Granny’s Baby-Blue Buick Special

 Book Front Cover 001

One of my favorite Coastal events is Cruisin’ The Coast. Each year I look Forward to the passing parade of jazzy, colorful cars sprinting along the highways and byways of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

As I sit in my lawn chair on Hwy 90, I’m also entertained by the attire many of the drivers and their riders wear. I especially like seeing a vintage car sporting a lovely lady resplendent in a silk head scarf and and a pair of cat-eye sunglasses, their rhinestones catching the glistening sunlight. A driver complete with a splashy Hawaiian shirt and Bermuda shorts, plus a Montecristo cigar, always rounds out the picture. But of all the classy cars zipping around with their spiffy riders, there’s one that I look for most of all: a 1949, baby-blue Buick Special.

A possible forewarning........

....... from an honorable man.  Things certainly have been quiet lately.

I emailed -------- last evening saying things are way too quiet out there and I have had a very bad feeling of late. Thought it might just be the world being close to flames and the powers that be seem to be content to just stand back and fan the flames. Or perhaps with the porous borders and so many Islamic fundamentalists with passports and our politically correct TSA  stopping and searching grandmothers in wheel chairs and small white children but avoiding the obvious potential threat that we were very likely to see an anniversary unlike any we have seen on 9-11. Until late last evening or more accurately early in the morning I could not put my finger on what was bothering me but now I think it may be much bigger than what I thought.

I don't speak of this to many people because most believe it is pure bunk but over the years I have become more of a believer. My wife was brought up Catholic but was born again and baptized 20 some years ago at a small Pentecostal church when we were still living in --------. I did not attend the church myself on a regular basis as there were parts of the followings of the Pentecostal churches that had a hard time wrapping my head around but at her baptism she spoke in tongues. I had seen some of the other members of the church speak in tongues during service as if processed. Like I said I was brought up Episcopalian and as an adult my wife and I most often attended either a nondenominational church or a Presbyterian church so this was foreign to me.

Neither of us have attended a Pentecostal type church in over 20 years but from time to time the Spirit seems to still come upon my wife and she speaks in tongues. Most notably during the birth of our youngest daughter as I remember. It has never come upon her in church since she was baptized but a few times I can remember her doing so at night and sometimes since I go to bed earlier than she does I thought she was having a bad dream. And she knows the skeptic in me so have spoken about it in depth only a few times but she claims no control over it when it happens and that it happens when the Spirit moves her.

Last evening I woke up when she came to bed and I was just about to fall asleep again when I had heard her breathing become irregular and soft as she was falling asleep. I felt her body stiffen and she shook and spoke in tongues. I heard a language I had never heard but it was definitely a language and I could make out some repeated words but could make nothing out of what she was saying. It probably only lasted a minute or so but it seemed much longer. When her body relaxed she started weeping and then sobbing and I could feel her shaking.

I put my arm around her to comfort her and asked her what was wrong. She continued to weep although softly and said "No, no, no not now. I had hoped it would not be in our lifetime." What she said next chilled me to the bone. She said, "There will be chaos, there will be darkness and there will be so much blood." I pulled her close and said that everything will be alright. She said "No it will not be alright. He told me the time had come and there would be much killing and you will have to be ready. You will have to be ready to kill to if you are to survive. He said the time has come."

I asked her when and all she would say is "The time is almost upon us. Too soon, too soon."

Take it for what you will and it is all I can tell you. I held my wife until she slipped off to sleep as she repeated several times, "I am not crazy. He spoke to me." I lay in bed for quite some time not being able to sleep as I started counting off the things I have put off too long and know I still have to do. I have had an uneasy feeling for sometime now and it has been increasing as of late but after last night I think the time has run out.

All I can say is I harken back to that time when ---------, I and others were all moved at the same time to Ephesians 6:10-18. I am not saying that it is the end of days but I am now 100% sure that we don't have until the Darkness descends upon us. May God be with us all. And like my wife I am not crazy.

Stonewall Jackson Routs Lincoln’s Hessians

After his disaster at Chancellorsville despite two to one odds against Lee, Northern General Hooker retreated northward and was relieved of command.  With Jackson’s corps of 30,000 enroute to his right flank, Hooker unknowingly faced Lee’s thus reduced army of 30,000 with 120,000 men.

Stonewall Jackson Routs Lincoln’s Hessians

“[When] I consider Chancellorsville, one of the most interesting battles of the civil war . . . [never] did the Federals have a better opportunity to crush Lee’s army.  Lee only had Stonewall Jackson’s and A.P. Hill’s Corps.  Longstreet was at Suffolk, two hundred miles away.  Hooker’s army consisted of one-hundred and twenty thousand well-equipped, well-disciplined men, who had the utmost confidence in “Fighting Joe.”

Here we had the finest exhibition of generalship during the war, and it won.

The bulk of Hooker’s army crossed the Rappahannock about fifteen miles above Fredericksburg . . . Jackson’s corps began moving about three o’clock Saturday morning, May 2, 1863, toward Hooker’s right.  About 4PM we reached Hooker’s right flank. We were in a thick woods, and the enemy was two hundred yards in front in an open field. They were making coffee, and evidently unconscious of the presence of so formidable a foe, notwithstanding we had driven their pickets in.

Everything was about ready for the attack. Stonewall Jackson was sitting on a log by our company (B).  Mr. Camp, a good man and Methodist preacher, a member of our company, seeing the attack was imminent, suggested we all kneel while he prayed. Jackson dropped his head, the others likewise. Immediately after the prayer the attack was ordered.

We were right among them before they could turn their cannon on us. They broke, and the rout was complete. We pursued them, killing and capturing them for two miles. Many who were not captured or killed “did not stop south of Baltimore.”

[This enemy] corps was never again reorganized, I understand. All that I saw were foreigners, mostly Germans.”

Welcoming armed customers can attract Second Amendment rights activists, deter crime

The owners of TBonz Steakhouse in Augusta, Georgia, decided to be proactive when Republican Gov. Nathan Deal signed into law one of the most comprehensive pro-gun bills in the country this April, which allowed firearms into the state’s bars and restaurants.

The eatery hung up a “No Guns” sign on its front door. Its customer backlash was so harsh and quick that the steakhouse immediately took down the sign and then posted a mea culpa on its Facebook page.

Your super-government at work: 6000 foreign students vanish into thin air

Your super-government at work: 6000 foreign students vanish into thin air

Since President Obama is dead-set on weakening national security even further by throwing out more amnesty prizes to illegal aliens, maybe he should make the case that his zillion-dollar super-government is too damn stupid to keep track of visa holders anyway, so we might as well just have open borders.  ABC News brings us the latest triumph of bureaucracy from our good friends at the Department of Homeland Security:
The Department of Homeland Security has lost track of more than 6,000 foreign nationals who entered the United States on student visas, overstayed their welcome, and essentially vanished — exploiting a security gap that was supposed to be fixed after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.
My greatest concern is that they could be doing anything,” said Peter Edge, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement official who oversees investigations into visa violators. “Some of them could be here to do us harm.”

Indiana gun shop owner starts Facebook page listing gun free businesses

 http://www.guns.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Screenshot-584.jpg

As some gun control advocates are pushing for businesses to ban guns in their establishments, one Indiana gun shop owner is pushing back by compiling a list of businesses who have banned guns, essentially helping like-minded consumers to tell these establishments, “No Guns = No Money.”

Steve Ellis, owner of Top Guns in Terre Haute, started No Guns = No Money last week, a Facebook page dedicated to listing businesses that ban guns. The page quickly gained popularity and more than 1,200 “likes” in just over a week.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famer Richie Furay: Don't Tread On Me

In an interview with WND, Furay, who has been a pastor for three decades at Calvary Chapel in Broomfield, Colorado, said he sees the “polarization of the right and left, just tearing us apart.”

He said the lyrics just started to “come to mind,” and he realized he was trying to tell the story of the “sadness, disappointment, anger, that so many feel over the progressive ideology in this great nation.”

"Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”

Via Cousin Colby

“So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart.

Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”

Atlanta Jewish Times: Israel should consider assassinating Obama

Via Nancy, via Occidental Observer

Andrew Adler, the owner and publisher of the Atlanta Jewish Times, wrote an editorial saying Israel should consider assassinating Barack Obama. He wasn’t necessarily saying that they should assassinate Obama. Only that it should be one option on the table.

Here’s how Adler laid out “option three” in his list of scenarios facing Israeli president Benjamin Netanyahu (the column, which was forwarded to us by a tipster, isn’t online, but you can read a copy here):
