Here's What The Waco And Ruby Ridge Standoffs Taught The Feds About Oregon
Will the showdown in Burns, Oregon, end with bloodshed, the way similar incidents in Ruby Ridge, Idaho, and Waco, Texas, did in the 1990s?
Not according to Clint Van Zandt. The FBI's former chief hostage negotiator told The Huffington Post on Monday that he'd be surprised if the bureau responded aggressively to the armed occupation of a federal building in Burns. Instead, Van Zandt says officials would be smart to treat the militants in Oregon with "infinite patience."
Van Zandt helped lead negotiations in Waco in 1993, where a 51-day standoff with cult leaders (called "Davidians") ended with the deaths of 76 people, many of them children. The Waco standoff began with a skirmish that killed six Davidians and four agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Van Zandt believes the FBI played into the cult's hand by forcing a fiery, deadly showdown rather than de-escalating.
Waco was a "black eye" for the FBI, according to Van Zandt.

NC: Welfare Leeches Learn They’re Going to Have to Work for Food

New legislation for welfare recipients in one state is sure to have some who abuse the system fighting mad because they might actually have to get out and work a little for their benefits — or lose them altogether.
Some of the largest counties North Carolina that have been exempt from federal legislation that required able-bodied adults without children work or volunteer at least 20 hours a week in order to be eligible for benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are losing that exemption, according to WRAL.
Beginning Jan. 1, the U.S. Department of Agriculture ended that exemption based on 23 counties in the state showing recovering unemployment rates. Other counties with lower rates will remain on waivers for now.

It’s time for some civil disobedience over what Obama’s planning next

Happy first Monday of the new year, y’all and the year begins with an interesting juxtaposition of sorts.
Here in Texas we rang in a new statute. Texas became the 45th state
of the Union to allow open carry of firearms, just over 30 states allow
that without permit, And some 13 states require an open carry permit.
What shall I be doing? I’m fine with being able to carry my weapon
concealed, but I’m glad I have the choice — understanding that choice is
more than just killing babies. There are still five states that don’t
allow open carry in any manner — California, New York, Illinois,
Florida, and South Carolina.
Happy first Monday of the new year, y’all and the year begins with an interesting juxtaposition of sorts.

Gallup: Only 2% Say 'Guns/Gun Control' Among Nation's Most Important Problems
Via avordvet
As President Obama prepares to announce new executive actions on gun control Monday, a newly released Gallup Poll shows that "guns/gun control" ranked near the bottom of Americans' most pressing concerns in 2015.
In fact, guns/gun control ranked 19th out of 23 top problems facing the country last year.
According to Gallup, only one percent of respondents mentioned guns/gun control as a concern for most of the months in 2015, although mentions spiked to 7 percent in October and December following mass shootings in those months that dominated the news. (The overall average for the year was 2 percent.)

Democrats unsure Hillary Clinton can beat Donald Trump in general election
Via Billy
Democratic Party activists are conflicted over whether Hillary Clinton can take on Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump in the general election, with some fearing she provides too much ammunition for the flamboyant businessman’s style of attack.
While Mr. Trump is leading the national polls and calling the shots in what’s become a circuslike GOP primary season, Mrs. Clinton tops a sedentary Democratic race with two other opponents respectfully nipping at her without doing much damage — and party stalwarts are happy to have it that way.
“I hear a lot of people saying, ‘You know, I’ve watched the Democratic debates and the Republican debates, and they’re so different. I’m sure glad I’m on the Democratic side and they’re talking about the issues. They don’t always agree with one another, but they explain why,’” said David Allen, a Democratic Party leader in Barnstead, New Hampshire. “Democrats have resolved themselves to not go into a circus and tear one another down.”
But Mr. Allen said he does worry about how the eventual Democratic nominee will stand up to the sort of withering barbs Mr. Trump has dished out to his own side.

Oregon Standoff A Terrible Plan That We Might Be Stuck With
Via sauced07
This, in case you were wondering, is idiotic.
What I do fear is that they are cannon fodder beckoning a nationwide government crackdown to which I and others will then be forced to personally respond to with equal f*cking measure. And all of this on the worst possible terms and at a very inconvenient time (executive actions on gun control mere weeks from now).Well, there is whole host of things wrong with this situation, which is why I never supported or endorsed "Operation Hammond Freedom" to begin with. There is a lot of misinformation out there at this time on the debacle in Oregon, and certain alternative media outlets seem to be conveniently overlooking particular facts. I suspect that some people in the movement simply want to "kick it off" (a second American revolution), and they don't care if the circumstances of that kick-off are favorable or terrible (I realize "favorable" is relative, but starting this fight from a much stronger position is more than possible). This attitude was prevalent among some at Bundy Ranch, as certain groups refused to dig in positions for a real fight in the hopes that they would be "martyred" for the cause.
This, in case you were wondering, is idiotic.

Is a Peaceful or at Least Orderly Resolution Possible?
Via WRSA
A reader named Oren has left a series of comments on several posts covering the topic of “moderate Islam”. Although his viewpoint is at variance with my own, his comments provide some thoughtful observations that are worth additional exploration.
Oren left the following comment on one of last weekend’s posts. I’ve bolded the parts that merit further discussion:
It is apparent from the post above, that the Baron has given up all hope on the seeing the conflict between Islam and the West being resolved in any peaceful or at least orderly way. If I understand correctly he foresees some sort of a “collapse”, in which Western countries will break down completely, and the survivors will have to form armed militias in order to protect their homes from pillaging Islamic gangs. I do not discount this scenario entirely, but I do see it as improbable.
I personally believe it is more likely that in the upcoming decades existing nation states will remain more or less intact. A global economic crisis is almost inevitable, as I often explain in my own blog.
This crisis will impoverish most of humanity, and may aggravate the already tense social pressures existing in most Western European countries. Some of them, like Sweden for instance, who have imported more third world migrants than others as a percentage of the population, may experience civil wars. This scenario is less chaotic than what the Baron suggests, but it is brutal and bloody nonetheless.
However, I do see a third option, which can minimize all this blood and gore. This option involves a rapid shift of the political map towards the right, which will bring to power people like Geert Wilders and Marine Le Pen.

Saudi Arabia Cuts Ties With Iran Amid Fallout From Cleric’s Execution
Via WRSA
Saudi Arabia cut diplomatic ties with Iran
on Sunday and gave Iranian diplomats 48 hours to leave the kingdom,
marking a swift escalation in a strategic and sectarian rivalry that
underpins conflicts across the Middle East.
& the next move.........?
The
surprise move, announced in a news conference by Adel al-Jubeir, the
Saudi foreign minister, followed harsh criticism by Iranian leaders of
the Saudis’ execution of an outspoken Shiite cleric, Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, and the storming of the Saudi Embassy in Tehran by protesters in response.
The
cutting of diplomatic ties came at a time when the United States and
others had hoped that even limited cooperation between the two powers
could help end the crushing civil wars in Syria and Yemen while easing
tensions in Iraq, Bahrain, Lebanon and elsewhere.
Instead,
analysts feared it would increase sectarian divisions and investment in
proxy wars. “This is a very disturbing escalation,” said Michael
Stephens, an analyst at the Royal United Services Institute, a research
center based in London. “It has enormous consequences for the people of
the region, and the tensions between the two sides are going to mean
that instability across the region will continue.”

"The Advance Invasion Force of Aliens"
Via Billy
by Al Benson Jr.
The July, 2015 issues of Chronicles magazine had a short but
thoughtful article by Dr. Clyde Wilson, Professor Emeritus at the
University of South Carolina in Columbus, dealing with some of the
personalities on college campuses. Dr. Wilson noted that: "I have long
harbored a suspicion that college administrators are actually an
advance invasion force of aliens. They all spout exactly the same patter
of insincere cliches. They all fix on the latest educational gimmick so
simultaneously that some form of telepathic communication must be
involved. Perhaps most tellingly, they are a kind of rootless national
caste, moving smoothly from place to place for another step up the
ladder. They are surely enemies of the American people, tirelessly
spreading stupidity that will make us easier to take over."
I've worked at a couple colleges around the country and had a chance to see some of the type of individuals Dr. Wilson is referring to. I have to conclude that he is right on the money. Most of them do sound pretty much alike and most of them seem to possess the "progressive" outlook he describes. And many of them are most definitely "enemies of the American people" and of their children who attend the colleges they administer so "higher education" can complete the job of brainwashing that might not have been completed in high school.
In regard to his comment about their being "enemies of the American people" one glaring example I know of comes to mind. A college on the East Coast, through one means or another, brought in a "community organizer" for a special series of winter classes when the students came back from Christmas break in early January. Turned out this "community organizer" was an identified Communist Party member and he was there, supposedly, to help the students "organize their lives."
A local pastor who had extensive knowledge of Communism found out about this and called the president of the college and told him. The fact that this guy was a Communist bothered the president not at all. He told the pastor that the school "wanted the students to be exposed to all different opinions." Either this college president was woefully ignorant or he hoped everyone else was. With my suspicious mind I tend to think it was the latter rather than the former. Well, the pastor had a local radio program and he spent about a week exposing what this college did daily on his program. The school was less that ecstatic. So was the Communist. The professor responsible for bringing in this Communist to propagandize the students did not return the following year. Small loss!
In light of situations like this you have to wonder--how many other colleges or universities around the country are busily exposing their students to this kind of thing. You can bet your bottom dollar these schools would never have anyone from the John Birch Society in to lecture the students--but a Communist, that's fine! A few years ago I read an article by columnist William Lind in which he labeled American colleges as "little ivy-covered North Koreas." Having watched students "spontaneously" demonstrate during the Kent State affair in the early 1970s, with their professors egging them on, I have to agree with Mr. Lind's description of the colleges and universities in this country.
All that to say this--you had really better be very discerning about where your kids go when it comes to colleges because many of these institutions of "learning" are not out there to give your kids a genuine education. They are out there to change the way they think and to tamper with the worldview your kids have been taught at home. They are not educators, they are "change agents." So ask the Lord's guidance and discernment as to where your kids end up for their higher education. The souls you preserve might be those of your children.
