Cruz: Obama – Boehner Budget Deal Ridiculous, Deceitful, and a Disgrace

Via avordvet

Ted Cruz

Senator Ted Cruz has come out strongly against the Ryan – Obama – Boehner budget deal that was agreed to in the middle of the night between departing Speaker of the House John Boehner, establishment Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and President Obama.

The budget is a two fiscal year agreement that fully funds Obama’s budget priorities, takes spending off the table as an issue in the 2016 election and breaks the spending caps agreed to as part of the 2011 debt ceiling deal that took spending off the table for the 2012 presidential election.

In short, it is a complete surrender to Obama on spending, leaving him free to proceed with a host of anti-conservative policies intended to “fundamentally change America,” without the possibility that a Republican Congress will use the power of the purse to stop him.

  1. I think it makes perfect sense to surrender all at once like this rather than treat us to a serious of 4-5 surrenders during the next two years. It is much more efficient this way.

And it also makes more efficient sense for a few congressional "bosses" to negotiate with the white house and offer their surrender like this. The old way of each member "voting" on bills is so tedious. And the outcomes are so random. For the sake of order and discipline, this way is much better. And since we know already that the Republicans were always going to surrender, There was never any point to theater of making a stand. You can only play that game a set number of times before everyone catches on.

  2. AND...
It is so much more forward thinking to make "deals" that are multi-year so that future congresses don't have to worry about having to make up their own minds about how to spend 5 trillion dollars.

  3. If I was Mark Meadows (R. NC) I'd put forward the "motion to vacate the char"
this afternoon as he threatened to do before Boehner agreed to step down. If I understand it correctly that motion takes precedence over all other business in the house and he could effectively use it to block the budget deal until after the deadline. CH

  4. More confirmation than one needs. Another step toward the Abyss. I wish they'd go full bore and add another 10 trillion, show some balls. Doesn't matter what they do at this point, we're insolvent. Never thought I'd say it but I hope the speed at which this shit show is going will pick up.
