First 1911 Mail box for sale
After my hectic real work schedule opened up some time that I can finish a few things up.
Mail box pistol is made from western red cedar. It is untreated because it does not have to be, but I did stain it to bring out some of the natural grain. ( I am really not interested in machining green treated pine lumber for these.)
That is my government model 1911 next to it for size comparison. (Modeling next to it is my EDC Ruger LCR .357 Magnum I forgot to move while taking picture :)) Its solid weighing in at about 15 pounds.

"The overwhelming majority of Moslems do A) support jihad, and B) think the world should be governed by sharia law."
Via avordvet
I tire of this.
I tire of this.
Of course, we are (quite literally) at war by anyone’s definition — training foreign soldiers, deploying our own, dropping bombs in Iraq and Syria. Our military is aiding the Nigerian government in rooting out Boko Haram. We’ve reportedly spent more than $1 billion in our campaign against ISIS alone. And from Yemen to the Maghreb, Syria to Iraq, Europe to Japan, the groups we’re fighting all claim to (be)s motivated by an Islamist ideology.
Yet, in an interview this weekend with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, Obama was asked to explain why we are not, in fact, at war with Islamic extremism:
“I don’t quibble with labels,” he said. “I think we all recognize that this is a particular problem that has roots in Muslim communities. But I think we do ourselves a disservice in this fight if we are not taking into account the fact that the overwhelming majority of Muslims reject this ideology.”
Point well taken. Most Muslims are not aligned with ISIS and Islamic extremism. That’s why the distinction is right there in the name. We don’t say we are at war with Islam, but radical Islam or Islamic extremism.“Point well taken” my chapped ass.

How vaccine hysteria could spark totalitarian nightmare
Via watchful
Gov. Chris Christie has been vilified
for making a very simple statement – that parents (and presumably
patients themselves) should have the freedom to choose whether to
vaccinate their children. I have been asked for years what I thought
about vaccination, so let me lay out the issues.
Before getting into the science, lets discuss the philosophy:
1. The voices shrieking to forcibly vaccinate people are the same voices shrieking to support a woman’s right to choose abortion under Roe v. Wade. If a woman’s body is sacrosanct, if she has the right to choose to deliver a child or not, if she has total authority over her body, how can she not have the right to accept or refuse a vaccination?
2. Medical ethics are clear: No one should be forced to undergo a medical treatment without informed consent and without their agreement to the treatment. We condemn the forced sterilization of the ’20s and ’30s, the Tuskegee medical experiments infecting black inmates and the Nazi medicine that included involuntary “Euthanasia,” experimentation and sterilization. How can we force vaccination without consent? Vaccination is a medical treatment with risks including death. It is totally antithetical to all ethics in medicine to mandate that risk to others.

Camera footage of the school’s cafeteria and witness reports, however, tell a different story.
“A sheriff’s deputy who reviewed camera footage of the incident wrote in an arrest report that as the student walked by Lemelle in the school’s cafeteria, she could be seen kicking him in the rear,” according to The Advocate.
“The video also showed her slapping the boy on the back of the head, the deputy wrote.

Oh, the irony … Brian Williams, the NBC “Nightly News” anchor who fabricated a story about being shot at by an RPG while in a helicopter in Iraq, is “a member of the Board of Directors of the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation,” according to his bio on the NBC News website.
According to the 990 tax returns for the foundation, Williams has been on the board since at least 2005. He is also listed on the “Board of Directors” page on the foundation’s website.

Three generations of imbeciles are enough
It’s good to see conservatives have gotten back to letting the New York Times choose their nominees for them.
The only silver lining to Mitt Romney being pushed out of the presidential race — temporarily, I hope — is that the media’s preferred GOP candidate, Jeb Bush, is catnip to the stupidest influence-seekers, so Wall Street will be wasting all kinds of money over the next few months.
Most candidates for office at least wait to get elected before betraying voters on immigration, because who doesn’t like surprises?

Brian Williams' Katrina Tales Under Scrutiny After Helicopter Lie
NBC anchor Brian Williams apologized on Wednesday for falsely claiming his helicopter was downed by an RPG during the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and now many are actively fact-checking his other extraordinary claims from over the years.
On Wednesday's "Nightly News," Williams publicly apologized for his "bungled attempt" at thanking soldiers for protecting him in Iraq.
Under heavy scrutiny less than 24 hours after Williams' admission are his tales from Hurricane Katrina.
In one story, he claims he saw a body float by his hotel room window in New Orleans. In another, he claims his five-star hotel was overrun with gangs while he was sick with floodwater dysentery, and was rescued from a stairwell by a police officer.

NC Poll: 69 Percent of Tarheel GOP Voters Aged 18 to 49 Support 20-Week Abortion Ban
Less than two weeks after Rep. Renee Ellmers (R.-N.C.) sabotaged the expected passage of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, 69 percent of North Carolina Republicans aged 18 to 49 support the ban on abortions after 20-weeks asked directly without conditions or nuance in a Townhall/Gravis poll of 782 randomly selected registered GOP voters.
Sixty percent of Republicans aged 50 to 64 support the ban, as do 55 percent of GOP voters older than 65, said Doug Kaplan, the managing partner of Gravis Insights, the Florida-based pollster the executed the poll. The Jan. 31 poll carries a margin of error of 3.5 percent.he said.

‘Oh, She’s Going Down’: Rand Paul Comes Out Swinging Against Loretta Lynch’s Nomination
Sen. Rand Paul will oppose—very publicly—the nomination of U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch to replace Eric Holder as Attorney General of the United States.
The Kentucky Republican is unveiling his opposition to Lynch on Greta Van Susteren’s On The Record program on Fox News.
Earlier Wednesday, in his office in the Russell Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill, Breitbart News watched as the senator’s legal and press team briefed him final time before the interview. Sergio Gor, Paul’s communications director, his press secretary Eleanor May and attorney Brian Darling were all present.
Paul asked the team about Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) question during Lynch’s Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing about whether she’d oppose using a drone to kill an American citizen on American soil.
When Paul heard about her non-answer—she wouldn’t commit that the federal government does not have such authority—he was incredulous. Furthermore, Paul was appalled that Lynch came out in favor of President Barack Obama’s executive amnesty and the use of asset forfeiture—where the federal government seizes people’s property sometimes with flimsy reasoning, something even the Obama administration has offered slight opposition to—and then told his office staff he’s going to oppose her and aim to derail her nomination chances. “Oh, she’s going down,” Paul said to the room.

Well, this month black history is supposed to be celebrated and memorialized. So is Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. Ironic that the two come together in the same month. I notice that during black history month the activities of Martin Luther King are recalled and celebrated, but little is ever said about the accomplishments of people like Booker T. Washington or George Washington Carver. This is in error, unless the real agenda for this month is to promote the civil rights movement instead of showcasing the accomplishments of blacks that really accomplished something worthwhile as Washington and Carver did.

NBC's Brian Williams Fesses Up: His Helicopter Wasn't Shot Down in Iraq
Via Joe
"NBC Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams is recanting his astonishing claim of being aboard a helicopter forced down by a rocket-propelled grenade during the invasion of Iraq in 2003, Stars and Stripes reports.
Television's leading anchor told the newspaper he'd incorrectly remembered the events and was sorry.
"I would not have chosen to make this mistake," Williams told Stars and Stripes. "I don’t know what screwed up in my mind that caused me to conflate one aircraft with another."
Last Friday, Williams' breathtaking story of the downed-aircraft story came during NBC’s coverage of a public tribute at a New York Rangers hockey game for retired soldier Tim Terpak, who had provided security for the grounded helicopters.
"The story actually started with a terrible moment a dozen years back during the invasion of Iraq when the helicopter we were traveling in was forced down after being hit by an RPG," Williams reported.
Nothing to see here, just another lying commie.

Report: Jordan’s King Abdullah Carries Out His First Airstrike On ISIS…

Watch The Most Horrific Video By ISIS Burning POW Jordanian Pilot
The Jordanian pilot from the U.S. led-Coalition Muath Al-Kassasbeh was not given food for 5 days and then is arrayed in front of armed terrorists as if this was part of a Roman arena, to be caged like an animal, and then with professional filming as if it was scripted from a Hollywood movie on how the ancient Romans entertained themselves with human suffrage during the dark pre-Christian history. But this is Muslim reality TV at its best, a plunge into the dark history of Islam.
The POW pilot is then soaked with petrol and set on fire while professionaly filming his slow suffering as a sacrificial offering to Allah and with no remorse to the screaming and melting of a human being. This is not something we suggest you watch, but ask: how can the world stand idly by while we see this and still think that Islam is a peace loving religion? WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK. IT’S PROBABLY THE WORST THING YOU’VE EVER SEEN. IT’S HORRIFYING.

The Battle of Khe Sanh began on January 21, 1968, when forces from the People’s Army of North Vietnam (PAVN) carried out a massive artillery bombardment on the U.S. Marine garrison at Khe Sanh, located in northwest South Vietnam near the Laotian border. For the next 77 days, U.S. Marines and their South Vietnamese allies fought off an intense siege of the garrison, in one of the longest and bloodiest battles of the Vietnam War.

It seems Fox News picked up on the event and almost got the link to TTAG right. As they had run out of gift cards by the time I got there, they handed out IOUs, promising to mail my gift cards. So I left my name and mailing address . . .
Tadaaaa! The cards arrived.

A village pub might have to change its name after becoming embroiled in a race row over their sign that shows a black boy being scrubbed in the bath - by a white couple.
The Labour in Vain, in Yarnfield, Staffordshire, was considered not to be
racist by council equality chiefs who previously asked the traditional pub
to take their sign down.
However, a brewery that has taken over the 166-year-old pub is now considering
changing the name - over fears that could be considered racist too.
A row has since broken out with residents who believe the historic country pub
should keep the title it was first given in the mid-19th century.
Pub regular Jimmy Cawdell, 56, said: "If it goes ahead, which we're sure
it will, it will be political correctness gone mad.
