Sheriff Says He Was Shocked When Group of Judges Told Him They Wanted This Display Out of Courthouse
Via Joe
Hanging on the wall inside a Portsmouth, Virginia, courthouse is an American flag display made out of old fire hoses. The flag contains a sign below it that reads, “A Tribute to Public Safety.”
So it’s not surprising that Portsmouth Sheriff Bill Watson says he was shocked when a group of judges apparently told him they not only wanted him to take the flag off the wall in the lobby, they wanted it removed from the courthouse entirely.
“I just can’t believe that they don’t want to display the American flag in a courthouse, I mean that’s the most asinine thing I’ve ever heard in my life,” the sheriff told WTKR-TV.

Professors: US flag symbolizes racism, should not be displayed on campus
Via Susan
" Hmmm...banning a flag because someone claims it's 'racist' and because it might 'offend' somebody... sounds vaguely familiar... WHERE have we heard that before...?!
For all those who sit quietly by while they continue to attack, remove, and censor Confederate flags, on the SAME FALSE PRETENSES... the chickens have come home to roost...
A group of university professors has signed a letter showing their solidarity with students who tried to ban the American flag at the University of California, Irvine – because they said Old Glory contributes to racism.
“U.S. nationalism often contributes to racism and xenophobia, and that the paraphernalia of nationalism is in fact often used to intimidate,” read a letter obtained by the website Campus Reform.

VA manager's email mocks veteran suicides

A manager at the Roudebush Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Indianapolis appears to mock the mental health problems of returning combat veterans in an email to her employees.
The email obtained by The Indianapolis Star contains photographs of a toy Christmas elf posing as a patient in what appears to be the hospital's transitional clinic for returning veterans. In one photograph, the elf pleads for Xanax. In another, he hangs himself with an electrical cord.

County nixes Confederate Memorial holiday

"Shame on the elected officials Cullman County who felt it necessary
to bend down and kiss the big toe of 'political correctness'. I hope it
tasted good to them because I feel a backlash is coming from their
constituents that will be quite bitter.
I would
say this is par for the course. Maybe they can escape to the
controversial 1.3 million dollar dilapidated lake home recently
purchased by the Cullman County Board of Education. I'm sure someones
palm got greased in that deal."

It is sad that our veterans and those who fought for Alabama no longer mean anything to the officials in Cullman County.

Cullman County will
no longer recognize Confederate Memorial Day as a state holiday and
will close offices for Good Friday instead.
On Tuesday, the Cullman County Commission approved a resolution to do away with Confederate Memorial Day which is April 27. The courthouse and county offices will be closed for Good Friday, April 3 instead.

Die Where I Began–The Unusually Traditional Will Overman Band
Via Nephew Bill (Will is Bill's son.)
Since I started writing for That Green Hen, I’ve been amazed at how much quality music I’ve missed as a “radio girl.” My internet cohort, Hen, has been part of the local music scene on the West Coast for years, so he should have told me what I was missing, but NOOOOO, he kept it all to himself.
Now I love discovering new music, and one of these days I’m going to shed my inner Emily Dickinson and go off and visit some of these groups in person. The Will Overman Band is one of the great groups I’ve never heard until now. Here are my thoughts on their latest album, Die Where I Began.

The NRA and the KKK—Do we get the history straight?
Via Billy
Awhile back someone sent me so information about how the National Rifle Association was started up so the Union army generals that founded it could arm ex-slaves in the South so they could fend off attacks by the Ku Klux Klan. I checked the information out and couldn’t find anything to substantiate it. It seems that the information came from a conservative Internet commentator. I heard nothing more about it until last week when someone from Texas contacted me informing me that this same commentator was again saying the same thing. And supposedly he now named Albert Pike as the founder of the KKK and took the trouble to mention that Albert Pike was a Confederate general. I don’t know if this was supposed to be guilt by association or not, but out of curiosity, I did just a little checking on General Pike.

Multiculturalism seeks the Destruction of Christianity and American Values
Via Billy
Western values are by no means secure. They are under ruthless attack by the academic elite on college campuses across America. These people want to replace personal liberty with government control; they want to replace equality with entitlement; they want to halt progress in order to worship Mother Earth. Personal liberty and private property are anathemas to people who want to control our lives. This is part and parcel of the multicultural and diversity movements infecting the western world.”
***************
Economist Walter Williams, in a recent
column, called multiculturalism a “cancer on Western society.” As is
typically the case, Professor William is right on target. In fact, I go
even further in my assessment of this malignant tenet of secular
humanism. In my book, Liberal Tyranny in Higher Education, I
make the point that multiculturalism is leftist code for a worldview
that seeks the destruction of Christianity and traditional American
values. It should come as no surprise then that institutions of higher
education are hotbeds of multiculturalism. America’s colleges and
universities are open to accommodating every religion and culture known
to man, except, of course, Christianity and traditional American
culture.

Sharia Enforcement at University of New Mexico: “Resolution 6S” passes
Via Carl
This is what sharia law looks like in America. Sheep to slaughter.
Anti-Muslim hate crime barely registers. Anti-Jewish, anti-black, anti-gay hate crimes are significantly more common, with antisemitic hate crime coming in at over 60%. But facts, reality and truth are hate speech now.
Faked hate leading to anti-freedom legislation.
Muslim anti-semitism on college campuses is rampant, but you never see resolutions, newspaper articles, prohibitions on that nazism.
One of the students wrote me, “I think you would be interested to know that Islamophobia is now officially at my school, the University of New Mexico. The same place where Nonie Darwish was harassed in 2012. Apparently a few days ago, a “Resolution 6S” was passed. Now anyone who opposes Islam is an ‘islamophobe’ at UNM.”

Several illegal immigrants held a rally Tuesday demanding a safer way to sneak into the United States.
MyFOXDC reported:
After risking their lives in the hopes of making it into the United States, migrants from Central American are demanding safer ways to cross the border.
Thousands of immigrants jump on a freight train called the “La Bestia” — which means “The Beast.” and the name holds true meaning.
Along the route many will end up either losing their limbs or being killed as a result of falling under the wheels.
Many others end up being robbed or attacked by gangs.
If that is not enough of a risk, if you make it alive, you still have a chance of getting caught and arrested.
During a protest Monday, more than a dozen people in attendance had lost a limb in their attempt to cross the border.

We will have moments of celebration, liberation and silent reflection, followed by some courageous conversations about local, national and global issues.

So, on one side of the ring, we have Sarah Hoyt whom we respect and admire greatly, and not just because she’s a fellow Euro-refugee, but even more so because she’s an absolutely fantastic writer (and author too!) and a nice, calm, yet ruthlessly strategic influence.
On the other, we have a bunch of equally talented, but more rowdy, sick and tired, angry and just ready to kick down thinkers. And ourself, because that’s where we mostly belong because by G-D we’re pissed off and we’re not going to take it anymore. That’s His Imperial Majesty’s camp, but he has a foot in the other as well.
Not because we can’t make our mind up, but because we know that sometimes we can all be right without agreeing on the particulars. But make no mistake, we’re not kidding when we say that “we’re done.” Maybe it’s just a matter of what we’re done with.
What follows is our reply:
Ma’am, we like your writing, and hold you in high regard, but, we’re going to be brutally honest with you. (Because we’re candid with people we respect).
You’re out of your pretty little skull if you think we will ever give the Republican Party another hay-penny or vote after what they just did.
