Did Hitler Want War?

 http://www.toqonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/unwar-198x300.jpg

On Sept. 1, 1939, 70 years ago, the German Army crossed the Polish frontier. On Sept. 3, Britain declared war.

Six years later, 50 million Christians and Jews had perished. Britain was broken and bankrupt, Germany a smoldering ruin. Europe had served as the site of the most murderous combat known to man, and civilians had suffered worse horrors than the soldiers.

By May 1945, Red Army hordes occupied all the great capitals of Central Europe: Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Berlin. A hundred million Christians were under the heel of the most barbarous tyranny in history: the Bolshevik regime of the greatest terrorist of them all, Joseph Stalin.

What cause could justify such sacrifices?

This is good: The Externalization of Responsibility: Monica Lewinsky’s Personal Shame

 Ol' juicy lips herself........

Today’s headlines via Drudge:

This raises a subject long overdue for discussion. The Internet is merely a tool — a very powerful tool, but still just a tool. For Monica Lewinsky to depict herself as “Patient Zero” in an epidemic of “cyberbullying,” as she has done, inspires several questions: Was she genuinely a victim? What does the phrase “cyberbullying” mean? How innocent must a victim be, in order for their victimhood to be genuine? In the context of online disputes like #GamerGate, how do we determine who is the victim and who is the bully? Is it possible that our prejudices, including the set of prejudices we call “political correctness,” may prevent us from accurately assessing responsibility for these conflicts?

Here’s the thing: Monica Lewinsky committed perjury.

The Remarkable Robert E. Lee

In March of 1870 General Robert E. Lee began his two-month journey to visit two family graves – daughter Annie and that of his father, “Light Horse Harry” Lee of Revolutionary War fame.  He wrote his son Fitzhugh that “I wish to witness Annie’s quiet sleep . . . and to feel that her pure spirit is waiting in bliss in the land of the blessed.”
Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman
North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission
"Unsurpassed Valor, Courage and Devotion to Liberty"
"The Official Website of the North Carolina WBTS Sesquicentennial"

The Remarkable Robert E. Lee

“The train now puffed into North Carolina . . . With only a ninth of the South’s population, North Carolina had furnished a fifth of all the soldiers who fought, and a fourth of all that died in action.

[Scalawag Reconstruction Governor] Holden would be impeached for “high crimes and misdemeanors,” found guilty and removed from office.

"Holden's impeachment is demanded by a sense of public virtue and due regard to the honor of the state. He is an exceedingly corrupt man and ought to be placed before the people as a public example of a tyrant condemned and punished."

[A staunch Republican] admitted: “One of the greatest evils affecting society in North Carolina is the incompetent and worthless State and federal officials now in power. They are for the most part pestiferous ulcers feeding upon the body politic.”

[At Charlotte] the ovation was overwhelming. By now, word had been flashed ahead by railroad telegraphers. The General, moving south on the Charlotte, Columbia, and Augusta Railroad, would soon be in South Carolina.  On they rolled over the clicking track, into the deeply wounded and largely unreconstructed Deep South.  Lee watched the landscape change, smelled the west spring flowers, saw the woodlands rich in magnolia trees and red buds . . .

If the physical situation was lovely, the human landscape was not.  Sidney Andrews, an early visitor, had found in South Carolina “enough woe and want and ruin and ravage to satisfy the most insatiate heart.” [The enemy] had done more damage in South Carolina, pillaging a path across the State forty miles wide.

A New York Herald correspondent who followed the whole campaign wrote:

“As for wholesale burnings, pillage and devastation committed in South Carolina, magnify all I have said of Georgia some fifty-fold, and then throw in an occasional murder, ‘jis to bring an old hard-fisted cuss to his senses,” and you have an idea of the whole thing.”

Corruption still permeated Statehouse, courthouse, courtroom and city hall.  Dixie had been subject to such immorality and private plundering that government seemed transformed into an engine of destruction.

The antics of the South Carolina [Reconstruction] legislature scandalized the nation. Having installed two hundred six richly embossed cuspidors, the carpetbaggers and Negroes stripped he cupboard clean.  “They took everything they desired,” noted the Senate clerk, Josephus Woodruff, “from swaddling cloth and cradle to the coffin and the undertaker.” The “Rule of the robbers” had begun and it would last long after General Lee had come and gone.

Lack of ability, as well as lack of morality, brought on the sorry mess. In South Carolina’s 1868 Convention, seventy-six of the delegates were newly-emancipated Negroes, of whom only seventeen were taxpayers.  Their governor, Ohio-born R.K. Scott, was induced to sign one of the more notorious pieces of legislation while he was intoxicated.

Knowing some of these things, Lee must have been sick at heart as he pulled into decimated Columbia.  Rain was pouring down.  Confederate veterans, used to rainy musters, defied the weather and marched smartly to the railroad station. Alexander Haskell, who had commanded the Seventh South Carolina Cavalry, was there; so was General Porter Alexander who had conducted the Gettysburg bombardment preceding Pickett’s Charge.

After the usual acclaim and bravado, the train continued its journey westward through Lexington and Aiken counties toward the Georgia border. Besides all her man-inflicted woes, Georgia had suffered almost total crop failures in 1865 and 1866.  Natives had tried to survive on roots and berries; the weak had starved to death.  The stately rice plantations had disappeared, along with the larger cotton plantations. The problem was not how to plant new crops, but how to survive at all.

One thing, at least, was left to those who crowded to the stations whenever the train stopped; their respect for Robert E. Lee. What a burden it must have been for him to have realized this! That he could see this, understand it, and yet not be puffed up by pride, is one of the remarkable and admirable features of Robert E. Lee.”

Army Is Guilty Of Discrimination For Barring Transgender From Female Restrooms

 http://www.nationallawjournal.com/image/EM/Tamara-Lusardi-Article-201410231420.jpg

Mind boggling stupidity.

Tamara Lusardi, a transgender who transitioned from male to female, has won his case against the Department of the Army for discrimination and humiliation, based on a report from the U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC).

In 2010, software specialist Tamara Lusardi, was working for the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center as a civilian employee, and announced that he was now officially beginning his transition from male to female. Tamara changed his name and began dressing as a woman, at which point management held a meeting to accommodate Tamara in the workforce. Management supported Tamara and repeatedly stated that they intended to treat her fairly and accommodate in any way possible, yet emphasized that they also wanted to ensure a safe workplace for everyone.

In light of these concerns, Tamara voluntarily agreed to use the executive restroom, given that he had not undergone gender transition surgery and several female employees had expressed serious concern about sharing a restroom with a man presenting as a woman.

However, Tamara didn’t stick to the agreement, using the female restroom on three separate occasions between January and March 2011.

'Popular' football player gunned down lunch mates

Described as a popular student, he was a member of the football team and had just been elected a homecoming prince, representing the freshman class.

But it was 14-year-old Jaylen Ray Fryberg who stood up from his seat at a large round table at the crowded cafeteria at Marysville-Pilchuck High School in Marysville, Washington, Friday morning, pulled a small gun from his pocket and opened fire, dropping several students immediately to the floor, according to an eyewitness.

Death Threats Aimed at Boy, 11, Who Bagged Rare Albino Deer

Death Threats Aimed at Boy, 11, Who Bagged Rare Albino Deer

“Anyone else notice the non-hunters are the ones advocating violence?”
(No surprise to us, I am sure.)

Jordan Browne, one of the hosts of Michigan Out-of-Doors Television, knew the story of 11-year-old Gavin Dingman’s feat in the woods – he bagged a rare 12-point albino buck with a crossbow – would blow up the moment he posted it.

A seasoned outdoorsman and journalist who is acting at the Dingman family’s spokesman, Browne also knew comments would turn more vicious the farther outside of Michigan readers lived. But in an age of social media, the post reached more people than even he imagined, circulating around the globe.

“I was surprised mainly by the personal attacks on an 11-year-old kid they have no association with. When you look at his picture, he looks like the sweetest kid,” Browne told Patch.

Mick Dingman, whose son bagged the rare deer on a father-and-son hunting trip earlier this week, told Outdoor Hub the family’s celebration has turned into an unimaginable nightmare, punctuated by “death threats and everything else that you can imagine.”

NYC Police Commissioner: Ax Attack 'Just Beginning' of Lone Wolf Strikes

Image: Bernie Kerik: Ax Attack 'Just Beginning' of Lone Wolf Strikes

The brutal hatchet attack on New York City police by a self-radicalized Navy veteran is only the beginning of a tidal wave of terrorist attacks about to descend on Americans.

Terrorism experts say that the assault on the four rookie officers by Zale Thompson, 32, of Queens, is not an isolated incident, but one of several jihadist "lone wolf" attacks that already have occurred, and a terrifying harbinger of the horrors that are to come.

"This is just the beginning — there will be more attacks," former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik told Newsmax.

Dem governor threatens to commute sentence of killer of 4 if he’s not re-elected

“That’s a nice little state you go there, Coloradans. It would be a shame if something happened to it.”

That variation of a line used by Hollywood’s rendition of mob shakedown artists captures the essence of a bizarre statement made earlier this month by Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper.

Hickenlooper, a Democrat, is fighting for his political life against Republican challenger Bob Beauprez, a Congressman. According to the latest Quinnipiac University poll the two are virtually deadlocked, with Hickenlooper a statistically insignificant 1-point lead.

Gang Of Men Is Viciously Beating People At Random At The University Of Illinois

Over the last two weekends, a group or groups of black men (Now who would have thunk'.......) have been roving have been roving the streets and beating people completely at random near the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.

Police say the beatdowns are consistent with initiations by big-city street gangs — a phenomenon not typically seen on most Big 10 campuses.

The latest round of maulings occurred in the wee hours of Saturday morning between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., WLS-TV reports.

The attackers — described as black men, perhaps 25 years old, wearing dark clothes — rambled around an area in Champaign, tackling various innocent and unsuspecting people to the ground and kicking them in the head.

You'll Shoot Your Eye Out, Kid -- But It'll Be Awesome

Via Jonathan

I think that there's less of a chance of you shooting your eye out, and more of a chance of you burning your house down -- or the neighbor's house down. I guess burning the neighbor's house down isn't really the worst thing you can do. I mean, you come out ahead because you still have a house, and you got to shoot off some kick-ass rockets.

Reagan aide: South should secede and create a new anti-gay country — called Reagan!

Via Billy

What does conservative columnist and former Reagan aide Douglas MacKinnon see when he surveys the current state of affairs? A world, he says, that’s been “turned upside down if you do believe in traditional values.” Just look, for instance, at those uppity gays and their demand for equal treatment.
“If you happen to refuse to bake a cake for a gay couple because it goes against your religious beliefs, you can be driven out of business,” MacKinnon told right-wing radio host Janet Mefferd yesterday.

“If you’re a football commentator and you happen to just say innocently that maybe I wouldn’t have drafted a gay football player because I wouldn’t want to deal with the distraction, many people on the left will try to drive you out of your job as well.”

1,300 WWII Reenactors Converge at Midway Village

Via Jeffery
A USO show included appropriately attired--and sounding--performers.

Located in Rockford, Ill., Midway Village is an open air museum comprised of 26 Victorian buildings. Once a year, however, it becomes the pivot point of several reenacted WWII battles, as entusiasts from around the nation converge for the largest event of its kind in the Midwest.

Nearly 1,3000 reenactors from 40 states representing soldiers of the US, Great Britain, France, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Italy, and China participated in this year’s event. In addition, about 50 original and recreated vehicles—everything from Jeeps and motorcycles to Kuebelwagens and Kettenkrads—rolled through the village and camps. Heavier vehicles included an M4 Sherman, M22 Locust, M5 Stuart, a Hetzer, Panhard armored car, and many half-tracks, trucks, and field guns.

WWII Days is much more than just a reenactment. A “Behind the Lines” tour on Friday evening guides visitors through the Village to preview the weekend activities. Reenactors labor intensely in the woods, constructing outposts, bunkers, and trench works.  On Saturday, this area opened to the public. Skirmishes occurred in the late morning in the woods and the village.

These were followed by all-out battles, one depicting an Eastern front action complete with Soviet tanks and partisans, and the other, a Western Front with US armored troops clashing with tenacious anti-tank defenses thrown up by Wehrmacht and SS troops. The evening wrapped with a USO-style dance.

American Policing and the Coming Civil War

Via comment by Anonymous on NC: Read Senator Hagan’s Pro-Socialist, Pro-Marxis...

“In keeping silent about evil, in burying it so deep within us that no sign of it appears on the surface, we are implanting it, and it will rise up a thousand fold in the future. When we neither punish nor reproach evildoers, we are not simply protecting their trivial old age, we are thereby ripping the foundations of justice from beneath new generations.”
- Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago 1918-1956

Eric Frein may be the latest installment of a tradition in the American story of outlaws like Eric Rudolph, Troy James Knapp, Jason McVean, and Robert William Fisher, who were able to elude government and its police for years in rural and urban environments. No one is calling them heroes for their misdeeds or misadventures simply Exhibit A of why the over-funded police in America tend to be a lethal clown posse in rural America. “Popcorn” Sutton provides a memorable vignette on how to make the rural trade prosper. I will leave to others to assess what the mindset of Frein may be and the various theories about why he did what he did. I suspect that Frein may be part of a growing subculture in America that despises and loathes the state of American policing today. This small subculture is not comprised of criminals per se but folks who are simply tired of living in the emerging Stasi state that is the USA.
