Lee Circle battle moves to court: Federal lawsuit filed to halt monuments removal in New Orleans

Opponents of New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu's plan to remove Confederate monuments at Lee Circle and three other locations filed a lawsuit in federal court Thursday (Dec. 17), just hours after the City Council approved the mayor's proposal.

The suit, allotted to U.S. District Court Judge Carl Barbier, asked for an injunction to stop the city from removing the monuments. It argued removing the historic markers would violate a number of federal and state laws, including the Louisiana Constitution.

It also argued that several of the monuments have become part of nearby, federally-funded streetcar lines, and thus cannot be moved.

The New Orleans city council today voted to remove Confederate monuments, including that of General Robert E. Lee in Lee Circle. Those who are not ignorant of Lee's history know that he was one of the greatest soldiers North America ever produced, and one of the humblest and most consistent Christians.

Don't let truth stand in the way. Against the South a Revolutionary purge is taking place, and we are watching a terror as certain as the Terror of the French & Russian revolutions, driven by the same motive, to silence or destroy its opposition At present it has not begun the bloodletting, but that is an easy step away. The guillotine is always ready.

If you believe the attack on the South has anything to do with race or slavery, you are wholly ignorant. Those are accidental rationalizations and marketing. The Revolutionaries are attacking the most fundamental virtues & values of Western civilization, values that were once American.

When the Revolutionaries have finished with us, they'll come for you.

ISIS, Al Qaeda And The CIA: The Documented Connection

The Middle East is fertile ground for conspiracy theories, and one growing to towering heights these days says the US created the Islamic State.  But while the US may well have aided ISIS in its formative days with covert supplies of weapons and CIA funding (directly or indirectly, via Turkey leading political families) the one nation most responsible for iteration after iteration of "terrorist organizations" is Saudi Arabia which "created" not only the Islamic State, but al-Qaeda, al-Nusra, and many other Sunni Jihadist groups in Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Pakistan.

The US has long been aware of this, of course, and it has provided material support to some of them in the distant past, for example to the Taliban in the war against Russia.  But the more reasonable among us have questioned recent claims that the US intentionally created the Islamic State, a group of the same lineage as the Saudi terrorists responsible for 9/11.

And now, after eight years of Praetorian Media covering for him and helping hide what he truly is–a hard-core America-hating Leftist ideologue intent on bringing this country to its knees, with absolutely no allegiance to or affinity for the Constitution and the American people, indeed possessed of a great deal of antipathy towards both–we finally get to the nut of it.

There are terrorists in our midst and they arrived here using legal means right under the noses of the federal law enforcement agencies whose mission is to stop them. That is not due to malfeasance or lack of effort on the part of these officers; it is due to the restrictions placed on them by the Obama administration.

I was a firsthand witness to how these policies deliberately prevented scrutiny of Islamist groups. The two San Bernardino jihadists, Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik, may have benefited from the administration’s closure of an investigation I initiated on numerous groups infiltrating radicalized individuals into this country.

New Orleans vote 6-1 to topple 'terrorist' statues

One hundred and fifty years after the end of the US Civil War, New Orleans City Council voted 6-1 to remove statues of what some people call pro-slavery “traitors” and others call “Confederate heroes.” 

Council President Jason Williams and council members Jared Brossett, Susan Guidry, James Gray, LaToya Cantrell and Nadine Ramsey voted to take the monuments down. Council member Stacy Head was the only vote against the measure.

Thursday's long council meeting drew protesters from both sides and security had to be increased.

Congress Provides $1.6B to Resettle Illegal Immigrants Arriving at Border Through 2018

A massive appropriations bill expected to be approved by Congress would provide more than $1.6 billion to resettle illegal immigrants arriving at the U.S. border through 2018.

Congress would award the massive check to the government just as the U.S. is experiencing a surge in arrivals of immigrant children at the southern border. Last week, federal agencies said they were opening two temporary shelters with 1,000 beds in South Texas to cope with the surge. A 400-bed shelter is also to be opened in Southern California.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday described US Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump as “talented” and “outstanding,” welcoming his stance on Russia.

“He is a very outstanding man, unquestionably talented,” Putin told journalists after his annual press conference in Moscow.

“It’s not up to us to judge his virtue, that is up to US voters, but he is the absolute leader of the presidential race,” Putin added.

Harvard Preaching Anti-White “Social Justice” to Freshmen for the Holidays

The Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at Harvard University distributed what it is calling “Holiday Placemats for Social Justice” on campus to help freshmen students navigate difficult conversations when they return home for Christmas break.

The placemat, a copy of which was obtained by Campus Reform, offers students tips for talking to their family members about controversial topics such as “Black Murders in the Street,” “House Master Title,” and “Islamophobia/Refugees.” The placemat, divided into four possible topics of conversation, provides students with a series of sample questions they may encounter when they return home to their families along with an acceptable response to each question.

 German Chancellor Merkel took a brave step forward for Europe today when she declared, “Whoever seeks refuge with Germany must respect our laws and traditions and learn our language. NC: BURR DEMANDED INVESTIGATION OF CRUZ: Was Burr acting as Mitch McConnell’s errand boy?

 

According to “The Hill,” after Tuesday’s GOP presidential debate, Intelligence Committee Chairman Senator Richard Burr (R-NC, GRNC ***) had demanded an investigation into whether presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX, GRNC ****) disclosed classified information on NSA collection of telephone metadata.

The debacle started during a heated exchange between moderate Sen.
