Charlottesville City Council Strikes 127 Year Tradition in Latest Assault on Confederate History

Since the January announcement that Charlottesville City Councilman Kristen Szacos had proposed an ordinance change that would eliminate the Lee-Jackson City Holiday in Charlottesville, we have shared information about the rich Confederate history of the city.  One of my favorite topics is the presentation of a battle flag to the men of Stuart's Horse Artillery, hand sewn by the ladies of Charlottesville by the Mayor and City Council of Charlottesville, after they managed to turn back the Yankee army, against 5 to 1 odds, and save the city from destruction during the Battle of Rio Hill on February 29, 1864.  There is a good summary here:

Texas town sees crime drop by almost two thirds after firing police, hiring private security

Sharpstown, Texas, a mid-size city near Houston, decided not to renew its contract with the local police department back in 2012. To replace them, the town hired a private security firm, SEAL Security Solutions, to keep the area safe.

The results have been remarkable. “Since we’ve been in there, an independent crime study that they’ve had done [indicates] we’ve reduced the crime by 61% in just 20 months,” said James Alexander of SEAL. He attributes the success to a larger force of officers and more time spent on patrol.

The new contract also saves local taxpayers some $200,000 per year, as SEAL’s services are cheaper than the costs of maintaining the old constabulary. Another benefit, as The Free Thought Project points out, is that private security firms do not have government officers’ near immunity from legal consequences of misconduct and abuse, meaning they’re more likely to be respectful of people’s rights and property.

Airplane-Dropped LaRue PredatOBR Rifle Shoots Down DJI Inspire Drone.

Via Cousin John

To shoot down a drone, LaRue Tactical packaged a pre-sighted and disassembled PredatOBR rifle kit…then dropped it not once, but twice, from an aircraft. The first attempt bounced out of camera range, so the package was dropped a second time. Impact was onto a rocky central Texas terrain bouncing high into the air.

Acting as a friendly ground-asset in a hostile area, Todd Hodnett then retrieved and reassembled the 16" 7.62 LaRue PredatOBR with NightForce 5-25 ATACR riflescope (mounted in a LaRue LT111 QD scope mount). Todd then moved into hasty position and with the first pull of the trigger, shot down a DJI Inspire drone hovering at 203 yards. Todd then continued to engage several steel targets out to 437 yards until all simulated threats were eliminated.

LaRue Tactical is well known for delivering hyper-accurate, highly-reliable AR-based rifles. To see more about LaRue Rifles, and their other fine products, visit: www.LaRue.com.

Sweet Briar with a $94 million endowment is shutting its doors, and people in higher ed should be scared

Unbelievable. Visited here many times when I was young and I know the sickening feeling they must be experiencing as I did when Greenbrier went under.

A women's liberal arts college in Virginia announced Tuesday that the spring 2015 semester would be its last — even though the school still has a $94 million endowment.

Sweet Briar College — located near Lynchberg, Virginia — will close "as a result of insurmountable financial challenges," the school said in a statement.

Sweet Briar administrators cited several trends that informed the decision to close, including the declining number of female students interested in all-women colleges and the dwindling number of students overall interested in small, rural liberal arts colleges.

It's Open Season on the Tech Elite

 Crosshairstwitter

Battles between the corporate allies of hollow nation-states and the gangs and tribes of black globalization are at the center of this century's epochal war.  That war will eventually put the senior executives of US tech and financial companies in the crosshairs.  Here's a good example.  Over the weekend, ISIS threatened the life of Jack Dorsey, a co-founder and Chairman of Twitter.  Why?

Twitter, at the urging of the US government, has been shutting down the accounts of ISIS supporters for months.  So, ISIS supporters responded by making a threat with a nifty graphic:

We told you from the beginning it’s not your war, but you didn't get it and kept closing our accounts on Twitter, but we always come back. But when our lions come and take your breath, you will never come back to life.

NC: Proposed ammunition ban has local gun enthusiasts upset

The Obama administration last week proposed a ban on bullets used in AR-15 semi-automatic rifles.

The AR-15 is the most popular rifle in America, and often a focus of controversy over gun rights.

This time, the controversy it not the gun, but one of the types of ammunition used in it.

The ATF is asking to classify the so-called "green tip" bullets now considered for sport shooting as armor piercing rounds, posing a threat to law enforcement. This would make them illegal to buy, make or sell.

Justin Jones with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office said often times the AR-15 isn't the type of weapon they encounter or worry about.

"We're always concerned about something we can't see. As far as the rifle goes, it's pretty big, we can see it," Jones said.

Obama Unveils National ObamaLaw Plan

Via avordvet

President Barack Obama today introduced his plan for a progressive takeover of state and local policing.

“We have a great opportunity… to really transform how we think about community law enforcement relations,” he said Monday.

“We need to seize that opportunity… this is something that I’m going to stay very focused on in the months to come,” Obama said, as he touted a new interim report from his Task Force on 21st Century Policing.

Obama also instructed his media allies to help federalize policing, and to sideline the critics of centralized policing rules. “I expect our friends in the media to really focus on what’s in this report and pay attention to it,” he instructed.

The Reason Obama Has It Out For Netanyahu May Be More Terrifying Than You Thought Possible

Visiting Israel for the first time several decades ago, I was shocked at being told to report any packages left on buses or park benches because these might be terrorist bombs. To Americans, this then seemed almost unimaginable.

In the wake of 9-11, we in the West are all Israelis now.

We need to wake up and smell the danger that threatens us.

This week, a modern Paul Revere arrived in Washington, D.C., to warn us that “The terrorists are coming” to cities we call home.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu knows this from hard experience as a battle-wounded commando; brother of commando Yonatan killed rescuing skyjacked Israelis in Entebbe, Uganda; and leader of an American ally that faces incessant terrorist attacks.

“A” Student Booted by College Because He was Homeschooled

Jacob Berry, a 22-year-old homeschool graduate from Morgantown, West Virginia, recently encountered a sudden jolt in his career plans.

Homeschooled by his father, Dr. Nathan Berry, and his mother, Mrs. Cynthia Berry, who holds a lifetime teacher’s license in Missouri, Jacob graduated from high school in 2012. Upon graduation, Jacob worked in retail and construction before deciding that information technology was the career for him. He applied to and was accepted at West Virginia’s Bridgeport Junior College this past fall.
It was the perfect choice for him: he could continue working and take classes.

“Bridgeport is a great junior college,” Jacob said. “The schedules are amazing and the teachers really helpful. I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere there.”

Diploma Issues

During the application process the family met with admissions staff and informed them that Jacob had been homeschooled. Jacob’s enrollment agreement, signed by the college president, Ms. Sharron Stephens, even acknowledged his homeschooling background.

His enrollment completed, Jacob eagerly began his studies and finished his first two courses, psychology and Introduction to Computers, in January, receiving A’s in both.

As a requirement for Student Success Strategies, one of his next courses, Jacob met with President Stephens. In the course of the interview, Ms. Stephens rediscovered that Jacob was homeschooled and took issue with his education.

Justice Department Investigation Finds Extensive Racial Discrimination in Ferguson

As though they would come up with any other conclusion........

A Justice Department investigation found sweeping patterns of racial bias within the Ferguson, Missouri, police department – with officers routinely discriminating against blacks by using excessive force, issuing petty citations and making baseless traffic stops, according to law enforcement officials familiar with the report.

The report, which could be released as soon as Wednesday, marks the culmination of a months-long investigation into a police department that federal officials have described as troubled and that commanded national attention after one of its officers shot and killed an unarmed black man, 18-year-old Michael Brown, last summer.

Image result for Lawyer: Department of Justice Shut Down Search For Lois Lerner’s Emails

I sure have.
Every IT-savvy commenter and coblogger was saying that all of these emails are periodically backed up to tapes which are always available.
The IRS kept claiming they weren’t. They claimed they were lost, or missing, or “recycled” every six months.
People not in the IRS kept saying “Bullshit, the point of the tapes is to keep them forever.”
So yes. This new investigator, Mr. Camus, set out to find the tapes which the IRS head swore under oath did not exist and he found them. In two weeks.
This suggests the very real policy that multiple hands at the IRS deliberately lied to Congress in order to end Congress’ search for the tapes, and that they further did not do the minimum due diligence required by law in cooperating with a federal subpoena: As Mr. Camus states, when he went to the storage facility in West Virginia, which is “exactly where you’d expect [the tapes] to be,” the IT people there found them immediately, and furthermore said that no one had ever before asked for the tapes.
Oh, I wouldn’t exactly count on that. After all, these are employees of an out-of-control bureaucracy in an illegitimate government–they lie as a matter of course, without the slightest fear of repercussion or reprisal. Thus:

Things are looking up for the global gun market

The Ruger Mark III Target Rimfire Pistol.

The gun trade is expected to have a more favorable year—even though estimates on its size vary widely—after shooting blanks in 2014.

One proxy for U.S. firearms demand is the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which posted an 8.4 percent year-over-year increase in activity in January. That figure was the second-highest January on record for the 16-year-old system and marked the fourth consecutive monthly increase of year-to-year growth in the FBI's numbers since September 2013.

US travellers set for EU biometric dragnet

Via Jonathan

US citizens and other non-EU nationals who enter Europe will be asked to have their faces image-captured and fingerprints scanned upon arrival at a half-dozen major airports.

The biometric dragnet is part of a pilot test of the EU’s so-called ‘smart borders’ package. Passengers can refuse to give the data for now but there are plans to eventually make it obligatory.

Put Me in Charge of the Welfare State

The national debt now exceeds 18 trillion dollars, almost half added during the Barack Obama administration alone, and is increased by three to four billion every day and neither major political party nor network is talking about it as a national emergency. Who is slated to repay this crippling, gigantic burden—our children—the unborn or those too young to have objected? The ones who laid it on their backs, by spending what they did not have, are now dead, dying, or retiring.

Well, reportedly one of those “new debt slaves,” the so-called millennials, voiced her complaint five years ago, November 18, 2010 with a solution to the problem. When she was born 21 years prior, in 1989, the national debt was only around 2.7 trillion dollars, said then to be crippling and gigantic. In an article entitled “Put me in Charge,” first appearing in the Waco Tribune Herald (author unnamed), she outlined four controversial solutions. They follow:

“Put me in charge of food stamps. I’d get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho’s, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

“Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I’d do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we’ll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, or smoke, then get a job.
