"And look at those American girls…" (Well, they used to look like this)

Sad, sad sad.

VERBATIM

From a country now irretrievably faded into the past…

If you had told me as I sat out the summer of ’77 grounded due to my first DWI collar that the country would nearly forty years later look back to the Carter era fondly, I would have called you a crazy old man and told you to eff off.

And look at those American girls…

May God bless and keep you and yours in the coming storm.

And this bird you cannot change…

Lord knows, I can’t change…

The Republican Base Is Bucking The System

Via Conservation Heritage Times

Into the Cannibal's Pot

Donald Trump must be observed from the standpoint not of policy, so much, but of someone who could smash apart the political system and send its hangers-on scattering.

On the idiot’s lantern you hear and see men and women who’re of The system and for The System. Any wonder, then, that they are bucking the thing that’s threatening their equilibrium?

Trump is getting an atrophied political system to oscillate. The particles hate it.

Birmingham city council raises their part time pay from $15,000 to $50,000 + $10K allotted expenses

Via Billy

Sounds as ridiculous as some city councils during Reconstruction. :)

Giving the next Birmingham City Council members a pay raise is not only what's best for the city, but will also offer fair compensation for a part-time job with full-time responsibilities, Council President Johnathan Austin said Tuesday.

At last week's meeting, council members passed an ordinance to raise the annual salary from $15,000 to $50,000, effective in 2017. The increase, combined with slightly less than $10,000 allotted for expenses per council member, means the job will pay nearly $60,000.

The median household income for Birmingham is $31,467, according to U.S. Census figures.

Shriners Jump On PC Bandwagon/Disrespect Veterans and Confederate Shriners

Via Billy

Not only does this order ban the display or use of the Confederate Battle Flag by Shriners, it actually goes so far as to forbid Shriners from participating in any event where one is displayed.

The Imperial Potenate, Jerry G. Gannt, believes it is in the "best interest of the Order and Nobility that no...member shall display in ANY form the Confederate Battle Flag or ANY image that can be reasonably construed to represent the Confederate Battle Flag"  apparently referring to personal use/display OUTSIDE of official Shriner duties!

Please contact the Shriners and let them know that you will cease all support until this ridiculous order is rescinded.

From their website:

"Jerry G. Gantt of Houston is currently serving his 11th year as a member of the Boards of Directors for Shriners International and Shriners Hospitals for Children. Gantt was elected Imperial Potentate, part of the 13-member body that helps govern the Shriners fraternity, during the Shriners’ 2015 Imperial Session—held in Houston July 5 – July 9.

Gantt was raised a Master Mason at Cherryville Lodge #505 in 1971. He is a member of the York Rite, Grotto and was honored with the 33rd Degree of the Scottish Rite. Gantt became a member of Oasis Shriners in Charlotte, N.C., in 1972, and joined Arabia Shriners in Houston in 1980, where he held numerous offices, including chairman of the Five-year Planning Committee. He served as the temple’s Potentate in 2002.

Gantt is a chairman emeritus of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Houston Board of Governors and has served at the Imperial level as Outer Guard Aide, Captain of the Guard Aide, Imperial Marshal Aide and member of the Imperial Dispensations and Charters Committee. During his years as a member of the Boards of Directors, he has served on a number of committees, including Budget, Building and Equipment, Information Systems, Public Relations, Salary, Personnel and Retirement, Planning, Corporate Compliance, Education Seminars, Sports, Research, Medical Affairs, Strategic Planning, Investments and Budget. I’m Shocked! The Washington Post Doesn’t Like Trump!

 https://www.marxists.org/glossary/periodicals/pics/communist_review.jpg

I’m Shocked! The Establishment mouthpiece, The Washington Post, doesn’t like Trump as they make clear in this editorial.

Here is the comment I posted at under the story.
“I DON’T frankly have time for total political correctness,” Donald Trump said at the Republican presidential debate last week. “And to be honest with you, this country doesn’t have time either.” We agree — if political correctness is understood to mean self-censorship of controversial but legitimate views, for fear of social ostracism.”
No you don’t agree, because a few paragraphs below you engage in rank PC grandstanding. Pardon me if I’m skeptical of tradition despising libs suddenly worried about the rules of decorum. Traditionalists are generally the ones who worry about civility and old fashioned manners. For libs those things are the tools of patriarchy or whatever. I’ll consider the WP serious about civility when you denounce liberal SJWs for their over the top denunciations of whitey and men and Southerners and Christians and conservatives, etc. with as much gusto as you denounce Mr. Trump.

Compromised: John Kerry has much to hide on his ties to Iran.

Via David

Secretary of State John Kerry is becoming increasingly frantic as he takes his case for the deeply flawed Iran nuclear deal around the country.

His latest argument, that congressional disapproval of the deal will be the “ultimate screwing” of Iran’s clerical Supremo - and that we should care – verges on hysteria.

Whether it’s hysterically funny or a psychotic condition would be a tough call, if only the stakes weren’t so high for our security and the security of our friends and allies, starting with the Iranian people.

How will lifting the ban on gay scout leaders not attract pedophiles?

Image result for gay scout leaders

A couple of weeks ago The Boy Scouts of America Executive Committee unanimously approved allowing gay adults to serve as leaders. The reason given, “the rapid changes in society and increasing legal challenges at the federal, state and local levels.” Gays have argued that the Boy Scouts of America “stood as a towering example of explicit, institutional homophobia.” The term homophobia implies unreasonable fear. But is it unreasonable to fear gay leaders who may have little boy inclinations? A bigger question;

has societal acceptance of predatory sexual behavior on vulnerable little boys by adult male pedophiles amplified in recent years?

"Preserve the Union? Why?"

Now at this moment in our history the question ought to be: Preserve the Union? Why?

The polarization and fragmentation is so complete that I do not see how the common/pop culture can hold this society together. I also believe this is being done by design with the full intent of totally destroying this country. The illegals from south of the border will strive to make where ever they are a "little Mexico". The Muslims will never assimilate, but will bid their time till the demographics shift the numbers in their favor and then demand that others live under their law.

I don't know if the blacks living in the inner cities can ever change their welfare entitlement culture. If there is any group that is hard core racist, it is the Blacks. Whites in this country have been so poisoned by liberalism that in general they/we are dying out and do NOT have the courage to defend the culture, civilization and their various ethnic backgrounds.

In short the American empire is falling before our eyes the same way Rome did and in our life time.

Dorkhead: Glenn Beck Warns Trump: Do Not Mess with Megyn Kelly

Screen Shot 2015-08-07 at 2.30.51 PM
Once, he had promise, but  has long since lost it.

With questions about his history of making misogynistic comments and donating to left-leaning causes, Fox News’ Megyn Kelly gave Donald Trump a run for his money during last night’s GOP debate. And he was quick to hit back at her Friday morning, saying her questions were “unfair” and even retweeting a comment from a supporter who called her a “bimbo.”

But while some conservative commentators have been taking Trump’s side, Glenn Beck had a word of warning for the candidate on his radio show today: Megyn Kelly is “not to be trifled with.”

Iranian military leader: ‘Only the dead body of the American troops realizes the power of’ Iran

Two Russian warships have docked in northern Iran for a series of naval training exercises with the Islamic Republic, according to Persian-language reports translated by the CIA’s Open Source Center.

The two Russian ships docked in Iran’s Anzali port on Sunday and will hold “joint naval exercises during the three-day stay of the warships in Iran,” according to a Persian-language report in Iran’s state-controlled Fars News Agency.

“The [Russian] warships, Volgodonsk and Makhachkala docked in Anzali Port [near the Caspian Sea], in the fourth naval zone, on the afternoon of 9 August,” the report says.

Missouri Rep.: “Take Out” Oath Keepers in Ferguson

The corporate media is determined to portray Oath Keepers and others in Ferguson, Missouri who are helping residents and business owners protect their property as racist outside “instigators.”
Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, who represents Missouri’s 5th congressional district, went on MSNBC this morning and characterized people helping protect property from looting as criminal instigators who have to be “taken out.”

Heavily armed 'Oath Keepers' inject new unease to riot-hit Ferguson

Via avordvet

Four civilians carrying military-style rifles and sidearms patrolled a riot-torn street in Ferguson, Missouri, early Tuesday, saying they were there to protect a media organization but drawing swift criticism from police and protesters alike.

The appearance of the four men, all white, quickly drew stares in the mostly black neighborhood, which exploded into violence again on Sunday night as protesters marked the police killing of an unarmed black teen a year ago.

ISLAMOMANIA’ IN ACTION: Muslim father lets daughter drown rather than have her touched by ‘male’ rescuers

Via David

The Muslim father stopped the rescue team from saving her because he preferred she die rather than be ‘dishonored’ by being touched by a strange man.

Irish Mirror  A woman drowned off the coast of Dubai when her father stopped male lifeguards trying to save her because it would ‘dishonour’ her. The man reportedly grappled with lifeguards as they tried to save the 20-year-old woman as he did not want them to touch her. By the time the lifeguards had restrained the father, the woman had drowned.

Offshoring: To Insanity… and Beyond

Dated

Author’s note: This essay has the potential to tread into the political realm. Such is not my aim. Rather, my goals are two-fold. First, to show that I have a wide-ranging curiosity and think about many topics, and second, to hopefully introduce a layer of consideration to offshoring decisions and policy beyond the purely economic one.

In a LinkedIn article, Ron Baker discussed free trade and the trade deficit. Arguing that the trade deficit is meaningless, he proposes essentially unlimited free trade between nations. Baker cites economist and scholar Thomas Sowell, whose book Basic Economics is one of several of his in my library, in support of his arguments. I attempted to argue in the comments, along lines of national security, that there are other issues besides macroeconomic optimization and maximizing consumer choice that must be considered.

Before I begin, in full disclosure, let me be clear: I am overall an advocate of and believer in free markets, and agree wholeheartedly with the late economist titan Milton Friedman:

art-link-symbol-small-on-blue-tile-rev01.jpg Trump - "The guy who made the decision about RedState called Supreme Court Justice David Souter a 'goat [expletive] child molester' and First Lady Michelle Obama a 'Marxist Harpy. He was forced to make a humbling apology. Also, not only is Erick a total loser, he has a history of supporting establishment losers in failed campaigns so it is an honor to be uninvited from his event."

art-link-symbol-small-on-blue-tile-rev01.jpg Dick Morris - It is very revelatory that CNN praised Fox News for its handling of the debate. Fox News couldn’t care less what the audience or the Republican candidates thought of them. It was trying to make it in the journalistic cocktail circuit. That’s why they pummeled Trump with such personal attacks and treated all of the other candidates like enemies.

The Clay Compromise Measures

by John C. Calhoun

March 4, 1850

This is among John C. Calhoun's most famous speeches. He was too ill to deliver it himself, so it was read by another senator with Calhoun present in the Senate Chamber. Calhoun, so ill he had to be helped out of the Chamber after the speech by two of his friends, died on March 31, 1850.

****************************

I have, senators, believed from the first that the agitation of the subject of slavery would, if not prevented by some timely and effective measure, end in disunion. Entertaining this opinion, I have, on all proper occasions, endeavored to call the attention of both the two great parties which divided the country to adopt some measure to prevent so great a disaster, but without success. The agitation has been permitted to proceed with almost no attempt to resist it, until it has reached a point when it can no longer be disguised or denied that the Union is in danger. You have thus had forced upon you the greatest and gravest question that can ever come under your consideration: How can the Union be preserved?
