spark misses which the tuner told me was caused by the plug gap. I gapped them down from 44 to 37, but he said they should be gapped between 32 and 34.

If you want the best man to get the most out of a tune go to Fastlane Motorsports. The owner's son got 405.4 pounds of rear wheel torque out of my little 242CI which was about 30 more than anyone else has ever gotten with just a stock 242CI motor, performance tune and a 100 shot of nitrous. There is a guy who has gotten over 800 RWHP out of this motor, but this involved a lot of money and labor.
